The BMW M2 CS - Is It Really That Good?

Mar 20, 2024
now you can find me on roadster, the app that connects people through cars hello everyone, today i'm driving the bmw m2 cs winner of evo's 2020 car of the year, the best m car in over a decade according to johnny lieberman and a car that chris harris thought "It was so

good

that it did something very few journalists do. He bought one so it must be

good

. The ingredients needed to make the m2c would certainly make you think that because what we have here are essentially the big boys successes of a BMW from the beginning. We have the s55 twin-turbo, three-liter inline six, as seen in the competing m3 and four, produces 444 brake horsepower, 405 pound-feet of torque, approximately 550 newton meters and is available with a box automatic or manual transmission, the car being 7 speeds. dct and the manual, since we have here a beautiful short throw six-speed element, the power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels, the cars also received some carbon fiber, a beautiful bonnet, like on the m3 cs, several pieces inside, like this door handle, the transmission. tunnel the roof and lip at the rear this was also the only m2 to receive adaptive dampers and was made in very limited numbers the m2cs was always intended to be a relatively low volume car, just over 2000 were planned, however , the events of the last two years meant that the Leipzig plant was unable to produce as many as they had hoped.

I'm told that in total only around 100 cars reached UK shores, of which this is one of 33 manually equipped examples it also has. the very desirable and quite expensive carbon ceramic brakes, so in terms of excuses this car has very few, they have already started to go up in price and unsurprisingly the manually fitted ceramic cars are the most desirable. This one is finished in Mizano blue, the i color. I think it actually looks pretty good on it with some

really

nice gold rims. I want to say a big thank you to the owner of this car, David, for taking it out.

More Interesting Facts About,

the bmw m2 cs is it really that good...

He's a bit of a BMW fan because he also has a 1 million car that I still have. However, for me, getting my hands on the M2 has never been a car that has tremendous presence, but I think the CS does the best job of all. We can talk about some more boring stuff in a moment, but I'm sure you're as interested as I am in whether this thing

really

is that good, so it's an angry little car and that's got quite a bit of personality, in fact the steering is quite Strange, not much feedback. or texture that is transmitted through the steering wheel, but it has this very strange feeling of not wanting to be afraid of the dead people in front of it.

It feels like you are constantly on a very banked road, but in reality you are not. The pace is certainly healthy when the original M2 came into the picture. There was one major criticism: many felt it didn't really have an engine worthy of the m badge. Those early cars were powered by a lumpy n55 that was still tuned specifically for the m2, but it wasn't a full engine. Fat bmw s powertrain for m2 competition bmw fixed this because they gave the cars the s55 engine found in the m3 and m4. This has an evolution of the same engine and I must say that it is one that I was never particularly fond of.

