Jun 07, 2021
Hello everyone welcome back to my channel my name is Liz and in today's video I'm going to show you three

different

ways

that you can

make

some teardrop

tray

s so let's go ahead and jump into it so for this

tray

first level wanted to do something. That was pretty sturdy and wasn't going to fall apart. I wanted to

make

something that I could wear all the time and know that my things weren't going to break and the tears weren't going to disappear. just tear it up with hot glue so I wanted to do something a little

different

than the traditional dollar tree teardrop stroke so what I did was go to my local Michaels and picked up a couple of rectangular plaques of their wood. section and these are pretty inexpensive after I bought them I went to my local Lowe's and bought an unfinished wood leg for a table so like a table leg and this was a little over seven dollars and what I decided to do was Cut it into three sections.

I'm just going to use the top and bottom. What I liked about this was that the bottom of the leg already had that screw there, so I asked my husband to help me with this part because Only when it comes to measuring the middle and the drills, I know he can do a much better job so he was willing to help me with this part of my DIY so I bought the 9 by 12 board for 3.99 and then got all seven. for plate nine for 279 and all we had to do was find the center of each plate and drill a hole now for the bottom plate.

More Interesting Facts About,

We wanted to make sure the hole didn't go all the way through, so we drilled just enough to put the screw in the bottom of that leg and then found the center of the smaller plate and drilled a hole through the entire plate. Now my husband drilled a pilot hole in the top of that leg where you are going to attach the second plate. just so the wood doesn't split so the screw that will attach the plate to the leg we want to make sure it's flush and not sticking out so my husband just took a larger size drill bit. make a countersunk hole for the screw to go in there, then all I'm going to do is screw the plate to the table leg and then all I have left to do is glue the top of the leg to the top . part of my tray, I guess technically this is the bottom of the leg, but all I'm going to do is take some clear wood glue and then I took my hot glue wood glue to attach this to the top , so the artisan sent me some paints that I was very excited to try, this is actually the first time I have tried their paint and I was pleasantly surprised, so they sent me a package of these paints and I grabbed this cream color and then this color burnt sienna I finished.

Then I'm going to change the burnt sienna to a chocolate brown, but you'll see that in a second, but I'm going to thin my cream paint because I wanted it to be more of a white wash instead of a completely opaque paint and I just went through and painted the entire piece in this cream. This tray obviously has only two levels. You could make a three-tier tray in this exact style. I decided to make two because I feel like you can add taller things to

your

two levels. trays and you can use

your

three obviously unless you are going to make your three tier tray very tall but I liked how tall this two tier tray was from the bottom to the top it just allows me to add more things that can be a little taller than I could for my three tier trays, so I wanted to give a wood white wash look to this.

I went in with my burnt sienna and did the same thing, just added a little bit of water to it, but it turned out to be too orange than I wanted so I decided I was going to try it and just wet a napkin in there and then started applying it like it was a stain, but as you can see just for my taste, it was too orange, so I ended up wiping it off as best I could with a paper towel and I liked that it all blended together, but I still wanted it a little deeper and a little cooler than this orange color, so I came back.
I did it with my cream and then I took this brown color from Archaeza and I mixed it with a little bit of water and then I took a sponge and then I started applying this color all over and then I took a paper towel and I wiped it off like you would do a stain and I really like the effect it gave me when mixing all kinds of mixtures and I really liked this technique, so this is what I did on the entire tray now to give it an extra touch. I took that. Same cream paint on a brush and I just dry brushed it all over.
I started with just a little bit and worked my way up and I really love the way it turned out after I finished painting, I think it looks great. distressed, rustic and worn, yes I have a piece of distressed wood that used to be painted cream and I really like the way this tray turned out below. I wanted to show you how I

decor

ate my tear tray. I'm al

ways

kind. Instead of changing things, I put something on and then decide to take it off and put something else in there, so I always play with the placement of everything until I get it the way I like it, guys. are new here hey my name is liz and i love all things diy and crafts if that's something you like consider subscribing to my channel by clicking the button below and also be sure to sound the your guys notification bell so you can be notified every time I upload a new video, you can also find me on Instagram and Facebook where you can stay updated on my craft kits that I sell on my website for the next one.
Now I wanted to use a teardrop tray made from terracotta pots. I've been really inspired by succulents this season and I wanted to show you how to make a really cute

