The Deadliest Service Rifle Ever Fielded by The US Military; The M4A1

Mar 14, 2024
foreigner foreigner thank you if you

ever

missed the background videos, well today we have a little souvenir for you in

ever

y way. It's hard for me to make a video with a

rifle

that is still in active

military

service

and we're talking about the M4A1 right here, it's really hard to talk about the impact this weapon has throughout its

service

, it's been long and although technically The M4A1 is scheduled to be replaced in the future by the xm7 as it stands now as of this video. I think we will see the M4A1 in service for a long time, due to its longevity, the number of upgrades it has had and how effective it has been throughout its

military

service, so today we are going to do our best review of the m401 .
the deadliest service rifle ever fielded by the us military the m4a1
We'll talk about the history, the improvements the M4A1 offered to the firearms world at large, and hopefully you'll better understand the sheer power and perhaps one of the

deadliest

service weapons in existence. Has the United States ever sent anything to help you understand it a little better today in Grantham. Stay tuned, but before we get into the details, of course, we have to think about your channel's biggest sponsor, so the channel's biggest sponsor is the Sonoran Desert. I'm looking to start at Armory, they are the people to go to, we can't thank them enough. There's no Charles here today to spoil it for me and then jump out or something, but yeah, they're awesome, go check them out. "They've been supporting us for a long time, we can't thank them enough and of course we can't forget about the primary arms, if you're looking to get Optics, if you're looking for tons of other cool stuff, go check them out." The one through eight peanut butter compact is now available and we are big fans go check them out big thanks to them if you are looking for dry fire we love the mantis um I can't say enough about the system it can do both things. simulating recoil shows you where your shots are going if you're not dry firing you're probably not doing it right unless you get a billion bullets for free or you're just rich enough to do it but here at Grantham Me or the team Micah um Charles, we especially do a lot of dry fire, it's something you can do in your free time.

More Interesting Facts About,

the deadliest service rifle ever fielded by the us military the m4a1...

Highly recommend, go see Mantis, they are definitely the go to people and unlike the camera this is filmed on the TV. We are seeing this at AAC. The ammo is made in the USA, we love you, we appreciate you very much, in fact, all the ammo usage in today's AAC videos, so go check them out, ladies, gentlemen. I've forgotten, but I certainly haven't. I, Mark 18 mod zeros, welcome to the channel, so before we get into it, we'll do what we always do and that's our full disclosure of what my relationship with Colt is. Nothing, in fact, I don't think Colt knows who.
the deadliest service rifle ever fielded by the us military the m4a1
I don't think they make great guns anymore because they have really fallen behind, however they did a lot in the 90's so we really have to thank them for all the work they did back then, but in any case this

