designs

that are available to purchase. In Britain today in

2024

we will be starting with a new entry and this is a new one from Ariba which I got a closer look at at the NEC

caravan

motorhome show in October in 2023, this is also the new Ariba touring 64. and there is something quite unique inside that I'm dying to show you CU.

It's so unusual that you will have immediately noticed that the pop-up roof is much higher than what is normally found on a reer and that's a bit of a clue. Of what we are going to find inside, when you enter, you will see that there is a lot of headroom that you expect in a Reba and it is a very conventional type of arba, but I must say that the finish work here surpasses the wood, the upholstery It's stunning, it's such a beautiful color combination, contemporary, modern, fresh but also quite timeless. Here you have a copper texture for the whole job.

Toops and tables. um it's a UK spec van so here we are with the oven full and the grill lost most of its storage I'm going to start a survey and find out who actually uses this stuff because it looks like a European van won't be sold in Great Britain. Britain unless you have one and it's a bit silly because we seem to require all these Caravans to have one installed and speaking to a lot of people, they don't actually use the oven or grill so maybe we could do without them but in the In the back we have a fairly conventional European fixed bed that has this little cutout in the middle that I call It's the hand-holding bed because you won't be able to turn to the middle and hug, but you can lie on the sides and hold hands.

It is something that is done in many European vans, it seems that we are not finished. Here, but it means it's pretty good for when you get up in the middle of the night. You can get in and out of bed quite comfortably. Here we have a small bathroom that, again, is not huge, but of quality. and the fit and finish are absolutely stunning. It's like a boutique hotel here. I love what the Rebers have done. It's just fresh, it's modern, it's classy, it's elegant and it's just beautiful. It's a place I want to go on vacation.

It feels a little more special than many other trucks on the market, but I can't help it any longer. What is this here? So if we change places, I'll show you because we've been hiding the fact that there's a ladder down here because it's actually a double bed up here and I'm going to slowly move it forward, it's very easy to fold like this and then I have to go up to the top and See you up there, there's room up here for two more people, it would probably be kids sleeping up here, to be honest if you're used to a

