The End of iCarly

Apr 19, 2024
I'm for those of you who missed our last adventure. Here's a quick recap last time on this channel. I did a 5 hour deep dive into the origins of the Icarly comedy and franchise, starting with episode 1 of season 1 and ending with the season finale. 3. Workload aside, I stopped there mainly because I really think that the first three seasons of

icarly

and the last three seasons of

icarly

feel like totally different eras and therefore it's appropriate to analyze them separately if you recently binged icarly on netflix. Season 4 is also the first batch of episodes that they don't have and also, I think in season 4 a lot of people left the show when they were kids, partly because it wasn't promoted as often, so if you remember the first three. seasons or you've re-watched them recently and just want a recap of the rest, then this is the video for you, but if you're looking for a full recap of the entire story, I recommend checking out the icarly playlist located on my channel which will show you the entire saga from start to finish and you should be able to click on it here or here right now, unless you're watching this on TV, in which case, what are you showing this to your mom?
the end of icarly
One last thing. Before we really get started here and this should be obvious but I just want to make it clear. I won't be covering Icarly's resurgence in this video and that's partly because I haven't really been paying attention to it. I mean, I didn't. I even watched the trailer when it came out. I logged off of all social media to avoid it and I'm basically trying to become a hermit just to stay away from spoilers related to it, but most importantly, as I've said many times and will continue to say that I started working on this project before that they announced the resurgence and, in my opinion, the resurgence does not exist until we get to it.
the end of icarly

More Interesting Facts About,

the end of icarly...

The year is 2010 and a new season of icarly is about to start airing. just an order to these things and I have a kind of vision of what I'm doing here and believe me when I say that when we get to the end I think everything will be really very satisfying so if you don't want to miss the inevitable video where I do a review Of the entirety of that that we're now going to pretend isn't real, I suggest going down, hitting subscribe, and setting the bell for all notifications. I know it's probably depressing that I keep saying. this, but I'm really building a lot of motivation from the fact that we keep gaining subscribers and I want to keep that momentum going so you guys hit subscribe, it'll take you two seconds and it really makes my day, however, I also want to quickly mention that if If you really like these videos and want to ensure that I can make more, I suggest you subscribe to my patreon.
the end of icarly
I've been hiring a lot of editors to do these. So I can keep writing and recording without having to stop to edit a week's worth of footage and I can only afford it because of the little support you guys give me on that site, plus I just added a brand. new extended patreon goal, if we reach 2000 backers I will do a review of every Garfield video game ever released. I went ahead and counted the other day and I think it's around 130 games, so it might be a little expensive and it might take a while to get it right, but if you want to support the channel and you want to help us eventually make that great video and a once again consider supporting me on Patreon, just throwing a dollar or two really helps the cause anyway come on.
the end of icarly
Let's go ahead and begin our discussion where we left off before icarly seasons two and three are actually a unique case study because despite airing for three years, both seasons were actually one continuous production block that produced much more episodes. faster than they were being. What's notable about this is that they finished filming the season 3 finale long before it aired about 10 months prior and after they finished filming the show took a long hiatus in production, which meant that everyone Those working on the show were randomly given about nine months off despite being at the peak of their popularity.
This break allowed a large part of the cast to look for shorter projects during the wait, for example, around this time. It was when Jeannette McCurdy filmed the cult classic movie about wrestlers Fred The Movie and McCurdy and Jerry Traynor also filmed a high school video game drama titled Best Gamer that didn't air for several years, plus Miranda Cosgrove ended up doing voice work on a slightly darker film titled Despicable Me, I've never heard of it anyway despite everything I've told you about the actions. of the individual cast members is not the most notable thing about this specific production hiatus, but rather the more interesting topic is what the writers and creators of the show were doing while their most popular creation was effectively on hiatus and the answer apparently was that they started. working on a new show with a different cast but a very similar vibe.
Of course, I'm talking about 2010's Victorious, which began airing during season 3 of Icarly and even tied into pre-filmed episodes in some pretty clever ways. I could easily make a standalone video talking. about victorious just breaking down the show and how it's similar to icarly but secretly totally different in every way, but the most notable thing that suddenly came up is that you could argue that victorious wasn't just designed to be a sister show to Icarly, but also a replacement, you see, it was learned around this time that Miranda Cosgrove was planning to take a break from acting, not immediately, but certainly soon, her father had apparently asked her to go to college after high school and have some free time to attend. do it properly and this is something she wouldn't have had time to do during the hectic production schedule of the show's first three seasons.
You have to remember that these actors were actually just children and at some point they had to start planning their future. Outside of this silly teen comedy, Victorious was designed to be the next big thing and also to be stuck in a narrative time loop to allow it to last forever, with all the actors on board supposedly fully prepared to make it last longer than Icarly and because was also a star vehicle for someone who was aiming to be a future pop star, it's very clear at this point that Carly was no longer the main interest of the network or the writers despite being one of the most popular things ever made by Nickelodeon, one of the strangest side effects of this all being true is that season 4 of icarly is easily the most average season of the show, it has bad episodes and bad parts, but it feels bad in the same way as something like Full House feels bad, it's not that mean. or bordering on child abuse and that's entirely because after season 3 a good portion of the show's staff left victoriously to work on a much worse show where their talents were arguably put to better use.
I'm going to justify that statement. Okay, just give me time, please. Another side effect of this is that from here on out, each icarly season is exceptionally short. For the first three seasons of this show, the standard was that each season typically had between 20 and 25 episodes, but in the fourth season that number is cut in half. 10 episodes, season 5 has nine episodes and one blooper episode and season six has 13 episodes, one of which is this kind of weird treehouse horror style episode, so discounting the treehouse episode tree of terror and the bloopers episode, there are 31 canonical episodes of icarly.
For reference: season 1 of icarly has 25 episodes, which means that the first season of icarly is almost as long as the last three seasons total, so this might be a disappointingly short adventure for those of you who were completely intoxicated by the absurd length. from my first video, but I guess the only way to know for sure is to go ahead and start. icarly season 4 episode 1 aired on July 30, 2010, just a month after the season 3 finale premiered, although you'd be forgiven for not doing so. Remembering it that way just because the actor suddenly ages a year between stories is certainly a little distracting and speaking of aging, the plot of this episode is that Carly is celebrating her birthday, which I think means she's 16 or maybe 17, but I'm pretty. sure 16. anyway, the gang gets together and throws him a surprise party with all his friends and loved ones freddy sam spencer gibby that guy from the smoothie shop like the grown man who came to his 16th birthday party, that It's normal, Carly knows this is so much better than her last birthday, which Spencer apparently ruined by taking her to a petting zoo where a goat doesn't talk about what the goat did.
Long story short, Spencer is apparently committed to doing things right this time and does so by making a gummy bear-themed lamp for Carly, who asked Gibby to take her into a room and plug it in as a surprise, and You know, the crazy thing is 65 episodes where we still haven't seen Carly's room, which is weird because they mention it constantly. and it's obviously an essential part of his life, it's where he spends most of his time off screen and that's one of the reasons why this episode was so hyped because it's the first episode of the entire icarly series where We finally get to see what Carly's Room looks like I thought she lived in squalor.
Yes, Spencer's well-intentioned birthday gift caught fire in Carly's room, destroying everything she loves. I bet what that goat did to you last year doesn't seem so bad anymore. What did the goat do to you? Spencer, as an insurance representative, looks at everything destroyed in the fire and is shocked to learn that an antique watch given to them by his great-grandmother is so valuable that they immediately hand him a check for 82,000 and he intends to use the money to build . to give Carly a new room, but sends her to look for a job at Groovy Smoothie to create the expectation that they have run out of money to help repair her room that night, Spencer invites a dozen people to quickly build her a new one. room while Carly emotionally struggles with her new job, come on Carly, so your room burned down.
Look the positive side. What is the positive side? Carly comes home defeated and underpaid and depressed, but Spencer reluctantly drags her upstairs while showing her the new room they have built. For her, truly one of the best living spaces you could ask for when you were a teenager, all financed by the $82,000 that insurance gave them. Spencer spent it all on your room, everyone, honey, which is so stupid because We rented this place, but who cares, so yeah, everyone is celebrating the coolness of this new room. Gibby says some funny things and the episode concludes with a credits scene of the cast singing the victory song to try to get you to watch that show.
Instead, this episode brings something central into play. New elements to the show going forward, first of all, Carly's room will quickly become a centerpiece of the show's narrative, while previously, the gang would basically just be depicted hanging out on Icarly's set, as well. It's Carly's room from now on. This room becomes a kind of lounge where the characters spend a good amount of time together; However, much more notable is the episode's treatment of Gibby and Tebow - while previously both had been beloved supporting characters, from here on both get some form of promotion. Huron's Gibby is constantly billed as one of the show's main characters and the episodes without him will become increasingly rarer and Tevo follows him even though it rarely makes sense for this strange older adult to be so emphatic about dating a 16. years, the point is that as of this point you could argue that the show has gone from struggling to juggle four tracks to a new total of six and with the remaining episodes being so few and far between, I remember being upset as a teenager because The show kept losing focus and I'm wondering if I'll agree with my previous opinion as I continue to move forward.
One thing I know for sure: It will be a cold day in hell before I get tired of watching Tebow. Hey, where can I? Get you ladies today, do you sell shakes? And? Season 4, Episode 2 is a special episode because it features a celebrity guest cameo and also a reveal of a historical character we've never seen before, Glee's Jane Lynch, who appears in fame. The role of Sam's never-before-seen mother in the episode, Sam has another series of massive fights with her mother that eventually causes her to suddenly move away.and start living in the Shea house, however, Carly finds it impossible to put up with Sam, mainly due to his obsessiveness. eat, which leaves his apartment littered with uneaten food and in the heat of the moment, wanting to make things right, he invites Sam's mother over so the two of them can fix things Carly, you have my mother, you have to do peace, not me.
I want any part of her, you don't deserve my parts, this episode makes me uncomfortable and in a way that I guess I couldn't determine as a teenager, but that is very clear to me as an adult, I think the problem at hand is that Sam Mother, by the basic definition of everything we know about her character, is an abusive person, she abuses Sam and that has caused Sam to have massive personality issues, which causes her to also abuse the people in her life and I understand. The point of dealing with this kind of thing when you're a teenager is that if you leave your parents you'll be homeless, but Sam doesn't owe his mother anything.
No child who is abused by their parents owes said parents anything and I simply find Este's overall narrative that Sam and her mother must make up for it because her mother and daughter are a particularly limited take that is extremely unsatisfying and furthermore the more she tries interpret it as comedy, the more tone deaf it seems, like haha, sam grew up without a loving home, ha ha, sam's mother is physically abusive, causing her to act out in fits of violence, that's so funny Carly worries so much for the couple that she takes them to family therapy, but the therapist has apparently never experienced dysfunction before and is at a complete and utter loss.
Watch a show like this and you really find yourself invested and taking note of the kind of consistent story and continuity and then they shuffle the writers around a bit and make a continuity error that still really bothers you, as an example of this piece. dialogue that occurs 15 minutes into the episode when Sam and his mother are together in this therapist's office you two need to spend some time in the therapy box it's a new type of therapy that's a little unorthodox that's cool no we are jewish yes you are sam sam look at me sam look at me you are jewish you have mentioned this numerous times you had a bad mitzvah you have a star of david in your locker at school you are jewish how did she forget that she is jewish this comments section will be full of people who says: well, what if Sam was just lying about his religion?
Yeah, well, what if he was inhaling paint thinner anyway? So this therapist decides that he wants to try a new experimental form of therapy, locks the couple in solitary confinement and that's it. she locks them in a closet and starts crying your friends are crazy yes yes they are you are a therapist this is your first day at work carly gets locked in the box and the therapist doesn't let her out either soon enough we find out that carly has a deathly claustrophobia and he starts having an intense episode that happens I can't help but notice that he's making goat noises is it a coincidence or is he claustrophobic from the encounter he had with that goat I don't know this episode Meanwhile, it sucks, in the B plot, the wonderful Smoothie is suddenly attacked by a hammer-wielding bandit who attacks the store before fleeing in an instant.
We soon learn that all the security cameras in the area are busted, as the criminal is famous for sneaking in beforehand and disabling all the security cameras in the area somehow, however, during the robbery, he is seen Freddy trying out a pair of glasses with a hidden camera and manages to film the culprit in the act in the chaos resulting from being the first person to capture the film. The full name and address of Freddy, the violent hammer bandit, are stated live over the air, leading him to become a paranoid mess as he worries that Maxwell may soon hunt him down for violent revenge.
In the end, Spencer manages to trick the bandit by exchanging Freddie's apartment number. with another resident down the hall who somehow functions as the criminal is completely fooled by the tactic when he was a child. I remember this part of the episode was actually very frustrating because they introduce this guy as one of the stealthiest smart criminals in the Seattle area and also as someone who relies on hitting things with hammers for the second half of his plan and also as someone who is unable to realize when a simple license plate change has been orchestrated in front of him and also that the police are still unable to identify him at At this point, when he is a rather extravagant looking guy, anyway, let's move on to episode 3 of season 4, I get jokey in the episode.
Sam and Freddie are talking about the best pranks they've ever pulled on people and Carly admits something she's never pulled on her. about someone outside of icarly's web show, I'm sure it will happen when she meets the right person, the group decides they have to get Carly to lose her prank wit, but her pranks are consistently terrible and fail to spark anything negative. response from his victims this is until Spencer tells him a story about how when he was in ninth grade he was once known as the king of pranks until things went too far and he accidentally hurt several of his classmates by putting garlic on them. powder in the eyes.
He's supposed to be funny, it was just a joke. Carly listens to the story, but the only thing she takes away is that Spencer can teach her how to make good pranks. Spencer insists that he abandoned the game, but after a round of puppy dog eyes, he finally relents. After that, Carly texts Sam and Freddy and tells them to go to Icarly's studio. There they see a tray with plates and a note that claims to be from Neville telling them that he left them a gift. That gift appears to be Carly's decapitated head before she reveals that it was just a prank, bro.
After this, we quickly learn that Spencer is now once again addicted to pranks. Carly tries to get her to stop, but she doesn't and pranks more people. She beats him up and she decides not to play pranks on people anymore. This episode is all a subplot. I remember that this is a very common thing from now on. Well, there's one part of this episode that's actually super notable, maybe the most notable thing in the entire season. There is a scene in the middle of the. episode where the characters tell gibby to climb a ladder and then jump off the roof and sure enough he goes ahead and wait we forgot about gibby oh yeah for quite some time now this has been circulating as some sort of meme viral, often under the title.
Gibby dies taking full advantage of the fact that that fall really seems like it hurt him, but a few years ago, the actor who played Gibby revealed that it was all stunt work, a stunt actor did it, but he wasn't acting because he really did. It hurts me because that stunt actor got seriously hurt in that clip, there's that meme where I fall and die, that Gibby dies, he hits the ground really hard, it's funny, but yeah, that stunt was that guy broke all the ribs or something like that. fall off the roof and just hit the ground and get hit by the wind, but dude, that guy hit that ground, he was actually just murdering you, yeah, in the script he was supposed to fall to the ground with no safety or anything like that.
If anyone is curious, watch the clip on YouTube. This is a brutal trick. He was really hurt and yeah, did you have to stop the show because of that or because of the taping? I think, I think so, I think he got carried away, we stopped filming. I think it's amazing where you get this shot of the man literally killing himself and that's the one that ends up in the show. Is incredible. I remember correctly, he wasn't doing much of that. WWE doesn't even go that far when it comes to realism. The most revealing. For me, part of this sequence is the reaction that the actors give to this guy who just falls to the ground, everyone stiffens up and, uh, Nathan Cress specifically makes this face that I don't think he could have acted like that, honestly, an open-mouthed look.
Seeing this man die in front of him, one thing that people don't talk about in this scene is that this stuntman supposedly fell in an unsafe, unpadded environment and broke a bunch of ribs and when they filmed the pickup footage, I guess some. Days later, when they filmed that pickup footage, they wrote a joke in which Gibby mentions that he broke his ribs. Did you hear my ribs crack? It's like I'm trying to imagine the people who made this show sending someone to the hospital and knowing that their actions directly led to someone being seriously injured and sent to the emergency room and then everything going well, we're ambivalent about this Talk about ambivalence, let's skip episode 4 for now because it contains a crime and easily one of the worst things the cast has done so far, so let's move on to season 4 episode 5, the boring wedding, a fan sends a email saying they want to propose to their girlfriend live on icarly, he does it and she.
He says yes and the entire Icarly gang is invited to his wedding with Carly and Sam being the bridesmaids and Freddie being the best man, which causes a conflict with the groom's brother, who is angry that he wasn't chosen to be the groom. Godfather, just watch your back on the Internet. Boy, however, the wedding is suddenly interrupted when the bride declares that she has fallen in love with Spencer, someone who has been in the same room as her for barely an hour at this point, and honestly, honey, I can't blame you or to this boy. uh, keep it up, I'm sure they kept filming it.
It wasn't my choice. How do you like me to grab your lip? Don't know. Carly tries to get the groom to sing a romantic song she wrote about her fiancée, but he is so embarrassed that he urinates in front of all of her friends and family, but Carly sings the song herself and saves the wedding. buy miranda cosgrow album now available for 29.99 anyway i love this season because it's boring all these episodes are boring but don't make me feel bad which is an improvement we're halfway through the season By the way, episode 6 of season 4 should be a kind of salvation for us because it is the first real event episode of the season and, furthermore, it is one of the last episodes of the series, which are unambiguously about a element of influencer culture that hasn't yet been adequately explored: web creator conventions and the ways in which audience members can interact with creators at said events, of course, I'm talking about them. the classic two part episode i start a fan war at the beginning of this episode carly is at school and ends up falling in love with a specific generic toy she sees in the hallway freddy showing his slowly developed sense of maturity he doesn't really flaunt any signs of Insecurity about this almost encourages Carly to go after him if she really likes him.