rifle

was purchased by me, the top is actually a completely correct clone. Thoroughbred Armament top. um, they're our go-to for all types of military clone builds. They can find the strangest things. We have an LMT m203, it's a real 40 millimeter m203. The bottom is a real Colt M4A1 marked on the bottom. This is the most correct clone you can get again.
the deadliest service rifle ever fielded by the us military the m4a1
This is all thoroughbred. We have to thank them for, you know, sourcing all the components for us, so with all that being said, let's go ahead and get into this, obviously, I carried the M4A1 for a long time in my military service, so it should be noted that such Maybe I'm a little biased because I carried him for so long and I trust him so much, we have to compromise. credit where credit is due um I'm a guy, I'm not a uh uh expert on employee history, but I've been lucky enough to talk to people who are, so we have to give a big shout out as always.
Thanks to nsw Crane for taking the time to speak with me to explain some of the history they saw in the employee and many of the updates. We have a huge thank you to many of these Socom armors in many different places. units again, these guys can't be named, but I stand on the shoulders of giants where they allow me to talk to them for so long and discuss their ideas on these really important topics and then of course a big shout out to Small Arm Solutions if you're not familiar with this channel, he's an absolute guru when it comes to the history of all things M16 M4 um, he's extremely brilliant.
I have read many of his books, in fact, I read a lot of United States Rifle. The book is very illustrated about the history of not only the M4 but everything, so again, give credit where credit is due. I am very grateful to those men for taking the time to talk to me and posting excellent material on the M4A1, so with all that being said, let's get into details when I first entered the military in 2010, the first rifle they issued to me as the m16a2 used during basic training after that, I never saw an m16a2 um or an M16 in general again until 2018, when I saw Marines, uh, using them.
The Marines always get the old, but you know they do, plus almost everyone in the military, Assa, had an M4 and an M4A1 or some variation thereof, including the block 2 or uregi variants, so in each In the same way, the M4A1 is the primary rifle of the United States military and if you are not familiar with what the M4A1 is, the M4A1 is a semi-automatic safe it shoots a 5.56 by four five, it is cooled by air, uses a direct impact system. Magazine-fed magazines typically hold 30 or more rounds depending on the type of magazine you're holding and it's an incredible weapon that you really saw, it debuted around 1994, although development of the M4 technically began it was technically started by Colt around 1984.
Said This, we have to keep in mind that when it comes to the M4 and the M4A1, there really have been short variants of the M16 for a long time, from the 15 car to the xm177e1s. I would say these have been introduced, the M4A1. perhaps one of the first very successful rifles that was shortened and was successful for many reasons and many of those reasons are taken for granted now because they are so standard on the air 15 which is what we expect but all these small incremental increases in what Reliability concerns that were made to the M4A1 to make it more reliable have spread to the civilian world and with even more developments now, but we really have to thank the M4A1 for making, in my opinion, the AR-15. what it is today, so with all that being said, let's get into a little bit of development history and a couple of things they did on the M4A1 to make it super reliable, so I think the most interesting thing when it comes to the M4A1 is when it first designed, it wasn't conceived to be a frontline troop weapon when they first designed it, they said, "Hey, this is going to be for support troops, it's going to be for the rear Echelon guys, just a lighter rifle ". that can be carried and therefore we need to have maximum parts compatibility with the Bentley M16 rifles, however that is quite difficult because when you shorten a barrel and shorten the gas system, the pressure within the system increases. becomes exponentially larger to be able to have the same receiver extension, the same type of extractor configuration was not really feasible.
So eventually this was changed to a more performance design because very quickly the end user of the M4 changed from Echelon to Special Operations and Elite Airborne units and it was quickly realized that a lot more needed to change to make this a rifle. really cool and what's really funny to me about all of this is that this is not the first time that the United States has made a carbine with the goal of being a rear Echelon weapon where it served on the front, the very famous M1 carbine was made to be a support weapon and yet it found itself very quickly on the front because it is a light and practical weapon and is generally appreciated by soldiers, although this particular type here is nice. heavy, the M4A1 overall is very light compared to the M16, especially compared to many other service rifles out there, so one of the first things to understand about the development of the M4 is that the two main rounds that They were in use by the United States Army, when the US Army was developed, we had the M193, which is a 55 grain projectile, and we have the M855, most of you are familiar with this one, this is the tip round. quintessential green, which really sucks, but since that green tip is going to be the main bullet that was going to be