The time is right for a comprehensive review of the Range Rover Sport, starting with an overview of how the new Rover Sport, the third generation model, was redesigned for model year 23. I haven't done a full review yet. I gave the new

sport

s car a spin when it was first announced about 2 years ago, but I wanted to do a full review, get behind the wheel and check out its quirks and features, so let's start with the price. This is a very expensive Range Rover Sport. It starts around $86,000, making it one of the most expensive vehicles in its segment.

More Interesting Facts About,

the range rover sport is beautiful high tech and totally new...

The closest competitors are probably the Porsche Cayenne, which starts in the low to mid-$80,000

range

but of course the Cayenne focuses more on

sport

and performance than the Range Rover Sport. it has more off-road capability with some performance and luxury compared to a BMW quirks and features starting with the design which has been greatly modernized and refined compared to the outgoing Range Rover Sport. If you take a look at the old sports car, you can see that it has a profile and overall shape quite similar to the new model, but the new version has just been sculpted and modified enough to look different, newer and more modern, and Land Rover has really focused on minimalism with the exterior design of this car.

There are no superfluous lines, scoops or things that you might have found 10 years ago in the design. Everything is very simple and sober. There are some interesting examples, one can see that the windows go directly to the body on the side doors of the car which is really cool, there isn't even a rubber gasket there, it's just window to door. They are trying to make it as simple as possible. The same goes for the door handles which when the car is closed are flush with the body for a simpler and more aerodynamic shape and I especially love the rear where the Range Rover Sport has changed the most in its new version, you can see a new design of the rear, but also it almost doesn't look like it has a bumper back here, it has a very nice modernist look around this car, with that said, a nasty inconvenience when you unlock, lock the doors that open them, this projection comes from of the mirrors is supposed to be an image of the new Range Rover Sport.