Later that week, said boy contacts Carly, who starts the conversation by asking him about Icarly's ships, as we discover in the episode that audiences who watch the show Icarly website have been developed. a shipping culture identical to the real world that leaves many fans speculating about who Freddie should end up with and many people online assuming that Carly and Freddie have been dating for several years. Carly discourages this idea and responds emphatically when Adam asked her out of it. date that Saturday but in the end she has to turn him down because that Saturday is the annual webicon a convention she was supposed to attend the year before before being kidnapped by an obsessive fan the dialogue in this episode directly says that the end of season 3 was a year ago for icarly gang coinciding with the production schedule of the episodes but not with the broadcast order since in the real world i psycho was broadcast just 5 months before the episode in question and so that on Saturday all They arrive at the convention, but are overwhelmed by how popular they are with the webicon attendees, as at one point Freddy is grabbed by fangirls and nearly torn to shreds before re-entering for a few seconds once he realizes how little he has. he feels a woman's touch later during the convention. convention, the official icarly panel takes place and the room is filled with ecstatic fans of the web show from all corners of the world and as we learn, the entire room has been divided into two warring factions, Freddy and me We are not in a romantic relationship.
I respectfully disagree, this is made worse by the fact that Adam, the boy from school that Carly likes, also decided to attend the panel and runs out of the room, as the crowd also convinces him that Carly and Freddie are secretly in love and destined to. being together, something they both deny, but Sam encourages them for the fun of it, meanwhile, in the b-plot, Spencer gets into a fight with special guest star Jack Black, which ends with the two having an epic battle of ingenuity and then weapons and wristbands in the meantime. the plot of the sea gibby tries to get to the convention but her grandfather is blind and they get stuck in the upside down hamburger in the plot sam brings carly swoon tied up to prevent her from leaving and tells herthe audience that Carly and Freddie are not actually dating, causing the crowd to assume that Sam and Freddie are dating, instead igniting a riot between the two factions and things culminate in Carly being almost Geraldo Rivera, However, Sam is finally able to calm the crowd and Carly gives a definitive speech on how. icarly was never about shipping culture icarly is not really about our romantic relationships icarly is about comedy carly casually mentions that the guy tied up in the front row is the only person she wants to date, which makes the mob physically assaults him like a mob, causing Carly to roll her eyes and walk away and presumably leave another ex-boyfriend to be sent to the ICU, yeah, poor Adam, well, come on, you see guys, this is what Icarly tries to avoid the repercussions of his actions.
I start a fan war in one of the final episodes. in the program's execution dedicated to studying unique aspects of Internet culture, in this case the phenomenon of people relating real-world people to each other as if they were cartoon characters and not real human beings; However, in a much broader way, we have to recognize that that's not at all what this episode is about, I'm actually starting a fan war, it's an anti-subtle critique of icarly's own fandom, essentially they tells viewers at home that they enjoy icarly for the wrong reasons, the show's creator tells me. at the time he used to use his internet blog to talk about shipping culture on his shows and this episode was probably a way of trying to dissuade the audience from topics like that, which is a little strange because most of season 3 was dedicated to fanning the flames of the shipping wars, even this episode itself was promoted as if it were an explicitly romantic episode, which was obviously not the case.
This is certainly an episode I remember seeing at the time, but I also think it was the first one. episode I watched that made me realize that icarly was going to have a bit of an immersive quality. In fact, I remember right after we finished this, I had this horrible feeling that we were going to get to the end and Freddie wasn't going to end up with anyone, you know what I mean and today it sounds like a silly thing to complain about, but I want to say it was five years, five years. story arc where Nickelodeon hooked an entire generation and the answer they came up with was that you were a loser if you cared about what was going to happen, but I think another fault line this episode created is that icarly started out as a comedy situation about a group of fictional teenagers who become Internet famous within their universe and the repercussions of that happening to them;
However, by this point in the series, icarly had become such a big show that it became a meta-contextual commentary in itself. existence as a cultural phenomenon, so they're starting to phase out the smart, well-thought-out stories about internet culture and replacing all of that with jokes where the characters know they're in a sitcom, happy birthday, do you? what is it? that your tagline, in other words, the show has taken on its own enthusiasm in a way that I personally find quite annoying and the further we go beyond this, the more the writers will deviate and the more it will feel like Anyway, I absolutely despise the reasons why the kids were watching at home, let's delve into the filler as we watch season 4 episode 7, I hire an idiot, let's finish this quickly, it barely bears mentioning that the Icarly gang is tired of working on the web show. and they decide to hire an intern, however, Carly and Sam decide to hire a hot guy in 2010 despite him being a complete and total idiot, they said Himbo continues to ruin the show, but Carly and Sam are so paralyzed by his raw sexuality. who refuse to fire him.
He, in retaliation, Freddy hires a female version of this, which the girls call offensive, but Freddie says he'll only fire his hot idiot if they fire theirs, I'll fire my female idiot when you shoot your himbasal eventually later. The woman in turn steals a baby and the man in turn eats a lot of raw meat. The group eventually agreed to fire all interns. Oh, and then the girl is really smart, but I guess she really kidnapped that baby anyway. I know I just said that in the fan convention episode. is one of the final episodes about internet culture in a major way, but there's actually another episode in Season 4 that substantially looks at a phenomenon that's become a big thing online in recent years.
I'm talking about episode 8 of season 4. Pity Neville, which features the return of Neville Paperman and the repercussions of his massive public shaming, so the plot of this one is about the phenomenon of Karen's viral clips of human beings who are absolutely horrible people and then become the fascination of a very boring and very angry person. In the story, Neville is randomly caught on video yelling at a girl for bumping into him in the store, which causes her to start to cry as his anger only grows anyway, this viral clip gets millions of views on Splashface and his life is ruined. overnight, which made the whole gang celebrate as they should, and then they recorded the new episode of icarly, which features a cutaway parody where Freddy is dressed as a sexy vampire.
This parody really isn't that funny on a superficial level, but in- The spot images are so fucking surreal that I'm trying to find all the words in the world to describe this, just so I can continue showing you visual examples of Freddy dressed like Robert Pattinson. You have seen some good television programs recently. Wouldn't the gang designate a karma party, a party that celebrates that their archenemy's life has fallen apart solely due to his own actions? There Freddy discovers that the Seattle girls are obsessed with his performance in the sketch that they swoon over him, but only when he does the voice of Twilight I edited the whole movie with new software, I just got the cutting room flow, yeah, aha, that was all for real, meanwhile, Neville's entire life has fallen apart as everyone he meets treats him badly because We've all seen the viral clip of him being cruelly tortured by this Neville is consumed In a continuous avalanche of self-loathing and self-loathing, he even loses track of his revenge ambitions and Rue Neville goes to Icarly's gang and tries to convince them to allow him to use the icarly platform to show that he regrets his actions. .
Sam says they will, but only if Neville drinks punch from his dirty sneaker that he's been wearing for over a year, he goes through with it and they agree to help. him filming an apology video where he hands out free shakes and bags of creamed corn, of course this ends horribly when the internet en masse sees through neville's desperate attempt to find a way out of his mistakes and then go after the icarly gang for colluding with For him, there's a really weird joke at this point where Spencer is mad because he doesn't have a B plot in this one, overtly the joke is that Spencer is mad because he doesn't have enough scenes in the episode and I don't.
I know I like some fourth wall jokes, but at this point it seems like Icarly does this every other episode and it's just lazy that the Icarly gang makes Neville do a live apology video on the web show and they even bring out shine the girl in an emotional moment that goes equally viral, Neville honestly thanks the gang for helping him change his life and does not reveal any kind of secret plan related to the events of the story before running into a man in a chair. wheels and again have another moment of panic with Karen. which once again goes completely viral, this brings us to episode 9 of season 1, OMG, which in my opinion is the true finale of the season as it leads directly into the main story arc of season 5, casually omitting the actual ending that hadn't aired yet.
At this point I'm really surprised that I didn't see this episode as a kid because I certainly would have been very excited even if as an adult this episode is really weird, let's break this one down in the story, we learned that Ridgeway has an annual tradition where the body student is locked in the building overnight and forced to work on various scientific experiments. The school has recently had a new transfer: a guy named brad who actually applied to be an intern at icarly several episodes before and he and freddie. Start working on a phone app for your school presentation.
The application is designed to scan the faces of the user to identify the mood of the person in question. Sam, upon hearing this speech, decides to join in and begins spending a lot of time with the two boys on the day of the confinement, Freddy scans Sam's face as part of the experiment only to identify his mood as in love. He shares this information with Carly and they both come to the exact same conclusion about all the clues laid out before. Sam is in love with what his face is talking about, can we stop for a moment here and talk about Carly's project because it's one of the strangest things on the show so far?
His experiment involves inviting his brother to school and locking him up. a soundproof box that he cannot see or hear, then selectively tortures him with different stimuli while he is locked inside playing loud pop music. He hates filling the box with stinky gas and then starving him until he's begging for food, at which point she says. that she can only eat if she's blindfolded since it turns out she has electrical wires attached to the metal plate and electrocutes him when he starts eating, maybe we need to revisit the fan theory that Carly is secretly Megan, I dunno .
What this subplot is about, they never give it a conclusion, so all we can deduce is that maybe Carly is trying to give herself therapy by recreating traumatic situations, like the Nora incident, but most likely she just wanted to hook up. a car. battery up her brother's balls, that's all we can gather anyway, Carly tells Sam about the app saying she has a crush on it and Sam acts embarrassed and angry saying the app was wrong. Carly tries really hard to get Sam and Brad to connect and they tell her that. She deserves to be happy and find someone she is happy with.
Sam gets into a massive fight with Carly over this and ends up sulking in the schoolyard, at which point Freddy approaches her and tries to give her a pep talk. Freddie says Carly is right. above all and that Sam deserves to be happy and that he shouldn't be afraid to share his emotions, especially with a boy he secretly likes because he never knows how that boy will react or how things will go, at which point Sam kisses Freddy. and this is where we end the fourth season with Sam and Freddie realizing that they might honestly have a chance at a real relationship or at least that's how the season ends because immediately after this episode, season 4, episode 10, aired a mega crossover with the program. victorious which aired out of its logical chronological order, as it is supposed to be set before episode 8, which in turn is set before episode 7. i party with victorious is the longest episode of the show, lasting of three episodes instead of the usual two. and it's easily the worst episode of season four and we're skipping it for now.
Let's move on to the season's crime recap for those of you who missed the first video. I've been following every crime he committed. The game commits in the show and I've been ranking them at the end of each season as a fun little thing that you'll be able to understand, don't worry, okay, starting with us is the first crime of this video and our eye crime. Child danger number 33, but not the kind attempted at the beginning of season 4, episode 1, when Carly announces that her birthday is coming up. Spencer enters with a giant cake which Gibby emerges from for a visual gag.
Gibby exclaims that he couldn't. he breathes into the cake with Spencer saying that he told her to breathe through the tube, at which point the gibster replies, I couldn't find the tube, oh I forgot, it's so easy to forget while watching the show, but gibby carly . Sam and Freddy are all literal kids and Spencer is an adult and when he does something like almost kill Gibby by baking him into a cake, you remember that this is not good for him anyway for our next crime. I guess I'll be in a bit of a gray area and that begs the question: Are Gibby and Tebow the main characters?
They certainly appear constantly and are often billed as the protagonists of the show, so when they commit a crime, it's worth noting even when it's a crime committed against one of the actual main characters, let's just throw thegiven and let's say the answer is yes anyway in episode 1, as you may remember, Carly briefly gets a job working at Groovy Smoothie, however, she is shocked to discover that Groovy Smoothie has a policy to discourage their workers from washing their hands. hands and apparently the pay is absurdly low when carly gets home she reports that she has worked 12 hours straight and was barely paid enough to pay for a single can of paint for her bedroom, first of all, tebow is clearly violating the strict laws of Washington child labor that clearly state that a 16- to 17-year-old should only be able to work eight hours on a given day and one second based on Carly's estimate that she barely earned enough for a can of paint, let's move on forward. and let's assume she made around 45 on the expensive end of that estimate, if that's the case, Carly was paid 3.75 an hour, well below the 8.55 cents that was Seattle's minimum wage in 2010.
Now, if Carly had been between 14 and 15 years old in 2010 she would have qualified for a slightly reduced minimum wage, a minimum of around dollars and twenty cents an hour, but since we have established basic continuity within the program, it easily means that she You have to be between 16 and 17 years old at the moment and therefore qualify. for the full 8.55 pay rate, I can easily say, based on my study of Washington law, that Tebow in this case has easily violated three very explicit and well-known Washington rules and regulations by not enforcing hand washing, overworking minors and underpaying staff and, therefore, I'm going to go ahead and call those crimes number 34, 35 and 36.
And our next crime, by coincidence, is also a violation of labor laws childish. In season 1, episode 4, the gang realized that people want to buy the terrible designer penny from her. -shirts and begin selling them online, however, Sam eventually breaks down for a few days and when he returns he has over a hundred shirts made from scratch, causing his friends to ask him where he could have gotten them so easily. . Do you want to know how I got them? he made so many cents check it out yeah this isn't a dream sequence or anything like that. Sam has created a store where the workers are fourth grade students and she pays them five dollars a day.
She'll also recognize this room as the one where the guy fell and broke all his ribs, really damn dirt, I don't know what they want me to add to this one, like here I googled if sweatshops are illegal. Google says yes, uh, details about the sweatshops, right, um, there's a scene where this girl. she has a cut and Sam puts duct tape on her arm. There is a scene where we learn that the food they are served at the sweatshop was found in a dumpster and has trash in the food. There is a scene where Sam yells at someone for drinking water. the watch ends up feeding them processed meat in a can meant to be fed to horses that's funny please laugh at the joke carly and freddie decide to take half of the sweatshop upstairs and try to make a factory more fun and light-hearted exploitative, but it turns out that kids don't make t-shirts too quickly when their human rights aren't being violated, and long story short, all the kids end up quitting, starting their own dime business, and kicking the gang out of business and group. learn an important lesson that you would expect next to be eye crime number 38. in the bWedding episode plot.
Gibby sees a five dollar bill in a tree and tries to go get it. He stops an old lady on the street, basically flirts with her and asks her for help in exchange for the two of them going out for coffee. In the end, he can. to receive the bill, but when she falls, he accidentally knocks the woman out and then flees the scene taking Guppy and her money with him. Gibby killed an old woman and moves on to eye crime number 39. In season 1, episode 6, Carly's future boyfriend leaves the convention after believing Carly and Freddie are an item, Sam finds him trying to get on a bus lo He ties him up with an electric cable and forces him to return to the convention hall.
You see, this is a kidnapping very different from false imprisonment and also from our ocular crime. number 40. In episode 7's b-plot, Spencer explains that when he left law school several years earlier, he promised his grandfather that if he didn't have a piece of art in a Seattle museum within three years, he would return to Surprisingly , college's Spencer doesn't have any artwork in any museum, which is potentially because he hasn't made a sculpture in a long time, so he decides to sneak into a renowned Seattle museum and put up an artwork without permission , that being the sculpture he made in the pilot because again he doesn't make sculptures anymore apparently he gets caught doing this once and gets thrown out but he sneaks in a second time and manages to make it and what you can imagine must be a home invasion when he almost does it achieves. kicked out again, he starts making out with the woman who tries to kick him out, which is an act of sexual assault.
She really likes it, but you know what I'm counting anyway, so that's eye crimes number 41 and 42. Now you'll do it. Remember earlier in this video I said I was saving iparty with Victorious for later. Well, you might be surprised to find out that said after period is not right now. We'll properly cover this episode a little later for now. What you need to know about this episode is that Gibby goes to a party undercover, someone recognizes him from Icarly and punches the person, knocking them out and dragging them to another room which is eye crime number 43 and at the end of our fourth season, the discussions what are you drinking.
I have a lot less time to do these days, don't I? I'm rocking on a bunch of pillows because I really like this shot, but I don't. This sofa will simply absorb you. It's like, well, I have to look like I'm standing, season four is a strange beast. I'd hesitate to call it truly bad, but there are cracks in the foundation that we're starting to see here that will only get worse as we move into season five and then into the season. six, by the way, it's about time we do our penultimate midseason intermission, so for those of you who are watching this video without the last one, I started this tradition in the first icarly video where, between each season, I gave step aside and talk about things that are interesting to me but don't really fit into the analysis of the main series and the purpose behind this is to create a sort of separation between the information that I'm giving you so that you understand what the information came from which season and you start to take it in like people would when they were kids and there possibly hasn't been a more appropriate time for an interlude than now because the Season 4 cliffhanger was the show's first real break in which I had to wait a significant amount of time to see what would happen next.
I imagine half of you right now are saying yeah, the cliffhanger, what happens next, and then the other half was like, whoa, whoa, what, what a cliffhanger, because the moment I mentioned Sam's Kisses and Freddie in child labor have just been erased from your mind. I would like to be fair. Sam and Freddie have kissed before, okay, but they've never opened a child farm together before, so you already know the relationship goals with the hashtag, so for this intermission I'm not doing it. To be honest, I don't have much consistent content to give you, so I thought I'd go back to some topics we haven't covered adequately before you know you'll have noticed this. uh, I got a little haircut this week and you know, I'm thinking right now if that pandemic can lighten its load a little bit.
I'm ready to go out, you know, I'm ready to see the views that people have. some adventures and you know if I'm going to be out there if I'm going to do that then I think I'm going to need icarly perfume and icarly cologne these are completely real I didn't make them up you could go out and buy them a decade ago I don't know where I don't know who would have sold them, but clearly someone did because you can easily find them on eBay, yeah, so this is it, click, this is Icarly perfume. It comes in this little bottle and, um, there's Carly on the side of the bottle and then of course here we have the icarly cologne which is a little more basic, visually the first thing I thought when I saw this was like the love story . that could happen here two people walking down the street without even looking up from their shoes pass each other and then they just stop and turn around and stare at each other in disbelief are you wearing icarly perfume? yes, are you wearing icarly perfume? cologne yeah, I mean, I can't imagine anything more romantic, this is a bad time to tell you that I have a soft nose, mine, I swear to God, it just smells like soap and hand sanitizer, that's all I'm getting.
I don't know why, but I figured when you put on Icarly cologne it somehow makes you think of the Internet, but I kind of think it would have to smell pretty bad to make you think of the Internet. Well, next up is very much the Icarly perfume. more boost on that one, much easier to spray, this makes me think of a public swim in a pool, like a swim in a public pool, not inside the swim, but directly outside the swim, so I'll recap this for you . icarly cologne smells like isopropyl alcohol icarly perfume smells like a swimming pool okay so the next thing we want to move on to real quick now that we've eliminated that complete boredom is that I wanted to circle back around for icarly happy meals from mcdonald's Hello everyone, today we are going to listen to jenny, the stomach has spoken, happy meal time, you can create your own madness with an icarly toy in your mcdonald's happy meal, there were two of these, one in 2010 and one in 2011 and a lot of toys were released inside, so what I ended up doing was buying a big plastic bag on eBay that was filled with these toys, most of them unopened, okay it's a little traffic light, I don't know why was this in an icarly happy food game and not a mr happy food game? rogers or whatever, but I mean, that's the thing, there's a traffic light in icarly's game, I don't know if there's going to be the next one, we've got this right here, I'll go ahead and open it up.
