It's a new year but we're going to do it just like we did last year except this year we're going to do it in a different year and actually in a different sense century is a new century millennium how many millennia decade 2020 Wow you know what I'm still warming up to I'm still defrosting the whole brain the body we're all getting there this is a recipe I've wanted to make many months ago and I never got it together because I thought I had more important things to do than fry ice

cream

and the reality is I was lying to myself same.

I had no more important things to do than fry ice cream and now I'm finally coming to the conclusion that this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to put ice cream in a

deep

fryer. Nothing feels so good. It's finding your purpose in life. Anyway, this is something I'm happy to admit, as I do every episode. I've never had this before, so I'm an expert here, a connoisseur, if you will, someone who has made this meal and eaten it a million times. No, I tried it. I don't even know what it's supposed to look or taste like.

How does it not melt while you fry it? That seems crazy to me, but here we are, we're going to take some ice cream and we're going to coat it in corn flakes among other things and we're going to dip it in hot oil and then we're going to drizzle, you know, a little chocolate. and a little bit of a New Year's resolution and then we'll eat it, it'll end up being a ball like maybe the size of a softball or something maybe between the size of a softball and the size. out of a baseball and this is like carnival food okay so if you have a sweet tooth and you want to get the hot oil out, you know, try this, join me, join me in the quest to fry something that's already frozen and dessert during January, while you practice your New Year's resolution and self-control, okay, I swear that at some point in my quest to make food on camera I will do something that I am good at and that I have done before and of which we can be quite sure.