Land Rover does this on all of their cars personally. I think it's a bit excessive. Many brands do this. It's always a bit excessive. It's a bit of an exaggeration, but other than that. You really have to give them credit for the minimalist luxury look of this car and you can see more in the back. The rear wiper is nowhere mounted on the rear window. This is a distinctive Land Rover Hallmark. It is mounted underneath. rear spoiler and therefore you don't see it when you look at the rear of the car, it is hidden, which looks very good and also at the rear, just like on the sides, the window reaches all the way to the body, There is no rubber gasket in the middle, like in most other cars and it looks very modern, very cool, almost like a concept car and it is a minimalist luxury.
Simplicity, but anyway, next we climb into the new Range Rover Sport and you are greeted in the dill by an illuminated autobiography, it looks good, that's the equipment level of this Range Rover. Sport, one of Land Rover's main luxury trends, you pass the door cell and quickly discover that the interior also has a significant minimalist approach and there are some very clear examples of what is probably best in the central control console. Check out climate controls where you have these two dials that incorporate several different functions into one in their normal state, you turn them to change the temperature of the climate control, but if you pull the dial it will change the speed of the fan of the control system of climate if you press the dial. will turn on the heated seats, switch to the right or the cooled seats, switch to the left.
This allows Land Rover to integrate three different functions into a single dial so they don't have to have multiple buttons for all of these functions. is to reduce interior clutter here is another good example of integrating controls to reduce clutter the power seat controls are on the doors you can see there is a seat back and bottom like most cars and inside the Power seat controls are its Memory Buttons that you can touch to place the seat, steering wheel wherever you want. It's a great idea. Seats, memory, they're already basically the same type of thing, so why not integrate them into one control and reduce them? all the stuff and there are several other interesting controls here beyond the stuff, some quite quirky, one is the gear selector which isn't that unusual but it's still worth noting that it's this stubby little thing that you put your hand on it, you press a button. and then push forward to reverse, pull down to drive and then Park is a little button next to the gear selector, now right near there you have the drive mode dial which you can see here, you turn it to enter your various driving modes, it is not real.
Surprisingly, the interesting thing is that if you push it down, it goes into self-driving mode and then the car detects what you're trying to do in sport mode, off-road terrain, whatever and it will do it for you or it pushes it up and you. You can manually select and then another interesting quirk here is the rear view mirror that you can see is a rear view mirror. You flip this switch and it turns into a camera that shows what's behind you, which is a great feature with a mirror you have to look through. the entire back of the car with a camera you don't see you only see what is directly behind you and how's this for a cool trick, the buttons on the steering wheel can change what they show and what they do, check this out on the left This pad will change what is displayed on the screen and how it works depending on what screen you are on in the gauge cluster depending on what you are adjusting.
This pad changes is kind of a cool party trick that can do several things depending on what's lit up at the time very cool and how about this? There is a hidden storage compartment and a fairly large one. You have the center console here. Open the center console lid. You have storage in front. Open this cover. The cupholders are pretty standard, but you can push the cupholders back and you have an additional storage compartment under the cupholders that most people would probably never discover. You can store your hidden items down there, and speaking of hidden items, how about this directly? under the center screen you have your wireless phone charger, it's right here, you wouldn't expect it to be there, you don't even see it from the driver or passenger seats, but there's a nice little spot where you can slide your phone in instead of something that dominates the center control console like in some cars and how about this?
You have two glove compartments. You can open them with the buttons here, an arrow up, an arrow down, up. The arrow obviously opens the upper glove box as you can see and the down arrow opens. the lower glove box which adds some extra storage and practicality to this interior. In the lower glove box, you'll notice we have the window sticker that has a sticker price of $110,000 as you can see, but it's also an interesting item: This interior does not have Land Rover leather. offers this as an option, it costs $1,400 for the interior and an additional $300 for a leather-free steering wheel, so about 2 Grand to go completely leather-free for people who don't want animal products with cow hides in their interiors, they can do it in this car and then we move on to the infotainment system, this big screen in the center of the interior that has its pros and cons, although they are mostly pros.
Overall, I like this infotainment system. I think it has a lot of good things, but some drawbacks and benefits. Number one, the home screen. I like that it's a three panel screen that shows what you want to see and you can scroll to see even more and it's configurable so you can show as many three panels as you want at the same time, that's nice I see and it works well. I also love the ease of accessing the camera system on this car. You don't have to reverse and then change the camera. Choose the one you want.
Instead, simply tap this icon on the screen and then activate your camera. the cameras are on, this is really beneficial if you are in a tight space but not backing up. You're trying to park some somewhere in all the cars. The cameras turn on in reverse, but if you want to see them, you can easily access them. in this car it is not true for others. I also like the fact that the climate controls are not integrated into this infotainment screen, which would have been an easy decision for Land Rover given the minimalist approach of this interior and given that some rivals have done this.
This is like Mercedes-Benz, instead the climate controls are separate so you don't have to access menus and icons on the screen to change simple things like the interior temperature and another thing I love about this climate system. infotainment is Wade's sensing feature. go here, it shows you the exact depth of water that you're currently driving in, there are sensors in the car that will show you that and give you an idea of okay, it's too deep, don't go any further because it has this line on the side of the car that gives you maximum forging depth, which is a very cool feature that is a good piece of

