My goal on my channel is for everyone to find many different types of

home

decor and DIY inspiration, so for this first project. I have eight bins to treasure where I created this beautiful black and white floral box so a while ago we made it in our master bedroom and one of the things we bought was a purple mattress and it came with free purple sheets you know I hate them . sheets but it came with this pretty box and it was too pretty to literally throw away. I've had this for over a year in my room and I haven't done anything with it and the first thing I did was remove that little flap. on the inside because it was just unnecessary, the next thing I did was grab some home decor, some chalk paint, buy a full cart in white around the cover and gave it a nice even coat now I just gave it a layer and it was I'm not really looking for perfection, I just wanted to mute all the colors because I was going to add contact paper on top, so after it was dry I decided to take a popsicle stick and remove the side flaps as you can see here below.

I turned the box over and had some sticker paper from Dollar Tree that I decided to go ahead and measure and cut to size. When the length was right, I decided to grab some duct tape to hold one end while I started. Going over where I needed to cut the slots on the folds, I cut the slots at angles so that they not only fold over the tabs but also over that side piece right there and then I continue doing that around the entire box, okay, next up was It's time to adhere the contact paper, so since I had to remove the original masking tape, I added masking tape to those side tabs because I already had those slots in place that way while I was working on the contact paper, it wouldn't slide.

I started by removing small sections at a time and a warning: if you have small slits and pull too hard on the back of the contact paper you will tear it so be very careful and of course I kept working my way down the back of the box in small sections, be sure to remove any wrinkles or bubbles by hand as you go. As I continued working, I removed some of the contact paper backing because it was getting in the way and making it a little difficult to apply. a little easier then after folding the ends I started folding the sides and cut little slits where needed, after doing that I had to cut pieces of four on the sides and I went ahead and measured them and cut them to the size I wanted I adhere.
Then after both sides had contact paper, I took some hot glue and re-glued the sides I removed earlier, smoothed everything out and then it was time to apply the finish. I had this. cute little cabinet pole I bought at Home Depot, cost about a

sixty or something. I'll be sure to link it below, so I measured the center of that little flap that goes over the lid and the side and Then I decided Oh, mark the points. Now I'm just going to glue this on with six thousand and a little bit of hot glue, so that's why you see me coloring in those dots that way you wouldn't see the white underneath. and it would actually look like maybe there was a small screw in there, but I couldn't use screws because the cardboard was too thin for them, so I let it dry and set and now I have this beautiful black and white

farmhouse

inspired by a small storage box for my shelves oh my gosh guys I am so excited and pleased with how this turned out.
It doesn't look like sheets came in this box. I'm so glad I didn't throw away that box. I really hope you like this. transformation and if you did make sure to like this video so for project number two I have a sewing project and this is probably one of my all time favorites. I created this cute little pleated tablecloth for my table at our last house. and I loved how it turned out now. I bought this fabric in the home decor fabric section at Hobby Lobby and it is a very light khaki color, but it is just as pretty as the upholstery fabric, so now it will be a little more durable for my table.
After placing it, I decided how long I wanted it to hang off the side of the table and I thought five and a half inches would be best because I at least wanted it to hang more than five inches in that straight line. portion and then I wanted to leave a little bit of seam allowance now as you can see the fabric was longer on one side than the other because I got it from the big long spools of home decor fabric so once I figured out the two and a half inches on one side, I went ahead and pinned all the corners to keep it in place.
Now, after pinning the four corners, I had to mark on the other side, where the fabric was longest, the same five and a half inches as it was. created for the other side of the tablecloth, then after making all my markings it was time to cut it the same length around the perimeter and after cutting the entire perimeter to the same length it was time to sew them together. four corners that I had pinned before and after sewing them, I made sure they fit correctly on the table before moving on and then I started making the little ruffled skirt which I folded lengthwise from pieces of fabric, as you can see here , are held with pins. down I made them three and a half inches wide and then I just used my rotary cutter to cut them straight down with the ruler and I had to cut several of these to go around the entire perimeter of the tablecloth, then I went ahead and cut out one side of the three and a half inch strips and I made sure to do this on all of them so I could go ahead and hem that side and use my favorite little clips.
