Jun 08, 2021
This is crazy Hello friends, I'm Andriy Vasylenko and welcome to MetalliGeek. I usually post the podcast on my second channel. But today is the tenth episode. Get ready for something special! You

know

I don't like to talk about

things

you may already

know

. Instead, Metallica's non-stock details appear in almost every video on the channel, and there are some dedicated to them entirely. But today we're taking it to another level: even darker stuff about every single Metallica

song

from the top ten albums. 10 albums, 107

song

s You

might

have two reactions to the facts: 1) Holy shit, this is great! or 2) Holy shit, this is nonsense!

You can't find most of them on the Internet. And some parts are what we've discovered and discussed here on the channel, but may still remain unknown to those not on Friend Inc. I can't believe it's already been done. But anyway, come on! In just 10 seconds of Wherever I May Roam, Metallica had used more unusual instruments than in the previous 10 years. Dream No More is Metallica's third song about Cthulhu, but his name is spoken there for the first time. And Ronnie is the only Metallica song in which a real person's name is mentioned. Fight Fire with Fire was the last song Cliff played, and Battery was the first song performed without him, and respectively, Jason's live debut as a member of Metallica.

More Interesting Facts About,

There is a clean guitar hidden in The Memory Remains after a cello in Hero of the Day and at the end of The God That Failed there is a very quiet “One more like that” by Bob Rock. In Some Kind of Monster, James doesn't open his mouth until 2:07 into the song. Yes, there's an F-bomb at Bell Tolls... But how about an F-bomb at... Nothing else matters? You know Jason wrote the main riff for Blackened. But on the record, the original phrasing was for guitar, and Newsted did his own part differently. Where the Wild Things Are was the last song contributed by Jason, and he came up with it on guitar, not bass.

The live version of My Friends of Misery has incredible audience participation. It is based on a guitar fill from the interlude, but the harmony part is not on the album. Here are all the Metallica songs that won a Grammy: One, My Apocalypse, St Anger, The Call of Ktulu… Better Than You?! And did you know that For Whom the Bell Tolls was nominated for a Grammy, but in 1995? Ain't My B*tch is the only Metallica song with a profane word in its name Atlas, Rise! - with an exclamation point, Am I wild? - the question mark, the shortest title is One, and the longest: What Should Not Be.

I warned you! The Black Album does not have a title song. But, technically, that's how it is. Don't Tread on Me is about a historic American flag with the snake. And you can see the same snake on the album cover. A similar story with Death Magnetic. It has no title song, but the words appear in My Apocalypse. You know, Frantic could have been the theme song instead of St Anger, if everyone fell for Lars' complaints. The intro to The Struggle Within remains the only part of Black's album that was never played live. The vocal line on The End of the Line reminds me of up-tempo Sad But True while Moth Into Flame sounds suspiciously close to The Four Horsemen and Escape to Enter Sandman Broken Beat & Scarred may be the best example of when Metallica makes a song worse.
It used to have a much sicker chorus on the demo. While another from Death Magnetic, Judas Kiss, is an exact opposite case. Speaking of bad choruses, Purify's may be the most deafening thing Metallica has ever done (except Lulu). The introduction of cyanide is SOS in Morse code. You already know that All Nightmare Long has its origin in three different sketches: The shadow of the cross, Death is not the end and Trujillo's flamenco improvisation. But the song seems to have only traces of the song. It's because it had gone through several stages of change. After which all that was left was that cool sweater and the tail of the riff.
Name three Metallica songs. Metallica songs with heavy verses and soft choruses. Hint: They all start with "The Un...". So in a way it's the ballad of St Anger, Speaking of The Unforgivens. I feel like those songs

might

be related somehow, but I'm not sure... Sweet Amber and St Anger contain the same riff. Everything within my hands. I'll read it in this amazing comment: "When you name a charity for children in poverty after a song where you scream KILL 28 times in a row." And it's actually 38 times, Harvester of Sorrow is a song that shouldn't be. The riff went from one song to another, and they finally decided to give it a life of its own.
And so we have Sad But True Bad Seed Day, played in C# tuning, which was Metallica's lowest song at the time. While Invisible Kid is their lowest to date, with James' guitar tuned to a fucking drop G#. Suicide & Redemption is the longest original Metallica composition. But they may have artificially lengthened it to hit the 10-minute mark. The final riff lasts more than a minute, for no reason and with extra musical value. Thorn Within and The Outlaw Torn feature, respectively, James' shortest and longest solos. And again, why did they give up on that sick guy from the Wasting My Hate demo?
Have you ever wondered what the weird guitar in the intro of Fixxxer is? It's just the main riff backwards. ManUNkind has the only major key Metallica riff in the 21st century. And Justice for All has the longest major key role. At almost 10 minutes, the main licks take up almost 2 minutes, or 20% of the song's length. The Day that Never Comes is the longest #4 ballad to date and Sanitarium is the only #4 to have an oath. Speaking of what. Shoot Me Again has the most times James said "shit." Metallica has never written a song that starts with bad words.
Except My World. By the way, now I'm revealing a secret. The sound I use for censoring comes from my old version of Ride the Lightning bass. Master of Puppets is often considered Metallica's best song and was Cliff Burton's favorite. However, he had managed to make fundamental mistakes in the bass line, specifically by coming into dissonance with the guitars in the choruses and breakdown. Fade to Black is often called Metallica's first "poppy" song. But it doesn't have a chorus, whereas normal pop songs depend on a catchy chorus, or they call it, a hook. Not many write a song about ice.
Metallica did it. Even fewer have the opportunity to play in Antarctica. Metallica did it. And they blew this opportunity to play Trapped Under the Ice where it belongs. An early version of Hit the Lights features the highest