tech

nology in the off-road world.
That said, there are some drawbacks to this infotainment system mainly related to control. things, for example, I want to change the satellite radio station, so I pressed next to go to the next one. Well, that doesn't actually take you to the next one, it takes you to this long list of satellite radio stations, then you can choose, so onwards. Moving on to the next station is like a two-step process and there are a few other complications to this system that are a bit annoying. I also don't love the fact that there's no dual screen - you can't have your navigation and music on at the same time, for example, which is disappointing, especially considering the size of this screen - but Land Rover makes up for any drawbacks in the infotainment screen in the gauge cluster screen, which is excellent, the gauge screen is obviously a full screen as you can see, and very Configurable, you can adjust the information panels to show exactly what you want to see, so that if you are also disappointed not to have a dual setup in the middle with the map and radio, you can put the radio in the gauge display and have the map in the center, otherwise it is very configurable in the gauge cluster .
You can have a full screen map here and lots of other configuration possibilities to suit exactly what you want and then it's off to me and the back seat of the Range Rover Sport. I have to say that the first thing that strikes me here is that I am surprised at how spacious it is. It was right on the back of the new Lexus GX, which is less expensive than this but kind of a similar rival in the sense that it's a luxury. SUV about the same size, the back seat was small, plenty of room back here, although it's not the big full size Range Rover, there's knee room, head room and hip room, it's a nice place to have a nice and luxurious size. rear seat in the new Rover Sport and there are some nice luxuries here too - this one has rear seat climate control which works the same as the front, meaning you can adjust the fan speed by turning the dial or the temperature and you can even press On and turn on the heated or cooled rear seats, which is a nice touch of luxury that you don't see often.
Also, as far as climate control goes, you get nice air vents here in the center, which is nice, and additional air vents above your head that blow air. Directly on top of your body, you don't usually see that level of climate vent placement and piping and it adds cost, but I guess that's part of what you get when you pay more for a Range Rover Sport in comparisonwith his rivals. Some other good stuff back here. The power ports which are located at the bottom of the back of the front center console, has two USBC and a cigarette lighter style port.
You can also lower the center armrest, the center seat and it has two panels that you can open, it has cup holders. In the front, as you can see, and the storage in the back, this whole piece looks good and works well, and on that note, the rear seat backs are electric. It has a seat control on the door, as you see here. He pushes it as he would upwards. The front and backrests of the seats move forward and backward to increase your comfort level. It even has a lighted seat. Bel has buckles back here, which is nice.
It's late at night. Can't find the buckles right. They are illuminated to make it easier. Lots of nice luxury touches back here and a good amount of space make this a nice place to spend time, although it's not the full Range Rover, just the sports one and then we move on to the cargo area, which interestingly enough is just a storage area. load, I mention it as notable because a third row of seats is not offered in the new Range Rover Sport and that is important because some rivals do offer a third row such as the Audi Q7 and the new Lexus GX and, indeed, the Rover Sport I used to offer it.
They offered a third row of seats in the previous generation, but that is no longer the case. If you want a third row in a Range Rover you have to step up to the full-size Range Rover, it is no longer offered in the Sport model or you can get some.Other Land Rover models such as the Discovery, Discovery Sport and the Defender, they all offer it, but not this car, but the cargo area in the Rover Sport is, as you can see, nice, big, nice and spacious and it has some clever tricks like eg. You can lift this panel up and then you have a cargo divider that will separate your front and rear cargo so it doesn't collide and mix with itself.
You also have on this panel that some straps are raised that are taut so that you can put them on. say for example wine bottles here while driving or water bottles and prevent them from spilling while driving which is a nice touch, a cool idea actually and in the same vein it also has a taut fabric strap on the side from the driver in the cargo area where you can put more stuff and some nets on the passenger side where again you can put more stuff if you don't want them to roll around and under the floor you have a huge full size spare tire which is an option on this car, not all of them come with it, but this one does ship with five full size wheels and tires and it takes up the entire floor of the cargo area, it really is huge, a couple of other cool tricks back here you have Power rear seats, press these buttons like window switches and you can raise or fold the rear seats to add more cargo space if you need it or raise them back up if you prefer to do that, just do it with a button here. no latches or pulling things, no manual work and on that note, another control you have back here, this button will lower the rear of the car because the Range Rover Sport has air suspension, you can actually lower the rear in case When you bring something heavy into the cargo area and you want to lower it so you don't have to lift it so

high

, you can do it with the push of a button, it will lower and make the cargo floor a little easier to lift items in a nice Quirk. and interesting and we finally get to cover the powertrains for the 2024 model year.
The Range Rover Sport is only offered with two powertrains. The entry-level engine is a 3-liter 6-cylinder mild hybrid, not a plug-in, just a traditional gasoline engine. you put gas but there is a mild hybrid component to improve fuel economy and it is offered in two different power levels, the base has 350 horsepower or you can upgrade to a 400 horsepower version or you can upgrade to the autobiography model which is this one, but for 24 the Autobiography now has a twin-turbo plug-in hybrid V8 that makes over 540 horsepower, which should make it particularly exciting to drive. This is a 23 autobiography model that has instead a 6-cylinder plug-in hybrid that makes around 440 horsepower and is still a respectable figure. figure, but it has changed for 24 in favor of the more powerful twint turbo V8 which I'm sure makes this car even more fun to drive now despite this autobiography's sticker price of around $110,000 in 23 there was a first edition of Range Rover.
Sport, which was the most expensive model, sold for 24, so now the autobiography is the most expensive and now starts around $120,000, so the 24 autobiography is more expensive but has more power thanks to its new engine and, of course, standard all-wheel drive. on all Range Rover Sport models, as you would expect from a Land Rover, a brand known for its off-road capability. Driving the new Range Rover Sport now, as I already mentioned, the powertrain on this particular one has already been discontinued, so I'm frankly not going to spend much time talking about it. I think it's a good thing it's no longer offered.
It's not that good of an engine, especially in a

