The five mighty parks consist of Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. This is one of my favorite road trips on this list and there are also a handful of state parks and hidden gems spread across these parks, making this road trip perfect if you're planning a 7-10 road trip. days because there are many additional stops you can make.

top 10 usa roadtrips to do in 2024...

I have an extremely detailed video. On this exact road trip that I will link for you to check out, but here I will give you some of my favorite hikes and destinations between these parks, you will have to see Delicate Arch and Double Arch and Arches Mesa Arch and the Island in the Sky and the Lands of the Hickman Bridge Canyon Navajo Knobs and the Temple of the Sun and Moon and Capitol Reef, all the overlooks along Brace Canyon Scenic Drive and of course the Narrows and Angels land in Zion. Next up is Northern Arizona, a region pretty close to mighty5 Northern Arizona is stunning, there are so many beautiful destinations here including roadside stops, short hikes, backpacking trips, etc., some of the places are spread out, but if you are looking for a city to get a hotel for a base camp, paig is your Spot Paig is situated along Pow Lake, some of its famous places include Analou Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, but while you are here you should also check out the New Wave Toad Stool Hoodo and Le Fairy and southwest of Paige is the Grand Canyon, the most famous canyon. in the world and if you are looking for a challenging hike that is less known on the outskirts of the park but is still in the Grand Canyon, you can check out the Hopy Salt Trail which will take you directly to an Aqua BL Oasis and then east to En this page you will find Monument Valley along the Utah Arizona border and at the end of the movie Forest Gump there is a very famous location filmed here in Monument Valley and we will continue south and head to Sedona as another hub for the rest Of the places on this list there is plenty to do in CN Sedona.

I have a top 10 here and Paige, but my Sedona favorites include Devil's Bridge and Birthing Cave. You can also spend the day at Slide Rock State Park just outside of town and then my last three destinations in northern Arizona that I'm going to include on this trip are Watson Lake, a great place to camp and rock climb the Bob Bear Trail, which It's a hike that will take you to an aqua blue swimming hole and then Petrified Forest National Park and before we move on to number three, I want to make a quick note about this video.
top 10 usa roadtrips to do in 2024
Everyone who sees this will plan a trip differently, fly in and out of different airports or live near one of these where they'll start a road trip from home because of this, I won't necessarily write down the road trips in an order specific to locations, but rather I want to focus on all locations per road trip rather than the order in which they should be visited. Solely because the order in which you can visit these places will change from person to person anyway, for number three, we're traveling through New England to enjoy some of the most beautiful fall foliage in the world.
New England turns into a rainbow of colors during the months of September through November, depending on the year and conditions, but it's surreal, it's almost like you're inside a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. One of my favorite destinations here is Aadia National Park, where you can be the first person in the country to see the sunrise. The top of Cadillac Mountain, the coastline and Scenic Drive are also impressive and if you're looking for adventure, you can hike the cliff or the Beehive Trail along the cliffs. Some other places I love in New England for fall color road trips include Lake Winn. pass Bar Harbor Stow Smuggler Notch and in New Hampshire you can't go wrong with any of the 4,000 foot White Mountains.
Next, we will drive through Colorado, a large state loop that starts in Den, passes through the San Juan Mountains and returns to Denver there. There is a lot to do in Colorado, so I'll just be scratching the surface. I have dozens of Colorado-specific travel guides on the channel, but we'll start heading south from Denver and in Colorado Springs we'll visit Garden. from Gods and Pikes Peak and then we will continue south and once we pass Poblo we will detour west to Canyon City to catch the Royal Gorge Train and then we will drive southwest to the sand dunes and then to Pagosa Springs Pagosa Springs is home to the deepest hot springs in the world and home to some of my favorite geothermal hot springs in the world.
You'll have to take some time to soak in Springs Resort from here, you'll drive west, past Chimney Rock and through Durango to drive. the famous million dollar highway that passes Cascade Creek Falls, Rainbow Mountain Mount Sniffles Forer of Colorado and Ur which is known as the Switzerland of America just to name a few places along the highway, after this, you can continue to Aspin or Crud But and a Scenic Drive I. I would recommend in this area Kebler Pass which has beautiful fall foliage. It's a dirt road but any car can drive it and then when we get back to Denver our last stops will be in Glenwood Springs and Breen Ridge in and then we'll end up back in Denver for our next road trip.
We'll begin in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, home of Grand Teton National Park, some of the most beautiful jagged peaks in the country. My favorite hikes here are Delta Lake and Cags Lake. but there are many roadside viewpoints if you don't want to walk and this includes Tagert Lake Jenny Lake Schwabacher Landing just to name a few and then we will take the scenic drive past Jackson Lake towards Yellowstone National Park where the Old in constant eruption. Faithful geyser and great prismatic, the most colorful and beautiful geothermal feature I have ever seen. Yellowstone is one of the busiest parks in the country, but it's honestly one of my favorites, it's unique, and because the park is so big, there's a lot to explore. in a handful of places to get away from some of the crowds like Nor Skyer Basin and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone during sunrise.
