These Trails Suck, Don't Come Here.

Jun 03, 2021
My wife and I started our road trip across British Columbia

here

in Canada, we have been traveling as much as we can and have made good progress through the province and while it may seem like these videos skip places, you'll have to look for the other half in my wife's Yuka canal van, so from the bike park in Vernon we continued east via a ferry, passing through the Slokan Valley as we went and after some relaxation by the lake. I arrived in Castlegar BC. It is a small town located between the mountain biking hotspots of Rossland and Nelson.

I've always driven by

here

in the past wondering if there's mountain biking here. Well, it turns out they've been busy and the building. Kootenay style and culture is alive and well in Castlegar, but what is Kootenai style? Well, they tend to be big transportable descents with great free ride style features, all in evergreen forests. In other words, it's amazing here. Our first destination was Goose. Creek Trail along with our friends from Van Life, Antoine and Isabel, we are also joined by our friend Ken who lives in nearby Nelson and to maximize the trip we can do in a day, we are going to travel by transport, except there seems to be a problem, it turned out the road was washed out and we had to pedal the rest of the way, the trail started in the subalpine and soon we were riding a beautiful fast flowing trail over rocks, rocky steps scattered throughout the trail were some smaller features.

More Interesting Facts About,

these trails suck don t come here...

We timed the session, the further down we went the more dusty it seemed to get, this would be the introduction to the conditions we had experienced in the area here, it hasn't rained in a while and things are getting pretty messy but oh well . I guess that means summer is finally here. The trail was a good time, but we were left longing for some of those bigger features that the Kootenais are so famous for, so after saying goodbye to Ken we headed to a trail called the Awakener that promised to do just that double black assault.

I heard it was packed with features and just moments after including some features to warm it up straight into some joinery, now everything is broken and before long we reach one of the highlights of the trail oh jumps a series of seven jumps and each it gets bigger than the last one it doesn't look too bad yeah the first one has been rebuilt all but one were built with wooden lips which isn't my favorite yeah don't land here but Antoine wasn't affected oh , he just tried, yes, he did everything. In the end I solved the first three jumps, but the jump after the turn caused me some problems.

The burn before the fourth jump had lost his Burmese and was unsure. I had the speed for the jump but Antoine is full of confidence, in fact he made the 5th and 6th jumps even bigger as well as the 7th however it is 30 feet but I was able to get through it quite easily although the next one set of features were not equally extreme, a pair of super long tight pants, go a little faster, go a little faster, go faster, go faster, sweet and even Yuka got into the game using her sit up technique , easy, yes, it was easy for you, wasn't it?
Actually, I was something The moment you had a moment, I see your helmet looks a little stupid and goes down a few more jumps, but there are some features in this forest that not even Antoine liked, oh, old descent , oh, that has to be like a mountain bike. film a 12 inch wide drop to a 10 foot drop onto a short wooden lander oh it's tall, it's also a pretty slow speed, people are riding it, although you can see marks on the boards, definitely It takes a special kind of rider to hit something like this. the next feature also required a special type of pilot, oh here we go, it's a little sniper, but that step up should be fine, I'm not so sure about that, although, oh yeah, maybe it won't be so bad from here, It looks something like this. lippy but it turns out that antoine is that special kind of cyclist oh oh sick, I'm not as special as antoine but I managed the descent before the step just below the alarm clock was a trail called dirty dreams, a steep trail of loose sand and Overall , they were good times along the way, I saw a slab and you know me, I can't pass up a good slab.
The next day we went to see the most popular riding area in Castlegar. Mary Creek. I had heard a lot about this place. And now it was finally time to try it, so with Ken Jonathan and Yuka along for the ride, we rode Mr Green Jeans to Captain Kangaroo. Both are named after characters from a children's television show. Anyway, apparently Captain Kangaroo knows how to build. them, it's really sweet, it's just a bunch of natural single track without many features, but oh boy, is it fun? The speed that you can acquire on this natural terrain makes it so fun, big, little, skinny, oh, hi, sorry, there's uh. three more, the lower section of the trail is new and when we arrived we were hit with a rain shower which made for some interesting conditions, the hike stops getting wet, the dirt stayed dusty but the rock slabs were wet, oh it's dusty, holy shit dusty dirt to wet rocks down, eh, okay, that's it, oh sweet, oh that was right for our next lap at Mary Creek, the rain stopped and we had dropped into Hill Mary, a blue run that started with a skinny giant, they really look like I love them here, which I totally agree with Nice Skinny.
The trail was mostly fast single track like Captain Kangaroo, but the standout feature was that you can't roll it, a slightly surprising descent to the wall. It's good that I looked. because yeah, it's not much, but it's enough, it's a pretty easy feature that's a lot of fun and in the end we all managed to get a good one, but the real standout feature of the mountain is Mary's crazy black double, a working pair of step gap we should go take a look, I'm pretty sure I can do this one, this one is pretty calm, oh yeah, the first one was pretty easy and it's up to you how far you want to send it, but immediately after that there's another lot. a bigger one, it was a bit above my pay grades but I hope one day I can convince myself to do it, maybe I just need the right person to tow me surrounded by the mountain bike hotspots of Rossland and Nelson.
I always wondered why trail mapping. The castle guard seems so empty, but it seems like they've been quietly building over the years, cutting world-class

trails

, from classic fast single track to those big stunts you see in magazines. They seem to have a little bit of everything that Castlegar seems to have. A bright future in the mountain biking scene and I can't wait to see what they

come

up with next. I will definitely be back, but as always, thanks for watching and being twisted.