tiered

tray to

decor

ate your succulents, so I went to Michael's and bought all these terracotta pots and saucers for them. I think they are called and I must not have looked well enough inspected or I just wasn't as careful with them when I brought them inside, but both of my pots had some cracks on the sides, so I tried to prevent it from cracking more, I just added a little glue inside and let it dry.
I have no idea if that will work or not, that was my best guess and I probably could have gone online and done some research on it, but this is what I did, so you'll need two pots and three saucers, you'll go from largest to largest. small with the saucers and then the same with the pots, one large and one small, obviously you can combine them all when you are inside. I'm going to the store to see which ones you're going to need and I decided to give all of these a more dry brushed look so I grabbed that same arteza cream paint and my chip brush and started dry brushing and giving it a rustic whitewashed feel To these pieces, the good thing about these is that the terracotta pots are also quite economical, for the four-inch pot I paid one dollar forty-three and then for the three-inch pot I paid one dollar nineteen and then, for the plates, ranging from one dollar and four cents to 80 cents and 55 cents, were very economical.
Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take my larger pot and I'm going to To take some clear gorilla glue, I'm going to add it to two spots on my pot and then I'm going to put my hot glue back on the other two sides to get that immediate hold. and long term and then just line it up in the middle as best you can and hold it in place until it's done. Now for my second row, I'm going to take the medium sized saucer and then do the same glue with that clear one. gorilla glue and then my hot glue around the edges of the bottom of this pot and then I'm going to line up my saucer as best I can in the middle and join them together and now for the last one, you're going to do the same thing, all that What you are going to do is place the smallest saucer at the bottom of the pot so that the bottom of the saucer reaches the bottom of the pot.
I tried to line them up as evenly as possible so they would be nice and centered now I'm going to do the exact same thing to attach this to the top of my tray. I'm going to take a little bit of that clear gorilla glue, a little bit of hot glue, and then I'm going to center it in the middle. part of my tray and that's all you'll have to do. I went to Michaels again and picked up a ton of his succulents they had. They had so many that they were 40 off so they were a great deal.
I bought them. for only 1.79 I bought some, most of them were 2.99 but I thought they were really fun and I love these succulents hanging from the sides. I just think they are so beautiful, so I was very excited to buy them. and I just filled my entire tray with succulents. I just played with the arrangement. I also got some of this type of succulent greenery that was mixed in with the succulents at my Michaels and I would just tear a little stem off of that and put it in. that around the succulents just to add a little more texture and I really love all the colors here and I love the way it turned out and then I also picked up these succulent bags that come with eight succulents and they were 4.99 with 40 off and I thought they were so cute they don't have stems so obviously you can add stems if you want but I thought they were perfect to sit on my teardrop tray like this and yeah I just love it this is my new favorite piece in my

home

in right now, it just gives me all those spring and summer vibes and since I live in a desert, these succulents are pretty perfect and the last thing I do is just cover them with a candle. some succulents around that candle and that's it for this

tiered

tray and now for our last tiered tray, honestly this can be used in a few different ways.
You can use this as a tiered tray, as I'm going to show you in today's video. You can use it alone as a couple of different bands, pair them together or use them separately in two different places, either way it will look very cute, so let me show you how I did it, so again I picked up these wooden pieces from Michael's and I. I bought this square piece of wood that was 249, but I bought it for a dollar 99 with a 20 off coupon and then these rectangles of wood normally cost 99 cents, but with that 20 off coupon I bought them for 80 cents and then I grabbed a peg.
What I had in my stash I cut into four equal pieces so that they were all the same size. I'm going to use them as feet and then I grabbed four large wooden beads that I can use as feet on my larger square. so I'm going to take that paint and paint both pieces completely. What I really liked about this paint is that you only have to apply one coat, the coverage was really great so it saved me a lot of time from having to go in and do several coats, I felt like one coat was definitely enough to give quite a coverage complete my pieces.
I will link to arteza in the description box below. They also gave me a coupon to give to all of you for 10 off, just type liz. Moore and you'll get 10 percent off your purchase so I'll link to Arteza in the description box below so I just grab my hot glue and I'm going to start assembling my feet into my pieces so I used the beads of wood for my largest piece and then those pegs will go into my rectangle. I wanted it to be quite tall to give that different height with the bottom tray and the top tray.
Now the nice thing about this is that you don't necessarily have to use these. together you could use them in separate pieces and just use them as risers or you can pair them like this to make more of a tiered tray, that's what it will look like now in the end. I felt like something was missing. and I wasn't sure what exactly it was so what I decided to do was take my Marteza cream paint and I just dry brushed both pieces and I actually like this a lot better. I feel like it gives it that terracotta color. of the terra cotta pots and dry brushing until white so they definitely match better than just plain copper and then I'm just going to add my decorative pieces to my trays and that's it for this DIY and that's it for today's video .
I hope you enjoyed it, let me know which version of the tear tray you liked in the comments below, don't forget to subscribe before you leave, give this video a big thumbs up if you enjoyed it and I'll see you around. in my next goodbye