This is a visual representation of the car seat Carly has at her house and she has a weird toaster, what does this say? Oh, it says random dance, so it's like, oh, there they are sitting in her car. right, they're sitting in their car and they're looking, oh, now they're having a random dance, a lot of this stuff is based on like, um, the kind of thing that Carly has in her apartment, like this is a gummy bear and Inside there are some stickers and a pencil that I just dropped. To be honest with you, if I was a kid and I saw this, I would never think I was Carly because I know they have a ton of these dogs on their set, I just don't read me icarly like I'm just a dog, one of the things in this set is like a little servo head from gumball tom and even as an adult I don't know what this has to do with icarly, I know there's a little piece of paper here, take that out, what's up, oh my gosh, look at that, this is it which has to do with icarly, it's a bunch of stickers on a roll and when you stick out Tom Servo's tongue, you can remove some of these stickers, you see that.
This is, of course, what I think you had to go and get to make this McDonald's toy and that's Baby Spencer, I mean Baby Spencer, this is actually the only Spencer toy they made, I think, and the great thing, the There's a little hole at the top and I think the idea is that you can put your own face on the Baby Spencer toy and make your own baby version of yourself. McDonald's was really a gamble though because I mean, sometimes you just get like that. kind of what is this, what is this, so turn it on, I don't know, this probably did something a decade ago, like some final stuff, we have a little mouse pad and a magic meatball toy, uh, I think this used to do things, but I imagine it. it doesn't work i bought a few of these and none of them worked yeah, yeah, this doesn't work and uh, yeah, uh, that's it, I know I might seem really bummed out, you know, and that's because I am, because it's really weird to work. on a project like this for so long and then realizing that you're so close to finishing it, you know, I mean, because after this this is the last intermission, so after this it's a season and then a finale. intermission and then a season and then we're done and I guess I'm a little bummed because I mean this is this and I can't think of any other Icarly eccentricities to tell you about so I bought freddy's camera guys you want to talk about it for wait a second, this is the canon xl1.
I'm not sure what year it came out, but the most important thing about this camera model is that throughout the original icarly series this was the accessory that Freddie used when he was filming his webcast. Now immediately there will be two things thatYou will recognize that they are missing in this particular accessory. The first is the microphone. There's a little microphone stand here and on Freddy's camera. and most xl's usually have a microphone that plugs into the camera right here. I thought about buying one, it wouldn't have been difficult, but the thing is that it is totally an aesthetic question.
Actually, I'm not going to use a microphone. with this camera so I thought it probably wasn't worth the money and now the second thing that's missing is what I call the light bar on the back of Freddy's camera, here's a little cylindrical light and inside icarly . universe which is supposed to basically represent Freddy's bluetooth technology that he uses, that's what makes the camera wireless and allows me to set up cross duplex transmission between my laptop and my camera. Wow, a witchy guy talking about technology, you'll take note as a comparison. when freddy is using the camera at the beginning of the pilot that light is missing and that is because he has it connected correctly and therefore he does not need a wireless connection, but for the rest of the series he uses this handheld computer and therefore he has You know that technology on board, so it may be something he walks around the room with.
I have so many things I want to tell you about this camera. I have so many things to say about it, but there is one specific thing. One specific thing I feel is perfect for moving forward and breaking the ice. Well, here it is. Have you ever noticed that Freddy's camera has a little silver box in here? Have you ever wondered what that is? It's a Freddy recorder. The camera works with cassettes now, don't you feel like your whole life has been a lie even though Icarly subconsciously tries to make you believe that this is an extremely advanced piece of HD technology?
This camera is the kind of thing you would find. in the media room of an underfunded high school, to be honest this is basically a step above a VHS camera and I'm very kind when I say I'm actually amused by the idea of them bringing this in it's like when they were doing the show and someone was like "you can't let that be the camera they're using to film their web show in high definition" and then someone else is like "chill chill chill dude, let's go I'm going to stick a glow stick on the back and all the kids at home will think this is something from the future.
I bought this on eBay and I understand it and I think they didn't clean it before sending it to me because I pick it up and it's like it's so sticky and dirty so you know. , I take a bunch of cleaning materials and I clean it and there's so much dirt coming out of this you wouldn't believe, I mean, my paper towels are turning black so I clean it and clean it and clean it and go, it's good to be done. with that. I pick it up it's still sticky, it's sticky right now, I realized this thing isn't dirty, it's disintegrating like I don't know what. material this is I am very bad at identifying materials but it looks like some kind of strange rubber and it just hasn't lasted at all for very long so when I touch this thing it falls out of my hands this camera is becoming one with my DNA, it's just that Sometimes it's hard to tear my hand off because the materials are deteriorating and turning into goo.
I swear to God, my fingerprints are now embedded all over this camera because the material holding it together has become a semi-fluid material, you know what I mean, but the strangest thing about playing with this camera for so long and trying Understanding it so intensely is that I have realized that this is actually something realistic for a 13 year old. It was old to have in 2007 and it's no good, but I totally think someone like Freddy would end up buying this for Christmas and would like to take advantage of it until it stopped working and it's a little strange that we never got to see what icarly would look like as a webcast if It was actually filmed with the camera that we see on the set of each episode, are you guys there? thinking what I'm thinking ah my hand is black hello everyone and welcome to the icarly webcast this is this this is uh this is the camera that Freddy uses on the show uh this is what it looks like when he's actually filming something You know, yeah, but doesn't it feel kind of realistic for something you'd see on YouTube in 2008, like this specific aspect that isn't cutting edge, but someone is trying their best?
You know what I mean and I have to ask you one more time. I mean, think about it, ladies and gentlemen, I mean other people might do their Icarly content well, but who else in the world would think of recording their Icarly video with the real Icarly camera? The answer is this guy, he had the same idea. What you will notice here is that there is a little thing flashing in the middle of the screen that says there is no tape in the camera. There is a tape in the camera. This is not a VHS camera, obviously it is not. a vhs camera, but you know, when I was younger I tried to collect vhs cameras because I really like this aesthetic.
I think it's a cool aesthetic, so I tried to collect these vhs. I tried clicking vhs cameras. you know what I mean? What I discovered is that VHS cameras were not designed to last into the 21st century for the most part, so every time I bought a VHS camera, it broke in some way that made it annoying to use, it broke completely or it broke down. It works anywhere from three hours to a day and the problem with this camera is that it is now unable to tell if there is a tape in the machine or not and obviously if it can't tell if there is a tape in the machine then it can.
Not recording this whole setup very well makes me really nostalgic because I used to film with VHS cameras when I was a kid and the funny thing is that this apartment looks nothing like my childhood house, but even just seeing the walls through a format VHS type makes me feel very nostalgic. I'm very nostalgic for the place where I grew up because that's how I remember it. I remember it through this kind of weird grainy filter and I like to think that this is a very nice quiet moment that we created for ourselves in the video, but I want to say that the reason I want to do this little moment in the video is that I remember that season 5 of icarlex was the exact point in the series where I didn't think it was fun to watch anymore and I have a feeling that I'm going to feel exactly the same this time, from what I remember, the next ones episodes are really bad and they're also the episodes we've been waiting for, so I don't think this is going to be fun for me to go through it, but unfortunately, as we always have to say in segments like these, the only way to find out is Go ahead and start Now that we've taken a turn back, can we stop? for a moment and recognize exactly how big a season 4 cliffhanger was consistently throughout the series.
The idea that Sam hates Freddy and wants to see him suffer has been teased as a possibility that Sam's cruelty directed towards Freddy is not indicative of a true hatred towards him, but rather an inability of her to find a way to show affection. or he likes her and doesn't know how to say it is something that has intentionally never been made clear in the early seasons the fact that she constantly tries to derail his romantic relationships and gets in a bad mood every time she sees him with another girl is again something that could mean a variety of things and is left ambiguous enough to try to get the teens at home excited about the possibilities and the revelation in season 4 that Sam does indeed secretly love Freddie and desires a relationship with him.
It retroactively confirms the hidden subtext of his motivations throughout the show thus far, and also sets up a story that will take up almost half of the canonical episodes of season 5. Season 4, episode 9 is easily one of the most cute and wholesome of the entire series, and if that's the case, then episode 1 of season 5 is the mean punchline to that setup in the episode we discover after the two kiss Sam. She immediately checks herself into a mental institution because she thinks admitting she's in love with Freddie means she's gone crazy from how these kids have grown so much in the last few days, so Carly Freddy and Gibby go to this asylum and try to break him. to Sam.
They leave but the woman working the front desk scolds them, also Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory is there for some reason kick my thighs kick him hard the gang gets Gibby to distract the woman as they go and find that Sam Gibby's distraction involves violently assaulting her so she keeps her eyes off Freddy and Carly after the police assume the woman is lying. Gibby befriends Sheldon, who tells her that he is from the future and needs to get something back that Gibby believes because he is not smart. Carly finally finds Sam and Freddie. She convinces her to return home, however, because Sam is under 18, she cannot leave the asylum without a guardian signing her out.
Jane Lynch is too expensive to hire more than once, so they decide to have someone else pose as Sam's mother. No, I'm not getting dressed. up like sam's mom we weren't going to ask you i want to do it sam enters dressed as miss puckett but is recognized by an old friend in the asylum and they catch them all the icarly webcast is scheduled to start soon and at the insistence of the inmates they do the web show live from the psychiatric institute which of course is interrupted by the people inside warns in the year 2029 the aliens capture ryan seacrest i bet you money that really happens live on the web show carly does something that makes everyone uncomfortable announces to the audience that sam likes freddy and that he wants to hear people's reactions live, freddy is sexy, yeah let's not get carried away, however, when sam says he doesn't care what icarly viewers have What to say, Freddy says they have one last call. to listen, at which point he pulls out a pair of earbuds and calls the show himself declaring that no one has asked him how he feels about this.
Sam starts yelling at Freddy for wanting to humiliate her through rejection live on the Internet only for him to interrupt her with a kiss reciprocating the cliffhanger and officially starting their relationship and now that we've gotten to this point, I think there's one thing to worry about. We all want to talk: what about couple phones? Did you ever think it was a big thing in the early 2010s, like smartphones were a new thing and all the TV writers were thinking what would be the next thing: they would change the shape to a circle or a triangle, but did you?
Have you ever thought about the logistical nightmare that would mean? Think about the video when you see the presentation on your peer's product. Do you think the video just opens in the center with a bunch of black spaces around it or do you think it goes full screen and cuts off the outside layout? video cortex in the icarly universe there are probably debates about this like are you a black border guy or do you cut off the edge of the screen because both options sound horrible. Do you think there are video formats in the icarly universe that are specifically? designed to be pear shaped just so you can view them on pear shaped devices, I mean we can clearly see here that when Freddy uses a pear product to film something, it's not exported in a pear shape, it's exported in a normal 16x9, but like, wouldn't you like that if you had a couple of phones?
Wouldn't you like to be able to open an image on his phone and be sure you're being shown the full image he took? How would I use a camera on a pear shaped device again is the interface reduced to be within par or are you taking photos without even knowing what the sides of your images look like and even if you design file formats that are explicitly shaped pear a pair is not a rotationally symmetrical image so if you turn your phone the other way it will look like this I don't know I guess I'm just trying to say uh so let's move on to season one episode two I'm dating Sam and Freddy, the episode begins with Sam and Freddie fighting because of course they do.
I remember this was a big problem I had with the story arc in 2011. I get that Sam and Freddy are going to be dysfunctional, but couldn't they have made two episodes where they're a cute couple, show them going on a Ferris wheel or whatever comedy clichés you want to pull out, but no, we get right to the obvious issues at hand when we find out that Freddy got a B on a role and, in retaliation, Sam filled up that teacher's car. with the bees, something Freddy doesn't like because he doesn't want Sam to fight battles on his behalf.
We quickly learn that a big issue at play is that Sam still doesn't respect his point of view, a stance he held when he hated him and that he still maintains. However, when it comes to their romance, Carly sets the record straight by telling them that they are both a little right and a little wrong and soon the fight ends, as it turns out that Carly is a very good moderator in couple fights thanks to Sam. and freddie is so constantly absent and together, carly and gibby have spent a lot more time together despite having nothing in common, so gibby adopts a dog that they can run around with together to have something to talk about. To talk, however, Carly doesn't want a dog and has to constantly say this to Gibby while he still believes that they are essentially raising a baby together.
This story is what I like to call a ship gag, like the show sometimes does this, where it will do a ship episode for a ship. Nobody asked for that, like Spencer and Freddie's mom, for example, but I have a strange feeling that the only reason Gibby always gets paired with people as a joke is because he's a little chubby, because I feel like if this actor lost 40 pounds, It would give him real romantic story arcs Meanwhile, in the sea plot, Spencer makes a lawn in the living room and mows the grass and shucks the corn and makes corn juice.
The show runs out of ideas every time Gibby appears on screen and says his name. Now, which is like the writers are trying to make us think that any situation the character gets into is funny by default. I think the problem at hand is that Noah looks like an adult now, so the writers no longer find his nudity entertaining, so they just want us to default to believing that Gibby himself just gives off a funny aura when that's really not true because Carly is very good at defusing their arguments. Freddy and Sam begin to constantly return to her to try to get a satisfactory consultation.
In a moment they wake her up. they get up at 3 in the morning because they got into a fight over which one of them has a worse mother before she goes back to bed, eventually they start taking her with them on dates asking her to sit on an island next door and put aside any disagreements that they have. They end up having Carly become more and more stressed until she finally has a breakdown in the middle of a crowded restaurant, then she gives her final judgment, if they can't figure these things out on their own, then they shouldn't be dating at all and that's it. is how we ended episode 2.
In episode 3, the couple mainly resolved things by keeping their fights to a minimum and generally being very happy with each other, however, two main problems arise on both sides: first First, Freddie is so obsessed with Sam that it started unconsciously. taking Carly out of the frame when she was filming sketches and the second Sam has begun acting physically abusive towards Gibby with the accepted explanation that she still wants to get her repressed anger out of her even if she can't direct it at Freddy in this age. He is saddened to discover that she has not gotten into a summer camp she applied to despite being the perfect candidate in every way.
The main conflict of this episode is that Freddy has yet to tell his mother that Sam fears that she is ultra controlling. and ultra-protective would make her go crazy at the idea of the two of them being together at a time when Freddy's mother is trying to stop by. Freddie asks Spencer to lie and say she is somewhere else, however, Spencer finds herself in a dilemma because she doesn't like telling lies and they have done this before there was a season one episode explicitly about how Spencer doesn't like her. likes to lie They are reusing subplots.
Now the fast side thought the biggest downside to Sam's mother being played by a celebrity guest. The cameo is that there are a lot of episodes this season where it seems like her appearance would add a lot to the story, like the idea of having an episode where her two mothers team up to try to stop them from dating. . I don't know, that seems like the kind of fun thing they would have come up with in the first season. Gibby decides that she has had enough of the couple and ends up telling Freddie's mother about the relationship, leading her to plan to break them up at one point.
At Gibby's suggestion, Freddy's mother tries to bribe him with a piece of metal worth almost a hundred thousand dollars and tells him that he can keep it if he breaks up with Sam, so I repeat that Freddy's mother tried to bribe him with a hundred thousand dollars to breaking up with sam for the third time freddy's mom bought something worth a hundred thousand dollars sam and freddie end up not showing up the night of icarly's broadcast and then carly and gibby have to do it alone i'm carly the couple finally shows up hours later and They say Freddy's mom stalked them to their date and long story short, they lost their phones and ended up on a random boat all night.
Carly is furious that the two have once again ruined another episode of their web show. Sam and Freddie note that Carly might be jealous, in fact, they argue that she might have been the one to tell Freddie's mom that they were dating, at which point the one where Carly lets slip that it was Gibby who leaked the information, causing Sam to physically attack him. serious injury and hitting Spencer in the balls while Gibby returns from the hospital and Spencer recovers with an ice pack. Freddy's mother convinces Carly that Freddie and Sam being together has made everyone's lives worse and therefore the only moral thing to do is for the four of them. of them plan behind her back to separate the couple and so Carly shares the information that will cause Freddy not to have entered the summer camp to which she applied because Sam sabotaged her application by changing all the answers she made months before.
They started dating, which means it's something she wants to keep away from him now that they're an object, meanwhile, Gibby tries to eat her own hair. I don't like this character anymore. Freddy's mother shares the horrible information with him and he goes overboard. As chaotically as you'd expect, why did you do this to me? I was mad at you or what do you remember, I asked you what time it was and you said I don't know. Freddie is extremely angry and it really seems like they both are. he's going to break up before carly runs up the stairs and decides to intervene telling freddie that she can't break up with sam so gibby decides she's switched sides and drags mrs benson out of the room while carly forces the two to stay. together saying that sam is like a wild pet, there is chaos that comes with her, but that doesn't mean she doesn't love you as the two hug gibby starts singing an original love song, implying that somehow this was her plan all along and here we go, love is blooming and in the air until the next episode, season 5, episode 4 begins with the most bombastic retcon in the history of the show.
Freddy really likes trains and, in fact, he is in a model train club. I know, I know I didn't believe it either. It doesn't surprise Carly, but what does is the revelation that Sam and Freddie haven't done anything together in a few days, they have different interests, different groups of friends, and different hobbies, so even though they date, they aren't totally dependent on each other. from each other, Carly insists. that this simply won't work and that they should try to join each other's interests and agree to try it. Freddy invites Sam to his model train club and Sam pretends to be interested and says yes.
Moments later, Spencer walks in and suddenly recognizes a girl. in the hallway it turns out that this woman who now works for the director was once his childhood nanny and the two eventually decide to stay in touch. This single moment sets off a domino effect that will ultimately ruin Spencer's show and the woman will end up ahead. several dates and it ends up going extremely well, however, it is an extremely dysfunctional relationship as the two basically copy and paste the same rules they had when they were younger, but they rearranged everything to be romantic in nature, making everything feel like a role play.
