The Many Faces of Isaac Netero (Hunter x Hunter)

May 31, 2021
As a Hunter Hunter fan, I naturally try to recommend the series to anyone who I think would even remotely enjoy it, as most of you know it's one of my all-time favorite stories and I personally think it deserves to be seen as such . to as

many

people as possible, but I always reach a point when recommending it to others when they simply ask me what it is about. Hunter hun is a series that is extremely difficult to summarize in a few unbiased words and if you have experienced it then you know it. Exactly what I'm talking about, you can always mention the premise of a boy who goes on an adventure to find his father, but this premise doesn't come close to expressing what the series is about because each Arc is unique and different from another.

On the other hand, these standalone stories and ideas tend to be emphasized as they come and go much more boldly than any overarching plot or theme you can describe to entice someone to watch or read the series if I recommend something like gur and lagon I might. describe bombastic action Legendary moments Great character growth and themes rooted in never giving up. If I'm suggesting the tat me Galaxy, I might talk about its artistic and deeply resonant vision of rosy campus life and the transition to adulthood. but with Hunter Hunter it is too much, it is both action and dialogue, intense, fun and cheerful, but dark and heavy, forceful in some aspects but subtly elegant and in others.

More Interesting Facts About,

the many faces of isaac netero hunter x hunter...

When recommending it, I usually end up stumbling over a few words and being silent for a minute saying trust. It's amazing to me, and ironically, leaving it at that is one of the best ways I can describe Hunter Hunter only works for people who have already experienced it. Hunter Hunter as a series is strikingly similar thematically, structurally, and tonally, to Isaac Netto as a character. I'll get to this in a moment, but I think it's pretty obvious that both Hunter Hunter, the story and Isaac nto, the man, are adept at defying initial expectations to reveal incredible depth despite some hints of foreshadowing shortly after the Netto presentation.

I had some predictions swimming in my head as to where his Arc would go, but mostly I thought it would be quite similar to Dumbledore's role in the early entries of the Harry Potter franchise, a seasoned leader in a position of Power full of wisdom but exuberant who would lend his knowledge to guide some of our protagonists, of course this was embarrassingly inaccurate and I discarded this prediction after making it, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one who misjudged the man who had become one of the characters thematically richest and most symbolically profound of the series, but first let me start by explaining my view on Netto's character, Arc, and how he encapsulates and represents the structure of the series before delving into deeper symbolism and themes associated with the man. .

I think he's a pretty accurate microcosm and embodiment of Hunter Hunter's tonal and thematic trajectory. as a series and that's a statement that doesn't really say much, so let me explain how Hunter Hunter starts off as a really lighthearted and fun series despite some objectively brutal events happening and some darkness from Huka and ilumi. How does Netto's character start out as a cheerful and playful old man despite some questionable morality he displays at certain points that I'll get into later? How does Hunter Hunter develop? He maintains and increases the focus of his character and shifts to darker, more mature themes and topics that broaden his scope and maintain his unique charm, but become increasingly darker and more complex until you look back and can barely realize how the series started and how much it changed.
How does our view on Neto develop after what it initially seemed? As a cheerful old man, the dissonance between Netto's words and behaviors begins to show as we begin to realize that he is more than he seems, displaying a mischievous nature that extends to an undercurrent of strange darkness that is only fully shown in the anarchist Chimera, so I personally think Neto's character arc is loosely parallel to the direction the series took, starting out as a rather amusing old man only to later be revealed as a darker and more thematically more complex. This same arc of development could be said for the entire series until the end.
Current point and that's why I sometimes think of Neto as a personification of togashi's narrative trajectory. You could also make this comparison using other character arcs in the series like gon but that's for another time and just as there are little moments that foreshadow how deep the series will delve into the darkness in the Hunter Exam arc, so there are also aspects of Netto's initial characterization that are actually pretty interesting foreshadowing that adds a dark undertone and some would think it's like a bully. The fact is that Netto's superficial personality sweetens the man's. full nature and deceives the audience, but the hints of these unorthodox aspects were present from the beginning staring us in the face, you only need to look beyond the kind old Persona to see him take the ball game with kilua and left, for example , I initially took this game as Nero's way of pushing kilua and especially reaching their limits and helping them improve their skills and strategic thinking.
I didn't really think there could be any other reason for this on my first viewing, but reflecting on it now my perception has changed, there was definitely an element pushing the guys towards success and a simple joy of having fun in this game, but there was more. This is just my opinion, of course, but I legitimately believe that Nido was really enjoying winning. and once again he put restrictions on himself and enjoyed thinking of creative ways to win loving the challenge and above all loving his victories To the end Neto strives to enjoy and enjoys the very simple things that tend to equate to winning contests of skill, power or intellect.
Although he primarily prevails in combat, but more on that later, another example of Netto's darker quirks can be illustrated through his questionable morality displayed throughout the Hunter Exam tests. This exam is designed to eliminate elite pretenders, but the way Neto formulates the exam is quite dangerous throughout the exam. He passes tests in which entrants fall to their deaths. They are impaled by giant spikes. They are eaten by strange fantastic creatures and killed by poisonous snakes. Mak, to name a few. He organizes a mini tournament in which he formulates the group such that he would face inevitable physical agony and Kilua would possibly face his brother Twisted.
This group was also objectively unfair, with arguably the weakest remaining participant having only two chances to obtain the license from him, while others of similar strength had four or even five chances. Loria was projected. be the one to miss out on this and I would predict that this is because Netto perceived him as weak and unworthy of as much opportunity as the others, which would make sense given what we later learn about him. He also explained that those who performed the most impressively during the exam had the most opportunities, which may have also had an impact on the seats and I also did not mention some other cases of this questionable morality.
Neto was not the saint I initially imagined him to be. in the early parts of Hunter Hunter and there was clear foreshadowing of this from the beginning. I don't think Netto's whimsical and cheerful side was fake, although he legitimately had fun playing with Gone and the members of the Zodiac. and in particular Jing and Pariston remember him as a bit crazy, handing out useless and crazy tasks to the

