I made other things with finds I found at the thrift store, including a bread

maker

at a thrift store, an ice cream maker at a thrift store, and I paid 6.99 for it. I'm going to remove this sticker because once it gets hot it will probably stay permanently and darken. It's a good deal, so it was manufactured several years ago. Let's see if there's a date here. There isn't. This appears to be in excellent condition. It still has the original small tie. It still has the cover on the plug and we opened it from the inside. It doesn't even look like it doesn't look like it's ever been used, so this.

More Interesting Facts About,

thrift store twinkies maker homemade custom twinkies...

It didn't come in its original box and it didn't include a recipe instruction manual, but when I posted this on Facebook, many of you beautiful beauties said that you too had one of these machines and then sent me copies of your instruction manual, so that's how it was. Absolutely wonderfull. I clearly remember as a kid seeing a double pack of twinkies that you could buy like that in the supermarket because they were always next to the chocolate cupcakes, which were my favorite. I always bought the hostess's chocolate cupcakes and didn't even bother with them. the twinkies because there's no chocolate involved, but I remember seeing the double pack, but when I went to the supermarket all I could find was a 10 pack, no little twinkies, none of that maybe in a convenience store, I don't know , the twinkie experts weigh in. tell me tell me can you?

You don't bring the twins anymore. Don't know. Okay, let's make the dough. Do we need a stick of butter at room temperature? I cut this so it heats up faster and we're going to whip that up. with a little bit of sugar, okay, spatula, so it's half a cup of sugar, mix this with a hand mixer, here we go, it's going to be a little noisy, take it easy, it seems a little quick, one egg yolk , look at that beautiful one, Wow! There's everyone, okay, let's use this, okay, and then we'll add two eggs also at room temperature, one, two, two teaspoons of vanilla, one shake, all together, one and a half cups of all-purpose flour, half a teaspoon of salt. and baking powder how much baking powder a teaspoon of baking powder baking powder see you later see how much soda the powder was oh under the kettle a teaspoon of baking powder mix this up a little bit and then I'm going to add my three quarters cup of milk the rest of this we can use the spatula so now we're going to preheat the machine and when it turns green it will be ready so let it go and I think to make it easier to fill I'm going to use a pastry bag without tip, I'm going to clip the end with a paper clip here to keep everything from spilling out, hopefully, and I'm just going to fill this up.

I think this will make things easier especially since I'm going to fill my twinkies with some interesting fillings, I'm going to make the original of course which is just the cream filling but I figured why not have a little fun so I think putting the dough in a piping bag will help with that. process this hasn't turned green yet oh it turned green thanks twinkie maker okay I have some oil and a silicone brush and I'm going to grease everything here really well, it looks like it's a non-stick coating but the instructions specifically say for grease everything so I'm greasing it so I have some fillings that I've already prepared.
I'm going to make a hot dog twinkie. I'm going to make a pizza twinkie. I'm going to make a snickers twinkie. I'm just going to fill this up, I'm just going to do three simple ones, this one right here, a piece of hot dog right in the middle, cover it with more dough, then I'm going to do another half and put a piece in there. of string cheese in the middle and that will be my pizza along with some of these little pepperonis right here, look at these pepperonis, aren't they the cutest? A little more dough, a snickers quarter, sweep right in the middle, on top. with more dough now we're supposed to close this and cook it for four to seven minutes I'm going to check it after four minutes to see how they are we're going to use a toothpick and when it comes out clean I know our little cakes are ready okay we'll see in a few minutes, ah, shut up, okay, it was four minutes, let's check how they are, oh, look how much they've puffed up and cooked, okay, let's give this a little push, definitely, oh, I touched the hot dog.
I think so, they still feel a little soft in the middle, so let's give them a couple more minutes, six minutes, let's take a look at these. They definitely feel like cake when I've seen videos of people trying to get them off. It's a little difficult, but I think there is an easy answer. I'm going to unplug this rather than fight and try to get them out and risk ruining my twinkies. I'm going to close this and turn it upside down, oh, a perfect twinkie, yeah. I feel like the count, so I'm going to transfer that to my baking sheet.
Two perfect twinkies, oh yeah, okay, where's my toothpick? This one wants out, just a little persuasion here. Three perfect Twinkies, this is great, these are really turning out. better than I expected, okay, now I'm transferring them to oh yeah, oh no, now they're all mixed up, now I don't know which ones are which. Wow this is going to be a bit like twinkie roulette or something so this was a snickers bar they look really stinky I'm impressed now let's prepare our filling I have three tablespoons of room temperature butter along with an equal amount of cream shortening these together now we're going to do it slowly add a cup of powdered sugar we're going to beat this for two minutes okay now we're going to gradually add a cup of corn syrup that was really good I think that's it our filling, it's kind of a cross between frosting and frosting.
Although it looks a little more like frosting whenever I think of the filling inside a twinkie, although I think of something really light and fluffy, a little more like whipped cream, well, this seems a little more like a seven-minute frosting , so apparently this machine came with a cream filling, but I'm going to use a pastry bag with a small round tip as a substitute. It should work fine. Now for the fun part, we're going to fill the cakes, so here's an original twinkie. You can see that the cream has been injected into three spots on the bottom of the cake, so I'm going to do the same with my pastry bag.
Here I'll use a toothpick and pre-drill some holes here. They feel quite different from the originals. I just squeezed the originals which feel very soft and these have a slightly harder crust. In fact, I'm going to use the back of the toothpick to widen the hole a little so that the pastry tip will actually fit. I'm going to inject some cream in there. I can't really tell when it's full, so I'm just giving it a good squeeze, scraping off a little bit of that excess and there's a stuffed twinkie, so on to the next one. In one I'm going to add some sliced strawberries to see if I can get a piece of strawberry in there, the strawberry is basically filling the hole so I'm going to make holes in the middle to put the cream in, inject and finally we have our pizza. so for that one, I'm going to fill it with some pizza sauce, so there we have it five different twinkies, pizza, hot dog, snickers, strawberry shortcake and original, yeah, a little personalized twinkie star, now let's go ahead and Let's try these.
So if you compare side by side, the

