The CANCELLED Incredibles script we will NEVER see

Mar 06, 2024
The Incredibles is my favorite Pixar movie of all time, and while I think they've made better movies overall, it's the one I enjoy the most. It juggles interesting concepts, incredible characters, and a great story that gives us something that stands out. the test of time and something that remains to this date in my mind at least the best superhero movie now, after the release of Incredibles 2, I took a look at what the movie could have been and after rewatching Incredibles recently to a cast of fans I saw. deleted scenes and interviews with Brad Bird where he discussed the original plan for the first film and, like any other film, with recuts and discussions before we could see what we did on screen.

Now originally, The Incredibles was scheduled to start very differently. They still had the same idea that Bob and Helen hid, but at this point they only had Violet Brad Bird. I wanted to start at a traditional American barbecue and slowly reveal that they were superheroes, meaning there are no precursors, they are not shown in their glory days, but just a normal family showing up at a barbecue they were new on the neighborhood meeting people a traditional family assuming they too are new to hiding their identities, Bob helps out by cutting meat and we see Helen being treated differently for staying home with the kids eventually that turns into her defending herself throwing away my best years following a group of snotty kids no thanks hello I want to do something with my life wait a minute are you considering starting a family nothing do you have any idea how much suffering that would be?

More Interesting Facts About,

the cancelled incredibles script we will never see...

They can't take root if more people were just good parents, how about we risk my life? How about we confront evil daily for years so people like you can sleep safely? Would you consider that type of work to be substantial? Well, that's the Job I left for my new job raising a family and no one is going to tell me it's less important. What the hell did you use to do? Then Bob reveals that he's not like everyone else and then tries to hide it. Oh oh, wait, we can. Don't wait, I'll take him, I'll take him, you don't even know where the hospital is, right?

Obviously there are different voice actors here but you can see that the amazing style of humor and that little interaction afterwards shows the relationship well but what happens next is the real change in the movie yeah what is it? I think i found it. We hear a noise that night in the house and then see a familiar face. What did you take the money that my grandmother gave me? that grandma how great she has syndrome now the syndrome was not a friend, she did not have a backstory, rather here, she is just a villain from the past who escaped from prison, she is not the character we know and love, in reality, she was planned not to be seen again. in the movie and the best part is that they don't even know I've escaped, but you'll be back inside before they do.

The syndrome sends Bob destroying the house until Helen bursts into the action. Oh no, elastigirl, you married elastigirl and had a Boy, it's a whole family of supers, now we have a very similar version of this that ended up in the final movie, but I really love this slow reveal of Violet and the fate that It prevents them from walking down the hallway. Now I really enjoy this. scene, but the main takeaway is that Syndrome was

never

supposed to be the main antagonist, he was supposed to be a one-off villain similar to Bon Voyage. Now this is just a cold opening of the movie, but you can see where the clues are being placed. and how things would be different, the original villain was

never

supposed to be syndrome, he was actually supposed to be a character named zarik, but after seeing the scene and showing it to the Pixar producers and directors, everyone actually responded to syndrome , so they changed it.
Zarek, the original villain, was supposed to be very different, he was much more similar to that Lex Luthor or that Dr Doom style of villain, the cold and calculated genius villain, he was supposed to have a very unhealthy obsession with Helen and, in fact, he dated her in the past, which would have brought a very different angle to this plot, now they were also going to make changes such as a pilot who was an old friend of Helen's who would have died in the plane crash or an extended scene of Dash in the living room. classes. terrorizing his master, but nothing comes close to Zarek and how he was originally created to be the villain, now this would have leaked into the entire plot and really would have resulted in a completely different movie, that dynamic on the syndrome level really sets everything up that plot so you can't just insert zarek in there now what i want to do here is something i used to do in the past long before fan casting i used to give my own vision of a plot and what it could have been if they had done it continued with this, so here is my opinion and what I would have done with the story if this was the opening scene.
Now it's worth noting that I'm deliberately trying to distance myself from the original plot and, although some plot points are the same, I want to build. a story that is interesting, dynamic and emotional, but I also know that it probably won't be better than the original. Still, let's take a look at this different world. We still have Bob Helen and Violet in Syndrome with him set up as the character who was originally said to be an opening act to set the scene now after the scene we fast forward a couple of years later and now we have the family, the young woman we saw was invisible is now a teenager and Bob and Helen are obviously

