Apr 14, 2024
If you want to look like a gamer, get yourself a Range Rover SV with an extended wheelbase. However, if you're a gamer on a very tight budget, why not get yourself an old 2004 Range Rover Autobiography? This car cost me just £22,000, the list price. new £200,000 this is 100 times cheaper than that, how different do they feel? The Range Rover is a style statement. Just look at it, it's so recognizable and has an air of royalty that also doesn't shine when you retire with this big Range Rover badge. the front and this version in particular, being the SV, is not especially so shy and withdrawn.
2 000 vs 200 000 luxury suv
You can spec the SV models with more customization than the standard cars and this one has this chrome effect here on the grille. Look at the wide lower grille here it just gives the car. So much presence moving along the side. I tell you what it also helps with those 23 alloy wheels with the matching bronze parts there and the matching bronze parts here, but the design, the way it slopes towards the rear, it looks really cool and a Once again we have brass parts and this is proof that it is a modern car with a poppy appearance, Z exterior door handles, come on, come on, which obviously sit flush when you close the car to help with that elegant look, of fact, it's so elegant, where are the window seals, where, where?

More Interesting Facts About,

2 000 vs 200 000 luxury suv...

Where do you look, I can't see them, they are hidden, aren't they in the back? You know, this is a big, boxy vehicle, yeah, it manages to look strangely stylish now on the Range Rover 200000 and you can see the family resemblance, you know? This is clearly the ancestor of the new one, right? But it's not as fancy, it's more boxy and some fun things happen that harken back to the era. Check this out, we have little headlight wipers coming up too. Look at this. The badge used to be silver, but now it has turned yellow because all the silver parts have come off.
2 000 vs 200 000 luxury suv
This is actually not the right grill for this particular build. This is from the facelift and whoever owned this car before installed it to make it look like it. a little more modern for about 2 years wow oh this is the new kind of um crang Corner indicator in the fog light design look because it turns it doesn't turn no it's just broken it's just one of those things, is it? OK? Let's move down the side a little bit, so once again, this is an aftermarket or facelift version and we've got a little bit of oh look, they've tried to dress it up here with some chrome door handles that aren't original, but generally They are from the body work.
2 000 vs 200 000 luxury suv
It looks pretty good until we get to this Rusty area, here we don't have a two tone roof on this car and you think about how sleek and long the new one looks. It's much more of a traditional boxy, rear-moving SUV. Very boxy, but once again you can see the family resemblance to the newer car. There is one thing I must point out about this car. Look, my goodness, someone modified it to make it fair. Two grand car. You nail it. It's unfortunate. You'd rather not. but it's not the end of the world. Imagine someone types that new one and you'll get it.
One of the things Land Driver has done for this latest Range Rover is to take it to another level in terms of the

luxury

they want. being able to compete with models like the Bentley Benta as a result it is really super luxurious the quality of the material in this one there is leather absolutely everywhere the shift paddles look for the automatic gearbox solid metal and this is a sign of

luxury

and quality look at those Ya you know, the handles, just the mechanism, the feel of them and the metal elements, they smell beautiful and expensive here too and obviously we have new technology, like a digital controller, it shows a huge entertainment screen, although actually, if you buy one of these. you now get an updated infotainment screen that puts the climate controls inside the screen which I don't like so progress isn't always a good thing and this car here has the old setup where the climate controls are separate, yeah that's what I like, it's better that the SV has these strange ceramic elements around the wrists on the gear selector and the other gnarly parts and of course being a modern car we have some technology here, let's see what's there, woo fridgy, but most importantly here.
We have USBC for the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You have a double glove box. In this aspect you can see that it works electrically. The release buttons are seen there because modern people expect them not to be, especially when you pay £200,000. In its time, the interior of this Ranger was considered luxurious and, this being the autobiography, we have the beautiful leather. It actually wears pretty well. This leather, the thing that doesn't wear so well, the steering wheel, yes, the leather is wearing out, isn't it there, but the buttons? you know they'll work and oh the heated steering wheel is the one that works oh no well the light doesn't come on anyway now it looks old down here but it's all controlled by knobs yeah yeah so I like your temperature. we have dual zone climate but i have already tried it the ac light comes on but it doesn't cool the ac which is pretty standard on a car like this of this age always check the ac has a cooling system information and entertainment, although look. oh hi and it's a touch screen which won't bother with the saav and there's certainly no apple carplay or android auto.