homemade

version is a little narrower, a little shorter, but pretty similar in color, but I immediately noticed that there is a difference in texture. The original twinkie is much softer and feels a little lighter, and the

homemade

one is a little crispier open the original to show you what it looks like inside there is the classic very white frosting in the middle it's actually more like a cream is very light let's try it here we go itadakimasu very sweet, light and fluffy texture with a cream filling that is more like a cold milkshake, it is fluffy and a little sweet, a little vanilla, I almost taste a kind of flavor lemon chiffon, but I don't think there's lemon here, it's just my imagination, but it has the texture of a chiffon cake. spongy with a little bit of chew and the filling is very very soft and fluffy a little bit sticky very sweet with a slight vanilla flavor so there's the very very soft cake let's compare that to the homemade cream filled version now. open this up and see how we did it in the middle oh, there's not much cream filling definitely not like the original in terms of having it nice and centered and fluffy and present, this one has kind of a stickier texture, it's a little more transparent , it's not as opaque, white and shiny, so let's try it, here we go, so it tastes and feels very, very different.
The crumb of the cake is much denser, although it is like a yellow cake, but compared to the original, it is much more similar. a chiffon or an angel food cake that is actually very light, this one is much more like a yellow cake, denser and almost has the consistency of cornbread because the outside is a little crunchy, I shouldn't say crunchy, but it has more a kind of baking. a little more like when you have a brownie rim, it's a little more cooked on the outside and the filling is completely different, it's a completely different texture and in terms of a texture experience you don't really notice it at all, it tastes a a little more sweetness, but there's not this kind of light fluffy interior like you get in the original, very very different, it's not unpleasant, it's tasty, it's just not really a twinkie, let's try the strawberry shortcake, let's open it that filling, it's a little disappointing.
There's a little bit of strawberry in there, but I can't really see it in cross section, but let's try it. I like that really classic combination again. The texture of the cake is wrong, but that combination of sweetness. Strawberry pie, mmm, now let's try this one that's our pizza, I'm going to cut this one because it has a little bit of cheese on it, so let's see how we did it, it's actually pretty fun, so we have a layer of melted cheese, we have a little bit of pepperoni and a little injection of sauce, let's try it definitely pizza flavors, we have pepperoni with mozzarella cheese, a little bit of sauce and that part of the crust tastes like sweet cornbread, it's actually a great combination, a little dry, although I think a little more sauce would be enough. will be better, let's try the hot dog version not quite centered, but there is definitely a hot dog in the middle, okay, let's try it mmm, that's great, in fact it's my favorite so far, it's like a hot dog, the cake It's not too sweet and In fact, it goes very, very well with a salty hot dog in the middle, great, great, great, small, quiet, puppy, corn, dog, I love it and this one got a little crunchy on the bottom here, really great texture contrast, a little crunchy, okay, so here?
It's the snickers bar version, okay, let's cut that one out now, that's the satisfying center, look at that kind of melted gooeyness, I could see a little bit of chocolate coming out, okay, I like how much filling is in there and I I like it to be centered. Well, let's try it. I'm a big fan of Snickers bars, so there's no reason why I shouldn't like it. The proportion between cake and chocolate bar is perfect. I love this one. This and the hot dog are definitely my. favorite, your ultimate goal is to create something that is similar to a twinkie in terms of texture and flavor.
It really doesn't work. It makes little cake bars that are fun to bake and fill. Yes, it could definitely be used too. this to make small tortillas, I can imagine tortilla sticks or something like that. Thank you all very much for joining me. I hope you enjoyed it.