used, the M4, A1 and M4 were designed to be able to use this and the first thing they realized was that the m855 did not wanted to feed the barrel of the M4, this was eventually corrected by changing the angle of the feed ramps as well as the extension of the feed ramps towards the upper receiver with what we now know as the M4 feed ramps, this is now a standard feature on all AR-15s and this was a small increase in the reliability of the rifle. now of course the m85 made it very reliable but when we expanded it to the air 15 in general this is a standard thing that came from the M4 so again the culture engineers really nailed it another problem we ran into was due to The fact that the M4 is a much shorter gas system, much higher pressure as the bolt advanced, it had a tendency to bounce before fully settling, so if you shoot in full auto or in burst of three bullets, what happened was the same. would bounce, that hammer would come out and hit the bolt carrier while it was still bouncing and a lot of the energy would be transferred to the bolt carrier trying to push it forward and then you would get a light hit and that would cause some malfunction by doing this. a slightly less reliable weapon, this was solved with what we now know as the hh2 damping system, which is a tungsten carbide weight with two steel weights that essentially float freely in there, if you shake your head at them you can hear them, that's exactly what they do.
It sounds like that, and essentially what's happening is that as they move forward, the force keeps them back as they move forward on that shock absorber and when that shock absorber, when that BCG moves all the way forward, those weights hit forward and stop. For Bolt to move around so much, obviously there are better systems now, like the A5 Vulture, but at the time it was a big help in real accountability when it came to the M4. Now I remember very specifically in my military career when we were issued an M4, it's great, it's a big deal, but it should be noted that our m4s were very unreliable pieces of junk, so although there was an updated extractor that went with the M4 which was adopted in about 2003. um, the dissemination of those parts of the military, you have to understand that the military is a government entity, there's a lot of bureaucracy, a lot of waste, misuse, mismanagement and all that kind of stuff.
We didn't see those extractor upgrade kits until around 2013. And when we saw them, it was amazing how much better our m4s performed, so essentially the extractor upgrade kit had a different spring and most importantly an o-ring to be able to place that o-ring under the extractor and this would increase the strength. clamping the extractor on that rim four times due to the higher speeds and higher cycle rate on the M4A1, this was huge for reliability, so when we took the M4 feed ramps we took the H and H2 carbine buffers and we take the improved extractors. we have a much more reliable system, all of this is now taken for granted, but you have to understand that this led to a very reliable weapon compared to even the M16 or the previous M4 models and what's really interesting about this is a lot of these upgrades. when they occurred I would say completely change the rifle and yet it was still called the M4A1 so you could get an M4A1 with a lot of the older stuff and have an unreliable rifle or get one with all the upgrades and be done like that it's how the military works, welcome to the government, so at this point we've talked a lot about the development of the M4A1, what I want to do now is talk about what we always do, which will be The slanted stock talks about the entire rifle and talks about the improvements that were made there and some things that were seen in service, so we're going to do what the Navy loves, go from tip to tip, so starting here at the very tip of the M4A1, what What we have is the flash hider for bird cage.
It should be noted that the birdcage flash hider was generally invented back in the Vietnam War, but the A2 Birdcage added the small closed-bottom version to ensure you weren't lifting as much. dust while shooting, although there are much better flash hiders available now, almost all flash hiders are compared to A2, it is considered a standard, if you are worse than A2, you are considered pretty, so is it the best? Not at that moment. It was reallywell and it's still a standard that we all have all the flash hiders too, so the A2 Birdcage flash hider, of course the biggest problem was the suppressor mount.
There are suppressors that work on the A2, like the nt4 and a couple others, but um. It's not the best blocking and it's not the best system. This is of course when rectified in later designs like the Surefire and many others, but the A2 Birdcage now returns to the barrel. The M4 barrel is really interesting for a couple of different reasons. One is that the M4A1 inadvertently ended up with one of the best military guns that was carried over to the Block 2 design, so let me explain what was happening. The M4 was not originally made for front use, and yet it quickly found itself in service.
The same thing happened with different Special Operations forces when they were withdrawing from an area and had to maintain large amounts of fire. So when they withdraw, they normally fire in fully automatic mode, so what was discovered is that these cannons kept exploding right behind the front sight post, here, this is quite common, so common, in fact, Colt went ahead and took a look at it too. like several other companies and what was found was that, according to America's Rifle, when you fired in full automatic mode and fired fairly quickly, usually in about three minutes, you could get the barrel to a temperature of about 1100 to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit at this point, this would alter the metal of the barrel and it would no longer be structurally sound.