Being tricked by a middle-aged couple at a bar, Jenna wouldn't let me have dessert because someone refused to eat her vegetables. She didn't want the two to go on a date while Gibby and Spencer were there, but she ends up saying what the movie is. too scary and sends Spencer and Carly to their rooms, at which point Gibby invites her to dim the lights, sit down and continue the movie and when she does, Gibby says her name out loud very flirtatiously, I'll remind you that this woman He works at Gibby's school. and she's five years older than spencer and gibby is a minor so this is a moment where gibby is sexually abused, meanwhile freddy takes sam to his train club meeting and damn this is great Sorry, I don't really like trains, but this is objectively cool space Which of these kids has the coolest mom in the world?
This is incredible. The children are happy to see the small moments of happiness as each train leaves one at a time, but while they are out of the room, Sam places both. the trains shoot up at once, causing them to collide in the middle of the track, destroying hundreds of dollars worth of train collectibles, not that I know of, it's not like I bought trains or anything, there is a train in my milk, drink it so they find out that Sam is not compatible with Freddy's hobbies, but they are still not sure otherwise, so Sam invites Freddy to participate in his weekend interests, visiting his uncle and his cousin in prison and try to smuggle contraband to give it to him.
I brought you the stuff where, whoa, whoa, okay, oh, prisoners in my pants, they get caught and Sam's family gets thrown into the hole and then Sam spends a lot of time yelling at Freddy for not being good enough to pull hams. glazed with honey from their pants, they trust him. at Carly, who says that maybe they shouldn't get involved in each other's hobbies, but that doesn't mean their relationship is over. She points out that her relationship advice isn't always sound because she doesn't have a boyfriend and then she says. She goes downstairs and sees Spencer being read a bedtime book by his girlfriend while he rests in his pajamas.
Carly has finally had enough and yells at the two telling them that their relationship is not healthy or meant to last, they are not having a normal relationship. They're clumsily inserting romance into a pre-existing dynamic that had nothing to do with romance and they need to stop pretending they can be a couple when they both know it's weird and wrong and while Carly gives a speech that breaks Spencer. and her babysitter freddie and sam peek on the stairs and get the impression that carly's outburst could apply to them too and as they take the elevator down for the night, sam stops mid-ride, something freddy seems to have Anticipated completely, they have a long and serious conversation in which they admit that they are not really compatible as they would have wanted to be, at least not yet, and when they break up amicably, Freddy tells Sam that he loves her and Sam responds with almost the same and you already know. that when they finally get out of the elevator for the night and Freddy sees that girl walking away, he thinks to himself why didn't I take the hundred thousand dollars when I was a kid.
I remember this story was the last time I went out of my way to constantly watch icarly and perhaps counterintuitively, it's the story arc that ruined the show because the biggest problem with this story is that it's practically identical to Te I saved my life, the credit event story with the characters start dating, it's far from immediately perfect and they decide. They need to take a break to see if they are a better fit for each other in the future and then it is rarely talked about again. Do you see how something like that could ruin the reasons people liked the show?
It was especially about, at least in part, the will that they won't, that they will appeal that was generated from the dynamics of these characters and these two story arcs turn that into they did it, they could again, and they could do it , but they don't feel like doing it this week and it's like Personally sitting here, you know, talking about this at this point in the saga, I'm feeling a little down and I'm sure you guys are feeling it at home secondhand because the arc Seti's story was very developed and then really disappointing. reward in some of the weakest episodes in the show's history and this is what it's always been about.
Icarly doesn't do web show stories anymore, she doesn't do romance stories anymore, and Spencer doesn't even build sculptures anymore, so why are we still here? What is this all about? How is this even still icarly? Because this might as well be good luck, Charlie, for all I care, we have 19 episodes left. What could those 19 episodes be about? What are you going to work on? the apple store they're going to open a restaurant they're going to jimmy fallon i think the people working on this show didn't understand the appeal of the show and they didn't really understand why people liked the ceti ship i know i know By now it's become pretty obvious that I was a seti shipper, I was from the beginning and to be honest with you I never met a credit shipper, I don't think I was that popular and if you were a Credit Shipper I'm going To assume that you were so used to the male lead and the female lead always ending up together that it was just outside your comfort zone for that to not happen, let me guess when you read Harry Potter.
You were upset that Harry and Hermione didn't get together, yeah yeah, it's pretty clear what was going on there, but as a seti shipper I think the biggest appeal of this couple for most of the kids at home is that we really liked Freddy and We really liked Sam, but they weren'tgood people, especially Sam, but still Freddie to a certain extent and I think the reason the kids at home wanted Sam and Freddie to end up together is the only way that could happen is if we both realistically grew up a lot As people, we wanted Sam to overcome his deep-rooted problems and violent hang-ups and we wanted Freddy to develop a damn backbone and learn some street smarts, but I guess that's not what the racers wanted, they just wanted a new couch. gag every week, I think they wanted Sam specifically to never evolve, for her to be a fundamentally broken person was fun to them, and therefore they wanted her to stay that way forever.
I have this thing, I say a lot that sitcom characters aren't allowed to be happy because most sitcoms are about dysfunction and that's why people say sitcoms are ruined when there's a wedding or a baby because the Happiness in and of itself isn't very fun for a lot of comedy writers and that's why you always hear these creators say oh we can't bring back to the office or we won't be able to bring friends back because the only way to make these shows work is that everyone is miserable and these characters deserve to be happy and after this story I think a lot of people just closed icarly because We all realized that the only way these characters would be allowed to be happy is if the comedy ended and they were allowed them to cease to exist with a smile on their faces.
Season 5, episode 5 is a Tebow-centric episode, so in the story. We learn that Tebow has been living on the second floor of the Groovy Smoothie basically since it opened and when a health inspector sees this, he says it's against city ordinances, so Tebow is essentially left homeless. overnight, much to the dismay of Carly, who insists they try. and find a way to fix this Meanwhile in the bee plot Freddy's mother loses 20 thousand dollars buying two rare chickens in the hopes of selling their eggs for a thousand dollars each, however the birds do not sleep with each other and therefore they do not lay eggs. that he ran out of investment, well, you know, if he sells that solid hunk of metal from a few episodes ago, he'll have 80 grand left over.
Meanwhile, in plot c, Spencer buys a safe at the local junkyard and is trying to find numerous ways to open it, tired of being distracted by the main three, suggests that Freddie have his mother rent his spare room to Tebow, which means she can get the money back and Tebow has a place to live. However, Freddie and Sam think that their mother doesn't like Tebow for uh reasons and they decide that they need to change him, they need to clean him up. Freddy's mother doesn't like black people. Meanwhile, in plot d, Sam finds a really big fork and decides he needs to use it as much as possible, obsessively eating with it as often as he can just to enjoy the art of oversized cutlery, meanwhile, in The plot f, Carly meets a cute boy at the wonderful milkshake, but is horrified to discover that he is snobbishly intelligent, enjoys foreign films, and is well versed. in the modern world, she starts studying to date him and even asked Spencer to break her nose as a distraction when the date turns sour, so on the night of Carly's most important date, Freddy Sam and Gibby dressed Tebow in a fancy suit and asked him. to speak softly and gently to win over Freddie's mother, also Gibby made the suit himself because apparently he's a tailor.
Now Carly hides electronic devices all over the room so she can use them to search for whatever her boyfriend is talking about to distract herself from the evening, like she rarely has. If she has any idea what's going on, he catches her in the act looking at her cheat notes and she declares that she's been dishonest, something much worse than being stupid. Sam is so determined to make Carly feel better that she gives him her giant fork before revealing that she's found an even bigger fork. Tebow's meeting with Mrs. Benson goes very well, as he is able to compulsively lie to get a spot in the apartment by hiring Elise for an entire year, although he will still have to keep up with her ruse.
Spencer opens the safe. and inside there is another episode for sure season 5 episode 6 is the second episode of blooper there are 9 words are you happy? season 5 episode 7 is perhaps one of the most anticipated episodes we have had since season 3 being the end of the same episode in which I finished my last video I am talking about i still psycho the second part of the psycho trilogy at the beginning of the story The cast learned that Nora Dershlitz, the villain from the original story, is being considered for parole and that as victims of her crime they are invited to come and give testimony about whether they think she should be kept in prison or released.
Sam slaps Freddie in the balls and goes to steal his pudding while Spencer is soaking her feet in milk. I have the strangest instinct to skip this one. a resistance to go testify at Nora's hearing saying that she, as someone who has been in jail, she is hesitant to force another person to stay there at this exact moment. Tebow Burgess enters the room half-dressed and exclaims that he has grown tired of the rules. He has had to keep up to continue living with Freddie's mother, although Freddie insists that lying is a necessity for him to continue living there.
Oh, I'm not offended. I feel very warm inside knowing that your mother would be upset if she knew the real me, that's nice. let's assume tebow has no feelings and then gibby comes in with the official plot d of the episode. she just went to the mall and had her head scanned for over two hours to create a complete composite copy of his and Chico's own head, I've never seen a joke backfire so badly. I think this is perhaps Gibby's most infamous joke as they follow it for the rest of the series and keep it as his new Flanderization quirk and I've never met anyone who enjoyed this part.
I know who she is because when I think of Gibby I think of the funniest decapitated head I've ever seen, Carly insists that everyone go to the hearing and once there she doesn't even give a depressing speech about how she deserves to rot in jail and that at least she's there. more friends than her life before carly tries to give testimony about how nora shouldn't be let go, but ends up feeling so bad that she turns around saying that enough time has passed for her to be released, gibby tries to make a bunch of jokes over his head, but no one laughs while they are away, Spencer begins to go on a long series of dates with a beautiful woman who likes nerdy topics and kisses, however, their dates are constantly derailed when Tebow barges in. room and complains about Mrs.
Benson Tebow. she even starts flirting with Spencer's date in front of him and Spencer just locks the door. What kind of apartment in a huge skyscraper only has a chain lock? Spencer ends up buying a zombie video game, but her TV is broken, so when Freddie's mom goes on a trip, they end up playing it at her house with Tebow, however, she comes home early and Tebow's cover is blown while he gives a triumphant speech about how tebow is and no one can stop him from being that way. Mrs. Benson throws him out, he is once again. quick note to homeless people, if this ever happens to you, hold your ground, tebow in this case is a pre-signed lease with mrs benson which means she can only evict you with a 30 day notice and can't just throw him out on the street because they had a small disagreement one day nora gets out of prison and almost entirely because of carly's testimony and she is placed in the custody of her parents who holy that guy has small hands it turns out that nora's parents like him They're having a coming house party, they've invited all their schoolmates, none of whom plan on coming and instead she ends up inviting icarly's gang and there's no way they fall for this twice and when Spencer comes to pick them up to the house, he is also entangled and the plan is put into motion when everyone is locked inside when we find out that Nor's mother is in on the plan to get revenge.
Nora's mother has tied Spencer to a giant wheel and whether the gang tried to escape or retaliate. She will be hanging around the place, probably killing him or something. Nora says that the gang could have gotten her out of prison but that they also stained the memory of her 16th birthday party. We are going to undo the stain and that is why they plan to recreate said party, but this time. it really will last forever, they dance to the music and freddie is sexually assaulted, which is funny because he's a boy, eventually they're all alone in the room and, thinking quickly, they disguise Gibby's head as if he's asleep and he.
He escapes the only way he can think of, through the chimney, however, he gets trapped at the top and cannot get out and is left there overnight, and his mother quickly realizes the deception and begins to look for gibby while spencer spends eternity at nora's house. Dad comes home and we find out that he is also in on the plan. Ultimately, the gang is saved not by Gibby but by an obsessive chain of continuity. Deep cuts in season 2, we learn that Freddie's mother has had a chip implanted in her head that allows her to track where he is at all times in season 5, we learn that Freddie has since found out about this when he complains to Sam and Carly.
In season 4, Spencer becomes addicted to pranking people and one of the ways he pranks Carly is with a pen. that electrocutes her when pressed Freddy theorizes that deactivating the tracking chip in her head will immediately tell her mother her location and Sam previously stole Spencer's awesome pen because she thinks it's cool, so they press it against her head. of Freddie, causing the chip to short circuit and rendering him unconscious. He goes out and alerts his mother to his true location. Tebow volunteers to take Mrs. Benson on his motorcycle and they go through Nora's front door. Sam throws Nora over the table.
Tebow knocks down the basement door and Carly unplugs the wheel, freeing him. Spencer Tebow takes out the father and when the girls take out irons, Mrs. Benson takes swords down from the wall and of course, because she was a fencing champion as a child, Mrs. Benson easily kicks both girls' butts, even when she They catch them at the same time, Sam begins to knock down the cracks in the door with the pen and Noor warns that if he tries he will get revenge, but Sam goes ahead and does it anyway. Mrs. Benson is ecstatic to have saved her son and allows having Tebow move into his apartment once again, everything is fine, the characters are safe, except they forgot.
Gibby I'm Still Here, I'm Still Psycho is a great example of what I was talking about before, where the show has very slowly moved away from being a show about internet culture and is now focusing primarily on icarly's self-esteem. The value of the show is now at stake in the fact that the show has value and it's worth noting that there's probably a very good reason why this ultimately happened because this episode aired on December 31, 2011, the day before 2012. 2012 is famous for being a very, very exciting time for Internet content, mainly because a lot of people were 14 years old that year, but it's also a very, very different era of the Internet from the Internet in 2007 and, in particular, for better or worse, it's a commentary on the internet since it existed in that year, so I really feel like the writers were unable to even try to adapt to the changing tone of the internet, so it made a lot more sense to move away of the topic and move on.
Now let's talk about episode 8, the last story of season 5, which I wouldn't call an event episode, in fact, I would call it filler eyes is the first of two episodes this season that are carly light basically during the time when Miranda Cosgrove was pursuing a music career and because she was busy. tour the show needed an excuse to barely appear in certain select episodes of the episode, Carly suddenly has to go to Yakima to take care of her grandfather, leaving icarly's webcast to end without Freddie feeling like he still has to prove himself. A creative team member insists that he be allowed to co-host with Sam, commenting that a garbage bag full of yogurt might make a better comedy partner than him. freddy does a skit that is considered extremely unfunny, cringes and storms off, causing sam to actually introduce the yogurt bag as a supporting character as a side note.
Two of the people who have come to see her live performance are Ms. Benson's therapist and her daughter, who has a very rare and serious vision problem that requires her to wear oversized glasses. all the time. most of the time trying to help him get over his sadness, Sam says that being the technical side of the webcast still invites creativity, leading him to comment thathas been trying to figure out how to make icarly 3d without 3d glasses and somehow he does it by making a special icarly. stream that is somehow 3d despite being a single image, meanwhile spencer wants to hire a lackey to do all his work even though he doesn't even have a job, he finds that partner in a man he meets in a men's room and the two have crazy adventures freddy discovers that his 3d effect seriously damages the depth perception of anyone who watches the web show causing the cast of icarly to run away from their problems because that is basically the thesis of the show the effects are merely temporary but freddy She is still depressed that her experiment has only brought pain to the world, this is until the therapist and her daughter return to her announcing that the iCarly 3D webcast cured her serious eye condition.
Spencer finds out that she has a negative 11 on her bank account and that she is going completely broke. keep this new friend employed, however, the assistant says that he can't keep ruining Spencer's financial life and respectfully stops pointing out that Spencer has been the best boss he's ever had. There's an extremely homoerotic montage of them doing things together and that's where the story is. ends if this episode had been in season 1 I wouldn't have mentioned it but we're so starved for content at this point that I'm describing every single thing that happens on this show out of desperation and with that we move on to perhaps one of the strangest episodes ever. infamous in the story of icarly season 5 episode 9.
I meet the first lady at the beginning of the story. Carly and the gang are planning a big birthday party for her invisible father who is supposed to be visiting Seattle. because her birthday is the first time she's seen him in a long time, while Spencer accidentally explodes the cake, forcing Carly to go out to get a second one, however, when she gets home, Spencer learns some bad news, something It has happened in another country. and his father won't be coming home from the air force after all, he was in the navy before, why did they make him the air force?
Now what's going on anyway? Carly goes and cries in her room, barely able to muster the energy to come. She gets up and does the Icarly webcast, however, there they give her some surprisingly good news. They are going to Skype Carly's father live on Icarly. However, the signal is weak and although his father can see his side, they can't see him through the static because the Internet is analog in this universe, he types responses to everything in the video chat and so Therefore, the gang can celebrate his birth without having to choose him. Carly is ecstatic and can't ruin her mood until things stop, the gang. all visited by members of the secret service, one of whom is that guy from snl before he was famous who says someone in the US government saw her broadcast to a secure military base and is interested in meeting them.
Sam tries to buy them all the costumes. so they can escape the country before they are caught in the act and returned to Shea's apartment to meet someone more important than the president himself, the president's wife, who now sits with Spencer eating spaghetti tacos while he counts their many b- Plots Sam Carly and Freddie react in shock when Michelle Obama is in their living room and Tebow walks in shortly after having no idea who she is. He immediately tries to flirt with her. Oh, he got married. A couple of things I discovered while researching. This is the first. of all, some of these people are actually actually from the secret service, as ashley second tebow was not originally written to appear in this episode on a live broadcast with salty dk dan last year boogie talked about how he actually confronted the creator of the show for being excluded from the story michelle obama was on the show that's right before anything, you know I'm black so seeing the first black man, the president, is amazing not only for me but also for my mom, my grandmother, so being in Hollywood I have the opportunity to act alongside her. the first black first lady oh my god I said that would never happen again yeah that was probably cool and actually in that episode I wasn't in that episode Salty wasn't supposed to do it I didn't work I was No I'm booked to work next week and I remember coming in and thinking, bro, the first black president, his wife is going to be here and you don't have the only black man on the show in that episode, that's true, oh. hey, I go, man, he says, you want to be in that, I go, man, do you think I should be in this?, he says, yeah, you're right, you're right, so we laugh about it, you know, Tebow He goes but returns minutes later. realizing what she just did and trying to apologize, Mrs.
Obama gives an impassioned speech about how inspiring it is that Carly loves her father and keeps moving even though he is away, Sam interrupts her to ask if she can eat a sandwich because that sure sounds like something. She would say that Obama also praises her friends for supporting her and says that being part of a military family can be very difficult, so you will see that the children did nothing wrong. Michelle Obama just wants to congratulate you for actively pushing propaganda for the US government. Her children are also big fans of icarly and when she finds out that they are about to broadcast an episode live, she insists on participating, this is apparently a true story.