I won't go completely into a disaster, but we are disaster prone today. I honestly don't know what's going to happen, but you're going to need some ingredients for this. It is a relatively simple recipe. I don't even know if you would call. Anyway, this is a recipe for frying ice cream. I'm buying two different types of vanilla ice cream. I think vanilla is the best way to follow what we're doing here and the first step we're going to take here before we actually start frying and coating is to give the ice cream the shapes we want because we're making fried ice cream balls.
We want it to be the size of the baseball and softball that this ice cream has been sitting on. This ice cream has been sitting on the counter for a few minutes, so it's soft enough to scoop out. I hope it feels pretty soft, but once we get it into the shapes we want, I'll make four and put it in. Put it back in the freezer so they are very hard and ready for when we fry them because we are frying something that can melt so we want it to be as frozen as possible, you will take this thing or if you are a normal family and you have a spoon to ice cream, you're going to take that and you're going to oh God, I'm going to have to shape this with my hands Oh no, oh God, this is disgusting, okay, are you?
I'm going to shape it with your hands. This is disgusting. I feel like a little child. Why does it make me feel uncomfortable? Oh God, oh, okay, we're going to make three too many fours and we're going to mix this one with two ice creams. Like I wish you guys didn't have to see this up close, but I already set the camera to not make the rules, oh my gosh my hands are cold, oh my gosh okay I'm going to thaw my hands out. We're going to take this tray to hand shape into scoops of ice cream when I put it in the freezer for I don't know ten minutes.
Honestly, I don't want to experience that feeling again anyway, that was weird anyway. We're going to need a relatively decent sized bowl to put the cornflakes in and we're going to mix them in with a little bit of cinnamon because that's the coating you're looking for so we're not going to bake, but we're going to use a baking sheet. and we're going to take our nature's way gluten free cornflakes I don't know if they're the regular kind, gluten free or not, but we're going to take this, you're going to throw it away please, it tastes like it's pretty.
Well, then I think we have to smash them because we don't want them like breaded and fried from these giant pieces. I guess I could have done it in a better way, whatever the new year is, we are getting our hands dirty by working hard. and we're playing hard, so it's an important job here at YouTube when you're serious about it. Okay, I'm crushing them, but I don't want to crush them all. I would love to have some big pieces mixed in. with the smaller pieces crushed up, smaller, that's one word and now we're going to take a little bit of cinnamon and I think just a little bit, I don't know, teaspoon, teaspoon and a half, mixing it with this will add a cinnamon flavor to the recipe.
Frying ice cream is such an American thing, just too indulgent, and I don't like it. I'm not surprised I haven't eaten this because I never realized or probably my parents, growing up, it's something I should eat. any time, but then you grow up and get your own place and you think there are no rules anymore. I can literally eat and do whatever I want. I'm so sorry mom, I mean fried ice cream to deal with that. so we look pretty good, I think a little more cinnamon would be nice, cinnamon actually smells really good and I like it mixed with the cornflakes, like a crunchy, sugary corn smell.
I think cornflakes are generally a good thing, like bread. and frying things and when you talk about desserts, I wonder if you can also use cornflakes for anything else, we should do more episodes of frying cornflakes. I'd like that, so you've seen me crushed cereal for quite some time. I'm going to set this aside and now we're going to grab a bowl, a strainer, and a giant can of chickpeas. If you've been here before, you know what I'm going to do. I'm going to use the liquid inside this. can of chickpeas, also known as aquafaba, as our substitute for egg whites because this recipe calls for egg whites and basically I think the reasoning is that you want to write before you bread or cover the ice cream scoop with the cornflakes that you want. cover them with something sticky so the cornflakes stick better to the ice cream and instead of egg whites we will use this stuff that has worked amazingly in previous episodes as substitutes for egg whites, so let's get rid of all the liquid, this bowl seems too small, okay you will get a bigger bowl because you didn't measure it or think about it properly, so we will take a whisk and beat this why I don't know because it says to do that I don't actually know if this is doing anything, but I hope it's chickpeas and cornflakes, two strange ingredients that I've ever used together in a recipe, strange as it may be, now we're going to have to give it our scoops of ice cream. some time to really firm up, so I don't know ten fifteen minutes, however long it takes for them to look really ready to fry, get ready to, you know, mentally, look at fried ice cream because I think it's a sight. seen so prepare yourselves mentally and when the ice cream is ready it will present itself well, we are at about 240 degrees, I think we are going to try to get to about 350 degrees, well, between 3 and 350, I think it is okay, we have about 2. quarts of vegetable oil in our liquor they say Chris says and the ice cream is hardening the plan is to go to the freezer grab one of the ice cream balls put it in the Aqua fava throw it in the cornflakes fry it I also looked in the recipe it is 15 seconds and then that's it, so don't mess up that part, otherwise you'll probably just have a mess of melted ice cream and oil splattering and whatever, so we'll like leave it. on a little rack to dry and cover it with chocolate because we want to, that's the only reason we need so we're literally waiting for the oil to heat up it's not ready yet you and I are ready you and I are ready, but this guy here down below it's still 2019 buddy okay time to get our hands dirty and hopefully not burn ourselves we're going to make some crazy dessert right now 320 and we'll go up to the perfect temperature.
I'm literally going to run to the freezer right now. I grab a ball in my hand and I do this real quick so don't blink oh it's melting I can feel it melting okay I have the ball putting it in that liquid aquafaba and putting in the cornflakes this is wild and weird we are