I'll be sure to link them below and then I went ahead and attached all the three and a half inch strips after they were folded together into one long continuous piece and then before I could attach the small pleated skirt part I had to remove the excess of fabric from the four corners, so I went. I went ahead and turned my tablecloth to the right and took one of the three and a half inch pieces and matched the end of that piece together with one of the four corners and made sure both right sides were facing each other.
I didn't want my skirt to look too formal so I basically looked at the space between the little pleats and tried to make them as evenly as possible with each other and then pinned them in place and each time I got to one of the seams with the two different strips. connected, I made sure to fold the seam inside one of the pleats that way, when you turned it over you couldn't see there was a seam there and it looked like a continuous little pleated area and then I just sewed that part together. Then after this, which unfortunately I couldn't record, I took my serger and overlocked those two edges that I was sewing together that way those two fabrics wouldn't fray where they joined and then I continued to turn those folds over and as you can see here, I'm basically sewing them so they don't lift up and finally the moment of truth came, it was time to put it on the table, now I ironed the actual tablecloth and made sure I had those little Meissen pressed plates.
I thought it would look a little better that way. I love how this tablecloth is nice and taut on all four edges. I think it gives it a nice finish and polished look. but at the same time it's very functional because if someone pulls on it, it won't be thrown everywhere, so in project number three I created this beautiful floral sconce in the shape of a glass jar and it has really pretty fairy lights inside. Make this with scrap wood and it is very easy to recreate. Now you can go to your local hardware store to buy the wood we actually had as scrap wood.
They are five and a half inches wide and now we cut them to 12 inches long. after cutting them I took them to my craft room and started sanding those edges because they were pretty rough I didn't want them to splinter and I wanted a nice clean look for my appliqués at first I started using special Minn walnut waxes However, after two coats it was still too light so I had to re-evaluate and get a darker tint. I went with minimal dark walnut waxes and as you can see here it was much darker and deeper and I like this much better here.
Now I can see the difference between the two boards as I like the coastal look and I like the weathered grayish wood type. I decided to add another state on top of the dark walnut to give it a distressed gray feel and used Thane Weathered Gray Nude. um stain which you can see right here, then I use Debi's design journal, the white wax that I use in a couple of other tutorials that I'll go ahead and link to as well and it gave it an even nicer look now. just what I'm doing because this is what I prefer, but you could have left it on the lighter wood, you could have left it with the darker wood stain or do the same thing as well depending on what your tastes are now after applying this wax. just remove any excess and then let it here and then I use Debi's design journal clear wax and this will seal the wood and basically you just apply it with a wax brush and you'll see it actually enriches the color and what it does.
Do you leave it overnight and polish it the next day to hang your glass jars? I just used this white cord that I had on hand, however you can use twine for a bit more rustic look or you can even use these already made. -Made metal hangers which I will follow and link in the description box below if you prefer to have a metal look now. I bought this glass jar at my local Dollar Tree, it's very simple and you can use it with or without a lid. You can also use the ones that actually have the writing on them if you want a more rustic

farmhouse

look now for the fairy lights, if you're lucky enough to get them at Dollar Tree for a dollar get them because most of them actually come for eight. at nine dollars a strand, however I was able to find them on Amazon for only 167 each and I will be sure to link them in the description box below and finally you will need some flowers so you can choose the color you want.
I bought them at Michael's on clearance. Now I decided to go ahead and use the glass jar without the lid for my applique and I used the wire length to be 26 and a half inches and I use a fabric tape measure to get that measurement now. 26 and a half inches gave me enough slack to go around the jar, thread it through the hook at the perfect length and still have enough slack to tie knots on both ends. Now you want to leave the first assembly loose so you can pull. the other side and thread the cord through to make that knot after tying them with a bow and of course if you have more than one of these appliqués you should go ahead and double check and make sure the strings are the same length, now it's Time to Attach the hooks to the wood now because I was working in my craft room.
