before hitting the road. I'm here with Steve Corcoran. You are the General Manager of Vista Butchie Rock Trailers. Just give me a quick rundown of how they start, so mr. bule is about eight years old, we've grown pretty fast in the last few years after the early phases of, I guess, refinement of the design.

Burke Taylor, the founder, started in 2011 in his garage, he built one just to get his hands on the materials I love. it really is having a you know started the garage story after being you know kind of a designer artist carpenter good carpenter got to work after doing this kind of initial kit type build to design something that was much more treated i guess the shortcomings of what he saw in what the real drop trailer was so good he scaled it down so you know this is something I can work with I could build this in my garage but a lot of the shortcomings of claustrophobic interiors you know that not enough light small doors not very robust kitchens and so on yeah I'm going to go from scratch redesign one thing so I mean number one which isn't here yet right now but really the form factor is what he did the first time. -Okay, since then there have been iteration after iteration of fine refinements and they just shine a little more.

It seems with every production cycle. I love. let's go out let's start at the front here the option we have in this case is a cargo box which has been great I quite like it I also ride my bike a lot and that's another option you can do is get a bike rack and easily you could put two bikes in the front of here and then on top we have a 830 watt solar panel and it's incredibly thin solar panels and since we've been traveling it's been overcharging the battery. time which is pretty awesome one of my favorite parts of the Vista Buell

teardrop

is the back where all the cooking happens which they call the kitchen this is pretty cool this is really been really good for us to use and I'll say like I said we had quite a bit of rain up here and I've seen pictures of these things before it was hard to say how much overhang you really have here and we there it rained pretty good last night and there were three of us standing here kitchen guy doing the thing going on the while and all of us were out of the kitchen completely dry here because cooking was pretty amazing yet to go over what we have here we have a stove here from dometic two burner stove which has been pretty fantastic we also have a 35w CFX cooler that you talked about before on the site it's a big cooler that's on battery in the system it's full of all our groceries right now and i have a sink here we have to turn on the pump so when you turn on the pump we get the water all the power for the whole trailer is right here it goes off and on we got a bunch of drawers on this side we got our dishes and everything the rest. all like this and then we have these slides open and there's quite a bit of storage under the sink so we've got two bags full of groceries under there haven't had any issues with gear storage or anything like that we've got silverware up here a couple of holes in the back here for wine or for olive oil or whatever you're going to use all of our spices in here and others as a built in spice rack so those things don't wobble when you travel which is really nice and then we have 110 power here which has to be plugged into a ground outlet to do that if you want to use that other really cool feature that it has this is there's a little readout down here that says Victor on power and that's the that's the battery reading and what's pretty cool there is a bluetooth app that your phone will connect to so you can open my phone it shows me we have a 84p left or percent on the battery tells me what the voltage says and or the current that is running dry right now which is only 0.2 amps pretty neat more than enough light also here last night I was surprised to help is that there is also a small light of gooseneck here if you want even more or if you want less because this thing was too shiny last night to cook so that covers the back let's go around and talk a little more about the interior okay the Hangout space for that everyone who tends to get on one of these has the same experiences as once you get in here and sit down its just amazing how much space there is and how comfortable you have so much headroom when it looks like from the outside they are quite small or compact units, They're easy to tow, easy to travel with, why don't we cover ventilation? first obviously we've got the fan on top here and this here has the remote control upgrade so awesome it automatically opens it's only running it like 30% but what's really cool about this setup is you can set , you can set the temperature here, just grab the thermostat and that fan will turn on and off to regulate the temperature inside the doors, they also have windows that open and there are several different types of levels for how much you want it open or closed, the same is also true for the windows in the rear and then also in the front down here we have two we have two little scoops there's even more airflow so i can push this and open that right there let's go ahead and talk about the power so we have two usb ports on each side of this which is pretty cool also as we come back here there is a space in between so which is fun to have that all the way through of course you can close these you can close these two privacy screens if you don't want that to go all the way when you want to get to bed time as you may have noticed here on this rear window we have this little privacy panel that goes here these here a we're going to go ahead and roll it down and then there's a little bit of these are all these really cool little design features that make a lot of sense so we have a bar here that goes down and then we have the window covering here and then along this top side all this kind of goes all the way down like that and you know we have kind of a sag here I just guess I thought that was a really cool feature that they have they have this thing here both as far as storage there's a lot of it we've got storage on both sides of the front the back here goes h to the back of this living space so there's a ton of space under here there's also this guy here so when it's time to grab a bite that's pretty easy to do so we just have this in there let's go so that's our table that's pretty easy to set up i like stores in here easily under and like i said there's a lot of storage under that the table doesn't really take up that much space so let's go ahead and lower the bed so that can see what it looks like that way, this is what it looks like with the bed down, it's very easy to put on and go down a lot. of options for the lighting here we have these two really bright ones on the top that are if you're playing cards or something like that you want a lot more light you can have those on I've got two turn signals in the back here that are nice slide one more in the middle and then in the front here I have these two as sort of a gooseneck LED that I was using towards the end of the night just a little bit of light to see what you're doing before you go bed storage lots of storage more than enough storage for a weekend for a couple of people pretty easy this one here does fall down a bit and I actually use it for my shoes they were a little wet last night to get it open it was raining taking off your shoes throw them in there you don't have to worry about ab out of the game which worked great and then storage here as well ok it's the last day of the trip here in

minnesota

we're headed back and i wanted to give a p ar final thoughts on what it's been like traveling with the Vista Buell teardrop trailer things I loved first and foremost I think it was the size you don't even know it's behind the car it's about 1,500 pounds and I didn't even have desire. was there when we were traveling the battery and solar panel on top worked perfectly absolutely amazing 100 amp hour battery 130 watts from the really thin solar panels on top we have been here for

four

days

we are running the sunday cooler all the time there was a couple nights where it was pretty chilly so I turned the oven on inside and we're still on I checked this morning we're still at about 70% battery which was also awesome obviously the back the galley qu before cooking amazing the fact that everything is ready to go that worked perfectly a couple of considerations or things you need to think about a bit because it rained a lot up here i will say with a design like this you have to be more on top of that and wish I could do it again I think we took the time to tarp one side and I think they even have an option where you can where we can do that, but we're sure to hang a tarp because when it's raining and you open this up and the beds come down, your bed starts here and if you're wet and your boots are wet and it's all bad. which it is and it's comfortable and super awesome you have to find a way to get dry so we could have been more proactive on that side the other thing that was really cool about this trip is I got to experience this as a solo trip and then my wife joined us for the last leg of the trip.

The trip he got a chance to go on and he was really curious about it he wanted to know what they would be like if they were comfortable how they work what the kitchen is like so it was a lot of fun we both felt like there was plenty of space to sit down have a beer in the evening , playing cards, was a lot of fun, we thought it was fantastic, a deaf if you want to move on the teardrop trailer kind of route, this should definitely be in the lineup to see a lot out there.

I've seen a lot of them at trade shows and I think it's hard to find the way that they have these conveniences that are in them, the way that they're thoughtfully designed, so they're absolutely one that you'd want to consider. that's the teardrop trailer for vista buell