This would cause it to explode right in the weakest area which was right behind the front post, so the funny thing about this is that of course they decided to make the barrel a little more robust because there's really not much you can do with the operators, since the magazine ejects the rifles, it's a little bit outside the operating parameters of the M4, but they say, hey, let's see what we can do to naturally strengthen them from behind. the barrel and invented what was later called the socom profile barrel. The socom profile barrels are extremely strong and the blast problem was actually fixed, but what's really interesting about the socom is that inadvertently it also had very good harmonics, so a bullet travels downward. the barrel that Barrel is going to flex is going to whip, so harmonics are very important. the socom Barrel had very good harmonics obviously the newer barrels are much better with these newer Contours but at the time the socom is pretty good and this was a very accurate rifle and a very sturdy barrel that could hold many rounds , so when it came to probably the best service rifle ever used, the block 2 with that Socom barrel and the best rail, you had a phenomenal rifle, but when it came to the M4A1, it was a huge improvement, but the funny thing it's just that like a lot of things in government and M4A1, not every M4A1 would have a Socom Barrel, they didn't actually change the nomenclature so that was nice. luck of the draw but a lot of the newer m4a's you are seeing that are deployed with the army have silk in the barrels so an interesting little note in regards to the development of the barrels now as far as En As for the length, I could talk at length about this here, so when it comes to barrel length, here comes the autism, um 14-5, why was 14-5 decided on as the barrel length for the M4?
I have heard many different accounts of why this occurred according to nsw Crane, it really depended on the operators and what they found was that the M16 is obviously a very quiet weapon and very pleasant to shoot. Nice not being suppressed it's a very nice gun to shoot when you've got it down to 10-3 for me due to a fire 10 triples inside uh it's not fun so they found that the 14-5 overall was a good intermediate type, it was not too noisy and was short enough to be easily maneuvered through buildings and was ultimately decided upon by the length of the barrel.
Because it could now be incorrect, things may be lost for a while, but this is according to several different sources. Take it as what might be strange the 14-5 also has pretty good ballistics, pretty good velocity for 556 rounds so it's a good middle ground and ended up being a wonderful barrel length when it comes to the 5.56 projectile. Now, when it comes to accuracy, the M4A1 is not free floating. design, you can also add free-floating rails, which we'll talk about. Generally, the military wants about a three to four MOA weapon. I found with soaked barrels and good ammo, like L 77 grain black, that you could usually make about 1.5 to 2 MOA. with a good shooter, obviously more modern AR-15s have been designed to shoot much better, but the M4A1 was really good for its time and still is now.
This video is brought to you by manscape.com, a global brand that is revolutionizing The Grooming Community. Now the funny thing about manscaped is that I've actually used manscape long before I was approached to do that, so when they ask me, hey, do you want to make an average manscape?, and I was like, yeah, I want to make an ad. for manscape. They are at the forefront of men's hygiene and grooming and I love the 4.0 performance package, probably one of the best packages men can get for the best hygiene and grooming experience and they say, but I still have the answer.
I'm going to talk about it, but anyway we have the 4.0 lawnmower right here, let's talk about it a little bit now. This 4th generation electric clipper comes with ceramic blades that way you will always get a nice even cut and plus it can be easily changed and replaced so you can get them on the manscape.com website plus it has an LED light , so if you're not sure where it's going, you can find it because you don't want to get lost there too with the performance package, you get the weed trimmer, this is for trimming the nose and ears, if you really want to put together the whole package, guys, Trimming your hair and nose hair will really elevate you, so go to manscape.com and get 20 off plus free international shipping when you use the code thumb 20.
Come in and check again, it's 20 off plus free shipping with the thumb code 20. Alright, let's go back to the video now, obviously, we move on to right here we have a gas block on the front sight post, um, these are older, it's a thing of the past, but we have a bunch of m4s, so Therefore, the front sight remains, it is very strong if you did not have the correct grenade launcher. here of course you can mount the bayonet on it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that except that it takes up that space on the rail when you have extended rails for where you normally want to put your thumb for guys that are between five foot ten and six foot two, so that's the only annoying point about that, we'll talk about that when we talk about various improvements that we made of the units, but it's what's going back from there that we have. on this particular M4 there is a CAC rail so this is very typical, most m4 and