I had a piece of wood underneath so that every time I drew the holes inside it wouldn't go through and hit my table. Now, once I found my center, I placed the Hitch and used the actual screw to make a notch so I knew where to drill. Now you first want to make an actual hole so that when you decide to insert these screws you don't split the wood and by doing so you ultimately want to attach the hardware. To hang the sconce on the wall now touch on the flowers and I just use the two flower bushes from Michaels that I cut into individual stems so I can create my own smaller bushes so once I decided what my bushes would look like I just used a band elastic to hold them together and then I used a burlap ribbon to cover that little elastic band and just used hot glue to hold them together, then I mounted the wood sconces to the wall, added the glass jars and everything was perfect.
Now, if you like how these appliques turned out, be sure to hit the like button below andsubscribe so you can see more tutorials like this over and over again and don't forget those amazing hooks and those fairy lights are not linked below to where you can find them, a very inexpensive project number four is this beautiful American flag ribbon of course , you can do this with any flag you want. I love the simplicity but elegance of this and it's so easy to make. It's fine for this project. I need a sheet of blue felt from your local craft store and I had these wooden dowels and I cut mine to eighteen and a half inches and stained it dark walnut just like I did with my appliques, now you can do that or you can leave it like that.
As is, you'll need some twine. I bought this at a Dollar Tree and had it left over from another project. You will need hot glue or six mil. I actually ended up using hot glue. You will also need red, white and blue ribbon in any style you want and finally you are going to need an assortment of white buttons, so I went ahead and cut my white and red ribbon into 28 inch long pieces and started by placing the ribbon in the center of the peg and again on both ends now yes I know that the American flag has seven red stripes and six white stripes, so I made sure to make the two end pieces and the middle pieces and then worked my way through.
I went ahead and hot glued them all over to give it extra stability since these were going to be my anchor ribbons, then I started adding the other red stripes making sure they were evenly spaced, then I started adding different types of ribbons to create thicker stripes. I did the same with the white tape and even added some. lace trim, a ribbon tab, that nice farmhouse touch. Here's what it ended up looking like once all the tape was attached, then I turned the dowel and started gluing the ends of all the tape back together so I had a nice clean finish.
I set the stripes aside and then took my piece of blue felt fabric and cut the blue ribbon to place on top of this felt fabric. I made sure to cut it to where it overlapped the ends like that. I didn't see any felt anywhere, once the ribbon was attached I took my white buttons and started placing them along the blue ribbon and created a nice little pattern. I also hot glued them together. I took the blue piece and then glued it onto the wooden dowel with a little hot glue, then made sure I had trimmed all the ribbon on the back and then added one last piece to cover those raw edges to give it a much more cleaner and then added the twine to both ends of the dowel.
I tied knots around them but also added a little hot glue to make sure they didn't slide or fall off. Now this part is optional but I like to do this to prevent my ribbon from fraying if it is with synthetic ribbon. you can just add a little flame towards the end and make sure you don't touch it and it will actually melt and seal those ends for you and make sure it's a synthetic fabric and not something laced like the little lace pieces I didn't use because on Actually I would have burned them and there you have a beautiful American flag for the 4th of July for the next one.
This is probably one of my favorite thrift conversions. I created this beautiful succulent planter from a cheese box I found at my local Goodwill. I use succulents and flowers for my Dollar Tree but you can use any from any store you want so I went to my local goodwill and found this beautiful round cheese box, yes this is where I keep cheese to age and I was so excited because It only cost me two dollars and 92 cents. I love the size, the round shape, the rustic feel it had and once I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to make.
With it, the first thing I did was take a jigsaw and cut off 2/3 of the top. Then I had to take some sandpaper and get rid of all the rough edges and all the splinters. It was a pretty rough wood, so I had to make sure it's safe to work with after sanding, I was going to put that top third back on the form, so I used wood glue to do that. I used hot glue on the back for an immediate bond. that way it held it together while the wood glue dried and then once it was dry I took some clear folk art wax and my wax brush and brushed it all over with this clear wax that way it gave it a little more life by highlighting For the wood color and protective end, I made sure to place the front of the cheese box and all the sides.