If you want that kind of thing, you'll install your own aftermarket system, which will probably cost about a quarter of the price. Anyway, the value of the car, let's check the glove box. There is only one in this older version and to open it you press a more physical button. Look, it doesn't work electrically, it's a release mechanism and the damping either disappeared or wasn't there at first. place, this is interesting, although the wood panels are real wood, it's not that bad, I don't care, although I prefer the one on the new car, just like in the new car, you have the captain's chair armrest, which They are really cute.
It doesn't have all the added shiny ceramic pieces like it does on that SV overall, although I don't mind it being inside. I wonder if it has a refrigerator, no, it's old looking, an old cell phone holder with some dirt on it, no refrigerator. underneath, but there is a 12 volt socket, you won't find any USB. That is this? That is this? That is this? They're the kind of thing that often breaks down in old cars but here they seem to work. Dare I open the sunroof? I'm not sure if I do because sometimes with old cars you open them and they never close again.
I'm going to take my chances before we go any further, let's do a door test, so I'll just go to the slums. It sounds pretty abandoned, I actually know why. Look, he has soft clothes, right? You don't have to slam it shut. it will close itself. This old car sounds a little more solid. I'm not sure. You'll be the judge of that, but there's definitely no soft closing these days and a Range Rover worth £200,000 and here. In the rear seats, this SV model is on another level compared to any other Range Rover, as it is the extended wheelbase version.
Look, look, how much knee room I have, there's plenty of head room too, speaking of which, look at this leather headliner, I mean. It's so luxurious so are these seats, look at them now, this particular car is equipped with the upgraded two-seater rear seating system instead of the standard three-seater and it has all the functions, so there is a screen where I control everything, so what I can do is press this button here refrigerator NOW See what happens I can open this refrigerator here that contains my glass glasses. Oops, one almost broke that would have been awkward to close, so look at this if I press this button here look at the cup holder coming.
Look at that over designed and then if I press this button here, look at the table and now let's see how you operate it this way, bring it towards you and turn it, obviously just for your drinks, although I suppose it could work. at an angle, let's put it away again because I like the way it works where you go and the cup holders. This is excessive. Look absolutely fine on a new car that's under warranty if it were on that 20 year old car. I'm not sure they're still working anyway let's move on to the seats once again I'm going to operate through here seats I'm going to I'm going to recline look at this look at this everything is happening now and like In addition to tilting the seats, you can heat them up. and there is a massage function.
I love the footrest. Look, it has a piece of carpet. This is taking its time. I guess I can show you that I have blinds. There we go, in fact, that's how it is. very far away I can barely reach it there is a lot of space back here look, I could go to sleep. I would probably sit down and watch a movie on one of these screens and again control them through this system and you have Bluetooth headphones there that you can listen to your movie on so your driver doesn't have to listen to the fact that you're watching the movie. crown on Netflix.
Obviously it's interesting to think that the luxury seat upgrade in that new SV is six times more expensive than the entirety of this car and I'll be honest, here in the back it feels pretty good, it feels a lot better than £ 2,000 would suggest that the leather once again, as at the front, has worn well, although this could do with a clean and it doesn't have an extended wheelbase like the SV, but knee room is still good, there is Plenty of headroom though that brings me to this, the headline I don't know what's going on there, yuck, it's a bit saggy like some old knickers and it's certainly not fancy leather is it?
There is real leather on the seats which is quite luxurious now in terms of technology. We have heated rear seats and a 12v. We had a 12v socket. We don't really have one anymore. We'll leave it at that. Old cars whatever. I have a Harmon Cardon stereo system and in this particular car you could have had some screens in the back, although they were pretty dated. I have to show the cupholders which look nothing like the ones in the SV but here they are neatly hidden in the back of the center headrest it's nice that all these hinges and such still work you know for £2,000 that's impressive , less impressive is this dropped piece here, but it was like this since new, that has nothing to do with the fact that this is an old car I think.