m4a1

were upgraded with CAC rails.
The M4A1 has always suffered from a real space issue and you can see it clearly here with a gun that is configured solely so that the rail space you have is only for the receiver on the back of the front sight post and doesn't leave much. room to mount the accessories you normally need, so most soldiers would normally mount a light on their weapon. I need a PEC 15 or an A or a pec2 depending on what bug you're on so these are for night vision use and then the white light is for of course daylight building searches or searches nights, so with those two additions it's a little tricky where to put the pressure pads and not to mention if you have a grenade launcher there where you put the site, are you using the top mounted site or using an offset site?
The point is it's always been a problem on the M4A1 so we'll talk about a couple of solutions before we talk about our setup so in our setup here you can see I have the pressure pad for the PEC 15 uh just gorilla stuck there, so Gorilla Glue along with super glue will create a very strong bond against the metal. You see them on a lot of old 416s. This is an Old Navy SEAL trick that I'm sure they learned from someone else, but I stand on the shoulders of giants, so there we have it. I have the light pressure pad here tucked into the rail.
I'm using velcro along with that super glue, so the idea is that if you need to activate your backpack, it's pretty simple, beep, beep and then if you need to activate your light, boop boop. die, that's how we have those two set up there, so with that being said, let's talk a little bit about some of the improvements that we saw in different units, so I can only talk really intelligently about the War aspect, um, being that that's where served, but depending on what unit you're in, whether it's an Asos or especially a lot of the peer rescue unit rqs, basically, if you're carrying an SDS in urethane Air Force Special Warfare, you were relegated to an M4A1 and it kind of came down to the unit in terms of how they upgraded them or the armor, how they wanted to work with those units, so what you ended up seeing was a lot of units using unit funds to buy various upgrades for your M4A1, so right here.
We have a fairly typical upgrade that would have been done on an M4A1. It's almost a direct clone of a rifle I had on one of the Asos, so it's nothing unusual and you actually see a lot of these rails in use. of several pairs of rescue units, so when we talk about these rails, you can see that we are finally, so when it comes to these rails, you can see that we are extending beyond the front sight posts and we can get that rail. All the way to the end. Why this is good is when you have those lights and those pecs further back like we do on the M4A1 right here.
What happens is that you are going to take Shadow out of your barrel which will block where you are. The light going to hit could be a potentially fatal situation also for the PEC 15's off illuminator for night vision, so by being able to move those lights away you don't have that shadow which makes it a much more effective weapon. system here we have a Troy rail, I'm not a big fan of Troy, but a lot of these rails were used because they were really good for what they were, they were very easy to install a lot of the time these units You have to reverse the gun to its original setup when you get an Armory check because they hadn't really figured out how they wanted to use the weapons in the past, so we had these, you also see a lot of different rails, like Like CAC MRE, we have one of those thoroughbred ones.
We will post a photo here. You should also know that several Ergo extensions were used. I saw them used a lot by different Marine Corps recondominium units and MARSOC, so again everyone. was running into this issue where they had an M4 that they wanted to upgrade to block 2, but the system hadn't been fully implemented, so again a lot of workarounds were created to fix a rifle that was really good, but it was a bit short due to rail space, so again you saw a lot of interim issues being done by various units before they were issued block 2 rifles, especially when it came to special warfare if you're not familiar with the block. 2, think of the Mark 18 or the very common 14.5 variant.
Basically they took an M4A1 with a couple of upgrades and added a Daniel Defense rail which in my opinion was a super heavy rail, one of the best battle rifles ever. been deployed by an army uh the rails were extremely strong and along with the m they all floated freely in the socom barrel you had a very accurate weapon system that could fire for a long period of time it was amazing but many guys didn't understand it. they had them in their hands for a while, so you saw a lot of mixing and matching, so I talk about the block programs, you have a block one and a block two, so when it comes to block one, it's essentially the different types of components, the different types of um Optics and wet lights and lasers that you can mount on your rifle, the block 2 program came a little later, around 2012, and added much more improved parts, so again the military, being military, the block 2 system was implemented, we had a lot of these cool optics coming in the future like the Elkin Specters, they had cooler eotechs, they had PEC 15 and cooler lights, however the guys would get these accessories without getting Block 2 rifles therefore run towards what is called a Block 1.5 even though Block 1.5 is not actually in the actual designation, it denotes that the Block 1 M4 is equipped with many Block 2 attachments.
This It was extremely common. The most common thing I saw was with Air Force Security Forces running