caravan

then this gives you the same sort of thing but in a more conventional caravan. format and it's quite unique on the market, currently there's only um a rebra and the Owen Himer group that offer this type of roof um um on a caravan and I think as more and more people buy into the motorhome phenomenon we're probably going to I see this gaining a little popularity but 10 out of 10 for trying something different.
I love it and think the Caravan is really something very special with all the grace of a dump truck. I'm going to leave the bedroom and even with With the bed down, you can still stand down here, uh, if you get up in the middle of the night once to go to the L, but as long as everyone is out of bed upstairs, you can just push it up and out. That's German quality, it's just stunning, this car is fabulous personally, it's not something I would buy simply because the concept isn't for me, but I completely understand it and know there is a strong market for these. and it's fabulous, very well made, wonderfully finished, wonderfully designed and shows why Reba continues to be at the forefront of caravan innovation all these years after its creation.
They are simply a fantastic and timeless design. Next up, at number four, we have sort of A new spin on an old company, not another white box favorite, and it's the Swift Base Camp Evo concept. Today we're off to one of the non-white box Staples, which is the Swift Base Camp 2. Now, if you've seen any of my videos before. I will know that this is one of my favorite British built Vans these days and there are plenty of people following this channel who have one, but at the NEC Caravan and Motor Homes show in October 2023 there is a new model on the block, no It's a bigger one.
It's not shorter, it's exactly the same Caravan, but it has a different name, it's called Swift base camp Evo and it's a completely new concept from Swift and it looks like a base camp feels like a base camp, but this right here is the true future. of caravans at the Evo base camp at the moment is a concept and Swift has just introduced it at the NEC caravans motorhome show in October 2023 and for me this really points to the future where caravans need to be - there are over 700 watts of solar energy. on the roof, uh, and a really powerful inverter that allows you to run this Caravan completely off the grid.
Sustainability is the buzzword in this project and, in addition to energy management, it also uses revolutionary new materials that greatly reduce the carbon footprint of this Caravan. in the manufacturing process, but also for the end user, such clever ideas as collecting rainwater to fill the toilet flush tank and even recycling plastic bottles to create insulation. A lot goes into this Caravan to really make it a model. of how caravans should be made in the future within the new Evo base camp um again, it looks like everything is the same here, but the closer you look, that's not all.
As it immediately seems, the first thing that attracts me is the fact that the gas has obviously run out, so we have an induction cooker, there is also an oven underneath, a microwave oven, even um, which obviously runs on electricity only in Elsewhere, it looks pretty conventional, except that the refrigerator is a special unit that runs on electricity, just there's no gas option in it, um, and you'll notice that they've even installed a deep fryer, which is kind of topical for someone from my age because one minute you're excited to go out at night and the next minute.
I'm excited about fryers and it's a real coming of age experience, so it's interesting to see one inside the van, because again, that's what a lot of people are using now in their caravans and at a base camp. There is plenty of space to put one. Also, one of the things I've always liked about the Base Cam, since it was released, is that they always had these overhead lockers, which are actually fabric bags with zippers like this one, and you can access them pretty easily and whatever. inside them and then zip them up like a normal wardrobe but they are smarter than that, they unclip at the top and you can just take them out and take them home and at first I thought I want a proper wardrobe, I don't want this but then , when I thought about how most of us use a caravan, we would put things in bags anyway and then put them in the closets, so why not just cut out the middleman and take the bags home and then hang them inside The caravan? everything is ready to go on your trip and it's this kind of clever design that turns conventionality on its head that I've always loved about the basecamp range uh and of course in the basecamp Evo they stick with this , it's a well set up in the base camp range, except now we have this beautiful shade of blue at the front end of the base camp and everything here is business as usual.
You have this beautiful, large lounge space that converts into a double bed. The fabrics are felt. lovely, they actually feel better than standard base camp fabrics and they are all eco-sourced recycled materials, which is just I can't express how pleased I am to see someone in the caravan industry doing this because my Char with the industry for so long. For a long time there have been a lot of single-use plastics and unsustainable sources for many of the materials that are used, so I think it's really important that Swift is testing this concept and if they could bring it to market at a price reasonable, it would be a great opportunity.
Really, really, really good for the industry, we finally get to the back where we have the bathroom and again, this is a pretty standard base camp 2 bathroom. Of course, we have that rainwater that flushes the toilet, um And the water. It is heated by the inverter using the solar energy on the roof to charge it. Still a lovely bathroom. We have the heater outlet here. We have a nice big shower tray. We have a nice eco-friendly sauce shower curtain that is fantastic to look at. something that's different, those horrible plastic ones that just stick to you as soon as they get wet, so I was delighted to see that we obviously have the gray slate which is again standard on the new base camps from 2023 and it just looks contemporary , it looks stylish, it looks modern, so overall what do I think of the new Evo basecamp concept?
Obviously, I love it. I love that the sustainability of the manufacturing process has now been thought through and where all the details will be sourced. accessories and accessories from now on I'm not saying it's perfect I'm not saying it's ready to hit the market exactly as is I'm not saying there aren't obstacles to overcome, but what I really applaud Swift for here is trying to improve and do something better in the Number three we have the Bailey Discovery d44 L which was a popular choice last year on my list but this year we were able to try it out in person, traveled to the Bailey of Bristol Factory and picked up this brilliant one. new Bailey Discovery d44 L prototype and they very kindly let us take it away for a thorough life test, which was a first on my channel.
I'll add a link to this test in the video description and in the video itself because you really need it. Take a full look to find out why this Caravan was so cool, but it's a new concept from Bailey that's been tweaked over the last few years to make it a little more practical and I think that's what impresses me. The most important thing about this is that it tries to defy convention and at the same time manages to do many things that Caravans at twice its 215,000 price don't do as well. What impressed us was the long interior kitchen that gave you a lot. of space to prepare and plenty of storage space and also the small bathroom area that functioned as a kind of closet for ventilation due to the small dimensions of the Caravan.
Uh Bailey has had to think a lot about how to organize the interior, especially when it comes to shelving and storage and this was just one of the things that really impressed me about this Caravan, but overall it's a fun cozy little getaway and really I enjoyed using it and I know it was our first taste of life, but I have used many modern Caravans. before and this Caravan impressed me so much that I will wholeheartedly recommend it as a caravan to consider if you want something quirky, cool or unusual on number two, we have a new gray entry and it comes all the way from Germany. but it will be officially on sale in Britain in

