The End of iCarly

I'm for those of you who missed our last adventure. Here's a quick recap last time on this channel. One last thing. Before we really get started here and this should be obvious but I just want to make it clear. I won't be covering Icarly's resurgence in this video and that's partly because I haven't really been paying attention to it. I mean, I didn't. I even watched the trailer when it came out. I logged off of all social media to avoid it and I'm basically trying to become a hermit just to stay away from spoilers related to it, but most importantly, as I've said many times and will continue to say that I started working on this project before that they announced the resurgence and, in my opinion, the resurgence does not exist until we get to it.

Let's go ahead and begin our discussion where we left off before icarly seasons two and three are actually a unique case study because despite airing for three years, both seasons were actually one continuous production block that produced much more episodes. faster than they were being. What's notable about this is that they finished filming the season 3 finale long before it aired about 10 months prior and after they finished filming the show took a long hiatus in production, which meant that everyone Those working on the show were randomly given about nine months off despite being at the peak of their popularity.

Of course, I'm talking about 2010's Victorious, which began airing during season 3 of Icarly and even tied into pre-filmed episodes in some pretty clever ways. I could easily make a standalone video talking. about victorious just breaking down the show and how it's similar to icarly but secretly totally different in every way, but the most notable thing that suddenly came up is that you could argue that victorious wasn't just designed to be a sister show to Icarly, but also a replacement, you see, it was learned around this time that Miranda Cosgrove was planning to take a break from acting, not immediately, but certainly soon, her father had apparently asked her to go to college after high school and have some free time to attend. do it properly and this is something she wouldn't have had time to do during the hectic production schedule of the show's first three seasons.

You have to remember that these actors were actually just children and at some point they had to start planning their future. Outside of this silly teen comedy, Victorious was designed to be the next big thing and also to be stuck in a narrative time loop to allow it to last forever, with all the actors on board supposedly fully prepared to make it last longer than Icarly and because was also a star vehicle for someone who was aiming to be a future pop star, it's very clear at this point that Carly was no longer the main interest of the network or the writers despite being one of the most popular things ever made by Nickelodeon, one of the strangest side effects of this all being true is that season 4 of icarly is easily the most average season of the show, it has bad episodes and bad parts, but it feels bad in the same way as something like Full House feels bad, it's not that mean. or bordering on child abuse and that's entirely because after season 3 a good portion of the show's staff left victoriously to work on a much worse show where their talents were arguably put to better use.

I'm going to justify that statement. Okay, just give me time, please. Another side effect of this is that from here on out, each icarly season is exceptionally short. For the first three seasons of this show, the standard was that each season typically had between 20 and 25 episodes, but in the fourth season that number is cut in half. 10 episodes, season 5 has nine episodes and one blooper episode and season six has 13 episodes, one of which is this kind of weird treehouse horror style episode, so discounting the treehouse episode tree of terror and the bloopers episode, there are 31 canonical episodes of icarly.

For reference: season 1 of icarly has 25 episodes, which means that the first season of icarly is almost as long as the last three seasons total, so this might be a disappointingly short adventure for those of you who were completely intoxicated by the absurd length. from my first video, but I guess the only way to know for sure is to go ahead and start. icarly season 4 episode 1 aired on July 30, 2010, just a month after the season 3 finale premiered, although you'd be forgiven for not doing so.
