This is why people don't buy EVs...it's just not good enough !

May 30, 2021
to get here in reverse, so I'll go back to near Cheltenham and try to find that shell. The charger charges for 50 minutes and that should get me home, so I'll be on the go for a couple of hours and I'm about a mile from my charging stop. I still have 61 miles of range, but I'm going to stop here for maybe 45. Minutes to 50 minutes, interestingly, I've arrived at the exact same charging stop I used on my outbound trip, but I've been thinking that many car owners EVs that make the same trip regularly probably will. By doing that, they'll probably know where the fast charges are that are easy to access on the right network, um and um, that aren't too inconvenient to stop at and maybe plan around them instead of taking the path.

The shared luck of waiting for the sat nav to say yes is here. I really hope now that there aren't any cars plugged into

this

charger because I've got it stuck in my head and some

people

are like, oh, you know, it's nice that you can. Take a 45-minute break on your commute. Drink a coffee. Relax, especially on a long trip. Well, that's all well and

good

, but I can't help but think that it means I'll be home 45 minutes later. I would have done it if I didn't have to have a burden. I know that's probably not the way to look at it, but that's certainly how I'm going to look at it and the

good

news is that the cargo bay is empty.

Hooray, stop there! I need to tell you a little story the week after recording

this

video, I took the exact same trip but I didn't have my cameras with me. I entered the same garage with the goal of stopping at the same loading stop and literally when I entered. Someone plugged their car in to charge for an hour, so I sat there thinking that now means two hours of charging. I went to the zap map and found a 50 kilowatt ecotricity charger about 30 miles away on the m5 at a service station. I drove there plugged in, went in to get a coffee, came back out and the charging had failed for some reason, the charger kept disconnecting the car.

I tried three times but this is the problem. Absolutely terrible ecotricity. It is not maintained. Very, very poor. Now I'm stuck. With the problem, I then went to zapmap again and found another 50 kilowatt charger and the challenge of going to Wales is there with a lot of 50 kilowatt charges and finally I found one that was actually hidden in the corner of a parking lot, um but it was on a different charging network than all the apps I had so I had to download the app, sign up, upload my card details and finally pay the charge, they charged me and I was on my way but that's the problem. the charging infrastructure issue is completely rubbish anyway let's go back to the movie I see I'm getting this it was literally real time it didn't take long and I know EV owners are going to watch it's charging a car.

It's really not that hard now, with a full charge, it says here, I have an hour and nine minutes. I'm not going to wait an hour and nine minutes because let me close the door, I'm

just

going to quickly check the ways to see how far my trip is to the barn how many miles do I need to basically do 111 miles, so as soon as I have about 140 250 miles of range, I'm going to keep going, I think I'm going to go grab a coffee anyway, see you shortly and for 43 minutes it was 36 kilowatts of power, I think I have

enough

range to get home, he says.
Hopefully let me quickly check the Misat navigation system, now I doubt you can. to see this but I'm home I got home with 16 miles of range left the car has been having an absolute slide for the last 30 miles ago charge me charge me but I'm home I think I consider it perfectly fine I desperately need a pee and a glass of wine , good morning, join me, it's obviously the next day and I

just

did something very important. I just dropped the puppies off at the groomer so yeah, I came back last night and had 20 miles of range.
I left, so my time at that charging stop is judged perfectly, although I have to admit I probably did a little too perfect because I had a little range anxiety the whole way home. I knew it had a positive delta of about 30 miles, but I didn't know how accurate the range estimator was on this car and if it would actually end up being that or if it would suddenly go from 30 miles to zero like some cars do, but it wasn't. so bad, I think The main disappointment for me from a car point of view is that the range of this car is not what I expected.
I thought it would be 230 to 250 and, you know, it'll only go 180 miles on a full charge and I know a lot of that has to do with temperatures, but I still think for a car in this class it should go somewhere between 250 and 300 miles because the travel profile of these cars probably wants to do that. It's okay for a city car, like an electric mini or e-golf, to only go 150 miles because most of the time you'll just be going to the city and back or doing short drives, but with this car you'll want to go longer. trips, so I think the range is disappointing, but I'll save all my other comments about the car for my full review coming to the channel very, very soon.
I think longer trips and longer and longer trips in a car, I think you would be more in tune with it and less stressed about it and I guess you start to know that you can really plan and not worry too much about it when you're new to it. evs. You're always worried: are you going to find a charging stop? Is it going to work? Will there be a car plugged in? You know, I think the Shell station was brilliant and the charger was great, but there must be, I don't know. I know eight to ten gas pumps and one electric charging station, so if you walk up and there's already a car plugged in and they just plugged it in and they'll be there for an hour, your one-hour charging stop suddenly turns into two hours. less. one and that's the challenge for me, being an electric car owner, is that you know and I guess Tesla is right when you go to a range of Tesla Supercharging charges, like I usually know half a dozen, maybe 10, maybe more in some cases, so you often have that backup to fall back on.
I hope you enjoyed. I'd love to know what you think and what you think about the kind of uh the last two. days um, like I said, there are a lot of things I love about this car, but at the same time it challenges me and I can't wait for the full review because at least I have a lot to talk about, but for now I'm going to drive home and wait for let the puppies at the groomer end so let me know what you think, if you liked this give me a thumbs up, comments below are always welcome and if you haven't already.
Subscribe to Petrified for lots more content to come and like I said there will be a full review of this e-tron on the channel very very soon and I still have another week with it so I'm sure I have a lot of learning ahead of me . but anyway I'm going to log off for now, take care guys, drive safely abroad.
