TurboJet Engine (3D Printed)

Jun 06, 2021
Once upon a time, two brothers were bored, yeah, well, we should build a bicycle, we do it every day. How about a bike with a motor that is a motorcycle? Well, what about a bicycle with a motor and wings? Oh, I've never heard of that. Before asking myself what that thing that would be called an airplane would be called. I believe this video was featured by Blinkist on December 17, 1903. The Wright Brothers made history by flying the first heaviest piloted airplane they invented and built. The first flight covered 37 meters in 12 seconds and thus, the first plane made its mark.

To achieve this, the brothers used the four-piston

engine

of their own design which was very low power but also very low weight, at only 81 kilograms without the very small fuel. The

engine

gave the brothers a taste of heaven, but the rest of humanity was hungry too. As you can imagine, things evolved quite quickly in less than a moment. Airplanes became common. The engines used became more powerful and lighter. The combination of a powerful gasoline engine and propeller allows airplanes to travel longer and faster, but unfortunately its configuration had a major drawback: the use of propellers puts the limit on the speed of the aircraft because once the propellers propeller tips reach near maximum speeds, shock waves are produced. created to increase vibration and drag, an easy solution to this problem would be to fly higher where the air is thinner, less drag, but because the air is thinner, there is also less oxygen for combustion in the engine, so you lose power anyway, another way to solve this.

The problem would be flying even higher but somehow finding a way to use the engine's power to force more air into the combustion chamber. Of course, this is easier said than done. However, someone found a solution in 1930, a British pilot named Frank Whittle filed a patent describing the new type of engine that used the dynamic compressor and turbine connected to the same shaft to accelerate the air and produce thrust. It took Whittle 8 years to get the new engine running, but when he did it marked the beginning of jet-powered flight using the single

turbojet

engine. The

turbojet

engine today is commonly used in commercial airliners that transport everyone everywhere.

It's one thing. Large cylindrical fan-like fan attached to the wings of the plane. This strange-looking cylindrical fan is capable of lifting hundreds of thousands of kilograms off the ground, but how does it do it? In principle, these engines are quite simple. They have a compressor that sucks in air. Air is used to burn fuel in the combustion chamber and hot gases pass through it. The exhaust causes the turbine to spin in the process because the turbine is connected to the same shaft as the compressor the turbine powers the compressor so it's kind of a vicious circle now this seems pretty simple right?

So why is it so difficult to build a well for To be honest, I don't know, but I'm about to find out because I intend to build one. I guess for me it will be even more difficult because I don't know how to work with metal, my only means of production are. a couple of 3D printers and that's it. I mean, I recently found a way to 3D print ceramic pieces that can withstand very high temperatures, so I could use those. I'm pretty sure I can 3D print a compressor part in plastic because it's pre-combustion, so yeah, let's start with that.
I 3D

an impeller in resin and a diffuser in PLA. The impeller accelerates the air and the diffuser decelerates it. Enter the speed in pressure. This works like when it rains small drops at a rapid rate. but under the trees the rain decreases and the drops get bigger the diffuser is like the trees I think since I 3D

