The Ultimate Gaming Phone!

May 30, 2021
The battery's low, yeah, plug it in, yeah, I just wish it was faster, yeah, plug it in, hey, hey, what's up? mkbhd here and this lenovo legion dual 2 is already the fastest and most powerful

phone

I have ever used, but there is so much more to a

phone

. that just pure speed and you know you know those people who like every two weeks to appear in the headlines and YouTube comments saying that phones are getting boring again and everything looks the same and there's no innovation anymore. This one is for you, so this is one. One of the strangest phones I've ever seen and it tries a lot of new things and they're not necessarily always great ideas but sometimes you have to try a lot of weird things to get a great idea so I'm just here to It points the camera at the object and shows you what they've tested, as you can probably tell from the name and general aesthetic, it's a

gaming

phone and they're not shy about it, so you know how some of the

gaming

phones started lately . pretty aggressive, but then it slowly started to get a little softer, at least aesthetically, not this one, not this one, this one barely looks like a phone, honestly, it's more like a mobile game console that makes phone calls. and text, take pictures so everything is laid out horizontally like this because you know any real game on your phone is going to be horizontal and all the internal components are going to be laid out horizontally now I tell you this phone has a 5500 milliamp hour battery , you might be wondering where you could put it in a phone this shaped, but that battery is split between the left side and the right side of the phone, literally, so 2750 milliamp hours on the right and 27.50 on the left and on I actually think this is a great idea, it has multiple benefits, firstly, the sides of the phone where your fingers usually are stay cooler to the touch because all the hot components that require cooling are aligned in the middle, the distribution of weight is also. now perfectly uniform and that allows them to focus all the cooling just on that smaller portion right in the middle of the phone and that's exactly what they do so you can see that they gave it a full turbine fan that actually turns on if it so you want. you know, the gaming stuff is next to the rgb logo on the back and there is a vent on each side to exhaust hot air from the CPU motherboard RAM, GPU, etc.

There doesn't have to be a separate camera bump either because the cameras are in the middle. I also tell you that nothing about this phone is conventional, so you may remember recently the whole dual battery turbo charging thing on some other phones, like Vook charging, and everything that oneplus did and that would literally be because they would have a split battery inside the phone so that phones with this technology can be charged at 50 watts for example, because both batteries would be charged in parallel At 25 watts each this phone takes it to a fun extreme, there are two USB ports on the phone and it comes with this 90 watt charging brick with two USBC ports on the brick and if you plug in the two included USB cables out of the box into both USBC ports and plug in both USB ports on the phone one on the bottom and one on the side you can charge this at 90 watts which is incredibly fast you can get 50 charges from dead in 13 minutes or literally spend from zero to a hundred and a half hours, which is very impressive for such a big battery, but it's also fun to see your phone plugged in twice and it can be a bit of a hassle to carry this heavy brick and two charging cables everywhere, but the satisfaction of plugging both ports into the phone and watching the animation light up and the battery percentage just starting to increase. jump yeah I'd say it's worth it, plus this is a phone with plenty of other thoughtful battery options so they offer bypass charging so you can power it with a cable instead of just the battery to avoid the heat like we saw .

More Interesting Facts About,

the ultimate gaming phone...

