The Evolution Of Palpatine (Animated)

But how has Palps evolved throughout the series? Let's revisit their designs and ever-changing history to find out! In episode 1, Senator Palpatine wears a green tunic with puffy arms, a button-down shirt, and tall boots. He also secretly sports a hooded robe with an additional brooch and a simple tunic, and calls himself Darth Sidious.

In this disguise, he trains a Sith apprentice and manipulates greedy aliens to start a trade war with his ruled planet. As people take pity on his plight, he is able to usurp the Chancellorship, giving him close access to Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker. In episode 2, he wears a black and brown outfit with long sleeves and appears much older. He also wears a purple tunic that has gathered shoulders and an additional cross section on the torso. He arranges a forbidden romantic trip for Anakin and, as Sidious, along with his new apprentice, helps gather an army of droids for the Republic's separatists.

Meanwhile, as Chancellor, he is granted emergency powers, allowing the republic to use a Clone Army to defend themselves against the droid army. In episode 3, Palpatine dresses in a textured gray robe, while his hair is now pure white. He also wears a gray version of his long-sleeved outfit from Episode 2 and another transverse tunic, but with less puffy shoulders and a red color scheme. After revealing his Sith identity to Anakin, a group of Jedi Masters come to arrest him. As he cuts through most of them like butter, one of the Jedi reflects his beam back at him, revealing his disfigured face, yellow eyes, and rotting teeth.

He recruits Anakin to help him, giving him the advantage. He then takes Anakin as his new apprentice, Darth Vader, and covers his disfigurement with a black robe. He then orders his Clone Army to execute the remaining Jedi. His new Sith outfit consists of red robes with a heavy plate on the shoulders and a long pattern on the front, as well as brown robes, with dark details on the shoulders, taut sleeves, and a triangular closure. Dressed in his Sidious garb, he and Darth Vader reign over his new empire. In The Empire Strikes Back, Palpatine initially looked like an old woman with bulky prosthetics and monkey irises, although in the DVD release, he looks like his Episode 3 self.

But he only has a quick hologram chat with Vader to talk about his son, so Let's move on... In Return of the Jedi, Palpatine comes to oversee the completion of the second Death Star. He now uses a staff, he wears a detailed (and belted) tunic, and his face appears less puffy with a faint shadow over his eyes. He attempts to convince Vader's son to become his apprentice, but after being rejected, Palpatine attacks him with lightning, only for Vader to throw him down a pit, which apparently causes him to explode. The Battlefront 2 game would feature sentinel droids with domed heads and red dresses that would play recordings of Emperor Palpatine communicating plans for how to continue after his death.

Then, in The Force Awakens, a new figure would rise in the form of the 7-foot-tall Supreme Leader Snoke. He is wearing a gold bathrobe and his face is sunken and scarred. Just a few hours later, his face appears more rounded and his shoulders broader. He recruits Vader's grandson, Kylo Ren, to eliminate the budding Jedi, Rey, but instead, Kylo cuts Snoke in two... ... only for it to be revealed in Episode 9 that Snoke was one of the many clones of Snoke, created somehow by Palpatine, who Himself was recovered by dark science and cloning. This time, his robe has no opening in the front and the sleeves on his arms are shorter.

He lacks most of his scars, is paler, has no pupils, and has withered limbs that prevent him from standing. He is kept alive by a giant medical device and now spends his time sitting in the dark among unpleasant strobe lights. He recruits Kylo Ren to kill his granddaughter Rey, apparently born to a missing clone of Palpatine, but when his plan fails, he asks Rey to take him down so her spirit can enter her. . She refuses, so he sucks the strength from both her and Kylo, ​​restoring her body and allowing him to leave her life support. He then changes his old robe into new black and crimson clothes, as well as an electronic belt.

Despite his apparent UNLIMITED POWER! When Rey deflects his beam with a second lightsaber, it is easily shattered, ending Palpatine's reign, until the next clones come to power, that is...
