The GENIUS reason everyone's buying black PVC pipes for their porch

Apr 22, 2024
Let's go to our local hardware store and grab a three-inch pipe that's two feet long. What I have to do is cut it in half. It is easy to make as it is two feet long. We're just going to make a mark on the 12 inch line. I can use any kind of skill saw or something like that. I have a Sawzall and it works great, just cuts right now. The ends of these may be a little rough from the cut, just take some 80 grit sandpaper and rub it all over. the road and will smooth it out immediately.

Now we will need three different sizes of drill bits: large, medium and small. Start with the small drill bit, we'll go randomly around the pipe and drill the holes you'll see from Here what kind of pattern are you looking for and that pattern is not a pattern. The pattern is bad. Random is good. We're just going to go up and down drilling holes, don't go halfway though once you get a good number of holes there it's time to switch to the medium drill bit starting in the middle you hit the medium drill bit we're going to go ahead and drill the a little bit bigger holes, it's easier to do because we have already drilled it with the smaller drill bit, switch to the larger one and drill some of the little holes at the bottom so you can see when we start painting, we have little ones, medium and large, now with the paint it covers quite well. to do a small burst, if it takes two or three coats, it's better because then you won't have too many runs with the paint once you cover everything, it will look really good, make sure you get the inside too, let's leave it. dry and now I grab some little Jenga pieces from the dollar store, go ahead and get some wood glue and put it on the bottom, use this piece of wood that I have and I'm going to glue them together now.

They are a little longer than the pipe and will work great as a spacer once we have it all glued together. I'm going to take some

spray paint and paint this wood. I'm only going to apply one coat because I want the wood grain to show through a little when it dries. You will see that it does not give complete coverage. My only problem is the solar lights I'm going to use. They are actually a little small, but I have a solution: grab some hot glue and again I bought some rope from the dollar store.

I'm going to go ahead and glue it to the inside of the tube at the top. Now just keep it. wrapping that rope all around and it will stick there, great, that will be our little barrier that will hold our light, as you can see, it holds firm, all we have to do is drop the light and look at that. it fits perfect and is flush with the top now it's time to take the board we painted turn it over and we're just going to attach a mounting hook to the back just a simple one will work as it's lightweight now once Let everything be dry, We're going to take some hot glue, put a good amount on those two little Jenga pieces that are sticking out, we're going to take our tube, center it and go ahead and push it down firmly, it will hold up nicely.

Now it won't be a problem with solar lights. Click the button and check this out. When it's dark, the light turns on, as you can see in this example. Mount the light drop on the sunlight and it looks great just placing it on the wall, but when night comes, look at that light. It's amazing how the light comes down the wall and also shines through the holes. He does a great job welcoming our guests and family when they arrive at our home late at night. I love how these solar lights light up. and I hope it inspires you to build your own DIY solar tube lights.
My wife has a cozy little place outside where she likes to sit and I think I can improve the area so I headed to the local Dollar Tree and the general goal of this. The project is that everything has to be taken off the shelves, so grab some rope, some clear bottles, and some cool little lights that actually have a little bulb, but are fairy lights. The first thing I want to do is remove the hook from the top of the light, we need it for later, so we'll set it aside next, we'll take the benefit of the bowl, this is something we don't need, but be careful When taking it out, we don't want to damage the light below. we have to take the actual light mechanism and take it out, it's very easy to do, just give it a push and it comes out again, be careful with the fairy lights, what we have to do is paint this cover and I'm going to paint it. the same color as the chairs outside remember it's always good to give it a light coat first if you need to add a second one ahead, now in the bottle we have a cork, here we can go ahead and just remove it and move it.
When the clips come out, we don't need them anymore, so we're going to throw them in the trash. I picked up a bottle cutter from Amazon that's only twenty dollars and it has a little scoring mechanism, so what we're going to do is put the bottle in. on the rollers and you go ahead and start turning it, it's going to score the bottle, which gives it a little line. Now what you want to do is listen to this noise that means you're cutting the bottle, but it doesn't cut. all the way, so what it's going to do is show you a little cut line there, but the next thing we need to do is boil some water and then right next to the water, we're going to put some in cold water. and we need it super cold, this is how we separate the bottom of the bottle.
Now put the bottle in boiling water for a good 30 seconds. Once you have it there and it's hot, immediately go ahead and put it in the ice cream. cold water what happens next is amazing, it will separate along the marked line and look, that perfect thing is removed from the bottom and you have a nice flat smooth line, the next thing we need to do is go ahead and turn on the lights . Go back through our painted cover and put it back on, add a little glue if necessary, you should continue now, grab a glass jar and that will hold our bottle upside down.
What we have to do is take some E6000 glue and place it. around the edge now I'm not going to put it completely just in four areas because what I want to do is take some hot glue and put it on the areas where I didn't put the E6000 that will hold the cover on. in place while the glue dries, so once we have the hot glue in there, we'll quickly stick the lights inside the bottle, put the cap on top and hold it steady while the hot glue dries and then the other . the glue will dry at the same time so let's take that rope and the nice thing about this rope is that it has a little bit of metal that holds its shape so stick some hot glue on the neck of the bottle and let that hold down and then we'll start wrapping it around the neck.
This will give you a nice and cool design. Go up the neck as much as you want. Once you get to the end, go ahead and stick on some more hot glue. there this will hold it in place and then you can go ahead and trim the excess once it stays in place and then take this extra thread that you have left over and we'll thread it through the hook into the light. go ahead and just lay it down, have a little bit more extension and like we did with the neck of the bottle, we're just going to twist it around to give it a nice cool look, now it's time to get started.
Back outside, I went ahead and added a second chair, grabbed a stump as a side table, grabbed some of her favorite homemade lemonade, and started hanging the lights. I made three of these and we put them up and what I made was light number one, light number two. and light number three and it made a perfect summer afternoon. Go ahead and serve them some lemonade. It was a wonderful night and a high five from the puppy showed that I did a good job. I got some points on this one, I hope you do. I enjoyed this project, I sure did and we can't wait to see you home again, thank you.