hunter

s and having fun executing things. He really was very flamboyant and a little crazy with those who worked most closely with him, but there is always more than one side. to a person and as we have seen Netto's deeper characterization was far removed from his superficial extravagance, he is a man of

many

sides.
Togashi didn't just improvise and suddenly decide that Neto should do a 180 degree turn in the characterization of the Chimera Ant Arc and this is Of course, because of the hints from the beginning, there was always a lingering darkness in Netto founded on a strange passion for discovering and defeating strong opponents in battle, but how did this Darkness get there to answer that question? We need to go back years and years before the During the series not much is known about Netto's early life, but we do know that he once fought Maha Zulic and was the only one to survive a fight with him.
Neto is a man who harbors an absolutely intense love and gratitude for the martial arts. The arts and combat and the impact of it on Neto's life we can precisely trace back to the age of 46, where he decided to leave his dojo and put a religious amount of dedication, time and effort into his training in the lonely mountains. . Neto promised to show his gratitude to martial arts by completing 10,000 punches segmented by 10,000 sentences every day on the first day, this took him 18 hours to complete before collapsing from exhaustion and falling asleep. He continued this intense ritual day after day for the next few years, without faltering or altering his routine.
His speed and efficiency of movement gradually improved until he was able to do 10,000 strokes and prayers in 1 hour using all the extra time he had. he now had. He dedicated his days to intense prayer and then returned to his dojo where he moved his associates to tears. with his punches that had become faster than the speed of sound, he then became a Grandmaster and conceived a new combat school from which Neto never stopped rising in the world and concluded his journey as president of the Association. of Hunters. A simple basic summary points out n's journey throughout his life, but it is important to remember these events when discussing the man's personal philosophies and thematic importance.
History makes it clear that Neto owes his life to martial arts and to the solemn, rigorous and crazy. The tribute to express this gratitude reveals the core of his character. He has a sacred appreciation and respect for the things in his life that he deems worthy of such respect, but it must be said that this respect revolves around combat and is primarily limited to combat. As the narrator says after receiving the power as Grand Master of his old Dojo, a monster was created in Neto, the fact is that, although he loves everything that martial arts represents, he feels the opposite for the weak, this obviously includes to the physically weak, but in my opinion.
The opinion would also include the weak-minded, those who rely on others who don't have the balls to be themselves, strive for success, and behave with integrity. Neto goes through long periods of madness to become exceptional and purposeful in his life in order to He feels nothing but disdain for those who cannot compare to him or are not dedicated and yet sometimes shows a blatant lack of respect even towards the Forts, according to my perception. Neto doesn't really care about those who die during the