I actually bought some Blinder with this because the quality is impressive, let's take a look under these mats, but come on, what is that thing that hides nothing? It looks like those mats have done their job, whoever owns this car has taken very good care of it. All I'm saying is that while we have a sunroof here, unlike the one on the SV, it doesn't extend back, yet the rear windows are so large and the edge so low that you get a brilliant view. they face outwards and let in a lot of light so it always feels nice and airy, it's a good car back here, rain drivers are famous for their split rear doors and obviously in this latest version it's electric, the model minor sports car does not have this system.
Although it has a normal tailgate, it has the disadvantage that you end up getting hit in the thighs when you lean over to put things in from the back of the trunk. Now this one has a lot of technology, so look, there's the cargo cover, but don't pull it with your hands in this car. I press a button, I might say it's a little unnecessary, especially when the car is under warranty and it can go wrong, but it has it anyway and then there's this other feature, which is the special seating system. In the back you can only fold down one of the back seats and it's this one, so I'm going to fold down the right seat.
I can explain that you can also raise and lower the seat to make it easier to load or unload items. there is a folding seat, it doesn't really go that far. I think if you have the normal 5 seater seat they will all fall out anyway to save you the trouble of like you know putting it back in and putting them in separately just press this button and everything should work at once yeah there goes the cargo lid too, oh the technology, the trunk of this old Range Rover is also electric, but it's just the release mechanism, so there we go and the bottom, oh how it fell so elegantly.
Take a quick look at the trunk, we don't have any retractable parcel shelf, you have to do it manually, but I don't really want to touch it because look it's a little dirty, the trunk is not as big as in the new car, but the carpet ray okay, please don't look down, it gets a little bigger once again. We have this trunk liner, so the owner took care of it, which means the carpet underneath is actually a fairing. pretty good, but these metal parts over here are a little rusty, so there must be some water getting in somewhere, maybe yes, everything is wet and smelly and we have a lot of gravel.
Can you see the gravel? At least we have a sparefull size. Steering wheel the SV did not come with one although there is space it seems that the previous owner left us some things in the trunk we have a couple of ah these are the RAR wings that we could put to replace Rusty's although the color matches, it's close, right is that so? Now I'm going to reassemble the tocate so that I don't have to press any buttons because one of the Gast struts is gone in this part of the trunk lid as if it closes by itself.
One point, oh the last thing I should point out, this one came with a foot bar and the car has a capacity of 3 and a half tonnes which is really useful. However, if you have the foot bar in the latest Range Rover, it is obviously electric, this Range Rover SV may be as luxurious as a limousine, but it is still a real off-roader and you have some technology to help you, so you have a four-wheel drive system with an electronically controlled center and rear differential, you just imagine. To know what to do, you don't have to tell the car, you also have a wading detection system that will measure the depth of the water you are driving through and can wade up to 90cm M, yes, then you have your special terrain. response mode, so by turning this dial you can change from road driving to driving on grass, gravel, snow, mud and ruts, sand, rocks or wading, and you can also set your own; of course, there's a low range mode that you just enter by pressing this button here and hill descent control, which you can alter the speed with this car, you can drive off road without having to think about it.
This old car is much simpler so you put it in low range mode by hitting the switch and then it will lock the center differential and you also have hill descent control there and you can alter the height of the air suspension here and that's pretty much your luck. The new Range Rover comes with plenty of engine options so you can have this twin 4.4 L. turbo V8 with 530 horsepower, but there are also two plug-in hybrids, both use a turbo gasoline inline six-cylinder and you can get a regular turbo straight-six petrol, plus you can get a 3-litre straight-six diesel; however, with this old Range Rover there are two.
Options: You can choose the one in this car, which is the 4.4L naturally aspirated V8 with 286 horsepower or a 3L diesel. Both engines are from BMW, although to tell you the truth, the 4.4 L biturbo V8 and that car is also from BMW. Now they've actually updated that engine, so if you buy one of these now you'll get a similar engine, but with 600 horsepower, let's take a look. My ? Oh my god, that's not good for the engine. I'm going to check one more thing, okay, let's just undo the oil cap that looks good. I'm glad there isn't any kind of milky residue because it could suggest head gasket problems with a little water getting into the oil.