With the Rog Phone Five there are also all kinds of charge limiters to preserve long-term battery health. It's a good trend to see things more baked. Of course, you can also always connect it with one port like any other boring phone with just one. charging port, but of course you're only going to get 45 watts that way, you know, but being able to plug it in from the side is a lot more convenient if you're gaming, which is why gaming phones love it, but man, this. The phone performs as far as hardware is concerned, as you would expect.
the ultimate gaming phone
Two front speakers in this kind of aggressive triangular shape that gets very loud. A massive 6.92-inch, 144-hertz, 1080p OLED display on the front with a ridiculous 720-hertz touch sampling rate. Maximum brightness of 1300 nits, there are a bunch of remappable touch sensitive buttons on the sides and back of this thing, so for gaming it has everything you need and to handle all this you have the Snapdragon triple eight with up to half terabyte of fast storage. and up to 18 gigs of RAM, so this is again the top performing phone on paper and it definitely translates into responsiveness, there's no doubt that it's the snappiest phone I've ever had in my hands, even when not you're playing, just going around. the multitasking UI, etc., but you know what that is, maybe it's the least important thing about a phone like this.
the ultimate gaming phone
It's a gaming phone. We want to know how to play. Okay, let's be real for a second. When it comes to mobile gaming, I would consider myself. A little casual, I think that's a fair description as I've reviewed gaming phones before but I don't play the most intensive games, it's like reviewing a supercar without taking it to the track like you have a better idea. about what it's like to live, sure, but it leaves out a pretty important reason why you'd buy a car like that, so I could tell you from my extremely casual gaming use that this phone crushes absolutely everything, unsurprisingly, it's actually excessive.
I usually don't get any functional advantage from a 720Hz touch refresh rate when playing Among Us, as if that's more than enough, but even when playing a heavier game like Asphalt 9, you can start to feel the combined advantages of everything this phone does starts to come to life, the high refresh rate and the screen looks amazing, super sharp and immersive, of course the super high touch sampling rate is great for making quick cuts and movements in the car, but also the customizable triggers on the shoulder. on the phone is useful because now you're tapping the same point on the screen over and over again for nitro and drift, so you can map them to the shoulder triggers, so it's really nice to not have to lock the screen with your fingers. and there's so much more than you would ever need, this phone has four ultrasonic side keys with a hertz touch sample that refreshes each one and two more rear capacitive touch points, plus you have two more force touch points on either side of the screen, so obviously the games I played don't need all that, but if you do, you have all these extra keys as an option now.
If you're playing a game like Asphalt 9, after a while almost any phone will start to get quite hot. Now the outside of this phone actually stayed a little cooler on the outside where my fingers are compared to the middle which got warmer, spinning the fan and keeping performance high which is a real benefit and measurable that I felt like it wasn't just a trick and then there's something that you'll also notice quickly and I'll have to describe it to you because it's a little bit difficult to show on video. This phone has two haptic motors, a linear haptic motor on each side of the phone, and they combine to create a strong, powerful and forceful vibration motor, it's really impressive.
I will say that it is the strongest and most impressive vibration I have felt on any phone. I don't think any other phone has two, so it's awesome for any type of gaming. of light interaction, footsteps scraping something, every shot really feels strong on this phone, I still call it a phone, but on this mobile game console, but also when you use it as a phone, like typing on the keyboard, an alarm clock like everything what are you doing. I would expect it to vibrate, it's very loud, but hey, like I said, I'm just casual, so I handed this phone over to Andrew, resident gaming enthusiast here at the studio, but also a long-time pub g player. this phone with pub g. mobile on it and without overdoing his first playthrough, he methodically learns the mechanics for the first few minutes, gets a few kills, collects ammo and supplies, the circle starts to shrink, other people start dying and he starts getting a few more kills, fans they start to spin. he lights up when the phone starts buzzing and keeps those frames high and sure enough, seven deaths later, he wins the game.
His first game, Chicken Dinner, made it look easy. Now I'm not saying this phone is the reason he won, but that's nice. Awesome now, when you're in a game and you just want to toggle a setting or something really quick, you can just swipe down from the top and then you'll have a bunch of quick access settings, mostly related to gaming, your cue to shine and volume. force and your ping is there and then the clock speed of your CPU and GPU just for fun but also with a rampage button to literally max out the clock speeds to keep those frames high at all costs and there's also bypass charge switch if desired. turn it on and you will be connected and also there is something here that you can see called streaming mode, okay you are ready for this, this is one last trick, I promise you it is the latest madness, the selfie camera is inside the power button of Por Of course, it's a live-stream-ready 44-megapixel motorized selfie camera that's literally oriented horizontally all the time because its main purpose is to be your webcam if you want to stream your gameplay directly to Twitch or YouTube.
That's right, the phone is not only ready to maximize. Take out your games but be ready to stream your games with that extremely average quality selfie camera. I wouldn't expect anything less. Plus, it's very noisy when opening and closing anyway. This is incredible. Honestly, there is no other phone I have used that is like this. and it's very strange to keep saying it's a phone just because it seems like the phone functionality on this one is an afterthought that happens to do other things like, do you even care about camera quality on a phone like this?
It turns out there's a 64-megapixel main camera on the back that's literally locked when you open the camera app because the way you normally hold a phone puts your fingers on it, but it happens to be combined with a 123-degree ultra-wide and Overall they both take reasonably acceptable photos. and good light, this also allows texting and making phone calls if you really want, you can also use the internet and browse other apps and it can be an amazing alarm clock with those huge haptics and giant speakers, but everything seems to turn out to be true at this point, it's just the latest in gaming phones, again, it's not trying to hide it or be shy about it and do things like wireless charging or water resistance, it's kind of like that.
It doesn't matter at this level, it's just a mobile handheld for cellular gaming, so even if it's not for me, I'm glad they made it. I'm glad this exists and I would gladly recommend it to others I know. a lot more about mobile gaming, but speaking of that, that's the question I want to ask you, that's what I want to leave you with for this video. Are any of you watching this video really considering buying a gaming phone? Do any of you play a game? on your phone so much that you would get a phone designed specifically to be better at it, and if so, what game are you playing?
Let me know in the comments section below if you know that guy, if you're that guy, either way, that's been it Thanks for watching, I'll catch you guys in the next one, peace.