m4a1

s with many components of theblock 2. like comp comp m4s PEC 15s or le5uhps, so it's a very common problem in the military, um, it's just the way life works sometimes, so when we talk about some of those older lasers, we have like a two pack here, much larger, many of these older ones. type of configurations, this is a brand 18 mod 0. The point is that a lot of different things were done with the M4 during that time, so I've talked about it at length because I'm super autistic, but going down we have the right m203. here the m203 is one of my favorite grenade launchers.
I understand that the m320 is a better grenade launcher in every way, but it doesn't have the vibe that the 203 has, which is why the 203 mounts on the Silicon Barrel or earlier barrels. Nice cutouts right here, this is an older mounting system. I wanted to show you this. Nowadays many of the m4's have a quick release system. It's pretty easy to install and uninstall the m203, so check out the m203 right here if you want to jailbreak it. If you want to upload, we have this version right here. Press that to open it, you can load it up and you can go ahead and close it and you'll be good to go.
The problem is that if you have a really long time. round, you can only insert one round as long as the M23 can open, so the 320 actually opens to the side, so we can use many different rounds, so the 320 is a better grenade launcher, but it doesn't look as great now that we have. the safety here on the m203 if you put it up and down on the arm desk, wouldn't it be cool if it just fired one right there? How do you point it out? There are a lot of different methods. We have a ladder site that can go to the top. and it is used in conjunction with the front sight post or we have some fancy ones right here, this one is from Knights Armament and many thanks to them for providing it for this video and what you do is you can aim by putting up to the distance you want to shoot, so yeah your target is at let's say uh we'll say 200 we'll put it at that 200 mark right there and then you'll look across that spot until it's level and you can see the dot on the target and that will tilt your 203 perfectly there's a little bit of zeroing that comes into play and again, different types of shells will fly a little differently, but overall it's a very accurate system that most guys I know tend to use.
The ladder looks right at the top, but I wanted to show you a couple of different options when it comes to the m203, so backing up from there, which would be considered typical, but the timing wasn't, so we have the M4A1 upper receiver here . Talking a little about the bolt, the M4's bolt is pretty good, like the typical M16 with an improved extractor now seen on all AR-15s, but at the time the M4 stands out for having very long service. life, so the M16 would take a shot of around 25,000 or even more shots, depending on the firing schedule, this is unknown, if you are unloading magazine every day in full auto mode, both will not last as long and Neither of them will last that long.
Could it be its barrel, but with the M4 it would normally be between twenty thousand and twenty five thousand shots before a bolt would break? This was considered pretty incredible by the government, which only required six thousand shots before a bolt would last, so when many Initially, Colt and several other manufacturers, such as LMT, made upgrades to make the bolt even stronger or better , but they were rejected by the government and said, "Hey, this is already over six thousand. This is incredible, obviously, since we have entered the global war on terrorism and you have seen many more bolt breakages due to intense firefights and the level of environmental tea is much higher.
These designs have been implemented and you see many newer and more forward-thinking bolt designs that Look, I'm not going to talk about all of them other than to say, it's interesting to look at what they do. was considered acceptable versus what was the reality once the wars occurred, in any case the M4 is pretty easy on your bolts even by my current standards we obviously know that when we move to a medium length gas system the bolts can last even longer, but when you get down to the really short weapons, like the earlier Mark 18 mod zeros, they were incredibly hard and bolts and would normally break them in about six to seven thousand rounds, so the M4 is a pretty robust system. , so going down from there, we have the charger, so we use your typical stenagnags.
These work very well as long as you have good followers. In them, probably one of the best things we've seen about the M4 system in general was the Magpul anti-tilt follower, which has done more for the reliability of the M4 or M16 preferences than any other invention, so here we have an Ok, Industries because they are super. Ok Magazine has a Magpul anti-tilt follower and this has been absolutely phenomenal. You saw a lot of these mags back in the day taped up, for a few different reasons, one was you could add a loop of string, this would be an old Magpul before Magpul was a thing because a lot of those older pouches, the Alice ones or what, they had the magazine set pretty deep in the pouch, so that in the little loop that you could grab and pull out the magazine was very useful nowadays, we have all these high velocity pouches that you need, but if you don't want to do that, the tape which is actually 69.69 from 3M, adds a bit of grip. the magazine and it's also a way to mark the magazine yourself or mark different types of ammunition so now we have the magazines right there obviously there have been a lot of updates and a lot of different magazines have been designed another big one of course. was the Magpul magazine itself, they were eventually adopted by the Marine Corps and did a lot to improve the lethality of the weapon, which is why a lot of the Marine m4s you see are running these 10 P Nags, it's a very Marine Corps setup. right there and they are absolutely wonderful so with all that being said let's go ahead and do what we always do we're going to go ahead and shoot together so on this particular guy we have a super select Geisley fire that is a real military shooter um, it's just a Geisley SSA that's super fun because it goes into Super Fun mode, so let's go ahead and try that, let's go ahead and double check that way, it's going to burn through the roof right here and let's point that out. trigger, let's feel a little bit of play, I feel like it resets right there, it's a good trigger and we can't show the other mode because let's make, let's make rules, but um, the guys and the trigger are amazing, the standard M4 trigger is not so Well.
It typically requires a five to six pound pull, but you saw a lot of male triggers being used within Socom within the different Special Ops worlds, so a pretty common DC upgrade that you would see on these rifles and a very welcome for a moment, um. We'll talk about the optics right here, so obviously in this 1.5 block we have an elkan inspector, it's a single power or a four power optic, it's cool and it was really cool for its time, now it's 100 outdated, but um. I still have a very soft spot in my heart for them and then of course we have the typical Matec.
Many different sites were used depending on who issued them to them, so as a quick note on the early m4s that did. has carry handles compared to the M16, its adjustments only went to 600 compared to the 800 and the m16a2 due to the fact that the barrel was shorter, its bullet did not go as far as a quick and interesting little note, now more Beyond the moose inspector he made. I see a lot of optics that were normally seen on the M4, so of course you had EOTech, so they were big. This is one of the older models of the 512 and were seen very frequently.
Obviously it's a newer manufacturer, but still the point. Another one you saw was, of course, the ACOG. Now this one is on a Unity Riser, it's super cool and high speed, but on the m4s we had we had a Su-237 that was essentially a tan ACOG that had a top. I mounted RMR type 2 and then moved it to iron sights on the left side. I'll show a picture right here of one of my service rifles and they were pretty impressive. Acogs are great, so we'll show it off here. the mark 18 mod 0. This is again a cult lower M4, but you can see we have the older grip right here.
The old A2 grip is not a big fan, in my opinion there are much better grips and they are easily changed. and these were usually changed on all the rifles I saw we had in our unit. It works, it's what's now moving back from there. I want to talk a little bit about receiver extension now that we have the older one. M4 rear sock here and we have a mix here because we have an A5 Volter system so the A5 voltage system is a rifle link system that allows for better recoil control when it comes to lower types or just to ensure that the Bolt lasts. a little more, but when it comes to our M4 in general, a big improvement you saw was a lot of people wearing these old Sawmod socks here now, this is a stock B5 here, they're awesome, we have apartments here on the side that allows you put batteries in there or Skittles or you know whatever you need to survive, so that's the general setup.
You see, like one of my service rifles, I changed the grip to a much better angle. one of the Magpul grips and they are amazing on the back, here we have one of the beauties, the old beauties that you would see for the hooks on those older slings and essentially you have your M4A1 man, it's so hard to sum it up. m401 in every way affected the design of the AR-15, um, the super reliable, you know, BCM or Geisley, uh, you know, the gun you have now owes a lot to the M4A1 and all the improvements they made to the M4A1 , probably compared to so many.
The service rifles that the United States field is probably one of the