note

James has ever achieved, A6. And in The House Jack Built gives an incredibly low Eb1. Anesthesia may have been the first and last time Cliff Burton wore the iconic Big Muff on a Metallica record. Orion is Cliff's greatest masterpiece and a must-have for metal bassists. However, it is possible that he played all the bass parts with just two fingers.
Whiplash has four verses/choruses, but nowadays they cut it to three. Phantom Lord from Metal Up Your A** contains a lick that did not make it into the studio version. But it had survived 19 years in Mustaine's head and finally appeared in Return to Hangar (and The Conjuring). Speaking of Dave, Jump in the Fire was the first song he showed to Lars and James. And there's a good chance that Dave is telling the truth when he claims that Leper Messiah is based on a song he wrote. At least something similar appears on Metallica's 1982 rehearsal tape. Hardwired is the shortest album opener.
And it is the second smallest original Metallica song after Motorbreath. If we consider bpm alone, Creeping Death is Metallica's fastest acoustic intro, and To Live Is To Die is the slowest piece they've ever written. In the intro to That Was Just Your Life, there are four different guitar layers, which Metallica did for the first time since Blackened. On No Remorse, you can hear Metallica's first harmony. It does not appear in any of the early versions of the song. It looks like they added it while recording Kill Em All. Maybe that's the point at which Cliff started t

each

ing James harmony.
Metallica (whose name literally means "metal") only has one song that mentions it. It's the Metal Militia. Of all the times Metallica "stole" someone's music, on Seek and Destroy they didn't even try to hide it. It's so obvious that I think it was on purpose, as some kind of tribute or homage. It's no secret that Metallica likes open string instruments. And they put the most 00000 into Damage Inc. The Shortest Straw. In the past, my friend and I called him "V Shorty Sral". And Through the Never, the best-known lyric in Russian that has been misheard. Have you ever wondered why the intro to The Frayed Ends of Sanity sounds so Neanderthal?
It's the song of the monkeys from The Wizard of Oz. Speaking of primates. In 2009, a group of scientists tried to create music to calm monkeys. The animals did not respond to any music created by humans. Except for one song, Of Wolf and Man. Holier Than Thou was supposed to be the first single from the Black Album, instead of Enter Sandman. Metallica teased fans by performing new songs before they were recorded. So, they made The Call of Ktulu in August 1983, Available Heroes in 1985 2x4 and Devil's Dance in 1995, and a bit of Murder One nine months before Hardwired the album.
According to 20 sold out Metallica levels (it's my video), Until It Sleep is the most popular song and Dyers Eve is the least popular. Prince Charming – The lowest-selling song on the sold-out albums, often called Load and Reload. Bleeding Me has the same lyrical scheme as Du Hast. Poor Twisted Me named the tour in support of the album, Poor Touring Me, but did not participate in it. The slap is Trujillo's second nature. However, he hasn't recorded any of that for Metallica. Newsted did it first, in Cure. Mama Said has the only main riff played by strumming. In Low Man's Lyric, we hear a rare transition in pitch, from A major to A minor.
Okay, and also that weird rolling King Nothing thing that kind of looks like Enter Sandman. Devil's Dance and Sad But True are both standard D and very heavy. Not to mention another Unforgiven, another Jason song, etc. Go further and you can build another Black Album from Load/Reload. And Hardwired...To Self-Destruct refers to the entire history of Metallica. Now That We're Dead - The Outlaw Torn, Halo on Fire - Fade to Back, Confusion - Am I Evil?, Here Comes Vengeance - Wherever It May Roam. I cheat a little there. But whatever. And Spit Out the Bone sounds like a mix of everything from the 80s.
It starts like Kill Em All, goes on like Ride the Lightning, is about control, like Master of Puppets, the distorted bass bridge, Cliff Burton. Plus, it's a bit of a stretch like And Justice for All. If we count the Projectors-Protectors section of Dirty Window as its chorus, then it is the only Metallica chorus with six nouns and no verbs, adverbs, or adjectives. Eye of the Beholder receives no mention in the song itself. Carpe Diem Baby is the only Metallica song that is not in English (except the word "baby," of course). Slither is the worst Metallica song according to our fan poll.
And Fuel is the only song that starts with vocals. And finally, Attitude is the ONLY ONE WITHOUT FACT! We've done it! But I had to delete and redo a lot of

things

, and I recorded several times, you can hear the difference. But if you're curious, I posted it. the unedited script on Patreon.