Michelle Obama only appeared in one scene, but she specifically requested to be able to do the random dance sequence because she often watched icarly with her daughters and knew it was her favorite part and that's where we ended the episode with the gang rocking out to the first lady. Episode 10 is mostly about the gang committing a crime, so let's go. to go ahead and save it for last, which means it's time for everyone's favorite segment, the analysis of the i crimes, okay, let's go ahead and go back to the beginning in season 5, episode 1, sam has been admitted to an asylum and the gang needs to distract the woman at the reception and find her thinking fast.
Gibby jumps behind the counter and apparently knocks the woman to the ground. She calls the police, but Gibby claims that she just fell behind the desk and the police immediately dismiss the woman's claims because all pigs. They are racist so I call gibby attacking this woman eye crime number 44 and carly and freddiebreak-in i crime number 45. eye crime number 46 is sam filling a teacher's car with bees eye crime number 47 is sam physically assaulting gibby in numerous occasions because he can no longer do it to freddie eye crime number 48 is sam seriously injuring gibby that she dislocates his sternum and tears out a lock of his hair.
Eye crime number 49 is Sam hitting golf balls with the girls' soccer team and hitting one of them in the head. Eye crime number 50 is Sam trying to sneak honey-glazed hams into the prison. Freddy's 51st eye-in-the-pants crime is when Sam steals a prison guard's Taser when he attends Nora Durslet's hearing. Many of these crimes revolve around Sam. It's an interesting coincidence and with that we now move on to the end of season 5 and yet another episode that was mainly written to be a light story at the beginning of the episode, we learned that Sam has taken a big step forward as a person and hasn't gotten into no type of problem in more than 10 days, something he has not been able to do.
He has been doing it since he was 4 years old and as a reward he has given him tickets for an exclusive tour of his favorite place in the world, the Canadian fat cake factory that produces fat cakes so good that they are banned in America and that is why the gang crossed the border for the day, but Carly stays behind because she has a date with a cute boy and wants to prepare for her half of the story. Carly takes a long hot bath and after watching old television she wonders if she can get her toe stuck in the faucet. in fact, she can and does scream for help until Mrs.
Benson finds her, her date finally finds her too, and they have her date while she's still in the bathroom wearing nothing but a t-shirt. This section contains no crimes, but it makes my brain bleed again. In the plot, the rest of the gang takes a tour of the foreign candy factory when they are given the opportunity to taste the coconut-covered perfection. Gibby offers to be first in line and is mugged and knocked out for Sam's 52nd crime I. Sam really likes fat pies and starts crying, they try to cross the border but Spencer insists that the border patrol first check their bags and while they're here, Spencer continues with one of the worst jokes on the show right now. you're in love with me, what nothing and that joke number about statutory rape, wait, wrong video, however, while trying to cross the border, a dog smells something like sam and the truth is revealed, she has covered her body with hundreds of pies of illegal Canadian fat and is therefore trying to smuggle it across the US border.
This is eye crime number 53. However, it is something so small that she is released immediately, but she can only cross the border if she proves that she is a US citizen. She has no passport or identification, which means she is incapable. to do this and then gibby thinks of a brilliant plan to smuggle Sam across the border in a suitcase, crime number 54. However, Sam gets mixed up with another bag and ends up in Malaysia, what a fun way to end it. the season. Hello ladies and gentlemen. and welcome to the final interlude of the icarly binge, we just finished season 5, which means that immediately after this is the hard season, i.e. season 6, sorry, but the point is that after this we have a one more season and then we're completely done with the original run of icarly and so I want to use this final interlude to do something I've been wanting to do for a while and that's discuss what I call the Nickelodeon sitcom universe, now that nsu is exactly what you would brag about. being is a theory that, based on numerous crossovers and cameos, several Nickelodeon sitcoms from 2004 to the present are set in a shared continuity.
Now keep in mind that there are numerous Nickelodeon shared universes, so know that when I use the term nsu I am referring specifically to the one connected to icarly, so let's talk about some icarly fan theories specifically connected to nsu, continuing from our last video let's talk about icarly fan theory number four drake and josh zoe 101 and icarly all take place in a shared universe. As I say this, many of you at home are probably smiling and nodding because it was intended to be something so obvious that even the kids at home could figure this out. icarly was created from the ground up to feature a lot of the basic building blocks introduced in other nickelodeon shows many of the brands, companies and movies that the characters will name tend to originate from zoe 101 or drake and josh, for example daka shoes, the shoe company that gives the group a sponsorship deal in season 1, that company originates from a story in drake and josh galaxy wars a concept often mentioned throughout the franchise also originated in drake and josh and it was mentioned in zoe 101 the peruvian peppers make a cameo in a story as we discussed and in the same episode you can see sam cooking with gary coleman grill again it's a reference to a classic drake and josh story, these minor references happen almost too often to keep track of and the thing is that after icarly took off, this trend continued with many things introduced in icarly than those featured in other Nickelodeon shows, for example, The Company's Technology par seen in the show later appeared on Victorious and several other shows as well on Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh, a TV movie that was filmed after Icarly began airing, when Josh is flipping through TV channels he briefly passes by the awards iweb, a concept. key to the event episode in Japan, easter eggs and similar references became common after icarly ended some obvious but others more subtle, for example, Ginger Fox, who you'll remember as the show's evil Britney Spears parody, who He later appeared on several shows with his song. from icarly being sung by a karaoke crew in Victorious and a reference to it even reaching Henry Danger years later, but I'm trying to download the new Ginger Fox music video, it's taking forever and I never liked any of those. later shows, but I was told that those types of cameos and references were far from uncommon and occur quite frequently;
However, if you're looking for something bigger than just Easter eggs and knock-off brands, then there are a couple of things worth talking about, specifically the four. characters that originated in drake and josh and later appeared in icarly first there is dr doty dr doty is a recurring character inNsu played by George Dodie IV, a producer on most of these shows in Drake and Josh, is briefly seen looking at an injured football player and in Icarly has been seen asking him to reattach an MMA fighter's ear. . A paramedic also played by Dodie is also seen in Ai Psycho and it is unclear if he is the same character, however for most people the clearest and most concrete evidence that Icarly is in the NSU can be found in the fourth season, specifically in episodes six and seven, where there is a running joke about different shady characters from other nsu shows being fans of the icarly webcast and coming to see them in person.
This begins when the gang enters webicon with zoe. 101 character Stacy Dilson is briefly seen in a crowd, this is then followed by the slightly more memorable appearances of Craig and Eric, the lovable nerd duo of Drake and Josh. Eric, as we know, is a big Credi fan, although Craig is totally ambivalent about Icarly in-universe. madness a few moments later we also see another person at the convention, a recurring employee of the theater where josh works on the drake and josh comedy. I will remind you that this episode is also the one where jack black appears and in some ways that seems like the least spectacular cameo of the episode, well now that we've gone ahead and broken it down I think we can all agree that this theory of fans is 100 canon.
Drake and josh concepts appear in icarly. The icarly concepts appear in Drake and Josh and Drake and Josh's characters make a cameo and Icarly, which means they are completely meant to be set in the same universe, so now that we've moved on and accepted that, let's move on to the following theory. Icarly fan theory number five. Drake and Josh are a television show. within the icarly universe, how are half of you right now, huh, that doesn't make sense and then the other half is like, oh yeah, I remember this too, this one is also real throughout the entire icarly show, it's occasionally hinted at and He then directly stated that the main characters are fans of the Nickelodeon sitcom Drake and Josh.
The biggest clue to this can be found in Sam's locker at school, where he has a cutout that is logically intended to be Drake's bell from the real world and clearly not the one inside. -universe drake parker other episodes follow this involvement in nuclear igo, the show's theme song is heard on the radio and at the eye party with victorious gibby is briefly seen wearing a baseball cap with the draken josh logo given to him by a makeup artist who works in Hollywood and finally in two episodes of the show the characters are seen watching the drake and josh comedy and making comments about it in I Get Joking.
Carly is seen sulking on the couch over her personal failure to pull off a prank and she is clearly watching an episode of drake and josh, you didn't kill her, the camera flash just shocked him, how is that girl so hot making jokes? Later in the episode, Spencer is briefly seen watching TV and the clip we hear is very clear. jerry traynor plays crazy steve also on drake and josh but most importantly on itah fat cakes carly is changing the channel and briefly watches the peruvian peppers episode rolling her eyes and saying she's already seen it and our final clue there's an episode on i pear shop that we have yet to talk about where an easter egg references both drake and josh and zoe 101, solidifying that they both seem to be tv shows within this universe, which is confusing, which I know, but basically we have to take this Drake at face value. and josh is set in the same universe as icarly and drakenjosh is a tv show within the icarly universe.
These two facts are difficult to reconcile, but they are both clearly intended to be canonical aspects of this universe and if that's too much for you. I don't think you're ready for the next icarly fan theory number six icarly is a television show within the icarly universe. Okay, I'm about to say a phrase that has never been said before in the history of the human race. I want to talk about game shakers because there are a lot of interesting things happening on that show. game shakers was an attempt by the creators of icarly to get their energy back years after it ended, it was basically the same idea as icarly about a group of preteen creators who suddenly become famous on the internet, except instead of creating web videos , they make video games.
To me, this was basically their attempt to try to imitate the YouTube culture of 2015 in the same way that they had imitated the YouTube culture of 2007, but I don't think so. This attempt almost went as well as the previous one and just as icarly managed to have a cameo from Fred to connect with said culture, the gaming agitators also looked for high status gaming youtubers to appear on their show, babe carano and kenzie bell, yes, these are both. 7th grade girls who are currently crushing their success with their hit game Skywell, here's why Game Shakers is relevant to nsu andre and josh's discussion.
There was a character named Helen who essentially ran the movie theater where Josh worked. She was interpreted by the communities. nicole brown event, except for that episode where she was played by a completely different woman and we all pretended not to notice, the point is that Helen would later become a character who would make cameos on many other shows to help sell the idea of the most notably victorious nsu. and Game Shakers was the final show where this ended up happening, so even putting aside all the evidence we've talked about so far on a basic level, Helen's appearance on all of these different shows must mean that these shows take place. in a shared meaning of continuity. that at least drake and josh victorious and game shakers take place in a shared universe and because icarly and victorious intersect so constantly that it eventually became permanent, we have to accept that icarly is part of that specific shared continuity which logically means that, By all evidence, icarly and game shakers are set in the same universe, however, there is a big problem because in the same way that there was a drake and josh cameo in game shakers, there was also an extended icarly cameo in game shakers because nathan kress appeared in an episode but he was not playing freddy benson, icarly's character, he was playing nathan kress, the actor within the game shakers universe who played freddie's character in the comedy icarly.
I might as well stop and break this episode down into some sort of detail because this was arguably the last piece of icarly media before you know what happened this very year, so at the beginning of the story, the shakers gang is trying out his latest video game, which is clearly something that runs in flash but is played with a dazzling ps4 controller Triple G finds a glitch in the game and Hudson tries to record a note about it on his juice box, meanwhile, Babe and Kenzie are distracted by an Icarly marathon currently airing on television.
Triple G tries to get them to focus, but it's just himself. mesmerized by the hilarity of the Nickelodeon classic, believe me, you have to leave me, what is that Ryder accessory? They initially watch an episode of season 4 and then an episode of season 6, but they finally get to the season 3 premiere, I think they kissed. Then they watched the same episode from season 4 as before, then an episode from season five and then they watched I Kiss from season two, which is the prequel to the episode they already watched before and also the episode ends clearly not in the half hour , but 13 minutes earlier, who is in charge of scheduling icarly marathons in this universe?
You couldn't have done a worse job on this show if you'd thrown a couple of bizarre ones in the middle, oh, it's like going into the slaughter, but it's not as fun after they get up and make some coffee. Triple G asks them if they've ever worked out which girl Freddie likes the most, causing them to say it's ambiguous but obvious. Anyway, they can't agree on who Freddie loves more. Triple G suggests they ask the man himself, since Nathan Kress is doing a play in New York and staying at a local hotel. The girls go to the hotel and witness how a very attractive woman seduces her to get the key of a celebrity that one of the girls is trying to get. do this herself but she's 12 so it's really weird what's the difference between her and us yeah okay okay Jesus I guess that's how the world works and then they sprinkle cilantro in their faces , which I guess is like a page 13 sledgehammer.
However, Triple G comes up with a brilliant idea and dresses Hudson up as Freddy Benson trying to convince the staff that he's Nathan Kress. This works and they are able to sneak the two girls into the room, thus orchestrating the home invasion and that is a gambling crime. Number one, they end up touching Chris' pizza, which is a weird line to say, and they go through his wallet, obsessed with the contents, he calls security and they freak out and hide in the bathroom, they finally come out and when he sees that only are. Eager fans, he cancels the security call, they give him back his wallet and ask him which girl he thinks Freddy would end up with.
Nathan almost gives his honest opinion before Double G bursts through the window as he was also trying to get in at this point. g is connected to a helicopter and orders it to fly by crashing it into the hotel window. Security shows up and quickly deduces that either these kids are doing something bad or Nathan Kress is actually doing something bad. They sprinkle everyone with cilantro. removed, that's it, there you have it, that's the most recent icarly themed episode set in the icarly universe, so anyway I'm going to go ahead and bring back that list of things that exist in the icarly universe and I'll to write the icarly sitcoms and also pro jared now that your brains have become liquid and are probably ready to accept almost anything, let's move on to icarly fan theory number seven, icarly is part of the action universe in I live off Disney Channel, okay, so I don't really do it personally.
I believe this one, but I came across this fan theory while researching the show and thought it was so funny and so charming that I had to include it in this segment. I talked a lot about this in my video about fictional presidents, but in the end At exactly the same time that Nickelodeon was building its own little sitcom universe, Disney Channel had become famous for doing the same thing but much better and much more coherently in the past. I've made fun of how ridiculously big this sitcom universe is because Girl Meet World's recent inclusion accidentally connects the universe to the ABC sitcom universe, which itself is pretty massive.
I have already pointed this out before, but I want to repeat it. My favorite detail about how easily all of these different shows can be linked is that Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the Wizards of Waverly Place are said to be specifically in the same universe, which to me implies that these witch societies are so secrets that there are like five and they don't know each other, however, they only complicate things even more. One fan theory I found online insisted that the Nickelodeon sitcom universe and the Disney Channel live-action universe are in fact the same shared universe.
Michelle Obama's number one evidence appears in both universes. Okay, that's it, thanks for watching guys, okay, actually that's not all the evidence. for the theory but everyone always points that out as if it means that something like michelle obama also exists in this universe and we are not part of the icarly universe as far as I know, however the main key clue to this is the sun girls. Sunshine Girls are a parody of the Girl Scouts who, by complete coincidence, appear in both Nickelodeon's sitcom universe and Disney Channel's live-action DC-Lau universe. They first appear in That So Raven and later make appearances in the Cory spin-off. in the house and then in the Nickelodeon sitcom universe they appear first, I believe in icarly and then they make cameos in shows like Victorious and finally we have Icarly fan theory number eight.
Icarly and Frasier are set in the same shared universe, make it happen people. and with that we have finished our final intermission of icarly and now we move on to the sixth season of icarly. Season 6 is going to be a strange experience for me because at this point in the show's history I had completely 100% stopped watching Nickelodeon, so I ignored the finale, which I did my best to watch, I have no prior experience With none of the episodes we're about to talk about, it seems to me that going into this, icarly season 6 can be defined by two main things, celebrity cameos that I probably had kids who told them the show was great and which had the lowest ratings in historyof the program.
Now I want to clarify something very quickly. I often hear people say, well, Icarly started out big, but then it really fell in the ratings at the end and while that's technically true, it's a little dishonest to say it that way, saying that icarly fell in the ratings implies that at this stage there was another show that took its previous place and was as popular as before and that is simply not true icarly was a ratings peak for the Nickelodeon channel that would never really be replicated. There's a great page on Wikipedia that I've used constantly throughout this project that basically ranks Nickelodeon premieres by highest viewership numbers and I think it boils down to like the top 35 or 45 but what's up with that page? is that the latest is the end of icarly the big take here is not that icarly was failing it's not even that nickelodeon was failing the real take is that cable was failing In 2012, Netflix and Hulu were really starting to take off as streaming alternatives. streaming services and what people forget about that era is that it didn't take long for the middle class to basically turn on cable because cable sucks viewing numbers right now. for cable TV are absurdly low compared to things that were happening a decade or two before a Cartoon Network show aired for half a decade and you go and check who's been watching it live and it's like half a million people per episode.
That's why a lot of these old cable stations are now creating their own streaming services despite how hard it is to track how many of them there are now, but you know this subtle nuance doesn't change the fact that the next 13 episodes of icarly are statistically the ones you are least likely to have seen before, so let's start with perhaps one of the strangest episodes of the entire series. You are about to see a very special episode of icarly. It's not for normal people. It was disturbing, which is why April 1, 2012 was a big night for Nickelodeon, as it presented two very special premieres whose content was intended to be regular unsolicited surrealism, in short, lol, random.
The first of them was icarly season 6 episode 1 on the innocents and the second was victorious season 3 episode 7 april fools is blank the intention of these episodes, to put it more simply, was to feel that their respective shows if viewed under the influence both follow a fluid, nonsensical timeline and both are not intended to be canon yet are canon to each other, the icarly episode is intended to be a trippy parody of clip show episodes and, in fact, the suggestion that icarly do her own clip show, so let's go ahead and play along with the humor as we move towards the season six premiere at the beginning of The Story of Carly and Spencer are packing their things when we meet we learn that they are being forced out of their apartment and will never be able to return, when we learn that Spencer forgot to pay the apartment rent and Carly accidentally stabbed the building's owner. all their favorite memories, starting with the time they watched an episode of a classic sitcom in their living room which we flash back to before returning to the present;
However, they still have two more hours before they have to leave, so they decide to have a big party, they invite Tebow, who is a genie who lives in a lamp, and ask him to teleport them to the next scene where the party It moves and everyone has fun, however, they realize that they don't have a bush party and Freddie begins to have an intense mental breakdown because of this Tebow materializes one with his genie magic and everything is fine, they settle in and quickly settle in. It makes it obvious that they are going to do a clip show through flashbacks, but there is a trap for everyone.