deadliest

, this is due to many factors, this is due to the optics it can mount, this is due to the maneuverability, this is due to the widespread use of the M4A1 and block 2, which later. evolved into their GI, many could argue that it is a different rifle at the time, but it has seen a lot of action over the last 22 years and we will probably see more action in the future as the world continues to fall apart, so when we talk about M4 we are talking about a phenomenal rifle, a very reliable system, a very useful weapon, a very simple weapon to shoot and, most importantly, a weapon that tends not to recoil, very easy to control, a great rifle to put into use. hands of a general. military strength and especially when you put it in the hands of a very trained and skilled operator who can control the recoil even better, you have a very, very effective weapon in every way, the biggest obstacle for the M4 has been the length of the barrel.
The M16 was originally designed with a 20-inch barrel. The 556 relies heavily on velocity to be lethal, so when it came to the M193 and M855, those rounds performed very poorly in the Implore and you saw a lot of reports about the ineffectiveness of this particular rifle. or even from the M16 with the m855 when the global war and Terror started and as different rounds were developed for anything from Mark 262 to Mark 318 and all the different rounds that you saw out there, the 70 grain soft rounds, the TSX rounds, especially like us. Now we have adopted a new round, which is the m855 alfa, so with these rounds they have increased the effectiveness of these 14.5 guns.
What used to be a problem with these newer rounds is no longer a problem and you have a very effective and lethal weapon system. I can't say enough good things about the M4, obviously there are much improved versions. We have the block 2, now we have the UR GI and I'm sure we will have something else that is an AR variant before the xm7 really gets its foothold in the military if it does. I hope you really enjoyed my autistic talk about the M4 and M4A1. It is one of my favorite rifles. It looks great and really holds a place near and dear.
In my heart for the amount of time I have spent with it both in the military and without the military, we owe a lot to this weapon. I hope you enjoyed this as always. I'm going to say something I don't know. No matter what rifle you have, please try anything, have one that is reliable and train more, now we never need men of strong moral character to train and be ready for no particular reason, so go out, train, prepare. I appreciate you very much and now we have nothing more for you. Last thing for you, that advice, so there is no greater form of rebellion right now than having a family and raising children, so go out and do it.