You're supposed to let it sit for 24 hours and then come back with a lint-free cloth and Polish it, I love how that wax brought this little box back to life. I loved the way it turned out with that beautiful deep color, so once I got that sorted, I measured the width of the inside of the cheese box and then cut an old foam board I had into that width. I wanted it to fit inside and kept making small adjustments until I got the height right. Once I was happy with the height of the foam board, I used hot glue to hold it in place.
Instead I then lined up my floral foam to make sure I had enough and then hot glued it on and then I decided I wanted to use the leftover succulents I had from my last dollar

tree

hole for this planter and then I had fun arranging them I grouped them in different colors, sizes and textures and I think this is one of my favorite DIYs and I use both the Dollar Tree Moss balls and the loose floral moss to hide any little nooks and crannies that could expose the floral foam. I made sure to add the tallest ones at the back and actually used some of the hairy lavender type bushes to add a couple of stems here and there to give some color and color to the arrangement. then I kept adding where I thought it looked good and since it was very very light all I needed was a sawtooth hanger to attach it to the back and then hang it on the wall and here it is.
I think this is one of my favorite pots. I have done it until now. I think the colors work perfect all year round. I can hang it anywhere and the fact that I don't have to maintain them because they aren't real is a big plus for me, oh when I found out later. Looking online, these authentic ones sell for over sixty dollars on eBay. I guess I should have picked the other one that was there and the site even says red wax for that red wax they put on the cheese. It was great. I'm so happy I did it.
I was able to find this at my local goodwill, from a small cheese box I don't like to a beautiful succulent wall planter. I'd love to know what you guys think about this DIY now for this one. I wanted to show you the meat for now. I bought this. from Facebook marketplace for only 20 dollars and I turned it into a coffee shop and I loved how it turned out and I hope you do too. A few days ago I shared the image of this table you see here that I bought for just $20 on a Facebook marketplace now.
I've been wanting a coffee bar for a long time and thought $20 for an Ikea table like this was perfect to add. my touch of coastal farmhouse and personalize it to my tastes now, as you saw the faucet was. quite water damaged and with a lot of use over the years, however, my husband and I had several, one by fours, left over from a previous project that I thought would be perfect to add to this table now that the table had two bottom shelves, but I just wanted to add wood to the top and bottom, but we used the middle shelf template to mark and cut the wood to the appropriate sizes.
Now, according to the Latin engineer, this is what you do when you don't have a pencil once finished. The wood was cut. I used a jigsaw to notch the corner pieces and then, along with the ugliest pair of shims you can imagine, I glued those slabs with some wood glue to the bottom shelf and then used our nail gun to hold them. then once the bottom shelf was done we did the exact same process on the table top so this is what the tape will look like after installing the wood. Now that we were going for this coastal farmhouse style, my husband chose this beautiful Nantucket blue color. for folk art I use this chalk paint to paint all the black that was displayed on this table, including the two drawers and the shelf which this chalk paint covers very well, if at any point the chalk paint became too thick on my brush, I would spray it with a little bit of water and it actually worked perfectly to leave it nice and smooth on this surface and of course I just wanted to help.
I let the coat dry completely and then proceeded to give it a second coat. Now I wanted this to look worn so after the second coat was completely dry I used a brush to blot some white chipped paint also from folk art in the color Adirondack white and this is really simple all you have to do do is add a little. of paint like a paper plate, dip the brush in, wipe away some of the paint, and then use long strokes to add as much or as little white as you like. If you mess up and add too much, all you have to do is go back.
Once the blue paint dries, this paint is really forgiving. Now, after I was happy with dry brushing, I started sanding it with a sanding block and started to distress it in the areas that would become more distressed over time, like the corners. and the legs I even went a little hesitant along the edges and the shelves too, then it was time to stain the wood and I actually used Home Addict wood stain in walnut color. Now I was super pleased with this product, it was my first time using it and I can't say enough good things about it.