I'm in love with it for two reasons, first, it never makes a nice noise. This one doesn't really make much noise from the outside, you can almost hear it, but it's not particularly pleasant, however, due to the way BMW handles these things essentially as two. Three cylinders sounds pretty unpleasant if you try to put some kind of fruit flavored pipes in it. I also didn't like it because particularly in the early cars it was quite pointy, this is something BMW recognized because with each successive generation of the m3 the power increased but they also smoothed out the delivery making them a much more car friendly. drive.
Speaking of which, I currently have this car in its m1 configuration, which is what David recommended to check it out. There is also an m2 button. If you don't know, they are essentially shortcuts for suspension, steering and engine settings. Interestingly, it doesn't have the suspension set for comfort despite living in Scotland where the roads are quite rough and bumpy, it does in the sport. both m1 and m2 with the other settings in sport, also, I'm going to change things a little, I'm going to put the steering in its sport setting and I'm going to put the suspension in comfort because I think that can improve things, let's see if it is so, it's definitely the fixed steering, sport plus, it's just strange, sport absolutely fine and the comfort is lighter again, the suspension also feels much better, much more flexible, the difference between comfort and sport doesn't seem to be that.
Dramatic with the suspension, let's put it in full fat sport plus bone and you can certainly feel the edges of the road a little more, put it in comfort and it's just smoothing things out a little for me. I would always leave this car in comfort. The sport plus mode for the engine does the job quite well. I'd probably prefer one of the softer settings. Let's try a sport mode. You don't have a normal mode. You only have efficient and sporty sport in addition, the car is on the mission. pilot super sports, which surprised me because I thought Michelin was phasing them out.
I was hoping this would have just come in pilot sport 4 or maybe even cup 2. oh this pulls hard and actually seems to want to go for that red line, not something you always find on these cars, the auto does an automatic flashing for you, personally I'm not a fan of that, I prefer to turn it off and just enjoy curing my toes, the brakes are a little hard but very progressive, oh damn, and when you ask for them, they They'll give you everything, these are some serious anchors, let's take a few moments to talk about some of the more boring parts, so on the inside of the front BMW, we've done some little things to try to make this car feel like a touch more market and I guess they have somewhat succeeded with the nice little cs script here that you also found in the m3.
I actually quite like the bits of carbon lifting it up, although it's a shame that, as with almost all other German cars. Out there, the inside is black, I mean everything in here, it's a little unforgiving. You just have these little bits of tree glory stitching and seat belts to lift things up, a little bit of red stitch down here and that's it. I don't like that the armrest seems to disappear, that seems like an unnecessary weight saving and the card actually feels quite small. One of the criticisms I always had of the old m2, particularly the comparison, was that once they put the m3 engine in despite it being a much smaller car, it actually weighed the same, it's usefully lighter than an m304 by about 50 kilos, at least these ceramics can apparently save about 22 kilos, which means that this car actually weighs surprisingly close to the curb weight quoted by BMW. a website Actually, I know I weighed one of these equipped about this and it tipped the scales at just six kilos more than what BMW said 1556 of them would weigh, in case you wanted to know the visibility is pretty decent, although the only thing I really have forgotten is how small the two series feel inside this car.
It also suffers from another quirk common to both series: the seats are actually twisted inwards. This was apparently a very inexpensive way to solve some crash safety issues, whether true or not. Don't know. I really know, but that's the story I was happily told. These seats, which I think are also unique to the CS, certainly in two terms as standard, are really nice, they support you very well, they are also very comfortable and, in fact, they are as good as I am. I think you could expect to now see how the car handles in this same section.
I started out having fun but with comfortable suspension and sport steering instead of sporty and sporty, plus I think it's probably the most lateral car I've ever owned. a review, I'm not inclined to that kind of thing, but the car felt super progressive, really easy, very entertaining, makes you feel like a hero, it's not scary when it does it, I've said it in its mdm mode, which is which allows. Did that and everything felt incredibly intuitive. This is something you know, this car, other boring things, well, fuel economy and let's not talk about that because you will have fun when you drive one of these trunk spaces. any other series and also the back seat space is ok.
I love the fact that these, unlike the newer m3 and m4, still have that beautiful carbon fiber strut up front and I understand why people are so taken with these. I only have one problem with the whole package other than the boring interior, but it's an entry level German car, what did you expect? That's the price. When they were new they were around 75 grand, over 80 if you spec the carbon ceramic and now paying close to 90 to get something like this, is it worth it, that's the tough question right?, that's the question really, very difficult. I don't think I would pay that kind of money for a car like this if you want something that is more usable on a daily basis, the new m3 can be had for pretty much that and it's a good thing, in fact I prefer it to the old car for that kind of outlay .
I'd end up buying an F type or something, but that's not the same as saying it's not worth it, the true measure of how much the car actually costs you is just the difference between the price you buy it and the price you sell it for. less, naturally, what you have spent between these are still more or less new, so in terms of things going wrong, you don't have to worry because they all have a guarantee, that's one of the reasons why David didn't decide to modify this car because if you did you would probably lose the warranty and that's something you don't want to do oh it's a lot of fun this, it really is, you can rely on the traction control but let's be honest you're talking about a car that there is only one handful like this in the country, I really mean. that maybe half a dozen like this car, if so, and people did, Mr.
Harris, I think it's understandable that you love yours, it's unlikely we'll ever see anything like this again, I'm sure next you will end up being even faster and more competent. but that's not really what m2 has always been, it's always supposed to be fun, but for me there aren't two shows i've hosted that have made me go, yeah that's it, i understand what people are talking about with the f80. m3 generation as it happened, it wasn't until cs where I think I actually bought it and the m2 is apparently no different because this is the one that if you made me buy a Series 2 I would definitely have it.
I need to remember that too. Unfortunately, £80k simply doesn't go as far as it once did and with the car market the way it currently is. I'm not going to call this a bargain, but is it a safe place to put your money? Probably, in fact, I would say that if you went and bought a new 320d, you would probably lose a lot more with it than with this one and for that reason I'm very happy to say that the n2cs gets my thumbs up so that's enough for I think today Many thanks to David for bringing this car to you as always to check it out, don't forget to hit the like button, comment below, subscribe if you haven't already, I'll see you all in the next one. bye