2024

and the AAY range is trying to take Caravan design to the next level and really take into account what the future requirements of a Leisure Caravan will be once we go electric. vehicles in a more prominent way, this Caravan truly carries the torch to lead the charge.
Sorry for the pun on what the future of Caravans will possibly look like, so the body of the gray is only 3.4M long, so it's small, it's really really compact and this is something we'll see more of in the future. Caravans need to become lighter, smaller and more aerodynamic to improve the range of the tow vehicle, so I really had to think a lot about how they cram everything. which we would expect to find in a caravan with a comparatively short body, but there are many things in this F that you will find that you will not find in normal caravans and you will see immediately that here we have a large conventional entrance door and here this is not a second entrance door for little people, it's actually the entrance to the garage space which is actually also the interior of the Caravan, which is why many other Caravans, including other canow offerings, have a detached garage at the front, um, which is, I wouldn't say it's dead space because it is storage space after all, but with this they've been even smarter and give you direct access in a more accessible way if you're trying to pass a bike or something. there to the living space, which obviously when you're towing it doesn't really matter, you can use it, so you'll find that there's a door on this side, but if we go around here, there's also another door on the other side that does. exactly the same and at this moment the sofas are placed intheir daytime position, but during towing you can fold them up, which I'll show you in a moment, and then you have clear access through there to put the bikes.
I've even installed charging points for your electric bikes if you put them there in the Caravan too. I think it's a really clever idea and again in such a small space it's a really clever use of design the first thing you see as soon as you The first step inside the canar 340 is the kitchen and it's a small compact space like to be expected to find in a caravan of this size, but that's not to say that they haven't been very clever in how it all fits together, uh, and at the top of the list for me are the Innovation Ladies, as they've actually used a compressor refrigerator to fit in here, which is much better than other manufacturers that are going all electric, they just use a standard electric refrigerator, the compressor refrigerator will run on The Ledger battery and it will work perfectly fine on your battery. vehicle, in addition, it is a much more expensive accessory, which is why I am surprised to find it. and I know it's one of the options on the list that has a significant impact on the price of the van, but this is the type of technology we need to see in caravans in the future to reduce energy consumption and simply allow you to be more freedom to use the Caravan off the grid, we have an induction hub here with two rings, we have a little sink here and a beautiful black tab.
I love it, these are the ones with canaris, they are obviously a German manufacturer. everything is high quality, everything is stylish and everything looks modern and stylish, and it's little things like this that you don't usually find in British caravans that make this a more interesting space, but in terms of clever design, it has something that I love. I've never seen it in a caravan before and there's a little hidden shelf down here which I suppose could be a spice rack or something that just pops up from the back, which is brilliant, it's so simple, and just required a bit of thought to execute, but It works great because if you don't need what's there you can push it down and have some extra counter space if you want, next to the kitchen we will find the bathroom and this is one of my favorite parts of the van . actually, because it's like a small boutique hotel bathroom, it's very very well finished, in fact I love the black panels they use, it looks like contemporary slate and there's tons of storage space here, even above the toilet there is a little space. there to put towels, hidden cabinets behind the mirror here at the top um and even down next to the sink we have these built in dividers uh where you can put the toothbrush soap etc. um and finally we have the heating vent on the back here because the heat is ducted into the bathroom, it's on the back of the cani SEO 340 PX where things get more interesting now.