First of all, it's water-based, so cleanup is much easier than using an oil-based stain. Secondly, it hardly has any smell. I can use it inside my house during the cold seasons without any problems, plus it doesn't have that oil so it doesn't feel greasy when you touch it like you do with an oil based dye and it dries pretty quickly, you can see it was very easy to apply. a foam brush and since the color is really rich with just one coat I didn't have to add any other coats or wipe off any excess, it was the perfect amount for the first application, once it was completely dry it was time to add the clear wax I also used clear folk arts wax for this and used it for both the wood and the painted part of the table.
Now you're supposed to brush it, let it sit for 24 hours overnight and then polish it now. What I did notice is that this is a liquid form of wax as I brushed it on in some areas it would get a little thicker or clump up a little now, if you find it's doing that make sure you wipe it off before putting it down. Let it sit overnight because if you decide to polish it the next day it will be a little more difficult to remove. Other than that, it works perfectly fine. That's something I learned working with this wax and thought I'd share now.
Just do it. Make sure you use a lint-free cloth to polish it and then once you've done that, make sure you give it about a week before giving it any heavy use and this is how it turned out in the end. I think it's absolutely beautiful, of course. I still have to add a few touches here and there, a little decor and possibly a shelf above the table, but I am enjoying this beautiful table that only cost me $20 for a Facebook ad. I love how that stain turned out and I also really like how we ended up choosing a color for this table instead of just going neutrals like white, brown, or gray.
I think it adds a nice pop of color, but since there is gray in the paint, it's not overpowering, be sure to give this video a thumbs up. If you enjoy this transformation and if you haven't subscribed yet, be sure to do so so you can see how I decorate this coffee shop. This next project is probably one of my favorite floral pieces. Some of the items are from Dollar Tree, others. from other craft stores, but you can also recreate this using any store you have available, so I don't have pictures of this park, but basically I took one of the glass candle holders from Dollar Tree and glued it with each 6,000 on one of the plates great for candles that are also clear glass, once they were dry I painted them with bright white paint, then you will need these two styrofoam discs.
You also get them in a two-pack at Dollar Tree. You will need these little blocks from the spinning box game that you can find in the toy section of Dollar Tree and then you will need a book. I didn't have any old ones in the exact size I wanted, so I bought this one. one at Dollar Tree for a dollar and it was the perfect size because it wasn't very big, these discs fit perfectly inside the big plate so what you're going to do is place one down and then glue it on. The little pieces of wood on top I use e6000 for this and once they were in place I added theStyrofoam top piece.
Now I made sure to use a little glue to make sure the wooden blocks would stick while the e6000 dried. Then I took my box cutter and started cutting out pages from the small book. Now you can use a pair of scissors for this, but I happened to have a paper cutter. Now I decided to remove all the white pieces from the pages and made sure that each piece of paper was the same size, then I took a regular pencil and started rolling the pieces of paper onto that pencil. Once I got to the end I used hot glue to seal it and once you were done rolling them all up. your little pieces of paper, what you're going to do is take some e6000 and apply it to the outside of the Styrofoam pieces.
Now you don't want to use a lot of hot glue on the Styrofoam. because it tends to melt, that's why I'm using the e6000. What I ended up doing was using hot glue on the small roll to attach it to the next one and hold it in place while the e6000 dried and I did this. After adhering them all together, I added a bit of hot glue to the top, as you see here, that way it held everything together. Then I had some floral foam on hand and I basically cut it to fit the top and also hot glued it on, that way it stayed secure now you can use flowers from Dollar Tree.
I happen to have this little bouquet from Michaels that I bought for five dollars on clearance, so I decided to go ahead and need it. then I just cut the stems with pliers and started arranging my flowers. Then once I was done with the arrangement I took some hot glue and stuck a nice little piece of ribbon around it and that's basically it, it's perfect to put a side table in your house to give as a Mother's Day gift. mint range. You can also use this arrangement as a centerpiece for a wedding, a nice simple spring or even summer wedding, depending on the colors you use.
