I'm the video producer for the channel, you can call me PD and the culture studio is where we watch kpop music videos and I use my personal experience in my professional experience to provide analysis and I'm Korean-American. I grew up around Korean culture my whole life so I'm very familiar with the inner workings of K-pop and I'm also an aspiring film director and I've worked on a few productions and been on music video sets. so I'm trying to give as much information as I can today, let's review now this is a long title so give me a little, give me a little freedom, let's watch the BTS

I know this is the title song. I know this is not the official music video. I know the official music video is coming out on the 28th, but yeah, that's it. I know we've seen Swan, we've seen ego. Oh, an interesting choice for shooting outdoors in white in the afternoon was that random shot, the color grading was completely different, oh. okay, shoot with the drone, that's why this is a very different portion for home, oh my god, sugar has sugar, it finally has a long extended portion in a title track, it's been a hot minute. Oh, that kind of echo you hear along with that notice. that an organ like in the background almost sounds angelic a little holy like it's singing like in a cathedral oh now you have like the backup vocals in the background oh I like that guy all these kicks oh I'm going for these kicks both in the audio and visually, oh they straight up have a band, oh my god, Shimon looks so amazing, oh my god, I can see why they did it, I can see why they did it, I really appreciate that they did it, but I think Totally, there is a lot of pressure now.

I think they completely painted themselves into a corner and must be very confident to release this before their music video. I mean, this is essentially more than just a presentation video, it's more than just the presentation. The movie is something that is strictly dedicated to showing this performance with all of his backup dancers with the band. This will be different from the music video, but hey, the music video will be better. That is the question. This is already incredibly epic and obviously checking out. This came out very late, it already has 81 million views and this came out without even a date.

No, why is there no date? Well, that's weird, but it came out last Friday, it's Monday, so I'm checking this out. A couple of days late, but you know, in my environment there are people who like the song or there are people who are really disappointed with the song. I'm not really anywhere in between for me, I think BTS's most recent

back, starting with DNA when they started making their global push. I think this is actually their best title song. Fake Love gives you a run for your money, but Fake Love is very much a K-pop song.

Fake Love, without a doubt, is very much a K-pop song. Boy with love. It was more of a mix between a more western sound mixed with k-pop elements, but for me, boy with love didn't exactly hit the Mart, it wasn't terrible, but it felt like they were experimenting and trying out a new genre basically. It's about basically trying to do what all these groups that are trying to do American impulses are trying to do, find a cohesive middle ground and in the middle where it's K-pop and American pop music at the same time and I think about it during I Personally, I mean, if you don't agree or not, that's okay.

I think he finds a great middle ground in the song now. I don't know how much of what we hear here is the actual song, obviously I haven't heard the album there. There are big dance breaks broken out here that might not be present in the actual audio recording, so I'm really curious to check it out, but that being said, I think I personally really like it. I think it's a good healthy mix of American pop. and korean pop is somewhere in the middle where it doesn't lean too much towards one side or the other, it's not towards kpop but not towards american pop, it's a weird kind of middle ground where you don't know where to place yourself. that and that's what I feel global pop music should sound like, that's just my personal opinion, now we're going to watch this again because of course we're going to watch it again because after watching it now I have a lot more things to say.

I really absorbed it that first time, so let's get into it this time. I love it, as does the whole concept with these drumsticks and it feels like a giant drum line, essentially matching them in the background, the way they are posed feels so much more. like a drum arm with a little superman fabric in his hair that literally looks cute it has to be a drone wow that wide shot was so good so what i'm noticing also in these outfits i loved it loved it how they took It's a big risk by essentially dressing Timmy and V all in white and it seems like the overall vocal line uses lighter colors.

Jungle is perhaps the only one because, like the rap line, she dresses very, very dark before Chung is seen. somewhere in between oh I gotta listen to this guy, I hope this is one of my favorite Hope verses, it must be because it's like J-Hope has a very particular rap style, but I feel like here it was a little more gentle. Slightly softer cotton that transitions right into sugar lines, it just sounds a lot, oh they brought in real drums, I didn't even realize that first one, oh I love how they just turn around and then hand you the sticks.