The clips are actually carefully recreated moments with major twists in all the events that begin. We cut to the pilot where Miss Briggs rejects Carly's list of boys to be on the talent show; However, at that moment a temporary wormhole opens. out of the hallway and another miss briggs emerges. I am the real miss briggs from an alternate universe. However, Miss Briggs reveals that if her energies collide she will cause an explosion of galactic magnitude. The two begin a physical fight and energy pulses through them. then they both explode carly then thinks of the idea of starting a web show and freddy runs and suggests the name i carly sparky barks and they laugh at her comment we come back to the present and we find out that sparky is now dead but that his head is mounted on the wall where he still moves and barks.
Also Gibby occasionally comes in and hits Spencer with a stop sign. A scene that is much more famous for the web exclusive version. For some reason, they then have a flashback to the girl's episode where a new one appears. The character shouting in Japanese is inserted into the dialogue. Gibby then enters the flashback and knocks the man out with the stop sign and Sam says he'll go get a shovel while Carly dances a little in the present. The gang reflects on a few more famous flashbacks that aren't real before the Japanese guy enters the present and hits Gibby with the stop sign and finally gets his revenge.
Sam then electrocutes him with the wrong end of the shock pen. The party bush says he needs water and Tebow returns. to bring a small storm that no one seems to react strongly to even though Icarly is moving away she is still in a good mood which makes the gang wonder if she was ever in a bad mood, they then specifically remember a situation in the one she was. some stuffed mushrooms who cares when they escaped from the flashback they have now changed location being in victorious tory's house with robbie and rex sitting in front of them robbie insists that it is gibby and as the gang look at the audience laughing hysterically, of They suddenly back off the gang, then I remember when Spencer had long hair, specifically when Freddie got hit by a taco truck and then he and Carly went out, which Carly refers to as 12 million viewers even though there were only 11.
Spencer insists that her hair was so long and we see a flashback where it is about three times longer than it actually was in the episode in question and Spencer is using makeup to make her look even more like a girl, her hair becomes Even longer as the clip develops, Carly is then visited by Mr. Bushwell and Luberd hasn't seen him in a long time and the gang tricks the couple into getting together in a flashback where they agree to let Carly and Spencer stay, we never leave this flashback and simply accept that the group is forced The rewriting of the story has not been questioned after Spencer arrives dressed as a doctor from Back to the Future and says that it is from a future episode of Icarly where Freddy is raising children with Sam or Carly, although he says he can't remember which one he wonders about. how they can get to the future, at which point tebow flies in with a supersonic bubble and shrinks them for the trip inside the ship.
Carly asks if her show will still air in reruns in the future, to which Spencer responds in reruns where we are. Come on, we don't need reruns and yes, that's a pretty accurate prediction. I guess now it wasn't just a happy waste of everyone's time. I love when you get to the last season of a TV show and they run out of ideas. that they make an episode that purposely sucks and doesn't count, we'll talk a little more about this April Fools verse a little later, but for now let's continue with the actual final 12 episodes of the show. and the only place that makes sense to start is episode two of season six, so like I told you, season six is a strange beast for me because it's a collection of episodes that I've never seen before, but the strangest thing is exactly how many of these.
The episodes could be called event stories, but they don't give up on event stories. An event episode in season 3 carried some weight even if you haven't seen it, maybe you've heard people talk about it somehow, but I'm not sure. I could say the same about a lot of the episodes we're about to get into the case of episode two of season 6, I'm going in one direction, the episode where the cast meets the boy band One Direction right away. , I imagine some of you are assuming this is an editing trick or a dedicated lie, but neither is true.
This episode is 100 percent legit and just isn't talked about often, so let's see what all the fuss is about at the beginning of the episode. Spencer and Carly return from a long trip where Carly has contracted some kind of virus. Spencer suggests that she take her to a hospital, but she says that she just needs to get home and be alone. They opened the door and found all the other main characters inside the decapitated head of Sam Freddy Tebow, Gibby, what is he? happening here i'm cooking steaks playing video games i'm in a kiddie pool yeah are we sure we're not in the april fools episode yet? carly kills and spencer says she's dying and the left track gets really loud for some reason , we find out that Carly has jungle worms and Gibby runs out of the room screaming, we're told that jungle worms are basically identical to tapeworms, but I just don't want to use that terminology for some reason.
I wonder why after the opening sequence, Carly is visited by the show's recurring doctor character, who tells her that she's over the jungle worms, but she might still be contagious, so she shouldn't kiss any boy. The good news is that she doesn't have a boyfriend and she doesn't plan on meeting any world-famous boy bands anytime soon. Freddy bursts into the room and announces that he just received an email from a world-famous British pop band called One Direction Sam. she's excited carly is excited and gibby is really excited the guys say they're going to be in the seattle area and they'd love to be in icarly to perform a song in their dirty shitty attic later oh they changed the transitions i don't like it a lot this version, Sam runs in and says One Direction just arrived and they're on their way up and we don't need to introduce them, we just transitioned them to do a song that I can't play clips of, they told them that.
While practice has gone well, the real show starts around 7:30. Sam sexually harasses the band members, which is funny because they're guys and Gibby offers to rub his feet. This might seem more like 1D fanfiction if someone started talking about Zayn's cat, Carly Sam. and freddie go down to get snacks for the band and harry suddenly gets really thirsty, which makes him take a drink from carly's water bottle, which is obviously a problem because she's still contagious with jungle worms, while Spencer has both repaired some exercise equipment he found in a junkyard and tricks an attractive woman into thinking he is a personal trainer, get it, trainer, however the woman actually sends her 12 year old daughter who smells his sugar candy.
I've seen this story on 17 different sitcoms. Harry is really sick and Zayn and all the other members stand around and stare at him. I also swear to God. I don't think they had that many members in the last scene. Will someone hug me? No, no, no, Harry tries to drink more from Carly's water bottle and everyone finds out what it is. it happened harry stays in carly's bed for a week wow that sounds like fan fiction but it doesn't get better and the recurring doctor doesn't know why harry asks carly to make him a very special cut of fruit and change his socks with warm socks.
However, they eventually begin to piece things together. Harry Styles isn't sick anymore, he's just pretending so he can continue spending time in Carly's room, spending time with her, and getting her to take care of her. Okay, serious question for anyone who's into this. episode when you got the script it looked like this or it looked like this because no offense but this reads like something you'd find in a high school lost and found, meanwhile little Spencer's training is really upset and angry because no one She likes her Spencer suggests she try to be nicer and comes up with the idea of getting a makeover.
I have a question: has this girl noticed that an address keeps hanging around this apartment that she was spending all this time in because I think that would be the main thing that most teenage girls would have noticed in that period of time, if Harry Styles is Sick and stuck in Carly's bed for much longer, they'll have to cancel their tour so he can stay in Seattle. The good news is that while you wait you can leave. going out in public to a smoothie shop because Harry is the only member of the band anyone can recognize.
Freddy thinks of a great way to try to encourage Harry to stop pretending by making him think that he is going to be replaced in the band. You don't know what you are. The beautiful HarryHe suddenly feels much better and insists that he can perform at Icarly that night. Spencer tries to give that girl a makeover, but she says he made her look worse, she calls him an idiot and storms off, Spencer yells at him that they can't just break up with her. story there and they have to have some kind of resolution. Get it, they broke the fourth wall.
They never do. That the gang performed the song. It's over. They separated three years later. I guess this episode is why I'm actually here. Really impressed with how unique this episode feels, it's so creative in its softness, it really takes this concept much further than most of the episodes from the last few seasons. I love the fact that they had Harry Styles on the show and wrote him as a horrible person. Of course, Harry Styles is a bastard in this universe, that makes sense in comparison. The plain white t-shirts were on this show in the first season and I forgot to mention that because it's like they came to sing a song and walked off stage, but here.
It's like a whole saga, they wrote it in an hour but it's interesting to see it, at least next let's talk about episode 3 of the sixth season. I open a restaurant, perhaps the most anticipated filler episode of the entire series. For several classes in a row, Gibby mysteriously disappears from school. , Sam goes to investigate and discovers where it is in the school basement, which no one has known about for decades before Gibby discovered it. Gibbster plans to achieve his biggest dream in this new location by secretly opening a restaurant. Carly says that this is ridiculous and that he will surely get caught, but Freddie and Sam believe that he has a chance to do this.
A joke in this case is that Freddy is starting to fall in love with Carly again and it's weird for everyone because it's like reverse character development. too late for you to love me what nothing carly returns to her apartment but is hit by a huge flash and is temporarily blinded as spencer has built a giant combination of camera lights as a security feature this is a fragment that was stolen from frasier and They thought we wouldn't notice at school, the restaurant is a total success and they named it after their name was said out loud for comedic effect.
Gibby isn't worried about being ratted out because he's only invited interesting people to attend and Sam, his business partner and secretly his muscle-bound Gibby, put red pepper in Carly's pasta, but he overdoes it and she struggles to find water until she finally They hand them the interesting lemonade, that's the red pepper lemonade, it's the stupidest joke the show has ever made and I love it, Carly. He runs out of the room screaming then runs back into the room screaming then runs out of the room screaming back to the apartment Spencer has built a secondary security system which is a robot that goes crazy and shoots popcorn balls at everyone.
That Sam can hook up Gibby gets better decor and seating and mounts his own decapitated head on the wall. A school bully with a fake New York accent who just came out of Juvi shows up. The bully busts Gibby's chops telling all his friends that Gibby loved to take his shirt off to which Gibby says he doesn't do that, no maul, the kid insists that Gibby get partially naked and Gibby throws a fit. Saying that it's his place and that he deserves respect, Sam keeps him there until they close and then fills the stocking with butter. up with a pound of fresh butter hitting him repeatedly and splattering butter everywhere the character doesn't get back up there's just silence after this and there's a few strange minutes where the b plot plays out and you're not sure if you just saw literal happen murder, but it turns out that Sam just broke his arm and betrays Gibby to Mr.
Howard. Mr. Howard discovers that the principal is attending the restaurant and orders the place to be closed because it is against school ordinances. Principal Franklin admits that this is his duty and tells Gibby to shut the place down, however, when Howard and the bully are gone, he tells Gibby that he was just lying. Gibby's is the best food he's had in a long time and he insists it stays open. I guess Gibby doesn't I don't go to class anymore, what a stupid episode. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and skip episode 4 and skip to episode 5 because it seems like a good idea to cover the two most infamous filler episodes together at once.
This episode is one. one of the very, very rare cases on this show where I can honestly say that the a plot here is one of the weakest in the history of the show, but the b plot comes close to being one of the highlights at the beginning of the story that spencer has just built. one of his first sculptures in a long time depicting a gigantic snow woman and because it's Spencer, the statue catches on fire, a joke that has only grown in volume since it was introduced, the firefighters who put this out are very upset as it has easily become the most infamous. man in Seattle to those in the department, the chief declares that it's been fun meeting them, but since this is the 18th fire that Spencer has accidentally caused, they have decided not to answer calls from Shea's house again if Spencer ever starts another fire in this building in Seattle.
The department will let everyone in the apartment complex die f-a-b Meanwhile, in the C-plot, Gibby is trying the deodorant for the first time, but can't decide which one he likes best, so he starts shoving the characters in his two armpits and then asks them which one. he likes it more gibby it's a lot of fun okay do it right just believe me and come on breathe the plot. Freddy gets a job at the hardware store where he gets a discount and shares his love of technology with others, however, he is too enthusiastic. Tawdry conversations don't sell products, and when Sam bullies a customer into spending more money, she's hired and quickly promoted to a higher position, while Gibby starts talking to a different employee, causing the customer to have a mental breakdown.
At the same time Carly starts flirting with Spencer, a cute tech guy who seems pretty uncomfortable, she goes to the fire department and tries to apologize for the years of mistakes they brought to all the brownies. He says he needs to have confidence that the department will come to help if there are problems and that's why they arise. with a solution, spencer will join as a firefighter for a whole week and then he will understand your pain i wonder if he's going to burn down the fire department oh look, he's burning down the fire department oh look, he's back from burning down the fire department carly invites the cute boy comes on a date and leaves the room for a second when she returns.
She is now a totally different person and he pursues her until Spencer throws him out. Freddie realizes that working at the pair shop is no fun, while Sam is there and he quits, Sam quits too, since that's apparently the only reason she was working there in the first place. Now let's go back to the episode we skipped before episode 4 of season 6. This episode is notable for two main reasons, first of all it is the second and last Halloween episode of the show and the second is the last Neville Peppermint story. Now this episode originally aired in April 2012, so you might be wondering how this can be a Halloween episode.
Well, it's simple, the plot of this one is. about the characters who realize that Halloween is the best time of the year but it only happens once and so they decide to create a new holiday that is celebrated every April perfectly between the previous Halloween and the next. I don't think I'll have time. for a Halloween video this year, so I appreciate this set for the five extra seconds you can watch it. Creepy and scary skeletons. This show ruined my schedule. The team decides they want to throw a party that Saturday night and announce it on their webcast for strangers to see.
He's coming to Carly's house, which is obviously what you'd like to happen. When this happens, we see a shadowy figure open a notepad and start writing down plans for revenge. Freddy dresses like Lubert, Sam dresses like hand sanitizer, and Carly dresses like sushi. I'm not going to lie, it's adorable, they throw the party and Spencer makes a game where you carry a basket of stuffed animals on a rope and you have 8 seconds to grab as many as you want to keep, a robot comes in and gives the trio candy, but after they eat it, their voices become deep and distorted.
Freddy finds the robot upstairs and discovers that it is Neville. He calls Carly and tells her what he found, but at that moment two thugs take him aside. Neville plans to strip Freddie naked and put him in the robot costume so Carly and Sam can antagonize him instead. Carly and Sam find the robot and think it is Neville and strap it to Spencer's machine and repeatedly send it up and down inside the stuffed animals. The girls think that hurts Neville so much. It will mean that he will never bother them again until Neville shows up with his group.
It turns out that Neville wants revenge because after he yelled at that guy in a wheelchair they refused to help him repair his public image a second time, no matter how Carly says he is. I'm sorry she didn't help and invites him to join the party. Neville gets so comfortable that he takes off his muscles and then Carly orders Sam to take him and then they do to him what they did to Freddie by putting him down. on the plushies over and over again this episode is the dumbest excuse for why Neville wants revenge it's the dumbest way he's ever found revenge and it's the dumbest comeuppance he's ever gotten like oh he gave them candy which makes their voices deep oh oh but don't worry because they're going to put him down to a bunch of stuffed animals over and over again, what a total waste of one of the show's most famous stories.
I mean, he really feels like the show is sleepwalking through this final season. of episodes, so we just talked about Neville's final episode and so it's only fitting that our next story is Chalk's final episode, as you may remember, he was the mean kid who bullied Spencer during seasons 2 and 3 before disappearing from the extended series. cast and unfortunately this episode is no exception. To that we learned the beginning of the story that Chuck is now in 8th grade and is therefore so physically large that he can prank Spencer in the best way by making him his friends tear off his clothes and force him to run home naked.
He brings home tree branches, but accidentally brings a beehive with him and the bees sting his penis. Spencer goes to the police and files a report about the incident. The police take crime very seriously, which means that Chalk eventually has to go to a reformatory or military school and his father chooses military school. Spencer then runs into Chip, Chuck's little brother, and runs away in fear that may be looking for revenge, he is then attacked by chip and has fruits taped even in sensitive places, chip then decides that he also wants to ruin Carly's life by playing loud music so she can't do her webcast without getting a copy.
Meanwhile, in Gibby's plot, Gibby buys a working Galaxy Wars phaser, but Sam breaks it when he throws a thug over a table. was sitting Freddy tries to fix it but accidentally fixes it too well as it now works properly like a real phaser. Eventually it starts to overload and Spencer has to throw it away from the apartment where he lands next to Chip who is putting down glue. trap, the phaser explodes and the chip is stuck to a wall. I applaud them for finding an actor who really captured Chuck's energy, but this episode just screams last-minute rewrite.
I guess this is because the Chuck actor was still busy acting on the Disney Channel show. that they gave him after leaving icarly and in the end this feels like another pointless filler episode ok we have now officially reached the halfway point of icarly's final season at this point the show took a brief four month hiatus , but when The Returned Commercials curiously announced the remaining episodes as the beginning of the final season of the show, implying that these remaining episodes are actually season 7 of icarly. I don't see it this way, I consider the rest of these episodes to be season 6 of icarly. part 2. but as a sort of mini mock interlude I thought it would be appropriate if we stopped here and told you basically everything I've forgotten to talk about up to this point if I said, "Okay, here's everything I have." I haven't mentioned it yet, we'll just stop and mention it all here, okay I forgot to mention number one, sako, there's a running joke in the series where characters will constantly point out that Spencer doesn't seem to have taste. adult friends and really only hangs out with teenagers, but there are two main exceptions to this: The first exception is that we discover at the end of season four and then again at the beginning of season five that Spencer has a very close-knit group of people. friends with whom he only meets whenCarly is at school and she has a book club with these women and she has a baking club with these women and, somewhat out of character, she doesn't try to sleep with any of these women, she just enjoys herself. like meeting him and discussing romance novels and that sort of thing and this is set up entirely as a kind of joke so that the other characters, can you tell, castrate him, accuse him of being effeminate because he goes to a book club and so on. so and so see you all at judy's next week you're coming to the baby shower right yeah what happened to you man but for almost every other episode of the show the strictly followed canon is that Spencer only has one adult friend and that's sako sako es spencer's friend who has a sock company he is often seen talking to and never appears on screen but every time spencer talks to someone slightly off screen he is either having a phone conversation with someone or mentions someone In her life, Asako is almost always the person she's growing up with or talking to off-screen, Spencer, did you make this cake?
Yes, it is for a bag. See, since he owns his own sock company, I made his birthday cake shaped like a sock, but that's arguably the most memorable aspect of Sako is his extended family. There's a constantly running joke where Spencer will call on Sako's family to perform various tasks and the joke is that Sako has all these weird extended family members who specialize in different things. crafts and different trades and each of those people also has a pun attached to their name, for example, bernie, who works in torches, tyler, who sells ties, otto, who sells cars, boomer, who works with explosives and my favorite robbery, which steals many things.
Of the things that I wanted to cover in this video that I didn't cover come from the first season because when I was doing the first season I imagined this as a much smaller project and I had this plan where at the end I was going to do a short follow-up that I was going to call the iceberg by icarly because it would be fun to write it that way, but when I was halfway through the second season I thought this was going to be so big that it needed to include everything. So, in summary, there are a lot of things in the first season that I should have covered in depth and I didn't because I was saving it as a bonus video that I will never make one of the big ones.