I think this is absolutely adorable and super stylish, next is a Dollar Tree project but the beads I use are not from Dollar Tree and you can recreate this from items you can find at local thrift stores or on discount items at clearance at your local craft stores. Today I'm doing a Dollar Tree DIY with these Harvest Stemless Candle Holders. I was using these stemmed glass candle holders and bought them in different sizes. Now, using what I had on hand, I got this black satin spray paint I had in the garage, left over from another project, and started spray painting the top. candle holders, you want to make sure to clean them very thoroughly and remove all the stickers and any residue left so that the paint will adhere very well after spray painting them from the bottom.
I flipped them over and then painted them from above. the top and let them dry if you guys are like me and like to spray paint small projects like this at a time. I have a writing spray shelter at home that helps with excess paint, so let's say you live in an apartment or want to do it on your deck like I do and I don't want to damage anything. You know the surroundings of these little shelters are pretty amazing and I'll link them below so you can check it out. I've had mine for over three. years and let me tell you it's been used a lot so it's definitely worth it so once they dried I went back and strung some wooden beads on some baker's twine from Dollar Tree and these will look just like I.
I'm showing you right here. I have 22 beads strung here and these are the beads from my farmhouse Christmas decorations as well as the napkin rings I made for you. I'll link them below and above on the cards so you can check. Let's take this out it's still from the same package and these are the smallest of the three. Now what I'm going to do is string more beads from different areas surrounding this little ring so we're going to take more Baker's thread and we're going to string more beads and I made 11 beads per string and I made a total of 5 now here are the five finished sections now you're going to leave them loose and you're also going to want to leave extra baker's twine on each end of each little strand so once you set those aside you're going to grab the larger candle holder and this time you're going to grab some floral wire and you're going to need it because you'll see In a minute I need a stronger, more rigid grip on this one because of where it's going to go, you're going to string a total of 28 beads for this particular chandelier and while it's face down on the counter you're going to tie it off and we're going to tighten that end of that wire and just wrap it around itself and then just cut off the excess so now you should have an 11 bead strand V and then 2 circles so what you're going to do is take the larger wired circle and start attaching it to it the bead strands and you will want to space them evenly, then once they are attached you will place the candle holder back on the table face down inside the large circle and you will place the small one on top as you see here and you will begin to attach the other end of the string to that smaller bead circle and then you're going to continue to space them evenly as well and then Now we can attach the stems if you want to make it permanent all you do is add a little bit of e6000 to the inside edge right here and then pin it down and you'll have a permanent hold; however, for camera purposes, I did not do this.
I decided I wanted to keep them loose in case I wanted to remove the beads and keep them intact and then wear them later, so it all depends: you can leave them without the beads or you can add the beads to them and they both look beautiful now the beads hang down a little loose on the glass. I don't mind, but if you want them a little tighter, I suggest you remove maybe two beads from the vertical strings of the beads, you know, and it might grip the glass a little better, but it all depends on what you like.
You can do them all with the beads or do them all without the beads. I think both ways they look great. You can also put them on a table as a centerpiece. I decided to use them on a small shelf along with my DIY Dollar Tree Mini Farmhouses and of course remember another great part is that you have options of colors and styles for the top piece and You can spray paint the bottom pieces any color you want. If you want to match your deck speaker for the next project, I'll show you how to make this rustic raffia napkin holder using items that were also from Dollar Tree.
However, you can get raffia at local craft stores and you can use whatever you have. You have on hand for the napkin holder. Alright, for these napkin rings you will use this 6 pack of napkin rings that you can get at your local Dollar Tree. You will also use natural raffia and you can find them in the floral bouquet. section of Dollar Tree and they come three in a bundle, okay, so you're going to undo the little bundles and you're going to get about four pieces of raffia so you can tie them at the end and knot them or you can wrap them. something now, the candelabra is a very bad example.
