The Metal & Resin River Table

May 01, 2020
but you could stop walking on it anyway. So it's ready for the

resin

and I'm going to cover it. I'm going to need to look at the other one. I'm not sure if I'm going to do the other one or not because this took a long time to sand. back I mean hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and the other one has quite a bit of

resin

in it and I'm not really sure what to do with it right now because we did it backwards and the whole

table

is covered in resin, so You really need to peel it off to get any kind of finish like this, so I don't really know what to do with it, another kind of Ruki mistake, but here we go, but once we've done the resin on this, it'll be ready to go. put my emblem, which is not too thick somewhere in the corner and then the legs, so let's go and look at the other one first.

This is our second

table

that we made slightly differently than the last one. We have all the

metal

shavings on top, which I like because it doesn't look very good, however, actually what we need to do is polish this up a little bit and get rid of this resonance here because we obviously have got all these shavings. of

metal

here we really don't want that so I'm going to use a grinder for that with this big abrasive pad that will remove it pretty quickly but it will cause an absolute carnage of mess okay this has been creating such a mess for years and the batteries will they are running out on the makita, this every five minutes again, another mistake where I have too much resin underneath and I don't really need all that in there. so I'll have to try to get it out, so I had another idea.

More Interesting Facts About,

the metal resin river table...

I'll try. I'm going to try using this to cut the resin. Ideally, I could use a Derek sled so I could slide this. up and down and I can make nice thin cuts, but I don't have a sled and at the moment I don't have wood with which I can do it. I know it sounds strange, so I'll give this a try. Go see if I can remove the resin with this, it might be a little easier and less complicated to develop this technique quite well, so it will take me a little longer to finish that part, but yeah, we're almost there.

What I want to do is mix it up a little bit because it's a little bit rough as you can see, but I think that's going to give it a really funky look anyway, that's going to make it look a little bit different, so I'm going to put some gear with this. and we won't send it back a little bit, obviously it won't be as bumpy, but yeah, I think it's doing well and a lot faster and with a lot less mess. Makita has done a great job taking stones. at the end of this, happy days for me, so it became a lot easier, this is really wicked, look at this now, it's so amazing, I think I'm going to do some more projects from this war because it's cool, that's why I'm done so I removed it from the top of the layer which is really good so what we're going to do now is like trying to fight the fit with the grinder just get rid of the 5 points and then start to sand this properly.

That will still take me quite a bit of time, but it certainly took up a lot of my time using this. Yes, I know it would have been better to use a sled. Oh, maybe not, but I don't have one, so I'm afraid. This could be split into two parts or it could be a very long video. They are ready for a good top coat of resin. At first I thought this way was maybe the best, but now I look at this and see how cool it looks. It's absolutely amazing, I love it, so I hope they say I could normally put it here.
Some of these things are that Osmo aisle that you know I did on my last table, but again I want to try and try something different, so I'm going to cover this with resin, so I'm also going to use cast glass resin again. For this, I'll mix it up and just put a light layer of resin on top and around the edges as well and see. how it's going to turn out I think it's going to look really good so that's the first one done now this isn't going to dry that shiny so it's going to dry, you know, so you can really see it and it's going to be pretty pretty actually flipped over it came out pretty good, right?
Isn't it so good so far? So it's going to take about 48 hours for it to cure, maybe less actually 24 because it's just a thin layer, but we'll leave it on now, so you'll be the first to do it. that's not bad, I actually quite like it, especially with that metal in it, so let's go ahead and do the other one well, so this is the bottom of each finished table, so we just have to wait for them to dry and then , once we drive. I can glue the legs on and we'll finally be done now that took a long time, this project took me a lot longer than I thought.
I love making it and I definitely love using this chip, so I hope you enjoyed it. I definitely want to use these things again, I have so many and I'm thinking about definitely making something more for this. I don't know if you've seen Peter Brown's killer bowl for this absolutely incredible one, check it out if you haven't. Because he made a project using this chip and it's pretty cool, I'm leaving a link below because it's really cool and definitely worth a look. I was gifted this quite a while ago, actually probably about a year ago, from a friend. mine and I thought it would be a cool project at some point, but I never got around to using it and I wanted to make this River table for you.
I was using this fused glass product which is really cool and Think about when you're making these really big legs with these types of tables and I think this works perfectly for that and I haven't really made a

river

table before, I guess it's kind of

river

metal table, and I definitely believe it. It also turned out quite original, so you have the black and orange, but it's more silver and gold. I think it looks pretty good. I really didn't have much trouble sanding it. I think so. that wasn't really going to work, it actually came out fine with the sanding.
I'm not completely sold on the resin finish because it's quite shiny and although I don't mind shiny things I think maybe it would have been better with a different type of finish but I've done it before and wanted to try something different so I went with the resin finish. It's okay, but it may be too bright for my taste. Well, I'm certainly aware that this has been a very long process. video and was debating whether or not to put it in two parts or not. I thought I'd follow him and move on. It's probably about 40 minutes long, maybe even 45 minutes, so I apologize for those of you.