I also made a resin turbine and a support for the shaft so I could do some tests for the shaft I used an eight millimeter steel rod that I threaded into the tips after all the 3D printing.
I had a lot of support material to remove and you know what that means, I miss everything. I tested the setup with compressed air and it seemed to work pretty well. The blue part is the turbine stator, its function is to redirect the hot gases towards the turbine blade within the configuration. I have at least three parts that I can't really print in plastic and those are the stator access bracket and of course the turbine. So maybe I can try 3D printing them in ceramic. 3D printed ceramic pieces. I use a ceramic resin called forsolite which has 17 resins and 83 ceramics because there are 17 resins in there.
I need to post-process the parts in a kiln and burn them. Take out the resin, the problem with this is that the parts shrink 17 at 1200 degrees Celsius, which creates stresses that can warp and crack the parts. To solve this, I have to design the parts with some limitations in mind, for example, I cannot design parts. which are over a millimeter thick, I tried and 3D printed the stator and turbine in ceramic resin, then I burned the resin and the results were not good, the stator was a mess with cracks everywhere and the turbine had distortions Which makes it useless since it needs to be very well balanced.
This project is not going very well. Is this turbine essentially garbage? What do I do now, delete your tomato channel? Sir, yes, you are eyeing the flesh and I have worse news. for you in netsuka, it's in texas, whatever that is. I've created an algorithm that will block the Subscribe button on your videos so that people can no longer subscribe to your stupid channel. Enjoy your latest subscribers. I'll upload it in 10 minutes, so it's not available yet, no. The programmer is wrapping things up so the algorithm can also block the like button so people can't like your videos anymore.
What do you have to say in Netsuka? Well, I guess I should say smash that like button. Disgusting, well I wonder how you're going to get up. that algorithm now you're pressed on my table pressed that's foreign sponsor time hello hello hello my name is in Texas and my goal in life is to conquer power and as you know knowledge is the power to get more knowledge I think I have to read more books, but there are so many books, they are very long and they have no pictures. Luckily I found this solution. Blinkiest Blinkist is an app on your phone that gives you a supervised version of thousands of books that you can read in 15 minutes. but you don't even have to read them, you can listen to them while doing other activities like Russian Ortiz doing Zippy things and pressing tomatoes.
I just got out of the bathroom and learned how to master spending money by reading a book. It's called Mind Over money because money is also power. If you also want to spend your money wisely and want more power, the first 100 people to click the Blinkies.com Integza link will get unlimited access to Blinkist for the week and 25 off if you decide to go for that sweet full membership, The free trial is very free and you can cancel it at any time also by clicking the link in the description. You're helping me with my mission so thanks again for the video, it's okay I figured it out. the problem with the turbine and that's great but I still don't know how to make the shaft support or the stator the problem with the ceramic resin is that it has 17 resin so when you burn the resin it messes with the structure of the piece if you just resin was separated like on the exterior molds, that's fine, so instead of 3D printing the parts directly in ceramic resin, I printed some molds and filled them with some high temperature cement used in fireplaces to ensure that the cement would be evenly distributed.
I used my vibrating saw to remove air bubbles. Okay, the pieces are pretty good, but there is still a lot of excess material that I will have to remove with the Dremel. You know, Bobby, the protective style. Yeah, okay, so far I have the. the compressor, the shaft, the bracket, the turbine stator and the turbine, but I am still missing a key element, the combustion chamber. Now I don't think I can find a way to make the firebox that doesn't involve working with metal, so I got one. Welding machine I have never welded before in my life and I am a good soldier, so this is going well.
I want to learn how to solder from scratch, so I'll start simple. I'm going to get a good look at some thin metal sheets and maybe look around a bit. tutorials, let's see how 22 gauge works. I'll show you three common sheet metal mistakes. Hello Jesus, look at that, that's Numero Uno, it seems like a disease, the second one will be too big a gap, it doesn't matter if they hit well and easily. Through the slot it looks pretty good, it still doesn't look like trash, but it's better. I think I forgot to reconnect the electrodes. The electrode should go here.
I think I'm ready to try it on something real. It wasn't the strange noise. your recipe Australia says you know how to center it, yes, now I can center it. I can solder this, that's good. Oh, it's working. Yes, once the combustion chamber was ready, I had all the parts I needed, so I assembled the engine and tested it. Once upon a time there was a boat that came out to see and the name of the boat was a bully RT the winds blew contracted its bow went down oh blow me Billy guys okay that was a lot of work uh time to test the engine.
I can barely wait. I really hope it works, but let's pray, please, let's get out of thermodynamics, help me get this car engine to sustain combustion without burning down my house. In the name of Colin, first Isaac Newton and propane fuel, amen, some compressed air, look. that new frictionless friction made me almost burn my face some lube so you don't overheat the bearings and die in my hands in the second fight as you can see the ball bearing is dead for some reason the lube doesn't work to the ball bearing, yes, it overheated. I need to replace it and we're back, so the problem was with the ceramic ball bearing which had a rubber casing, like a cage that melted and caused friction.
I replaced it with a cageless ball bearing. I mean, it has a cage, but it's metal anyway, let's move on. No one can, your master, not break into the engine. My grandfather always used to say that you can't have too much lubrication. Maybe that's why you have 13 foreign children, okay? I replaced the torch with a spark plug and I'll use it inside the robot to ignite the fuel, let's see if that helps protect E3 two one strange, okay, I feel it so close, it's like with a Pulse Jet, it's like it clicks and then I can execute it basically strangely.
After that run, I couldn't do any more testing because I ran the engine longer than it was intended for, so I melted and damaged a lot of components, but who cares, it worked, I mean it did. a 10 second run, but never mind, it worked, so you can bet your asses making a version too. I have to confess that building a turbojet engine has been a long dream of mine since it is my favorite engine. I also believe that there is no better way to understand how something works than to build it. I know that not everyone sees my videos as a 3D printer at home to replicate this project and that is the reason why in my last video I gave a 3D printer to the comment that I liked the most suggesting a topic for a future video the winner was Jericho and suggested that as a celebration of half a million subs he could use a Vacuum Cannon to crush Tomatoes.
I like that idea here you can see Jacob with his new 3D printer if you want to win a 3D too. printer, all you need to do is subscribe to the channel, leave a like on this video and post a comment suggesting a topic for a future video. The comment with the most likes will receive a new 3D printer now, before the video ends, I have to talk. about ayush ayush is a young man from India who contacted me because he really wants a 3D printer but can't afford one. He tried to build his own, but it didn't really work properly, so in this video I decided to give two away. 3D printers well this is all for today thank you for watching and remember that tomatoes are disgusting You have mail what Dear Mr.
Intega my name is tomato Mr. Jr. you have killed my father prepare to die ah soon Let the meteorologist come to bring us sugar and tea and Rum one day, when the language is ready, we will say goodbye and leave, she had not been two weeks from the shore and in her right whale bar the captain called everyone and swore he would take that whale on tour soon in May. The meteorologists come to bring us sugar, tea and rum. One day, when the Tongan is done, we will say goodbye and leave.