I just needed something to show you so you could see what I'm talking about. Now what I'm doing is I'm wrapping this around the candle holder and then dividing the raffia pieces into three little bundles so I can start making a braid now when you're doing this quarters make sure you use something that doesn't move like this candle holder again , this is just to show you what I'm doing, but make sure it's something really sturdy that you can pull on the little pieces of raffia as you braid it and just follow the braid all the way to the end, okay, and now we're going to grab your napkin ring after that you made the braid and I swear to you. it's the same type of napkin holder that I just painted white before to do something else and it didn't work and I thought I'd go ahead and use it that way, it doesn't go to waste, so you're going to take your glue gun and start adhering one end of the small braid on the edge of a napkin ring and you will start working now when you get to where the first part started.
I take out the little knot, glue it, then glue the braid over the small end of the braid, then I shift it slightly and start my second row around the napkin ring with the braid and then when I finally get to the end I cut the end of the braid and then I just adhere the little individual pieces like you see here to the end of the napkin ring and then I fold them inside the napkin ring and adhere them on the inside, this helps it from falling apart and of course, here's that spot. I love seeing vintage cutting boards in the kitchen on display, however they can be a little pricey so for this DIY I will show you how to create one and completely from scratch so I went to Hobby Lobby to try it out.
To find some pieces to decorate my kitchen as well as some inspiration for my rustic touches, I found a beautiful long cutting board and it was originally $35 if I remember correctly and it was half price so it's only seventeen, no However, I thought I would address it. Myself, so I went treasure hunting and as you know, my garage never lets me down because I found this unused piece. I grabbed a ruler and discovered that I wanted it 8 inches wide, so I started marking on both sides of it. pieces of wood where I wanted the edges to be, then I started connecting the dots to make the sides.
I then needed to mark the rounded edges on the bottom of the cutting board and all you need is a rounded surface. I use my little bead thing. which I had bought in my last purchase for this and it was actually the perfect size, then I used the ruler again to connect both edges. I did the same thing on the top of the cutting board, but this time I also needed to add the handle. I used my round piece and started out using the ruler, but then ended up loosening the handle to make it a little more rustic and not as rigid.
When I was finally happy with my design, I went out to the garage and started cutting it up. with my jigsaw because the design is very simple, it's very easy for anyone to use a jigsaw to cut this, just make sure you have a jigsaw with a good grip handle. We had a previous one that had a handle that was too thick and we couldn't really get a handle on it very well, so getting around these sharp edges made it a little difficult. This is the second one and it works much better, so if you have been interested in purchasing a jigsaw, I will be sure to add a link to the one we purchased below so you can see it and finally I made the hole in the top of the handle with a drone, at this point the latin engineer took over not because this was the most difficult part of the project but since I was already covered in sanding dust he went ahead and did this for me.
We wanted to give it that old, used look so we made sure to round all the edges which I did, however be sure to tell it to do that. I left the top of the cutting board nice and smooth so after that was done it was time to stain this little bad boy and I used my favorite wood stain my folk art in the color walnut no smell no feels oily. It dries super fast and looks like a normal dye. I love this stuff now, just a quick disclaimer. I won't actually be using this as a cutting board.
This is just for decorative purposes now, meanwhile both wood stain and wax for home decor. The ones I am using are water based and non-toxic, they are not intended for items that will be used for food preparation. Now the wax is very easy to apply. I like to use a lint free cloth and just apply it everywhere and then wipe off the excess right away then I finally picked it up because it was completely dry I took some nautical rope I tied it to the top with a little hole for the handle and then I What I did was use a lighter to remove all the extra hairs and then I sealed the edges of the rope with a little hot glue that way they wouldn't fight and here it is completely finished, perfectly imperfect and I had the best place B for it on my kitchen.
This project can be done in a day as long as you leave the last step which is the wax to cure overnight, don't forget to like and subscribe for more inspiration and I'll see you in the next video until then bye.
