- Have you ever wanted to buy a nice

keyboard

? One that you can customize with firmware and hot-swappable keys and everything? The new Keychron K8 Pro has almost everything you need. For those of you who don't know, Keychron is a

keyboard

company and a lot of you in the comments always say, "Hey, check out Keychron." And you are right. I agree with you. I love Keychron. I think they are a great company, especially if you want something that is a little higher end but still not enthusiast level. He's just a solid choice and someone I usually recommend to friends for anyone who doesn't want to wait more than six months to eventually have a group.

They have a lot of features advertised on the box. They have screwed stabilizers, hot-swappable PBT keycaps. I think they are double shot. VIA, QMK, Bluetooth 5.1. I love that sound. Great, they have a little guide here. A customizable open source keyboard for maximum productivity. So yeah, here's our board, it's a TKL. However, before we dig deeper, let's take a look at what else is in the box. We have a cable. And they have like a right angle connector. In fact, I wish more places made them because it looks nice and classy, esp. I think these guys have a side connector.

More Interesting Facts About,

His is on the side, so it will look great if you pull it right out. We have a screwdriver that is really tiny. We have our other Windows keys, like Alt and Windows and so on. This already has the Mac layout. And keycap and switch puller. I think that's all. I don't think there is much. And then an instruction book. Extra keys, warranty, VIA. Wow! However, they actually tell you how to use VIA. Many people in the mechanical keyboard community love customization. And the fact that they included

this

for anyone who hasn't used VIA before is pretty cool.

Honestly, I didn't expect that. So here is the board. Well, the design itself is fine, but I don't like

this

edge of the metal here. Honestly, at this point, I'd rather remove this extra lip. But otherwise you end up with this tray, I would prefer the case to go all the way up and cover all of this. So you would have a layer of metal that goes over here. It's aluminum on top and then you have a steel plate with the bottom made of plastic. And it's OK. It doesn't really flex because of all the metal in it.

But if you're looking for a much heavier build or something with a bar on the bottom and all that, it's not going to be at that level, 2,865 pounds. So try three pounds, which isn't too heavy. Then you have feet. I'm always a fan of feet, especially with two modes. You'll make the big ones from the small ones for different writing angles. One minor quality issue that I'm not crazy about is that you can see how there's a connection here in each of the corners. So it's not a giant piece of soft aluminum for the top. You have a Windows and Mac switch and then you have a BT off or a cable.
It's a little thick at the bottom. That's because there's a big battery here. And I think it's 4,000 milliamp hours, which gives you something like 100 hours of time if you have Bluetooth running and RGB on. So that's not bad. Like 100 hours is a long time. Oh, I turned it on. Hey, look at all the RGB. The tab works, turns the tail light on and off. FNQ, go through the modes, sweet. As you can see, there is a lot going on on this board and they have a little ARM processor built in. It's probably to handle everything going on, like the RGB, the Bluetooth connection, the QMK firmware.
One small issue with the keys is that they don't glow, which is fine for some people, but in the dark it's much easier to type if you can see the light under the keys. The writing experience is not bad. These are just Browns, the new Gatorade Jeep Browns. And I like them. I'm not crazy about them. I feel a little itchy. I think they are pre-lubricated, but you could go with a heavier lube. They are only brown. One little thing to note that I completely forgot about until I turned off the switch is that it's all RGB facing south as well.
So if that matters to you, it's a big plus for some people, a lot of people don't like north facing RGB because they find that it doesn't shine and it doesn't shine at all. Therefore, you can fully assemble it with just a white taillight using one of any of the three switches they offer. And they're your stereotypical red, blue, or brown Gatorade options. It's 89 dollars. It's a good deal. That said, this one has an aluminum frame and full RGB backlighting. So this is a 110. Getting something like this for $110 is a better buy, at least in my opinion, than buying Corsair, Logitech, Razer, or any other major gaming brand. brand that is manufacturing its own mechanical keyboard.
Those guys are catching up a little bit in terms of features like hot swapping and adding foam and stuff to the board, but they're not there yet. Like me, I will never tell anyone to buy a Corsair board. Sorry, privateer. I like many of your products. I just don't like your keyboards. - Look at that, friend. - Alright. - It's very sexy. - Alright. - Jono simply has a low level of thinking. - I also love things. - As long as your throat looks at me, oh baby. This one, the most expensive, has a nice layer of silicone on the bottom.
We saw the same thing on that mountain board: a big layer of silicone on the bottom. And I wonder if, honestly, we're going to start seeing more enthusiast boards that are like complete kits that come with a big layer of silicone for the base. And then you have some foam under the PCB, I think, and screws and stabilizers, which is really nice. If you want to change them if you have your own cherry style stabilizers, you can do so. Their quality is fine. They probably aren't trimmed or lubricated or anything, but it's not bad. It's a pretty good keyboard.
I really like it and we should probably plug it in and try writing on it. But first, a word from our sponsors Linksys. Thanks to Linksys for sponsoring today's video. It's basically the average length of TKL, of which I don't know the exact centimeters, but it's about one in half a banana. It's almost a full-size keyboard, but with 10 fewer keys. So the keys like normal keys are fine, but the space bar makes a very distinctive sound, like it's actually a pretty distinctive knock. And I noticed it every time I pressed the space bar when typing in this test. I am very torn. I love the way the space bar sounds.
I just wish the rest of the keys sounded more like that too. It's probably just the way the stabilizers are lubricated and stuff. So download, Show Layout tab, on. Upload my file Jason. Jason V2, great. We have like four layers that we can alter. They're already a little pre-set, but it's nice. You can just remap keys to whatever you want, create a bunch of macros and lighting and things like that. Oh, and there are also a bunch of presets like Mid, Macro, Special, QMK Lighting. You can use all of this or just customize it completely. I usually don't bother personally, but it's there, it's an option for anyone who wants a good

wireless

keyboard, who wants a good hot-swap mechanical wireless keyboard with QMK and VIA functionality.
This is basically like this. They say it is the first in the world. I don't know if that's 100% true. I really haven't been able to find anything else that is comparable to that point where they have all the same features. So, yeah, maybe, honestly, if they can do that, then I hope we see more of them in the future, both from enthusiastic boards and from other companies because I respect all these other companies and I just wish they would continue a little better with the time. Especially at $110, especially if you don't need an N-pad and especially if you need Bluetooth and it works with Windows and Mac, no problem.
Right out of the box, there is a small switch on the side. The things that just do it all. I love this. I would probably change the keycaps. I'd probably change the switches too. That's not difficult when you have hot swapping. Like it's cool. I like it a lot. I don't want one, but I wouldn't be mad if someone gave it to me for Christmas or something, it's cool. There you have it guys. That's the K8 Pro from Keychron. Really nice keyboard. I think it's great value for money and if you want to check out other shorts check out the Logitech one I made on the Pop keyboard.
It was a lot of fun, it wasn't the best keyboard but it was an anesthetic, they tried and they did it. So check it out.