trying

. to cover it all, I can literally feel it already melting and let's go for it, okay we just have to go for it, let's go for it, oh my god this is 15 seconds but what the hell this doesn't stick oh no oh no something tells me that the liquid in a can of chickpeas is not doing what it needs to do this is literally just a scoop of fried ice cream with corn flakes falling out of it that's not what we need we have to do it so the aquafaba is stickier let's add a little bit of egg replacer and that's what we call it kitchen areas because now we're just going to prepare it until something works we're going to put a little bit of powdered egg replacer into our liquid we just need to this is sticky. or something stickier that the cornflakes will really want to cling to and it still doesn't work well, I should try that number two, ah, go quick, grab the scoop of ice cream, put it in the bowl of aquafaba and now let's really cover this thing we have to do.
Pack these cornflakes in here because the more they fall off, the worse off we'll be, oh God, they're getting dirty in here, I'm scared, there's hot oil, okay, let's try it again, here we go, baby, work, come on, baby. Come on, you got this, oh my gosh, this one could work. I'm going to turn it around. Oh, this one is working better. Has it been 15 seconds? You come? Are you coming friend? I think we did it. We have it now. Let's put the chocolate thing in here. Come on ma'am, we fried ice cream and nothing was messy, it's okay, it looks like a bomb, are you kidding me? let's try again well, first we need a beautiful photo.
Damn, oh god, this is a messy recipe, it's a disaster. You know, this looks delicious. I want to try it. I'm going to take a bite. It tastes like ice cream topped with extra crunchy corn flakes that are hot. I don't know what I expected. I mean, this is really good because. I just described cornflakes, delicious, extra crunchy, always a good feature in food. I scream, it can't go wrong and then the chocolate on top, maybe for the last one we can try to double dip it so I'm going to buy more cornflakes because these are a little wet and I could go from the cornflakes to the liquid and then to the cornflakes for the second time.
I think the larger the layer, the more crispy ER we can get, and the more substantial the outer layer will be. We're going to take the last try, we're going to really try to double dip this one and if it fails, the worst case scenario is that we have ice cream covered in crunchy chocolate corn flakes, even then we'll be winning, so even if we lose. we beat the last scoop of ice cream in the aquafaba in the cornflakes and let's do it again in the water fiber and then more cornflakes, we dip this twice baby, oh God, please don't crumble, no, 15 seconds. its distance I have been 15 seconds the easiest recipe of my life fried ice cream lady I dropped my spoon can you get another spoon guys, go to this hot wheel no, everything is fine, wait, you already had some?
Yes, I have one, but damn. Look at that thing, holy shit, that's cute, yeah, yeah, yeah, you gotta try, you gotta try, you gotta try, what happened I don't know, that's good, I don't know how the hell this is supposed to be, that's right The best I can do is like dessert cereal yeah yeah that's what it is because the ice cream melts slowly and freezes in the middle oh baby that's what I'm talking about baby cereal on the outside and frozen ice cream in the milk, how was it? It's raining cornflakes why not why isn't it okay oh my god we did it and it wasn't complicated even this is okay I'm proud of us uncle dad to the rescue wait that's disgusting.
Hey, look, stop, I'm. I'm going to throw up That's so disgusting Why do I never put cereal on ice cream? Don't know. I'm starting to wonderbecause it's going very well. It's so crispy. It's so good. It's like extra crunchy. The cereals are like hot. I'm fine and then the chocolate on top seals the deal just when you should with fried ice cream. I thought, look, okay, I did it. Wait, this is really good. If you would like to make it faster, just pour some cereal on the ice. cream like this, this is amazing, we did it on hard mode, hard mode, the way they put it in, I mean the fryer, as you can see, it's a complete mess right now, guys, this has been off camera for quite a while, but this was an effort. number one and I realized I really needed to pack the cornflakes and you can only whip them for 15 seconds, they are also sized to melt.
This was a recipe that is quick and dirty. It's a complaining area, so it's perfect for my vibe. It's exactly what I wanted from today and I got it, you end up with a beautiful mess and a really fun warm and cold dessert, it's fun, yes, warm, cold, the temperatures and the textures, soft is icy, crunchy is hot , it's very funny, yes, that's it. a nice way to put it, this is delicious and the calories, if you fry it well enough, there is no color, the calories are eliminated. I realize how long it's been since I've had ice cream and it's this good, why it was really fun and produced something that was actually really good.
I don't know why you would do this, although it's a fun, casual evening, it's so Harville like it's a lot of fun, but you have to eat it right away, you have to eat it right away unless you somehow like freeze it again, but then you take away why you fry it because then it's like coded cornflakes, it feels like a carnival, yeah it's carnival food, yeah it's roller coaster time, you guys want some cornflakes I'm