high

-end model. I bet the new twin-turbo V8 is amazing, but let's talk about it. the rest of the driving experience and I have to say that you start driving this car and you start to understand how Land Rover justifies such a high price over the X5, the Q7, the Mercedes GLE and it really does a lot of things right, which I mean, it's comfortable, which is true for all those SUVs, it's also nice and comfortable and, and you know, the ride quality is excellent, there's not a lot of wind noise coming from outside, like it feels good here, but It's also sporty, it's surprising how well this car handles considering how big and heavy it is and that handling isn't really Land Rover like.
The main thing, you know, you expect an well and the road manners are pretty excellent uh it's actually quick it's quick to change direction and it's sportier than I expected, then you add in the off-road capability, which is, you know, head and shoulders above its rivals, You know, BMW Mercedes, they're not even pursuing that anymore, it's not even one of their stated goals like it was. When those SUVs first came out in the late '90s, now you know and everyone knows that people are only going to use these things on the road and they're going to be able to drive this, you know, Offroad, not that people are actually going to do that in big quantities. but the fact that it can and still has the other features is quite impressive of course, then there is the styling which in my opinion is

beautiful

, the interior which apart from the technology which is so-so has some bright spots nice, like this one. the car does everything right that's impressive it's impressive being able to do everything right adding the off road adding the quietness and the smoothness adding the steering and the sporty feel it really is a very impressive SUV overall in fact I would say My only real complaint is with this one infotainment system.
It's okay, but not great. I could certainly answer better. Some of the controls and buttons are similar, but overall this is a fantastic vehicle and it's not a surprise since it's new last year. You know, it's only been out for about 18 months, it's one of the newer ones in the segment, so you'd expect it to be one of the best, but it really delivers on that and it's great now if it happens. Considering a surplus or used one with this six-cylinder plug-in hybrid, it's actually not that good, you get an all-electric driving

range

, which is good, but the level of performance is actually not that good for an autobiography.
It's a bit disappointing. I think when this car first came out, Land Rover wanted to bring their premium customers to a first edition model that was much more expensive and had that V8, so the autobiography had to take a step. We're back for that first model year, now the Autobiography is back with that big V8, which makes more sense, but this was a disappointing, DEC-satisfied 2023 Autobiography model, so maybe not the one to get if you get one, but since this engine is no longer offered if you're looking at one of these new, you can't even make this mistake, so the rest are pretty good, so the base six-cylinder engine in this car I had in mind my old Land Rover Defender and it was a good powertrain um and then the V8, I'm sure it's going to have a lot of muscle of course, I also love the driving position here um you sit up high and see everything which It's cool, that's another reason why people like these.
SUV vehicles in general, but Land Rovers specifically, this one and the Porsche Cayenne, are priced high in this segment, but they kind of dominate the segment. The Cayenne has this incredible sporty driving feel and of course the Porsche brand, it's fantastic and has a sporty feel to it as well. driving feel plus off-road capability plus the Range Rover brand and it's also fantastic even though it's much more expensive than an X5 and a GLE and those vehicles offer many of the same benefits that everyone wants in an X5 and a GLE. They were in a Range Rover Sport or a Cayenne and not only are they more desirable, they really deliver on that promise and this car is a great example of that and I think the newer one looks great too, so that's the new Range.
Rover Sport Autobiography is an SUV that ticks all the boxes, including the high price, they have been tremendously popular, they sell as fast as Land Rover can make them and now you understand why and now is the time to give the new Range Rover Sport a try. Doug's score and Doug's score is 63 out of 100, which puts the Range Rover Sport here against its rivals. It's a solid showing and the competition is getting a little old as the Audi Q7, Mercedes GLE and BMW X7 are all four or five years old. Compared to the new Range Rover Sport, in fact, some of the Range Rover Sports' biggest competitors come from within the Land Rover family itself: the new Defender, the Valar and the full-size Range Rover are all excellent options, but the Sport is probably the best all-rounder. of the group a