hunter

exam because if they were truly steadfast in their efforts to become great, then they would have been better prepared.
He doesn't think about the weak and, with one key exception, really only cares about those who are or have the potential to do so. being cool, there is actually a similarity between Netto and Hoka in that sense, but there is a side of Neto that is the antithesis of Hoka, the emotional side of him. I've seen many accuse Neto of being evil and heartless with a black hole for a soul and while some aspects of his character might start to lead you in that direction his emotional chord doesn't make it that simple. Neto has a true appreciation not only for martial arts and strong opponents but also for humanity as a species.
He shows pure respect for the moments. of genuine human care as he shows when he reflects that if he interrupted Maro's actions with Kugi he would be destroying his own cause. Neto is such a passionate person and it shows through both his dedication and his admiration for kindness and compassion. He lives with his heart on his sleeve and can't help but recognize when others do the same. The two themes most associated with him are love and appreciation and this primarily focuses on his love of combat, but can also be applied to other things, however, Neto has serious flaws.
As a person, he has these ideals but does not carry them out consistently and in all contexts. Every moment in his life in which Neeto appreciated an act of human care, there was another moment in which he disregarded and disrespected a human life due to his weakness without thinking that perhaps they too were compassionate and caring people towards their loved ones. loved ones, and by further exploring his disposition towards humans, we are able to cover an aspect of Neo that is one of the most revealing parts of his characterization that he has lived for over 100 years.
He has seen it all regarding humanity despite all the good in the world.world, he sees the evil, the bloodshed, the terror, and although I highly doubt he approves, he respects humanity as a whole for its relentless perseverance. Humanity will always emerge. Furthermore, we are cynical, efficient, ruthless, greedy and selfish, and through this Humanity endures through Generations, it is not pleasant to think about it, but it cannot be argued that we will always evolve for better or worse and ensure our survival in general and in a broader view, humans are winners and that is why Neto is so proud of humanity.
He reflects his mentality to a large extent. This pride in humanity extends to a bit of a superiority complex, as well as the time Neto proclaimed that meaning as an ant. He should know that his place was quite telling after Neto's initial rise and after becoming a hunter, he eventually began to find excitement hard to come by with opponents he found stimulating to his tastes, becoming increasingly rarer. According to some of the recent chapters of the manga. SetHe set out on an expedition to the Dark Continent with Zig Zoldik and Lenor Derv and one would think that such a treacherous place would rekindle the flame in his heart but this experience left him unsatisfied.
Neto longs to triumph against his opponents and nothing else quenches this thirst as Surviving a trip to the Dark Continent would normally be something to be proud of. Neto simply felt a superficial emptiness because there was no distinct opponent to defeat there. Neto then continued working in his dojo until he became president of the association, his goal in La Vida was to find an opponent worthy of all his strength and unfortunately for him these years were fruitless in that effort. This may be the reason why he began to do such strange things aimlessly, like playing with the hunters and the Hunter Association for fun, because perhaps he was bored and began to think that he would never find that worthy adversary until the fateful conception. of a certain ant king the challenge posed by the chimera ants, the royal guards and maram in particular lit a fire in netto's heart.
Not only was this his chance to defend his rac pride, but it was immediately clear that this was the opponent Neto had been waiting his whole life for and this excited him. One of the most badass moments of the entire series for me was when Neto responded to Pit's change of tactics with the little ant's classic bad move to kick off the most fascinating segment of the series for me before moving into battle. I won't bore you with a blow-by-blow of one of the best fights in anime, but what's so important about it? Netto's perspective is how much his resolve wavered despite how much he was eager to fight Maran.
The behavior was so unexpected that he even noted that he had to end this quickly or else Neto might end up agreeing with the man. There are many small subtle details. That makes this fight awesome, but some of them are ones I've covered in my Marowan video and some I'll cover in the next section. However, there is only one thing I would like to draw attention to: Netto's unifying and constant gratitude. Being able to fight such an incredible opponent, coupled with his t-shirt containing the Japanese kanji character for heart and mind, people see Neto's sacrifice as a reflection of the worst of humanity, but in my opinion, it was just an act of preservation for its people, the real tragedy lies. in the fact that the bomb existed and that the cause of its origin will continue to plague society for generations to come, I do not believe that this scene is an accurate summary of Neto's characterization because, while he is far from a nobleman and man honest, he was not as sinister as the humanity on the scene was.
Instead, I think of Neto's final stand with his Wedding as an apt microcosmic representation of the Man full of heartfelt resolve and gratitude, his final acts of battle demonstrate the extreme dedication and passion that Neto's character put into his craft. incredibly done if you look at just his mines, but it's only when you separate the themes and symbolism associated with him that you truly realize how supreme a character he is. I mentioned the symbolic impact of it in my religious symbolism video. but here I'm going to go a little deeper because Neto is absolutely rich symbolically and represents both light and darkness and Hunter Hunter Neto is clearly a nod to Buddhism visually, but some of the Buddhist ideas associated with him are so profound because of how well that integrate with Neto himself and his role in the story, while contrasting his darker nature.