Do I bother checking? the new one um let's do it oh it looks like a similar design this one has been filled out correctly because it was loaned to us by the Land Rover press office anyway if I ever hear the different sounds the engines make let's start with the new Range Rover reev. above, does this have a soft limiter? Yes, yes, that's a yes, anyway, let's listen to the old one which is a million times better. Does this have a soft limiter? Of course, no, I knew better, so it's a win for the old man. rain driver, but there's one thing that's not so cool about this, so put your foot on the brake, yeah, classic, old fashioned, it probably looked cool in its day, it actually looks, it's almost like LED , it's not, it's a lot of small bulbs anyway, you can't see it. the lights on the back of the new Range Rover until the lights come on and then you get this soft light effect put your foot on the brake expensive before you drive these cars let's see what we're dealing with so obviously this car is less It's over a year old and has just under 7,000 miles on it, let's see what the old car's odometer is doing.
This Vogue autobiography is almost 20 years old and during that life he has traveled 173,880 miles a year. It's not much. Now notice this. The odometer is a little dark, maybe a light bulb has blown out behind it, but often with these screens the pixels go out, so this one does pretty well. The same goes for the main infotainment screen, they can look quite patchy and have missing pixels, but this is a suggestion. Toop I wonder if tip toop will be driven. Let's start by getting acquainted with this lovely new Range Rover. This is pretty much the benchmark for today's modern-era luxury SUVs.
You sit very high and command the view of the road as if you were. It is assumed to have come from a Range Rover since the first Range Rover was introduced. What's a little different now is that it feels less agricultural to drive on a winding road. What's really amazing about this car is how much better it handles on the road. than you think something like this would obviously have the whole laid back luxury SUV like nature, the kind of thing you know you expect from a Range Rover, but unlike the Range Rovers of the past, it just has all the technology on board to allows you to take corners much better than you imagine.
For me it's not a sports car and it's not even a Porsche Ken, but by Range Rover standards it's very good, you can go down a country road like this without any problems and it does. In such Serenity, an incredibly comfortable suspension, it is a very, very good and complete luxury product. The address had never been nailed to him, not even like before. If you did that on an old Range Rover it would come on and nothing would happen, whereas now it's actually responding and I. I haven't even put the car into its dynamic mode, where it will firm up the suspension and make it a little bit spikier, so what I'm going to do now is a U-turn and it's a big car, this is still the turning circle. it's 11.5M, that's thanks to the rear axle steering which will be turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction to the front wheels right now as I make this turn so I don't have to worry about braking my absolutely huge wheels, check this out , there's so much space, that's amazing, modern technology is brilliant until it becomes less modern and then starts to malfunction, which we might find out a bit about that with the old Range Rover in a moment, for now though only I'm going to enjoy this. thing, so let's go into dynamic mode so the car is a little more responsive, it even makes a little more Ry noise from its engine, it's nice and punchy, it's got enough high-performance air suspension even though I've gone into the sportiest configuration. just going over these bumps really well, there's so much composure, what a thing, you know, that's enough like lazing around.
In fact, I'm going to go back to Comfort mode. Come in, where are you? and you notice that the suspension loosens in the steering. a little less heavy, the gearbox doesn't shift as quickly, but I have to say the gearbox itself is very smooth, really smooth, doesn't mess up too much, picks the gear you need when you need it, nice, bright, fortunately. The Range Rover has big sun visors that will help me, we also have autonomous driving technology, so lane keep assist, automatic cruise and all that kind of stuff that's great when you're doing a ton of miles.
This car is very relaxing because of these seats and how quiet it is and don't forget that you have speakers in the headrest that can cancel out external noises, that's smart, that's modern technology. I'll tell you what it is also a little. more modern in this, maybe a big old car with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8, but it gets 25.4 miles per gallon, which is pretty impressive. I wonder what the old guy is up to, but it's not like we'll find out a little ahead of time, though. We'll just see what kind of performance this Beast delivers. Now, this big car, although it weighs 2.7 tons, should be able to hit 60 in 4.6 seconds.