script

ed. and jack jack, the rest of the plot is a bit like the original bob stuck in his ways, but he finds himself performing superhero acts again, but instead of being called to the belly of the beast by the syndrome, he saves people from burning buildings, finds his footing and

will

eventually take it upon himself to put the suit back on on his own merit, but instead of making this Bob's show, I want to focus a little more on Violet, that girl he actually opened with this movie.
I want to focus on her a little more and expand on that wonderful arc she had in the first movie her insecure nature finding her confidence is something I don't want to change which I want to double down on I also want to focus on Violet and Bob's relationship and how she is kind of dumb heads and I actually want Violet to be the one to realize that Bob is a superhero again and instead of confronting him like Helen, she would act passive aggressive towards him, causing further distance in the relationship. Now this would develop until Bob got involved.
In a situation that was published on the news, when Helen sees the story on the news, she sees how Bob is captured and we see a very familiar face, her ex-boyfriend Zarik, when he comes home, the children run around saying that They need to save dad. Helen sits them down and explains to Eric how he is beyond genius and how it is a past fling of his. There are flashbacks of Helen in the relationship where we see the toxic nature of it and as she explains what she is not telling him. Kids, we understand that Zarek wasn't the most loving boyfriend, that she left the relationship without him knowing, and in fact went into hiding shortly after she alludes to him being so obsessive that Bob was probably kidnapped to get her back.
Helen knows that she is walking. falls into a trap but has no choice then this plays out much like the movie, helen goes alone but the kids are stowaways they head to an island and they get to a point where they are rescuing bob as a family, they grab bob and while they leave zarek interrupts them on the way out and knocks them down one by one focusing on bob and punishing him with pleasure helen seeing the pain they are causing her family finally submits and screams leave my family in peace I'll stay with you just leave them where zarek turns to her and says I'm not here for you I'm here for my daughter and she turns and looks at violet violet looks at her parents and back at zerrick zarrick finishes off the family and puts They are returned to their limitations, then he takes Violet and sits with her.
We see Zerick, who is calm, kind, and understanding. He is trying to play on the side of the relationship that Violet has been losing with Bob. She understands. He takes her around the island. shows what life would be like if she stayed with him now we see the similarities in appearance bob and helen jack jack and dash are all blonde and redheaded, while violet has straight dark black hair, very similar to her father's eric, since Violet does this, we return to the family that has imprisoned Helen sits there in silence while Bob tries to explain the story to rush towards the end of the superhero's days.
Bob was called to a case that turned out to be Helen and Zarek return to Helen and Zarek in the middle of a dispute one that leaves Helen on the ground and an inch from death, Bob comes in and saves her at the last moment, he fights Zarik and, just like in the first scene of the film, he hears Violet in another room, a matchstick cut from Violet's face when she was a baby. Violet with Zarik we see Violet completely comfortable for the first time in the film, where she was once worried and scared, Saric is helping her control her powers, she is not afraid of them, she is allowed to explore them and she feels liberated, reduced to a defeated one.
Bob and Helen Bob lower their heads as Dash shouts that she is still my sister and vibrates so quickly and breaks free of her restraints that she releases her parents and they run after Violet, interrupting them and exchanging words. Violet becomes conflicted. Stand still, Bob runs towards her as Zarek quickly puts him in her place. Violet is upset and you can see it, but she doesn't do anything. Bob by sheer power of

will

overpowers Eric, but Zarek just throws more at him and he keeps breaking free and eventually gets more. more thrown towards him, he is collapsing, we see Bob visibly in pain, where he begins to talk to Violet, he tells her that he may not be her father, but that she was the best thing that has ever happened to him.
We see flashbacks of Helen in a hospital. in bed while Bob has Violet in his arms, he goes on to say: Well, Zarek hit him again, not only did he become a father as we see him and Violet in these flashbacks during the night with Violet sleeping on him, him smiling, giving him a bottle. and he found love and a life with helen and he would be nothing without them and as he gets caught up in everything that eric is throwing at him, we see a force field appear. Violet smiles at Bob at her mother and on the board she frees herself and at this moment we see her powers in full force, she floats freeing everyone and getting rid of Zarek.
Violet goes down and hugs her family and looks at Bob and tries to say something and Bob stops her and just says, I love you now, obviously, I changed this quite a bit. I kind of tried to turn it into a dynamic of a father-daughter story and explore that purple story a little bit more than the original. Now don't get me wrong I don't think this is even close to the original story better because honestly it's perfection but this is my opinion if they had chosen xeric let me know if you liked my version of this and let me know if would you like to see something similar.