From here we will drive west into Idaho over Teton Pass and then see Craters of the Moon which is a vast landscape of volcanic rock, this is a very cool place and is an easy half day stop before continuing towards the Tooth Mountains. of Idaho salt just outside the town of Stanley, the best hikes here are Goat Lake and Salto Tooth Lake and, if you're looking to just relax for a day without hiking redf Fish Lake is a great place to spend a day in the water, rowing and just hanging out. Our last destination for this road trip is Glacier National Park in northern Montana, another of my favorite parks.
The park has beautiful views, but to see the best that the Glacier has to offer, you'll have to be ready to hike. My favorite trails here are Grel Glacier, Highline Trail, and Iceberg Lake, but if you're just looking for a beautiful road. Stop in, you can never go wrong with Lake McDonald. Next, we'll cruise around Cali and tour the best spots in Southern California. The entire state is amazing, but for this we will mainly focus on locations between Las Vegas. and Los Angeles, if you start in Las Vegas, you'll head west to see Death Valley, home to the lowest point in all of North America at 282 feet below sea level in Badwater Basin.
My favorite places in the park are the sand dunes. and zabrisky point from here you can head north or southwest. If you head north, you'll head to Lone Pine, which is the town east of Mount Whitney, which is the highest mountain in the lower 48 states. You can climb this peak from here or If you go to the same Whitney Harbor trail, you can hike around Lone Pine Lake, which I really enjoyed, and below the mountains there is an area called Alabama Hills and this is a landscape full of huge arches of Boulders Rock and pristine rock climbing backed by Mount Whitney and the rest of the Sierra Nevada mountains is a great place to photograph.
Mount Whitney is in Seoa National Park, but if you want to see most of this park you will have to drive south around the mountain range and if you want a great hike closer to Lone Pine, you can drive north to Bishop and hike Big Pine Lakes, a series of pristine alpine lakes, but if we backtrack, if we head south from Death Valley, we'll go straight into the Mojave Desert in Joshua Tree National. Park up, my favorite spot in Joshua Tree is Arch Rock at White Tanks Campground and then after all these epic desert and mountain locations you can head to the coast to enjoy the Pacific Ocean.
Personally, I prefer San Diego to Los Angeles, but they both have beautiful coastlines like Malibu and the Cabrio National Monument at number seven, we are going to road trip through Southeast Nevada, which is extremely underrated in my opinion. Some of the locations on this road trip will be busy due to day trips from Las Vegas, however, some of these locations are definitely more off the radar, so you may be able to escape some of the crowds. , so just outside Las Vegas to the west is Red Rock Canyon, a scenic 13-mile drive through beautiful desert landscapes and towering rock walls.
You can visit this area as a scenic tour. A long bike ride away, there are many hiking trails and it is home to some of the most classic rock climbing in the country. There are very long walls from 1 to 2000t with relatively easy multi-pitch climbs, so it's a great place if you're looking to get on a big climbing wall but stay on easier slopes, then east of Las Vegas we can visit the Valley del Fuego, which has an iconic photograph of the road through the valley that you've probably seen on Instagram, but my favorite place here is the fire.
Wave 1 hour southwest of Las Vegas, we can head to Willow Beach which is on the border of Arizona and Nevada, and here we will rent kayaks and head to Emerald Cove, a beautiful cave that is located along the water with a extremely rich green that you can take. a tour or you can just rent kayaks and go out, we just rent them and guide ourselves because most tours seem pretty expensive and you're also with 40 other people so that takes away from the experience in my opinion , we will head north from Las Vegas and go to one of my favorite state parks in the country.
Cathedral Gorge was an absolute ghost town when we visited and we had the whole place to ourselves, it was so much fun exploring the slot. canyons here, lastly we will continue north to finish this road trip in Great Basin National Park for our eighth road trip on the list. We headed to the Black Hills in South Dakota, another extremely underrated destination that exceeded all my expectations a few years ago. A while back Bri and I took her parents there and I assumed oh Mount Rushmore this was going to be crazy commercial and touristy but it was actually really cool and learning how they built it was amazing and the same goes for nearby Crazy Horse Memorial where we stayed. in Hill City, but another town where you can stay here is Keystone, regardless you visit both if you book the 1880 train tour, which I highly recommend, and in the Black Hills you will also visit Wind Cave and Jewel Cave, which are the fifth and seventh system of caves in the world.
Exploring them is a lot of fun and the tours are perfect for an afternoon family activity. When we went, we needed to book our tour in advance, which I planned because we saw some. people turn around at the box office because the tours are sold out. As for my favorite place in the Black Hills, that will be Kuster State Park, which honestly could be a national park if the park system wanted it to be in the South End. There is endless wildlife from the park which creates an incredible scenic drive and then as you continue this drive you will reach the Needles Highway which features some of themost unique rocks I have seen in this country.