I'm going to time it and put it in sport mode for the sport gearbox. mode for driving, especially timing GE up there, let's give it a try, what we have, what we have, 4.96 seconds considering I'm driving on an old, rough surface, it's pretty good for something so big and luxurious. Wow, I wonder what the performance will be like. On the old one, here I am, back in 2004, the first thing I noticed was that it feels like a much smaller vehicle on the road. I'm sitting high up and I've raised my seat a bit but it doesn't feel as high as it does in the new car and the bonnet certainly doesn't feel as expansive once again we have air suspension which is good but it doesn't have adjustable modes and we have a 4.4L V8, but this one is naturally aspirated, so that's not the case.
It has the knock, but it makes a nice noise, it seems that the steering wheel is not pointing forward even though the car is going straight, so it slips a little, the suspension itself, although it is dealing with the bumps very well, you should remember that this car has a lot more tire sidewalls than the new one with its huge wheels and that really helps, in fact you can turn it the other way and go. It's so impressive how capable that big new car, which is heavier and has much bigger wheels, is. go down the road even smoother than this I think I'm definitely realizing there we go there nothing happens nothing this definitely doesn't take corners with the same confidence as the new car and the brakes They're not filling me with confidence either, they just say that Yeah.
I don't know if it's this particular car, but they feel like the old brakes, the gearbox are fine. 5 speed automatic, obviously not as responsive as the new car. and this is what makes Circle interesting, it's more that that wheeled extended version of the new 11.6 M car made that round and I was pretty close to the curb and if I had been in another car I would have been using all my electronic devices and my cameras to see exactly how close I was to the curb, with this one I just didn't care because it's a 2,000 car. I have to say, for the money, it drives very, very well, the engine is quite responsive, that's the benefit.
It's naturally aspirated compared to turbocharged like in the new car, but while it responds quickly, yes, it doesn't live up to its promises. Much more wind, much more wind noise, obviously unlike the new car, there is no noise cancellation. The technology and maybe some of the seals are gone or just weren't that good back then at making this car as quiet as possible. You think that with each iteration, Land Rover simply increases the luxury factor of its Range Rovers and this is just more. back up that luxury staircase this gearbox is changing gears a lot actually look at that yeah I got it for you.
I have it in normal mode, it's not sport, is there sport, sport, oh, can I shift, oh, sport mode, can I shift gears myself, let's have It's good at that, obviously, in the new car you have paddles, but this one push forward to go up, which seems wrong, racing cars, it's like going back up and then back down. I feel like this is giving me a 2000 experience, no, I think. feels better than that I think it will continue to feel better than that until the moment the first scary warning light appears on the dashboard. So far on this test drive, it hasn't arrived, which I have to admit I'm a little surprised by.
Although I'm told the fuel gauge doesn't work on this so it gets about halfway up and then becomes unresponsive, a bit annoying because this only averages 18m per gallon which is amazing actually It's not for this car, it just once again puts into context how much more efficient the modern Range Rover is. This is brilliant. One of the most interesting things is that it is actually rule-free. The last thing we can try is to test the performance. This car has 286 horsepower, weighs 2.4 tons and is supposed to. not be 60 in 8.5 seconds Let's test how many horses have escaped this could reveal everything interesting I would say none hit the money absolutely hit the money 8.48 this is good this so what is my final verdict?
Well, the new Range Rover is blushing wonderfully, but I have to be honest, it's not 100 times better than this one, but it is incredibly cheap. £2,000 is an absolute bargain and it has a year certificate so everything should be fine. As long as it doesn't break, but if it does, you know what? Just throw it away as scrap, don't even bother trying to fix it, give up because you're just £2000 short and, to put that into perspective, Allo wheels. on this car it cost £3,000 this is a bargain this is just beautiful we have reached the end of the day and we have been filming the car static and it doesn't work look the key doesn't actually turn could that be it? the mass is gone or just lost it's mind, oh there we go, what was that?
It wouldn't let me turn the key, but now it won't start, although this is going straight into the trash after this video? I'm going to look for thebooster pack and see if it's okay, um, that's the ignition, let's pop the hood. I'll be back a few moments later. CU normally you press boost, here we go, who, there we go, look, we left the lights on and it's doing. strange ticking sound, but I think we're fine, dead battery, simple as that, it's fine. I hope you enjoyed the video, if you gave it a like, you want to see more videos, click on those windows and click on that box to go. a W car to change your car in the easiest way thanks for watching
