This Is What's Causing Your Back Pain
Apr 06, 2024It will aggravate the
pain
. Now, an interesting question might be: "Can you have more than one thing at the same time?" The answer is yes. I have seen patients who have aggravated a disc injury or have a bulging disc and the muscles around that area are in spasmcausing
tension andpain
on top of the disc injury. I even had a patient recently who had a bulging disc pressing on a nerve, arthritis in the same area, and the muscles were in spasm. So, as we wrap all ofthis
up, I think it's important to note that we obviously haven't covered all types ofback
pain.We focus primarily on these mechanical forms of
back
pain that actually come from the spine or some of those closely related structures, such as the surrounding nerves and muscles that affect the spine. Yes, we can talk about traumatic fractures of the spine, and even pathological fractures due to certain pathological conditions. Sometimes cancer can spread to the spine and create a problem. There is also back pain. "Vicro" simply means internal organs. We know that the kidneys point backwards. The pancreas is another example when inflamed it can point towards the back and cause back pain. But when we talk about the type of back pain that we mention inthis
video or focus on, you might think, "Okay, how do we deal with this?" Well, fortunately, for many people, these types of back pain can get better or better over time and with supportive treatments, and when we talk about supportive treatments, we mean things like the use of heat, massage, exercise, and even physiotherapy. .You can even use things like topical lidocaine patches and NZD, which are things like ibuprofen to help manage pain. You can even use muscle relaxants if you have to, if you have some muscles that are spasming like crazy and if those more conservative methods fail and people are still having problems, you can go ahead with things like injections. Anti-inflammatory injections can be placed around the area where there is a swollen nerve or even a swollen facet joint. There is a really interesting procedure called radiofrequency ablation that can also be used for those inflamed joints where radiofrequency is injected with this needle and
what
it does is basically heat the nerve or create this thermal injury, not the nerves that we saw in Cornelius . , those big nerves, but a nerve.A little bit around the facet joint that sends the pain and that thermal injury can stop that little nerve from sending the pain and provide relief to someone in that situation. Obviously, there are also surgical procedures that we can intensify to create more space around a compressed or inflamed nerve, and obviously there are some things that rupture or bulge a disc to help in those cases that don't improve, again, with some of those conservative treatments. So protect
your
spine. Obviously, there's a lot of information we could delve into, but the intent of this video is to help us start to understand the main forms of this mechanical type of back pain, but we'd love to hear from you.So if you'd like us to go into more detail about these different forms of back pain, please let us know in the comments below so we can make some videos in the future.
