Hello and welcome to Texas Bucket List, the show dedicated to everything there is to see, an experience here in Texas when it comes to Texas beef. Here in Texas Bucket List, burgers are usually our forte, but we found a big old steak in the middle of nowhere that had us pulling off the road to see a little hole in the wall with a long line at Lyoto , right between Dallas and Houston, is the small town of Leona, not much going on in this small community about a mile away. off Interstate 45, but every Friday and Saturday afternoon people start lining up outside the former Leona General Store.

Homely and honest conversation usually revolves around food because that's what people are here for, to be precise, Amarillo Steak is too far to travel this afternoon, you built it and they've come with that fun Jerry House bought Leona General Store in 1998 and was very familiar with what he was getting into on our vacation: coming to Mullen Paws farm, he certainly owns it. Jerry's family has some lineage in Leona that goes back to his great-great-grandparents Leona were very important to our parents growing up and to the family of the house, and that is how we consider our contribution to making Leona a little better place than it otherwise was. which may have been built in 1921.

and turned it into a must-stop steak place that only serves ridiculously sized ribs on Friday and Saturday nights. Well, I'll tell you it's the best state to be a detective. Is one of the best. I've gone through all of your Bucket List and I love them all, but this is fantastic, we don't have a linen tablecloth, we don't have the best salad bar in the world, but it's a place if you want a steak and a good ribeye cooked outdoors. Being in the meat business was a new endeavor for Gerry before searching for the perfect steak. His place in the world was in the pulpit, so the meat-dominant Methodist minister and Leona, yes. I guess it's surprising to you to see people lining up, yes, it really, really is, it's like being a minister of a church and you work hard to prepare your sermon and then you get up, go to church on Sunday and eat this , you see? say it yourself I wonder if someone is going to show up today there is no one, no one has to do it and I feel the same here, yes what happens if no one shows up, but people do and when they arrive they are greeted by almost the entire house family? doing this without my wife Cynthia Cynthia runs it's a family thing Cynthia runs the cash register our daughter Laura is a cook our son-in-law Don runs the Cook Shack and then we have a daughter Emily who comes every other weekend as a waitress and then we have a son who is the senior minister of Christ United Methodist Church and College Station and prays that this will be his country.

This is how you won your choice now when it comes to ordering your ownership share, first you select your size, what is the process like? you just say this thick, we don't have a menu and our philosophy when we started was to do something like we would at home if we had guests over to our house, basically, you order by the ounce and trust me, that's how it will be. be bigger than you think, I'm full as a tick, we never weigh them we just cut them by hand and cut them about as thick, in fact we finally weighed one about a year ago and our 10 ounce fillets actually weigh 16 ounces a little. a little money, that's the way to do it and over the course of the year it comes out to something like forty-six thousand five hundred pounds of ribeye, that's a couple of cows, we're doing our part for the cattle industry, I guess after a few minutes.

We'll cut it in half to see what the steak should look like. like when it's cooked here in the Lone Star State medium rare magical wonderful perfectly cooked the smell is amazing it's so thick because this steak is amazing the people here are amazing well that's legendary well thank you break it's steak mash of potatoes in salad that's what it is and people keep coming back it's a thick, juicy and delicious stench it's the country it's what country people love to eat and it's well made it's fantastic it's not going anywhere this is mine so I bought the ten ounces and you keep in mind that I barely hurt him, but he will survive another day.