The episodes that I feel like people were probably upset that I checked out was the police episode. There's this episode in the first season where the police like to take over Shea's apartment for a stakeout and it's one of the most memorable episodes of the show, but it didn't really fit thematically with the rest of the show, so I barely mentioned it. . What is this big spoon to you? You ate my soft cake, why would you eat my sake? I don't even know who you are, how could you? I have seen a Many people say that the Icarly police episode is an example of how the police violate the third amendment of the constitution which basically says that, in times of peace, citizens cannot be forced to provide housing for people like the army or police. and so on, I don't think that's the case.
If you watch the episode, they ask if they can use the apartment as a stakeout and Spencer says yes because she assumes it's the right thing to do and after this, they overstay their welcome and completely inconvenience themselves, but the only reason they don't They kick them out it's because like everyone says we have to be nice to the police so it's not like they're being, they literally come and say we're taking over this apartment I see the bag I think that's our guy it's definitely our guy you got it the illegal DVD guy not the pizza guy we ordered one half an hour ago hope you don't mind man we use your credit card that episode, the entire entertainment value of that one lies in the fact that it's so blatantly anti-police , which isn't something you see a lot on kids' shows, you guys help me get rid of those annoying cops, yeah, well maybe you should shut down your investigation, damn it.
I have a web show here stupid cops who don't clean up after themselves by interrupting our web show. I bet we could get evidence faster than those dumb cops. A statement I made at the beginning of the last video as a joke was that every character has one. father, where we have absolutely no idea what happened to that person you know and that's almost true, but while watching the show, I gathered some clues for those of you who want to know, it has been confirmed within the canon of the show. that freddy has a father he is not a clone freddie has a father and sam has a father she is not a clone she has a father I mean in the second or third season there is a joke where freddie mentions that he doesn't have much money because her mom won't let her because she's afraid that if she brings enough for the bus fare she will suddenly leave her um and the characters are going well that's crazy and freddie says it's not that crazy and the implication of that joke is that Freddy had a father, but the father hated Freddy's mother so much that one day he ran away, but the funny thing about Freddy's father and Sam's father is that it is exactly the same story, the only reason we know that these guys you know have fathers.
It is occasionally joked that his parents hated his mother so much that they simply ran away. Where is your father? Tell me and this is only mentioned in the context of the punchlines and it's never really mentioned that these two characters have a fairly similar origin. stories it's like this, they both have the same running joke that comes out when it comes to getting their moms and dads to like them, he told me I'm unique, yeah, and my dad once told my mom he'd be back, so let's move on forward. One last thing I want to mention about this show and I really wanted to joke about this in the last video, but I forgot the whole time I was working on this project, okay, I've been writing all these bits and recording.
All of this, I've constantly had this fear buried in the back of my mind that while I'm working on this project one of these actors is going to be canceled because I've been working on this project for nine ten months now, so for me it's completely realistic that I like to have this long written segment on tape where I'm just praising one of these actors to the high heavens and right when I click publish, right when I hit the publish button, that actor does something terrible. I'll be mad for saying this, but I always worry about Gibby, uh, because Gibby's the one in the cast and if he got canceled you'd say yeah, that makes sense and then you'd go back to making your coffee.
I wouldn't even think about it and you know people are going to be really, really upset because I said that and they're going to be like, why Gibby? Why are you pointing it out? Well, let me explain myself here, let me explain myself. I have an explanation: Noah Monk is a male Nickelodeon comedy star who later became a YouTube gaming comedian, which are the top two categories of beaten ducks statistically. The only way he could be more likely to be canceled is if he hosted Jeopardy for a week over and over again. I'm not saying it's cancelled.
I'm not saying he has evidence that it should be cancelled. I'm saying it's like one of my fears that it will be canceled and I won't be able to enjoy Gibby's compilations anymore. I like it and I feel that way with the entire cast. I don't want Jerry Trainer to be cancelled. I don't want Nathan Crest to be cancelled. I don't want anyone to be cancelled. I want all these actors to never do anything wrong so I can continue enjoying this show that doesn't have a creator. Okay, is there anything else about Icarly that we logically should have talked about, but haven't?
No, I don't have anything. Okay, let's move on, season 6, episode 7. it aired on october 7, 2012. the title is i shock america and long story short it's the jimmy fallon episode at the beginning of the story. spencer is looking at jimmy fallon and laughing hysterically, that's how you know it's fiction, fallon suddenly name drops icarly and spencer freaks out when he gathers carly and freddy and shows them to her. Jimmy Fallon likes Icarly. I know. I can't believe he watches the show. Spencer's date ditches him and instead spends the night with Gibby, who is still a minor. Ha ha.
Sexual abuse, so the group. do a tribute to jimmy fallon on icarly's webcast and jimmy watches this because he watches the show every week which explains a lot of things, bagels makes a cameo because he's the only supporting actor they've been able to stop Disney Channel from stealing from them . a video call request from the real jimmy fallon and it is the real jimmy fallon who invites them to come to new york and be on his show. Tina Fey appears on the screen and helps him end the call so they can go to Jimmy Fallon and participate.
In a game where they are supposed to dance until a pair of gloves and a hat fall off, however, Gibby dances too fast and shows his balls on live television while they take a commercial break, Fallon tries to fend off the critics. As the gang tries to figure out how they're going to fix things after the show, Spencer can't help but find the whole situation funny and everyone else thinking it's the most serious thing that's ever happened to them, they do a live stream next time. day telling the audience not to blame fallon because it was all his fault that morning they have a meeting with the fcc who tells them that they are going to fine them five hundred thousand dollars they were initially going to find fallon before watching the live broadcast of icarly and If Icarly can't pay, the FCC will shut down Icarly's webcast after they have a meeting at Seinfeld's restaurant, which is funny, I guess, then Spencer makes a Kramer entrance, which is funny, I guess Gibby then says that he once pooped in a trash can. box which is what they think they can't raise the money but they are invited back to Fallon as a surprise, he reveals that the night before he tweeted that anyone with spare change should stop by and give a ride to the mothers and children passing by the station. to give any pocket change they have and because of this they have raised $576 thousand, which means they can keep their web program.
Episode 8 of Season 6 is called "I Get Banned" and is the last episode with the sacred Tebow theme in history, Tebow Suddenly. he arrives at Shea's apartment doing the pranks the writers used to pull on Spencer, shoots Carly's boyfriend with a lemon and knocks him unconscious, and then runs out of the room when he's called. Later, the wonderful smoothie Carly sees Tebow wearing his shirt. -shirt that he says he took from her room when she was out of the apartment, then they leave with the milkshakes they just ordered, but when he tries to get Sam to pay, she uses a Jedi mind trick on him, telling him that these aren't the droids you are looking for?
I'm adding that to the List Tebow comes over in the middle of the night and watches a movie at the Shea house about a Jamaican astronaut named Monanda Moon. Carly finally gets over her lack of respect for his privacy and so she bans Tebow from entering the apartment, saying he's no longer allowed. to visit her house, Spencer goes out and Carly says that she always sleeps while she listens to things that happen. No, I woke up, heard foreigners and tried to call the police. Strangely, Carly arrives the next day at Groovy Smoothie, at which point she is told that she is prohibited from entering.
Meanwhile, the location, Gibby and Freddy discover that girls really like bands and date people who are in one, even if they are ugly, so they start a fake band just to meet girls, but when Sam finds out , he books them a real gig and they are forced to perform Tebow calls Spencer's ass the next day and says he only comes here once in a while to get away from the Bensons Carly says he must be exaggerating too much about how bad it is causing him say that if she can spend one night with the couple, he will randomly stop by and she will be unbanned from the wonderful smoothie, okay, the first thing we learn in this segment is that Mrs.
Benson weighs all her food, wait , it becomes strange, she weighs everything. of her food, then she weighs her poop, she poops on a scale and then uses it to decide how much nutrition she has given the food to her body. I asked you, I told you, I told you not to make me watch this show anymore, you made me keep watching what. Did you make a long story after a midnight fire drill? Carly says that she understands and that she can come at any time. Tebow says he'll see her in the wonderful shake. Gibby knocks Freddie unconscious during his performance and I'm going to take a hot bath to try to unlearn everything this project has taught me, so let's go ahead and watch episode 9 step by step in the introduction of the story, we see a parody where gibby and bagels get married because yes, of course, let's keep literally milking the yogurt bag, then we see freddy and Sam is downstairs, Sam is showing off an incredible talent that he has.
He can place a chicken wing inside his mouth and then remove everything but the bone with just his tongue and the inside of his mouth. Yes, I won't touchthat. We discovered it. Carly is planning Spencer's birthday party and is trying to think of a list of people to invite the group to go through a long series of continuity checkpoints and notices that Sako is on a safari with her hunter cousin, Spencer is currently fighting with tebow over the pronunciation of a word. and spencer was apparently kicked out of his book club after accidentally setting fire to a box of books which book they were reading fahrenheit 451 pronounced fahrenheit spencer comes home from playing tennis with a friend notices his tool became loose and the gang asked him what friend he was hanging out with and who oh no oh oh spencer that's just weird man I'm kinda geez so the gang decides they're going to find Spencer's friends their own age and look for people on totally normal conditions. ways to look in locker rooms and men's bathrooms because when you're looking for friends open nudity is the right place to start, Spencer ends up meeting up with several of the friends the gang picked for him and the trio meet up at a restaurant and check this out.
From across the room, Freddy makes fun of a waiter who is slow and has a strange voice and the waiter hears this and says that he will get Freddy's food first. Sam says the waiter will do something to his food, something he says. not likely, although a brief glance from the man in question seems to confirm that he is indeed about to do something with Freddie's food, meanwhile Spencer hates his new friends and discovers that they only talk about politics, taxes, laws and theatrics he constantly tries to adapt too much to his inability to make a good impression, loudly turning the conversation to nerdy franchises and other tangents.
Eventually, the waiter returns with Freddy's fries and is called out by the place manager for going into an alley for several minutes with a customer's plate of fries. I can only think of one thing this man would have been doing for several minutes in an alley with Freddy's food due to a bit of confusion. Freddy's plate of fries ends up being delivered to Spencer's table, but all the men deny him any of the food and he runs back to his teenage friends who love and support him unconditionally, suddenly Emma Stone appears, what and yes, Emma Stone recognizes the Icarly gang and starts freaking out, getting louder and weirder as she takes selfies with paraphones complete with screen crosses. and even runs to the men's room to meet gibby, where it's his turn for the meatballs, these chili fries taste weird, I don't feel so good, meanwhile, all of Spencer's fake friends get what they deserve and start throwing up the fries fried.
It's a good thing Spencer has his birthday and they celebrate with a giant spaghetti taco and also a laser tag Jamaican man. I wonder why Tebow isn't in this one. I can't think of a reason why the actor wouldn't have done it. I said yes to this real talk, real talk, can we take a moment to recover from the fries? I'm just, let's all breathe sometimes, when you're so far away, you lose context, everything turns to noise, so I want to make sure we stop here and just say what's the name of episode 10 of the man.
I rescue Carly and it's one of Sam's old friends from juvie who suddenly breaks out of her and Carly really wants to be friends with her despite being Carly. You know there is something to do. I said about how history in this show's universe has warped over time, like in seasons one and two, I was under the impression that it certainly said that Sam hadn't been in juvie, in fact, in the Christmas special Sam was seen being in reform school. as some kind of otherworldly bad ending that Carly could have avoided, but when Jeanette McCurdy got sick in season three, Juvi was the excuse they came up with for the episode and since then the character has always been stated as a seasoned veteran of the juvenile court.
Anyway, we meet Sam's friend from juvie who recently came out and announces that she's having a big party, which isn't what you'd think a big party is, it's a reunion where several former juvie kids are going. to an abandoned place. house and destroy everything inside, funnily enough Carly really likes this idea and insists on being there while in private Sam's prison friend makes fun of Carly behind her back something just clicked about why I don't like the new ones transitions the old transitions were like someone clicking on things in windows movie maker which makes it feel like something a youtuber would have used in the past and the new transitions feel like an editing timeline that specifically edits the episode itself, which makes it seem like we're not watching Freddy going through his archives like before, we're watching someone at Nickelodeon edit the comedy, so in the b-plot, Spencer reveals that she's found an old pair of vision glasses. nocturnal that allow you to tickle people in the dark.
Alright, Gibby takes off his shirt the first time she's around. I've been doing this since season 3. You know, I was sure that nudity was what was missing from Icarly, but somehow this still doesn't feel right. Sam says she has no intention of going to the big party because she doesn't think they really need you there. Carly says she's going anyway and Sam thinks he's joking. Carly actually goes but immediately feels insecure and asks Freddie to come and tell her. escort out of the party the rowdy gang stops freddie carly and gibby from leaving by tying them against the wall and throwing plates in their general direction sam suddenly discovers where they are and bursts into the room you come here to dance randomly with your little icarly friends wow she actually looks at icarly, pulls out her butter sock and asks if the rowdy gang can see very well in the dark as she dims the lights, starts kicking ass and within 30 seconds there's no one left standing.
Sam has saved his friends as well as Gibby and agrees to go skirt shopping with Carly the next day. Okay, so the next episode is. one that is exciting for me personally because it is the same episode that led to this miniseries existing in the first place season 6 episode 11 i lost my mind in las vegas the icarly pawn stars crossover that first made me consider the idea of reevaluating this show for a year ago At the beginning of the episode during the Icarly webcast, Sam receives a text message on his phone and learns that his mother has been arrested in Las Vegas and needs to be released on bail from prison, he runs out of the room and the web show ends while Gibby has eaten an entire bag of sugar for a while and starts tinkering and Freddy supports him in this because he is a good friend.
Sam finds out that his family's lawyer can't get his mother out of jail until Monday, so they asked Spencer to lend him Sako's RV. again and they take them across the country to Las Vegas, they don't have enough money to bail Mrs. Puckett out, so they bring a bunch of stuff from their apartments to try to sell at a pawn shop and Gibby brings his head because They've never been to Las Vegas before and yes, the store they go to is the pawn star store, what an epic meme. Almost everything they have brought is useless and worthless, and for the most part, they don't even manage to make a sale.
Gibby and Chum Lee meet, and briefly. They are brought together by the fact that they are basically the same character, is there something wrong with your brain? Yes, yours, yes, Chum Lee suddenly blurts out that Gibby's pants are old and valuable and asks him to join him in the back room based on Chum Lee's prison. record, I think this is another moment where Gibby is sexually assaulted, Carly and Sam tried to sell a bottle of water that Michelle Obama half-finished when she was on the show, so if I took a sip of this, you'd be swallowing DNA of the first lady.
He agrees to buy the bottle for 2,500, the exact amount they need to get Mrs. Benson out of prison. Gibby wakes up and announces that she sold her pants for 200 dollars and gave me this friend-flavored lollipop. Fun fact: Chumley actually had a candy store in the real world, it was a drug front. Gibby puts all of his money in his bag and says that he will return to the RV, but first Chumley says that he will give Gibby some spare pants. The gang receives a text saying they need to rescue Sam's mom. They left prison at midnight and unknowingly escaped, leaving Gibby behind.
Hey, what do you want to drink some of the first lady's DNA? Tell me they just had to retroactively do the Michelle Obama episode. Freddie Sam, Carly and Spencer fled to the prison and realized it. They forgot about Gibby and ran back, but by that time a skilled conman had robbed Gibby. However, a Japanese man and his daughter approached the counter and offered to buy Gibby's head for ten thousand dollars. Gibby says no, but Sam knocks him out and they accept the offer and return to the RV. The man says that he intends to take him back to his home country, but I guess he eventually ends up in New York and loses him on the subway, where he finds himself during the first season of Game Shakers. just 3 years later anyway season 6 episode 12 is the penultimate episode of the show and wow it starts off weird on icarly's web show the gang performs a parody of what they would be like if they were animated and it's south park what they show. a south park fan animation based on icarly sam breaks into shea's apartment but finds the refrigerator empty, so he starts eating freddy.
Instead, Carly makes Sam vomit on his hand and hits it again, but Sam bites his other hand in retaliation. sings a song about how this is not a nice thing to do, in the live action segment of the webcast, they have a group of guys come and sing a song about spaghetti tacos, but it turns out they're all bums and carly. throws them back out onto the street once the show ends, Sam starts to freak out because he lost his laptop, which he says is the only good thing he has since it was a bad mitzvah gift from Grandma. of the.
Freddie says she's not even Jewish and Sam says. that he told his grandmother that he was going to receive gifts, a moment clearly scripted into the show to clumsily staple the huge continuity problem the writers have made in recent seasons. I wonder what Spencer is doing in this B plot. I was a The player, who is kind, Freddy finally realizes that if they can find Sam's serial number, they can remotely view his front camera and say that the laptop was stolen by an old lady who they start spying on to find out where it is, meanwhile, Gibby does some really unfunny things. spencer wants to win a big stuffed animal at chuck e cheese or whatever, so he brings guppy guppy, who is gibby's little brother, who you'll remember mostly from season three, i gotta pee, you can pee in the ball pit, yes, spencer plays all the games in Gattytown very well while Guppy reads a porn book and something awakens inside him.
Spencer wins the stuffed animal he wants and then they can leave Freddy Fresberas and go get Guppy a massage or something. In the plot, they find out where this old woman is. es and sam breaks down the door and confronts her, however, freddie notices that the laptop doesn't look like hers and they realize that sam clumsily scribbled the serial number on it. Freddy tries to apologize, but he gets hit in the balls and everyone leaves you, uh. you might want to call a doorman oh she said what Sam opens a pizza he left in Shea's refrigerator a few days before and lo and behold that's his laptop how classic okay so we just saw the episode 12 of the sixth season and that.
It means that the next episode is episode 13 of the sixth season. And for those of you who don't know, I'm saying goodbye to the final episode of the original series now, obviously, I want to end this video on the final episode, so what are we going to do? What we're going to do now is sort of recap the season finale. the i crimes and then the finale basically what we did with the last clip of season six is horrible it's not good this season really feels like they're throwing everything against the wall and hoping something sticks, some episodes feel like a tribute to the first seasons that kind of re-energize and others feel like pale imitations that are just disappointing and some other episodes are just inconsequential.
