There are a couple of them. This happens to be my favorite now. It's in German. This is from a company called Viva Decor. I think I bought it at Joanne's and then I loved it. I fell in love. I love this because I was using Mod Podge, which was very thick and heavy and sticky, and in fact, someone asked me once after I decoupage something using Mod Podge and they said, oh, how did you get that to stick to the plastic of that way? It was a glass bottle, so I'm not crazy about Mod Podge, but it's also so thick and creamy that when you try to work with

napkins

they can sometimes break, and it can even cause a lot of wrinkles, so the first thing is to get a napkin. decoupage glue now, this is the second tip that I want to show you, they can really help you with the problems when you have wrinkles and I call this dry method.

I place the napkin on a dry surface and this is where it can really help. use napkin decoupage glue when you put the napkin face down and it's dry and you take some of the napkin, take something else that I would have edited, you take the napkin decoupage glue and by the way, it's better to use one of these napkin decoupage brushes bristles. excuse me if you hear dogs or cats or the doorbell or the phone or anything I'll try to turn this off and come back to that and you want to take your napkin and start in the center with your decoupage glue and you can see That's a nice flat surface because sometimes , when you put the napkin decoupage glue first and then place the napkin, if you don't place it exactly in the right position, you can already create or cause a wrinkle and you need to make sure that it goes from the center outwards and goes down these edges and I want to cover this quickly so I can show you the third tip and that third tip I can see I'm overlapping here okay I'll file it away when I'm done the third tip is you can put a lot of your decoupage work in your oven so You don't want to set the oven any higher than 175 degrees.

I am here in the United States. I'll look up what that means Celsius because when I do these videos a lot of times I get people from other countries, sorry, that's another reason why I don't like doing these things live, so here's the calculation that I'm sorry, here There is the conversion: 175 degrees Fahrenheit is what I would set my oven to in degrees Celsius which turns out to be 79 points. These are fours one two three four five six seven that's what I could see and I don't know if there's more stuff coming out of the computer screen or if that even matters so this is the way I do this so it doesn't break any glass or damage any of your projects.

I put this on now that it's wet with the decoupage glue and I'll take a cookie sheet and put some parchment paper on it. I'll post the article I'm going to. You can lay it down or pick it up. I'm going to put it in the oven, but the oven is cold right now, which is what you want if you put this in a hot oven. it could break the glass, it could actually cause you a lot of problems, so you put it in a cold oven and set it to 175 Fahrenheit, that's here if you're in the United States, if you're in another country where your oven is set. on the Celsius scale seventy-nine points all those four and I put it in the oven when the oven beeps to let me know that it has reached my temperature, then I turn off the oven and leave it there to cool and I think what happens is that the glue for decoupage it contracts, it's almost like it's melting and pulling, it never breaks, maybe it just microscopically stretches the napkin a little bit, so that if you start any of those wrinkles, it calms them down and pulls them out.
I'm going to take it out and I'm going to put this one in the oven and continue now. This is just a canvas. If you're working on a box or some other normally flat surface, this is what it works best for. You can iron. -In the method, which is where you would cover the entire surface and always make sure you have too much, not too much, take a fancy glue, but some people have a very light hand and they tried this method and said there were spaces where it wasn't. It doesn't stick properly after I iron it on, so essentially what I'm going to do is let it dry and cover the entire surface with the decoupage glue.
Be sure to use plenty of decoupage glue, although you'll also want to soften any lines as you can. I have here and I'm going to let this dry and then I'll come back and show you the ironing method and I probably should have started with a small canvas just to show you this and always make sure I get these ends. So I'm going to put this outside to dry. Today it will reach 90 or so degrees. Look, I don't do very well with summer these days, so I'll put this outside, let it dry and I'll show it to you.
Another tip while this dries to show you how when you work on a rounded surface you can

avoid

wrinkles and since I spray painted this, you would say it's a terracotta pot. I spray painted the inside with something that's going to Protect this pot so that when you water it the water doesn't get through and affect your paint and your work and then I spray painted the outside and I don't want to put this in the oven because it has chemicals in it. I'm not going to like the way it smells, but because this is a rounded surface, we can't apply the ironing method as easily and in these small areas it would be very difficult to iron, so I'll come back to that.
As soon as it's dry, what I like to do is take the napkin and I don't want to try to put this all on the surface at once because that will definitely cause wrinkles as well, so what I want to do is tear off smaller pieces. of the napkin and line them up next to each other. I don't like hard edges here, so there's the oven, let me turn it off, which can cool down in there while I work on this, that's how I do a lot of times. from my project file, by the way, well, one thing is drying or in the oven, the other is being prepared, one thing is being painted, cleaning the house, doing laundry, I'm sure you all know exactly what I'm talking, so let's separate this napkin. so you only have the top layer, it's funny because I want to moisten my finger

tips

a little bit, you can dip them in water and then dry them a little bit because you don't want to saturate the napkin but you do want to pinch it. in these corners where it's reinforced like this and that makes your fingers a little sticky and pushes everything away, so I'm not worried about this edge here because it's going to file down anyway.
Now, what will I do here for this particular one. planter just to show you how you can also

