This phone case is ILLEGAL...

Feb 27, 2020
Before we begin, I want you to know that the product I'm reviewing today is

illegal

in Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. But it's still quite interesting. Let us begin. I've talked a lot about

phone

protection on my channel. Today we are going to talk about personal protection using a stun gun

case

for your iPhone. This particular

case

can protect your

phone

, obviously, it's also a power bank and it has 7 million volts of crippling protection, which is pretty crazy. So

this

particular case is the teal case and right out of the box it is super thick.

And check out

this

warning: “This product can cause serious injury or potentially death. Please read the user manual before use. “Never leave it unattended near minors.” That's probably pretty important. "Use it only if you are in serious danger." I like that they mentioned checking local laws before carrying a stun gun because they are

illegal

in several states, as I mentioned above. But as always on my channel, we try a lot of different things, so we'll test the features of this stun gun and then take it apart and see how it works. It comes with a screen protector and the case is detachable which is great.

More Interesting Facts About,

this phone case is illegal...

I'm going to go ahead and slide my perfectly good iPhone 8 into this case, I'll slide it into the case and it should start charging. So I pressed this button on the back twice and these LEDs lit up, and now the phone is charging here in the top corner. So that part of this case really works. Oh man! There's the stun gun. That's pretty scary. Okay, so to activate the stun gun part, there are actually two security guards. First of all, I have to activate this switch up here. And then I also have to slide these metal prongs out from the top of the phone, which then releases 7 million volts of electricity through those two points.

One thing I should mention is that when you switch it to Taser mode, it stops charging your phone. So you won't be able to physically defend yourself while charging your phone at the same time. There's no multitasking, whether it's attacking people or charging your phone. You have to choose one or the other. So even though there are 7 million volts pulsing through these two needle-like connections at the tip, it's not the voltage that kills you. Not much amperage flows with those volts. So technically, I wouldn't mind getting zapped, but remember that this is illegal in quite a few states.

So... let's see what happens. Ready? I don't want to do this anymore! Oh boy. Well. So I'm in... okay, I'll do it this time. So now we're locked in Taser mode with the safeguard. The metal tips are stuck. Yuck!!! I could feel it all over my fingertips... like it made my fingers curl at the end, and I could feel it probably... oh, I get goosebumps all over my arm... I could feel it all over this range right here. That was crazy. Okay, let's not do that again. Now I vote for opening this up and seeing how the external batteries work inside, and seeing how these bits of doom come out of the case every time.
I've been thinking a lot about electric car batteries lately after listening to a book about Elon Musk by Ashley Vance. Audible is kind of a way to occupy my time productively while driving or traveling. One of Elon's quotes that caught my attention the most is: “If other people work 40 hours a week and you work 100 hours a week, even if you do the same thing, you will achieve in four months what it takes them a year to achieve.” . It's something quite motivating. Audible is one of my ways to motivate myself to become a better person. Audible offers a free audiobook with a 30-day trial membership.
So if you don't know who Elon is, now would be a good time to check him out. Just go to Audible.com/jerryrig. Or even text “jerryrig” to 500-500 to get that free book. J E R R Y R I G. And thanks to Audible for supporting my content and sponsoring this video. As I mentioned earlier, this one also has an external battery charger, like it charges your phone while you use it. And it's loaded with a micro USB port that charges this battery right here, which is 3800 milliamp hours. And then from there it goes to the proprietary Lightning port that Apple uses with all of its phones.
So I'm going to disconnect that proprietary Lightning port. Obviously, a normal battery can't produce 7 million volts, so there has to be a couple more components inside that do that. So a transformer can increase the voltage to that 7 million we were talking about. And all of those circuits are probably inside this box here. There could also be an oscillator that fluctuates the current and produces that hum you hear on the back. And a capacitor that actually stores the electricity and releases it in that pulse pattern. That all happens here inside this box while sending out the electrodes at the top, and the electrodes can slide in and out just like that.
It's a pretty sweet setup. At the risk of receiving a new shock, I vote for disassembling this component, because it is the part that most cell phone cases do not have. But we can't seem to get in because it's a solid block of plastic. I imagine this is where we place the transformers, the oscillator, and the capacitors that allow the electrodes to attack someone. So it can't be taken apart because it's a solid block of plastic. Overall, this is a pretty interesting device. I've never seen anything like this that, you know, protects you physically as well as your electronic devices.
Now, as for the damage it can cause, it was more of, I would say, a distraction for me. Getting electrocuted was a surreal experience and, you know, I definitely don't want it to happen again, but it wasn't an immobilization thing. Like I could use my hand right after. To be honest, it was the sound that was the biggest deterrent. That sound, coming from the voltage of these electrodes, made me not want to get close to those two points. So that would be the biggest deterrent if I were a thief and I was going to rob someone.
Just say. I'll leave a link to all of this in the video description and be sure to check out Audible for your free book. It is a service that I use regularly. Audible.com/jerryrig. Let me know if you want 7 million volts lowered in the comments. And thank you very much for watching. I'll see you there.
