Winter Camping in our Bushcraft Bunkbed Shelter (Roasting King Crabs over the Fire)

Luke here on the Outdoor Boys YouTube channel and today Jake and I are going to finish our Bushcraft bunk

, we're also going to eat some amazing food and have a great time doing it, oh there are tons of rabbit tracks in here Jake , that's where the rabbits have eaten the bark of the tree, that's what they eat in

. I can see it, we're almost there. We made it and it looks like some animals have been visiting. This is a moose track from just a day ago. rabbit tracks here, let's see if they got in, yeah, there was a little bunny that got into our Fort, we had guests in the house, you know, that's pretty hard to do on snowshoes, Jake, here we go, now, try that ladder and Now you're going up for it. a champion, why don't you use the shovel to clear the snow?

seems to be in very good condition. Jake and I are going to shovel the snow and organize things, and then I have some. improvements I'm going to make I have a plan in mind I'm going to need seven small trees, okay, foreigner, are you cold? some dinner. I have this big cube of butter here. with rosemary, basil and garlic in there and we're going to sit this by the fire and let it melt and mix well. I have a sweet potato here, now I cut it into long pieces, put cinnamon butter inside and wrapped it. in aluminum foil we'll throw it over the coals and let this simmer until it's nice and soft, you're getting too hot, Jake, here we go, here are your slippers, you know, these little Camp booties are cute, right? are you hungry, yes?

I'll get you some crab legs. Well, the sweet potato is almost ready, so I think it's time to start cooking the main dish. King crab legs. Look at these things. Look, this is just a king crab leg. It is more than two feet long. Look how thick. Too much meat in these things, they are so delicious now when you think about crab legs, they are always pre-cooked so all you have to do is heat them up and eat them. I take my handle, ah, look at this huge joint. oh, that's a solid piece of meat, dip it in rosemary garlic butter oh, that's so good hmm, there's so much meat on these

crabs

that one knuckle was like a whole lobster tail look at this oh yeah, look at that sweet potato oh that sweet potato is good, I also have a piece of cornbread for you, oh, okay, things are out with

, have some of this meat, okay, a little butter in there, king crab sweet potato and cornbread, you're ready, yes, yes, you can leave it there. go look at that plate of food oh that's good hmm that rosemary butter is so good mmm oh I just inhaled I just ate two pounds of king crab legs and I could eat two more that was so fabulous.

King crab has to be one of my favorite things to eat here in Alaska and if all goes well here in a couple of months I'll go catch mine, it'll be good guys, my belly is full of food and I'm exhausted so I will move on. and make my bed and get into my sleeping bag but it's too hot in here I have to turn off the fire otherwise I'll roast myself tonight thank you okay oh my socks are a little sweaty so I'll take them off socks and put them in the bottom of my bags to dry.

I want to wear these slippers to keep my feet warm if your feet are cold at night, get a pair of these feather booties. Oh, they are so cute and they weigh almost nothing and take up almost no space in your bag, okay guys, it's late, it's time to go to sleep. I'll see them in the morning, the sun is out, but I'm slow to get up and for them it's nice and warm in my bag, oh. this is the hardest part of

winter

camping

oh im so brave when you first light the fire it just fills it with smoke once the fire gets hot even though it removes the smoke.

Here we go, I'm going to warm up my boots for a while. A lot of ice on the inside of this tarp. It snowed a little last night. There is a lot of condensation and ice on this tarp. How are we? All of this is nice and warm. Oh, my socks are nice and warm and dry well since I'm up and ready. I'm going to go ahead and put my sleeping bag away, I don't want it to fall into the fire or smell like smoke. Melting sleeping bags have been a problem lately, well now that I've tidied things up a bit here.

I think it's time to start preparing breakfast. Hello, good morning Jacob, good morning dad, you're hungry right now, Jake, you want a chocolate croissant. I have hot chocolate to dip it in, uh, and let me try it, make sure it's good, mmm, do you like it. Alright guys, for breakfast we're going to have steel cut oats, okay, you have a piece of butter and a little brown sugar, that's it, you'll have the rest, buddy, if I've said it once, I've said it once. time. Steel cut oats are a million times better than instant oats. um, it also fills you up adequately.

Hey, Jake, you like oatmeal, yes, it will be. Oats are an excellent source of fiber. It feels good to have a belly full of hot food, well, now that we have it. breakfast out of the way I think I need to clean up a little the lace is getting dirty okay buddy bring you here get in there. Hey, Jake, you okay, yeah, okay, we got Jacob loaded somewhere in there, you're cozy, yeah, I wish someone would.