There are many activities for climbing and hiking. here, but just driving around and getting off at the roadside stops makes for a great excursion, although this trip is smaller and miles in distance compared to some of the others on this list, it's still a trip by road to add to your list and if you want some extra miles and one last place to visit, you can visit Devil's Tower in Wyoming, just west of the Black Hills. We didn't get here, but it looks amazing. Next we will road trip through West Texas Bri and I had the pleasure of working with the Texas tourism board on two different campaigns and we were impressed with some of the places we visited and the hidden gems here, not to mention the Crowds are much smaller than the other places on this list because Texas is so big and it's not that it's remote, but it's so far south that it's more of a remote and isolated road trip.
There will still be some crowds, but I'm only saying that in relation to this list. Start this one in Emero, home of the 72-office Big Texan Challenge, Cadillac Ranch and some historic Route 66 south of here, we'll head to P Duro Canyon State Park to explore some caves and then hike the iconic Lighthouse Trail, a 5.8m round trip hike with 500 feet of elevation gain and then we'll continue south to Monahan San. Hill State Park, a very very fun sand dune area, we rented sleds and had an amazing afternoon going up and down the dunes. West of here we will visit Balore State Park for some water fun.
What I like the most here was their big diving board. and then heading northwest from here is Guadalupe Mountains National Park and if you are visiting here the only hike you won't want to miss is Guadalupe Peak which is an 8m round trip hike with 3000 feet of elevation gain that It takes you to the highest point. In the state north of here is Carlbad Caverns over the border in New Mexico, however, we did not have enough time to visit them on this trip here. Anyway, our last destination on this road trip is Big Ben National Park, which is extremely remote but beautiful. park on the border of Texas and Mexico, the best place to visit here is the Santa Elena Canyon and then you can drive the entire scenic drive through the park visiting its various stops along the way.
Last but not least is a Pacific Northwest road trip through Washington and Oregon. I've explored these states several times, but some trips have also been canceled due to wildfires, so it's actually been many years since I've been, so my image archives are a little more limited; However, this is another road trip I don't want to miss and since there are so many internal airports in the area including Seattle, Oregon, Vancouver and San Francisco, I'm not going to go in any specific order, I'll just list a few of my favorites in Oregon, my favorite coastal destinations. They are Samuel Borman's scene in the Corridor, including the natural bridges, Thor's Well stop, and Cannon Beach.
My favorite waterfall hike is Falls, among the countless waterfalls in the state, Mount Hood is also incredible and although I haven't been to Bend Oregon or Crater Lake National Park, these two. They look amazing and are on my list in Washington. You get a little bit of everything from Seattle. As for tours, you must take a scenic helicopter flight over the city and you must take a tour to Puget Sound on Orcas Island to see the orcas. In nature along the coast, Ruby Beach and Rialto Beach are fun destinations for a sunset picnic. While you're here, you can go inland and visit Olympic National Park and the famous hu rainforest.
When heading to the Cascades, an easy stop along the road is Diablo. Lake, but if you want an epic hike, you can climb Cascade Pass on the Sahale Arm above Doubtful Lake, but if you're looking for European vibes, you can visit the town of Lenworth, which is also the center of hauntings, which is probably the hike most beautiful point-to-point I've ever done, it wouldn't be a trip to the Pacific Northwest without visiting Mount Rainer, where you can hike the Mystic Falls Fire Lookout Mount Fremont or climb Rainer itself Washington is also filled with a lot of waterfalls, some of my favorites include Panther Creek Falls and pooo falls and, like Rainer, it wouldn't be a Pacific Northwest road trip without driving through the Columbia River Gorge and exploring all of its various waterfalls, especially the most famous One Maltoma Falls before us. sign out of this video I want to include one last bonus road trip to the video and it will be a road trip to the Appalachian Mountains with a focus on Virginia West Virginia and Tennessee on the Maryland border Virginia and West Virginia is Harper's FY I Grew up in Maryland , so this place has always been special to me.
Then, in Virginia, you will have to visit Shann Andoa National Park. My favorite hikes are Old Rag Mountain and Mount Marshall, and then the entire state on the western edge. Devil's Bathtub, one of my favorite hikes in the eastern half of the country and then into West Virginia, my favorite places are Senica Rocks, Nelson Rocks through Fara and New River Gorge as for ten now we are in the heart from the Smoky Mountains, which You can visit the national park, the fun and vibrant city of Gatlinburg, an underground cave called The Lost Sea Adventure and then my favorite waterfall in Tennessee is Cummins Falls and Ozone Falls.
You can also end this trip in Nashville for some fun and relaxation. To conclude this video, this is one of the most ambitious and destination-filled videos I've ever made, so I really hope you liked it and found some fun ideas for your next road trip, if you haven't already, it would mean very much If you could like this video and subscribe to the channel.