His four years of training in the desert were an extreme form of aism, a type of traditionally physical self-discipline usually experienced to achieve In a sense, Neto achieved mastery over purification of the body or enhanced spirituality and used his newly revitalized gratitude To form his ideals, both the dark ones we see based on contempt for weakness and the lighter ones we see rooted in love and appreciation for his passion and genuine human acts, this aesthetic ritual led Neto to develop his power masterful, the 100 types of Guan bodies ATA, this power that may or may not have been inspired by the JoJo series supports, but was definitely inspired by Buddhist ideas, not only formed the core of one of the best fights in the entire series , but it was a representation of Neto's gratitude and love-based ideologies, as well as a bodysuit.
SATA can be a fairly abstract concept, but in basic terms it has to do with gratitude, love and compassion, the word itself is derived from the word body which means Awakening or Spiritual Enlightenment and SATA which refers to a being or thing for What technically an ATA bodis can be defined as a person who achieves spiritual enlightenment in Mahay Bodas Buddhism SAA refers to a human being committed to achieving Enlightenment for the sake of others, while the first part of this definition, a person committed to achieving Enlightenment, can be applied to Netto, the second part may not sound familiar to you, but this definition actually fits his Hermitage aesthetic and training.
Netto found himself enlightened and while he may not have seemed like a very selfless individual, the fact is that in the end he sacrificed himself for the survival of humanity, so with that in mind, the b-word ATA fits Netto like a glove. and this concept of love and compassion is evident throughout. the narrative too, although kugi caused initial disquiet in him, Maro's understanding and enlightenment that humans can be beautiful and that exceptional things came from his encounter with Neto, managed to change his ideas of pure dominance over humanity to something much deeper, all of this led to Maro's Enlightenment, which was heavily influenced by the characteristics of love and gratitude, both involved with Neto and the concept of SATA weddings and during Neto's fight, the deep joy of Netto facing his opponent's strength causes him to show his appreciation several times during the battle, so This is all well and good, but is there anything else that Netto represents?
This is up to interpretation, but for me the answer is a resounding yes. Humanity is a race of extremes and Netto's aism simultaneously represents two almost opposite sides of humanity. In it, he shows the potential for meticulous contemplation and also madness. Meam himself exclaims that Netto's skill could only be achieved by someone who pushed himself far beyond the point of sense. He also embodies humanity's self-interest more than ever through the miniature rose, a weapon that would not exist if humanity did not wage war against itself, but ironically saved humanity; In theory, weapons like this used by humans against other humans should have led to self-implosion, but due to the depressing form of what it represents, it led to the opposite salvation and To compound the irony, while the bomb itself was representative of the selfish and reckless individuality of humanity, netto's represented something very ant-like, it was an act of loyalty and altruism for the colony, if I may, being consistent with the fundamentals and love and respect of the zat weddings.
The way Netto's ant-like death contrasted with Maro's enlightened and very human farewell was a stroke of absolute genius. The ants and humans were so blurred that maybe they weren't even there. The opposing party hit every individuality and extreme emotion versus altruism and a colony mentality, and while the Chimera Ant Arch was depressing and dark in many ways with many of these themes. In reality, Netto was associated with this marriage and the extreme opposition between humans and ants expressed through meam and Neto had a positive note that humans are not only capable of emotional fulfillment but also of defending their fellow humans and live for others.
Netto is a beautifully realized Character who is as effective as he is because of the dichotomy he represents. For every hopeful and positive theme addressed through his ideas, there is a dark one that represents love, compassion and gratitude, but also cynicism and malice, and many of them are yet to be discovered. and even the acting, so there's still a lot we don't know, but what I do know is that he is one of the most well-realized characters in Hunter Hunter in terms of not only his characterization and arc, but also the way he The themes associated with the man gave more weight to the messages communicated through the series.
It is for good reason that Aneto's analysis has been the second most requested video idea on this channel and I can only hope that you think I have done it. justice. Here this is usually the part where I thank everyone for taking the time out of their day to watch this video, but I have one more thing to add after a couple of commenters asked me about this, I've obviously decided to launch a Patreon. This is not a necessity and is more than enough for you to simply watch and comment on my videos, but if you would like to go the extra mile to support the channel, here is a way to do so.
I would appreciate it more than I can express. with words if that's something any of you want to do and it would help a lot with the video production and there are also a couple of small rewards for pledging so if you want to donate a dollar or a month to help me then that would be awesome but yeah you can't or don't want to, then that's great too. I will continue to give my all to making these videos and most of the joy I get from YouTube comes from taking apart these wonderful stories. and interact with you amazing people anyway.
That being said, thank you so much again for watching and I'll see you all later, don't forget to let me know what you think of the amazing character that is Isaac Netto and let me know if you want. what you would like to see in the next Hunter Hunter video because for the first time I don't really know what the next one is going to be about. I have an extensive list of topics to choose from but any comments or suggestions for the next one would be appreciated unless the suggestion rhymes with drolo moous silfur because I already know, cheers guys.