avoid

wrinkles on a curved surface, what you want to do is place the napkin decoupage glue right over the area where you're going to place the napkin, make it a little bit bigger, blue, that's what it feels like. It wants to roll so I'm going to put a couple of things next to it to secure it. Now I'm going to carefully place the napkin over where I just put the decoupage glue. I've seen some people pull these and I've seen, I even saw a video where a girl pulled it and broke it and she was like, "Oh, okay, okay, I don't want to break it, so what I want to do is secure this." without ruining my work." Taking a piece of plastic saran wrap, you can even use plastic sandwich bags if you want garbage bags, if you have them on hand, it really helps if it's clear so you can see what you're doing anyway. on and especially on a curved surface, if you grab these ends, pull hard and press down and then take your fingers and go in and out to see if I can get close to this so you can see this, you see there are some wrinkles there because the napkin decoupage glue is already on and we have the saran wrap, you can gently rub them with your fingers, remove the plastic and then you have this really nice decoupage area where you can still group the napkin, take the napkin and the plastic. wrap it up and check it and now I'm going to set this aside to dry.
I don't think my project in the oven has dried or cooled yet, obviously you want it to cool so I'm just going to go back. a little while and everything is dry I'll finish this pot and I'll show you how to do that last method which is using the iron, so we took this piece of canvas out of the oven and I put it in there, which probably some of you I would say don't do that. So because it works and it melts it, it's still fine for the purpose that I'm going to show you. This is back to the ironing method.
You want to make sure you have parchment paper. that is the only paper that doesn't burn and you can also use your normal iron. I hesitate to tell you what temperature to set the iron to because everyone's irons reach different temperatures, but I will say that this can require a lot of heat as long as you have the parchment paper, so we place the napkin over the area where you have dried decoupage glue, preferably the napkin, then you want to put the parchment paper on top of that and then you can take your regular iron or one I won and have had.
This set for a while is on high and you actually iron the napkin directly on the surface. You should really use the household iron for this because this tiny thing will take me all day, but I'll post a link. Next, this is actually very useful when you are working on smaller pieces, like if you were working on a box, it usually works best on a flat surface and is also great if you have to get into a corner or a crevice, it's great to get in there , you can see that tip and we'll touch it because it's so hot, anyway you can see that ironed it and I don't see a wrinkle in sight.
I'm going to work on the rest of this. and then I'll show you what happens when we put another layer of decoupage glue on the surface. Something else I wanted to mention, another problem could be if you finish ironing and then you go to put a layer of napkin glue over this if you missed a spot when ironing that could tear your napkin when you go to apply the next layer of decoupage glue , so you just have to make sure you're very careful in covering all of these points. You can see what I'm doing. this in real time here so I'm not speeding up or slowing down the camera this is all you need all the speed you need and always make sure you get those edges now that you think you're done.
You want to make sure you hold this up under a very bright light and check that you can feel it, but you can also see it, it looks like it's here, yeah, I could see that the napkin isn't sticking, so I checked that. area very lightly and I'm just going to iron it over again and if you don't use this parchment paper you're going to run the risk of burning your napkins because I've done it before and now I'm going to add that layer of decoupage glue over the surface and like you're doing the dry technique because essentially this is dry even though it has adhered to the surface now you still want to start in the center, work outwards, make smaller strokes and just expand your area a little more, again you want to work with a lot of decoupage glue and as long as you're careful with this and don't try to make too big a space at once, even if you missed an area underneath If it's not enough decoupage glue or you lost it with the iron, you can still get this to stick to the surface from underneath without creasing or tearing.
Some people write to me and tell me that wrinkles appeared when I did this and right now. It seems to be a little wrinkled and that doesn't stay that way once it's dry, they come off once it dries so I'm going to put this out to dry, today it will dry quickly and I'll go back to another piece so Once everything is done this is ready to code, by the way, I used a different napkin here. I want to cover this now, but I wanted you to see how using that saran wrap on a curved surface like this can make a big difference and here's something else you might not know when using a very high gloss, in fact any gloss on a surface. highlight blemishes, if you see a wrinkle that really stands out after applying the high gloss, it's because the gloss will magnify any blemishes, it actually magnifies everything, so you can do a couple of things, you can add a little bit of shimmer in there, Twyla , tie a little string around here twice if you want or you can leave it like this so I'll come back later with this. piece to show you how it turned out and here I am back with the bottle and this is dry.
Again I will work from the center outwards gently pushing the decoupage glue towards the edges. I'll dry it and add a top coat to set it aside to dry again, okay, so I'm outside and I'll bring this outside to show you withthe most intense light possible how they turned out using the methods I mentioned. You can see I put glitter here and gave the grass a shine. It looks like it's painted on there maybe one or two wrinkles here but it's very very hard to see this is what the pot looks like and this is where we used the saran wrap here is the canvas and you can see I put a lot of shine on it to the canvas also to highlight imperfections.
Wrinkles are really hard to see. I think there are some like them around here somewhere, but that ironing method is also a great method to avoid wrinkles and here is my moody bottle that also has a green glass bottom, so I wanted to mention something else when I talk about this decoupage glue vive de coeur.