BTS and they are playing drums, oh, there's a lot, a lot to do with the choreography. God to the center Chi Minh, come to me, God, you are dancing with such power, intensity and vigor. This might have to be one. of my favorite BTS choreography from BTS, but I don't even know how much of this will be the same for the commercial aspect part because again, some of this choreography might be purely just for this movie again, this just feels like the culmination of BTS . popularity like some kind of angelic church like a choir line literally people like to create a runway for it oh what a great shot like this.

He peaks over the tunngle and then comes back down, that's my only little nitpick right there he went off. the return after the reveal wasn't as intimidating, but this part, oh my god, everything that was filmed, how it happened with them, all of that was so perfect. Wow, that's zoom, oh my god, dude, these are digital zooms, be it old, okay, there was Jill's room. but there is a lot of real physical zoom and kpop, these videos actually do a lot of digital zooms where in post production they actually use a mix between VFX to have similar digital zooms for similar shots, but this is authentic, there are a couple of digital ones.

He zooms in here and there, but a lot of this is just authentic camera work. This is probably my favorite part when you switch from v2t min right here, this section of the platform right there, the weights are like stepping on the ground. Wow this is flawless and the way he says over and over and then Carib punches and punches it has to be a digital zoom Wow Wow okay for me personally like I said this is easily my favorite obviously a love Fake gives you a run for your money, but out of all of this this is my favorite and as a filmmaker I really appreciate that they made this in the first place.

You know, the word kinetic has to do with motion and kind of like kinetic energy and you. I can really feel that this video is alive. I mean, I had this discussion a couple of months ago about someone who was like, yeah, I don't want to shoot dance videos or kpop dance videos or kpop dance choreography cover videos because it's not that artistic or it's not fun or it's not. I want to be known as that guy because it's not like I'm really underrated, but you know, it's kind of the same thing, the style of how it's filmed and this was a conversation that I had and you know it's one.

What I noticed is that there is no need to shoot dance and performance films like everyone else does. You could throw everything you can throw at a big budget into just a performance film and change the way dance films are made, you know? I think the discussion was as if he thought dance films couldn't be creative, at least up to this point they couldn't be artistic. You know that a filmmaker, an author who works in the cinematographic field, cannot find joy or purpose within a dance. videography music video kingdom this video proves it wrong. I always knew that in theory it could be done, but no one had done it before, but I always knew it could be done and they did it here perfectly.

Some people were confused and thought this was the real music. video I had conversations with some people who thought, yeah, I don't know, it looks like a really low-budget music video. I think it's not a music video. I already knew this because I knew the news beforehand. This is not a music video this is a performance film the fact that anyone could even mistake it for a music video already says a lot about the quality of this kinetic film now that being said like I said there is a lot of pressure with the music video of the day 28 then and The fact that they are waiting a week to release this music video means that this music video has to be nothing short of legendary because from a marketing point of view, this video should have been released after the music video.

I don't see a possible reason why. they would release this first unless the music video is better because usually you release acting and dance movies because you don't want to spoil the initial song or choreography or you use it as a marketing tool to continue to help promote your albums. You release the music video and that's the initial promotion of your album for album sales and then after a week or a few weeks you release the performance to then continue those sales. They released this first, so I'm really curious to know what. your way of thinking was behind it and I think everything will be revealed when the music video comes out because I have to assume that the only logical reason why the only way they release this first is because this music video that is coming out on the 28th is going to explode. people's minds, you know, I'm talking like they blow people's minds, like we think about the music videos that have come out of BTS during their global promotions DNA fake love Idol boy with love their solo music videos their standard music videos yeah whether they're good or not, whether they're great or not, they just say wow, that was a really good level to release this kinetic movie as a prelude to that, it's going to be on a different level, it has to be that's the only way I see this, either that or someone. made a huge misstep in their marketing department, but it's a huge success and I don't think a huge success is making missteps in their marketing department, BTS, so there's a very particular reason why they're releasing this first and I guess we'll find out later. week, but guys, thanks for watching this video with me, what did you think of the BTS kinetic movie?