I think the April Fools episode really set the tone for this season because, putting that behind us, you expect there to be a noticeable difference between that and the last 12 episodes of the show, but there isn't. The show has become a parody of itself that feels closer to a literal parody of itself than it did in the first three seasons. I'm very happy. By the way, I watched that episode of Game Shakers because it tells me a lot that the creators of this show had the opportunity to enlighten Icarly fans by watching the best moments of the show and almost all they chose were seasons four, five and six.
They made these kids watch some of the most disappointing Icarly material ever put on screen because, in their minds, that was when the show was great and you often see in the marketing material that image of Gibby holding a duplicate of his own head. used as a representation of what the show was about like it's the funniest joke in the world when it's actually kind of bad and that's why icarly being so obsessed with myself doesn't work for me because it's like, well this stuff is good . because carly is good, carly is great, but carly isn't great, carly sucks because you guys are doing a bad job running the show.
I want to clarify something at the beginning of this video, I mentioned it in the season. 4 a bunch of people who worked on this show left to work on Victorious, but I never mentioned that at the beginning of season 5 almost all of those people were back, which confuses me because I really feel like there was someone working on icarly. at the beginning who got the show and that anchoring perspective is missing at the end, but who could have left because, just like all the same people were working on the show at the end, one thing you've probably already noticed is that the show's writers responded to calls for a shorter season and expanded cast by having not only a and b plots, but also c plots, d plots, e plots and f plots, lots of f plots and what that means.
Even in the episodes that have good stuff, you can't really appreciate that stuff because it's like 4 minutes of firefighter-like stuff. The b-plot is very promising, but it's barely there because it's one of four stories in a 22-minute episode, so while it's funny, they don't get to explore it because they had to make time for a Gibby joke that's a little weird. and cruel, I will say that of the last three seasons, the Jimmy Fallon episode is the best. because it's a complete story, they don't give it away, they don't end the story early and make a fourth wall joke, they don't do a flashback to the second season and make that the solution, gibby shows america his balls and the rest of the episode is a realistic exploration of the repercussions of that, so to me, Gibby showing America his balls is part of the show's golden era.
I think the main saving grace of these last few seasons is Tebow and the thing is, I don't think so. tebow is written really well in the end he basically becomes discount spencer but the tebow episodes really became the material i was looking forward to in the end more than anything else i mean tebow's story in season 5 works better than seti's story and that's something i never thought i would say and as we move towards the final episode i'm curious how they are going to get us back on track and how they could make this a satisfying ending, but before we do, Quickly recap season six's eye crimes.
Now, while editing this video, I realized that I accidentally made a small mistake in season four when I accidentally counted a crime twice and instead of having to go back and re-record each one. The crime bit I thought it would be easier if we went back to the last crime issue and did it again and that was crime number 54. We're in the mid 50s so we'll skip season 6 episode 1 for a Pretty major technicality: the fact that it's clearly not intended to be part of the normal canon. I know it's tempting to consider Gibby assaulting random people with a stop sign as individual crimes, but it's too vague an area for me.
If we start counting things like this, the next thing we know we'll also count cartoon cannibalism anyway in season 6 episode 2, the band One Direction performs with Icarly at the beginning of the episode, Sam briefly punches Zayn and towards the end. after he finishes his performance, she is seen strangling him and dragging him to the elevator laughing as he screams for help. The implication of this moment is that Sam intends to sexually assault Zayn even though he rejected his advances, which is funny because he's a dude and that's eye crime number 54. maybe Sam should be in jail , since maybe that would make the world a safer place.
Crime number 55 is Gibby opening an illegal restaurant inside the basement of his school. Eye crime number 56 is Sam hitting a classmate. student with a pound of butter breaking his arm eye crime number 57 is gibby pushing people in their armpits i'm not sure if this is a crime but it's on my list i crime number 58 is the development of an unregulated laser device that The overload eventually explodes and causes property damage and potentially bodily harm to a child. Eye crime number 59 is Gibby showing 4 million Americans his balls on live television. Now let's talk about things we haven't done so far in episode 9.
The Icarly quartet tried to find Spencer. friends searching various discreet places to meet men, Gibby ends up searching a men's bathroom where he hovers over a stall while a man uses the bathroom trying to convince him to be friends with Spencer, that's eye crime number 60. Gibby then helps another man dry his hands. and receives a tip since he has been incorrectly identified as the men's room attendant, seeing how much money he makes, then takes up permanent residence in the bathroom posing as a restaurant employee and haggles money with customers and small children, He even prepares a kitchen. meatball station that essentially feeds visitors meatballs covered in fecal matter.
I'm going to call this eye crimes number 61 and 62 because there are so many levels to this one and it's just disgusting in the next, the last episode of the show, Sam loses. her laptop and trashes Shea's apartment looking for him, then throws a lunchbox at Spencer, briefly knocking him unconscious, then goes to Freddie's house to look even though she'll probably never go there and kicks down the door, trashing the place, she He also physically attacks Mrs. Benson and tells Freddie that he better come with bandages and a mop, implying that he is now bleeding to death.
I feel like there are definitely four crimes in that paragraph, so let's go ahead and call this eye crime number 66. Sam then commandeers the wonderful milkshake which wrecks the place and physically threatens everyone inside, causing a group of police flee in fear. That's eye crime number 67, and of course at the end they break down an innocent old lady's door and threaten her with committing that eye crime. number 68. So yeah, 68 crimes, wait, wait, it doesn't feel good to stop there and what are you going to do? icarly season 6 episode 13 is another double-length episode that runs for around 44 minutes compared to the usual 22.
What's interesting, though, is that the separate halves of this episode don't really tell a singular story, and in fact, each half actually has a different purpose for existing. The last 22 minutes are dedicated to creating a somewhat satisfying conclusion for these characters and this universe, but the first 22 minutes. are dedicated entirely to creating potential spinoffs that were being considered at the time and this includes meticulous setup for an icarly spinoff that was never greenlit and doesn't exist, so let's go ahead and jump right into this, oh , that's a good decaf, so the At the beginning of this episode, Carly Sam and Freddie are at school and after Sam shows off a back scratcher he made out of a board and nails it, Freddy shows off his new phone, the Max Ridiculously big Pad, get it, Max Pad, Freddy is a girl, that's the joke.
Miss Briggs yells at Freddy in a very brief cameo meant to be an homage to the early seasons. By the way, in the background of the scene we can barely make out an image of Miss Briggs photoshopped onto an animal. This is the same image that Carly had. sent to the detention office for posting at school back in the first scene of the pilot episode, Carly receives an email from her father saying that she will not be able to attend the annual father-daughter Air Force dance being held. Saturday. I'm bummed about this because this is the last year she'll be able to go, I guess that means she's 17 in this episode, meanwhile in the b plot, Spencer is repairing a motorcycle for Sako who will give it to her cousin Ryder as birthday gift.
Sam present enthusiastically joins the project since this same motorcycle is the one she dreamed of having since she was little. Gibby sees the motorcycle and thinks it's an exercise machine. A very strange throwback to the time when he thought it was an exercise machine. a motorcycle in episode 2 of season 6. At that same moment, Spencer receives a call from Audrey, an ex-girlfriend he met in law school, who is the only woman he has ever truly loved, she will have a stopover in Seattle that Saturday and they will meet and have dinner at the airport, something that really excites Spencer, however, when he finds out that Carly is upset about missing her last father-daughter Air Force dance, he offers to take her himself, which which means you will have to cancel this appointment.
With his axe, Lubert arrives with a package meant for Spencer that contains an important part he needs for the motorcycle and Lubert sneezes into Spencer's mouth. Spencer quickly realizes that the parts company has sent the wrong part and, to make matters worse, wakes up the next day fatally. Sick from the germs in Lubert's mouth, Sam takes it upon himself to repair the bike, working through the night and haggling over the missing part with a faceless local mechanic. I do not understand it either. Gibby goes to replicate his head again after the original duplicate of him is sold.
In Las Vegas, he brings Freddie and they have a negative encounter with the store owner, who is repeatedly cruel to his pet weasel. However, Gibby lets himself be strapped into the 3D scanner only for it to suddenly lock while he's inside, meaning he's totally trapped. the freddy machine buys a phone case that looks like a purse but quickly rushes to help gibby carly gets ready to go to the dance but spencer is so sick that he almost drops dead, he rests a little and soon wakes up better, but it's clear After all, he's not taking Carly to the dance.
Sam calls Freddy and tells him that they need to talk about something important, which makes Freddie think that they will get back together. They quickly and awkwardly put the conversation aside for another day and Freddie agrees to help. cheers up carly once the rescue employees have freed the gibster gibby is finally freed and given his duplicate head and the owner says he won't charge him for anything dissatisfied gibby insists on being given the pet weasel and the owner forces to establish a non-existent spin-off of gibby spencer feeling a little better passes on the news that sako no longer needs his motorcycle since he and ryder had a big fight, therefore spencer has essentially been given the bike and decides to give it to Sam, who Ella graciously agrees to let Gibby and Freddie arrive wearing tuxedos and invite Carly to join them at the dance, which only makes her cry more.
She says that she just wants the night to be over and she doesn't want anyone to take her to the dance until that exact moment. moment when her father suddenly arrives, yes, Colonel Shea has secretly arrived in Seattle and is here to take Carly to the big dance they are going to and after the commercial break they arrive home to a random hat party that A flashback to the pilot occurs and Carly tries to think. Of all the exciting things they can do while their father is back in town, however, the colonel has bad news: he will only be in town that night and in just under five hours he will return to the military base where he is stationed in Italy.
It's enough time to watch the first icarly video I made. Carly says that she wishes she could spend more time with him and her father says that she still can. If you come with him and live on the military base in Florence, it will be a great learning experience in a beautiful community abroad and a great way to start your adult life, but leaving means you will have to leave everyone you know behind and finish the icarly web show, however everyone says it's a great opportunity and she has to take advantage of it, so they aired a special unplanned episode of icarly, the last one to exist, where they throwbacks to all of her best parts , baby spencer, the idiot farm girl and the cowboy, you know all the parts from season two because they didn't have anything after that, that was fine, so two quick comments I want to make about colonel shea first of all, I want to mention one final icarly fan theory, um, this is one that occurred to me a while ago, in fact, while I was working on the video above, it was something I thought about that suddenly popped into my head and regardless Whatever happens, I was never able to properly rule out the theory, so it always remained partially canon like in the back of my head so here it is okaybasically the entire basis of this theory the entire basis here is that because Icarly's father is so mysterious and always avoids meeting them and there's never always some excuse that he's not in Town, I came to the conclusion that he was hiding something from Spencer and Carly, so the fan theory I came up with is that Colonel Shea secretly has a second family.
Now I have no evidence of this at all and if you think about it for two. Seconds one two It doesn't make sense, but I still choose to believe in that second. I want to apologize for something when I was working on the script for the first video. I wrote this long part asking how Spencer can. pay for this apartment because it's a really great place and a handful of people told me well, I always thought his military dad just sent him a ridiculous amount of cash and a couple of people commented on that in the original video too, but I always ruled it out because there was no canonical evidence I could find, there were no details about it on the icarly wiki, so you know, I put it aside.
Simply put, this episode directly confirms that that's where Spencer gets everything. of his money it is directly confirmed that Spencer's father paid his entire law school tuition despite Spencer dropping out after a few days and also the fact that Spencer's father still sends him money essentially monthly , so there's the mystery solved. I stand by the fact that I don't think this was the canon intended in the first season. I think the intended canon in the first season was that he was an artist who sold his sculptures and made a modest living from it, enough to afford an apartment despite how That's ridiculous and I think this whole aspect of him You Know He Needed Money To Be Sent To Him was created in the writers' minds when they got bored of the aspect of the story of him being a dedicated artist and instead had him just be a comedian. you know, a crazy over-the-top comedy guy who had no means of making any money and had completely forgotten that he made sculptures in the first place and at that point you know all the jokes about the character turned into you know spencer when you go to get a real job Spencer when you're going to get a job because they had basically completely abandoned the aspect of him being a potential up-and-coming artist in the Seattle area who was really talented anyway, going back to the cheesy ending, so they conclude the icarly's final webcast and sam and carly tell the audience that this is not goodbye forever because icarly will return one day, it's just inevitable carly packs up with spencer and tells him that he was really a great father figure and that he taught her That growing up doesn't mean she has to stop being stupid or creative, they hug and I cry a little.
Carly goes upstairs where Freddie is taking the Icarly set and what are you doing, Freddy, what did you take the lens cap off your camera? the cockpit guard, don't do that man, your shutter is open, you're getting dust on your damn camera, man, you dive, where are you going to keep your camera and lens without the proper protection that both fans have? I need what film club did you go to where you didn't learn that idiot freddie and carly kiss oh how cute sam and carly say goodbye calmly in the elevator and sam gives icarly the sound effects remote control telling her it will make the person laugh or cheer or dance. chance when she needs it, Carly boards her flight with her father and opens her laptop where she watches all the web content from icarly.com, from the pilot to the end, Spencer remembers the robot squirrel she built in the pilot and when she picks it up she catches fire, Freddy returns to his apartment and also returns to the pilot, smiles and Sam gets on his motorcycle and rides away into the night.
He quickly thought that this motorcycle was not working a few hours before this. and sam was only gifted the bike right before i started writing it, which means sam surely doesn't have any kind of vehicle insurance and therefore just shouldn't be driving it, so you know what makes this ours I crime number 69, uh. One night I had a dream while I was walking on the beach with Gibby, a character from the sitcom Icarly through the dark sky, it showed scenes from my life for each scene, I noticed two pairs of footprints in the sand, one that belonged to me and another to Gibby.
After the last scene of my life appeared before me, I looked again at the footprints in the sand and noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the lowest and saddest moments, there were only a pair of footprints, this It really worried me. so I asked Gibby about it, Gibby, you said that once I decided to follow you you would walk with me all the way, but I realized that during the saddest and most troubled times of my life there were only a pair of footprints that I don't understand. Why when I needed you most did you leave me, he whispered, my precious daughter, I love you and I will never leave you, never again, during your trials and tests, when you saw only a pair of footprints, that's when I carried you, so here we are.
I guess it's been about eight and a half months and I finally completed my mission. I finally watched every episode of icarly or at least every episode that existed when I started this project and you know, I have to say, uh, that's a lot. longer than the 100 day estimate I gave at the beginning of all this, when you sit and talk about a TV show for eight hours straight, at some point you have to start wondering if there's anything more left to say that you haven't. already said and the answer to that dilemma is probably no, but I will do my best.
Icarly is kind of fascinating because it's one of the last times I personally remember buying an entertainment phenomenon that was 100 percent cable TV-based. To watch icarly, you had to turn your satellite to a specific station at a specific time and just pray they played an episode that was really good, there were no streaming services that had it, you couldn't buy it on Amazon Prime, you had to. Watch it on TV, and obviously the interesting thing about it is that it's also a show about what was about to make cable obsolete: Internet content beamed into your home, the ability to watch whatever you want on your own time and your own convenience and whatever.
The funny thing is that as the Internet gained power and took over and cable declined, icarly stopped focusing on the Internet and started focusing on itself, as I've said many times, meaning that Icarly became a program on cable television at the same time. By which time cable television had begun to lose its grip on the culture, which ironically means that the 2008 Icarly episodes are far more relevant today than the 2012 Icarly episodes. Icarly will always remain a strange comfort to me, but especially in moderation, it never is. I've never binged this whole show because it can be very, very hard to keep going, but this time I found myself appreciating different things than I remembered as a kid, I mean I really identified with Carly in the end. on this show, I thought she was just a great character that I really liked hanging out with at the end and that's not something you can say about all the Nickelodeon comedies that aired around this time and you know, even at the worst time of this program, even in its most Flemish moment.
I still love Spencer I love Freddy I love Sam I love Gibby I love Tebow I even love Lubert you know a little I mean these characters feel like old friends that I haven't heard from in a long time and when an episode is done well When it's written correctly, when it's not horrible, it can be a lot of fun to check out these guys and see what they're up to now, as I always end up saying at this point, this is what I'm sure many of you at home are anticipating this to be. will become a transition into Icarly's resurgence in 2021.
I mean, it makes sense. I'm sitting here talking about how I love revisiting these characters and it makes me feel good to see where they're surely seeing the modern version. on the show is what I want to do next and you know maybe it is, but often reality can be disappointing because the idea that icarly's story ends in 2012 and picks up in 2021 is a lie we tell ourselves. ourselves so we can sleep at night, what's the point of talking about the nostalgia of icarly's revival with an incomplete cast designed to revitalize a failing network without talking about the first time this happened?
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the next item of icarly media we'll be looking at is not the most recent revival, but the 2013 spin-off, Sam and Cat. However, there is a problem and it's not exactly a problem that bothers me. happy to report on how i can binge and review sam and kat when i'm missing half the context, so next time on quentin's reviews i'll review victorious icarly's sister show. This is going to be a really strange branch of this project for me because it's going to be the opposite of icarly because you know on icarly victorious we're both on the air at the same time, I know for a fact I watched both shows but while I was on icarly I remember 60 of the episodes , I don't remember anything about victorious, I really don't, I mean, I've searched my brain and I have, I remember there were 17 cast members.
Well, I remember thinking it was a bit boring, you know? And that's it. I remember the puppet, but I don't really need to remember the puppet because I see. I see it every time I close my eyes, so yeah, it looks like this miniseries is going to be a little bit longer than most of you probably anticipated, I know I was surprised, so if you don't want to miss the next episode. of this project, I really recommend going to the description and hitting the subscribe button and don't forget to follow me on Twitter, Patreon, Instagram, I have a subreddit.
I'll be honest with you, I've been very lucky. I had the most horrible luck: I lost data, then I sent it to be sent to a repair place and Fedex lost the package, so I was depressed and feeling bad and also kind of collapsed under the weight. Of all the work I've had to put into this video and all the others, so if I get a little love after posting this video, it will be nice, it will be great. You know, I won't shy away from it. from a couple of comments telling me they liked this video, so if you want to send me something like that, you know, hit me up on my social media, that's all I'm trying to say and one last thing I really have, I think two. hours made at least at least two hours of the victorious video and I think it's going to be very long, but the point is that I hope that by the time I post this I will have it almost finished and so on.
If you want to see wow, if you want to see the first two hours of Victoria's video long before anyone else, support me on Patreon, help me reach those stretch goals, help me learn about McDonald's journey and the Garfield video game project. And, I'll try to post the two-hour edition in the next few days. It may already be available. Don't know. I've been leaving reviews and that's all you need.