If you've watched my channel for a long time you'll know that I love old caravans and One of the things that was really popular in the 50s and 60s in Britain and abroad was a folding bed, so I'm delighted to see that one has returned here for the canosia range, but just before we get into that, there are a couple more. Things to mention The seats are modular, which is why we mentioned before that they have a lock and an access door to the outside. These seat cushions can be removed quite easily and reveal storage boxes underneath so you can have free space. to pass with your bikes, surfboards, etc., so the Moment of Truth, the folding bed, this is what everyone was waiting for and it is a fantastic design back in the 60s that they used to use as a magazine rack as a leg that uses. the support of the bunk beds, uh, but unlike the versions from the 60s, where you had to take all the cushions and put them on the floor, we only have to move two on this side, press a button and with one arm we can lower the bed very, very easily, like that. and the bed is a really generous size, it's just under 5T wide and about 6'4 long, so there's plenty of room in this bed.
It's a very, very generous size because that used to be a problem with folding beds and the caravans where the beds were very small cars have obviously been improved by clever adjustment of the proportions and other things, um, and it's a bed perfectly usable and really comfortable, it has a lightweight foam mattress so you can tow the truck with the bed in the up position quite often, if they had a spring mattress you would have to lower them to tow and distribute the weight more evenly, but again Canar thought of that and has this clever pocket memory foam mattress that uses a combination of foam and the bed bumps underneath to make it more comfortable to sleep on.
I just can't believe that such a small caravan has so much space and I can continue to push the limits with the design and I'm not saying this is absolutely Perfect and this particular model is the real future of Caravan for everyone but there are a lot of ideas here that They need to be adopted by more manufacturers to help push Caravan design forward, so my Caravan of the Year 2024 is Lamon Cell's Liberty 440 PC, which comes with everything. from France and I have talked about these caravan sites on my channel, but in the summer months of 2023 we will be able to take one and live in it for the weekend.
These are imported exclusively by Marquis Leisure, which has outlets everywhere. the country, um predominantly more in the south. I will link to their website in the description below if you want to see them more because there are other models in the range but the Liberty playance is the top of the range model uh but this is the smallest one they offer in Britain and there are So much to love about this Caravan, from its quirky looks to its unusual styling. It's unlike anything else on the road, but the biggest thing that impressed me about this was simply the incredible level of attention to detail that's been put into this camper, from its near-monocoque polyester construction to its scratch-resistant graphics.
UV. This camper is built to last. This is supposed to be a caravan that you can buy and keep for a long time. They seem to be one of the few manufacturers in the world that are focusing on this and as we move to be more sustainable and reduce our carbon footprint we need to buy vehicles that last longer and break less, and the lam onell assures me that will do just that. What's really nice about the Monel's interior is that it's so spacious, light and airy, the Caravan measures just 6.38m long in total and that's comparatively small compared to many of the standard lights we've bought in Britain so far .
It feels so open and spacious here. It's a pretty standard 2.25M wide, so you can't even have the excuse that it's 8T wide and giving you space. It's just clever design. The soft color of wood. Bright white countertops. the light upholstery, the way they used the windows to channel light into the huge central skylight of the camper and this huge opening front window just make it feel really bright and airy in here and I know people say oh, you can't see the see out very easily, you can do it when you're standing and walking near the kitchen or in the closet or whatever you can see very clearly out the front window, but I actually quite like the fact that It feels a little private in Here it's not like you're sitting in a fish tank walking around camp.
I mean obviously we're in a pretty boggy standard campsite so there's no views or views to enjoy but when I was wandering around everyone would sit outside or sit inside the caravan with their backs to the front windows watching TV, so I don't understand this argument that you need to see the view. I actually like the sense of privacy this camper gives you combined with the tinted windows. From the outside people can't really see what's going on here and that's what I think is one of its big positives: it's unconventional and unusual, but still light, airy and spacious, and if you want to see the view , you are standing.
Stand up and stare at a tip for 5 minutes, but I think this seating arrangement offers more in terms of usability compared to having a large front window to concentrate on. This is great for your friends to sit and even if you are alone. or just as a couple, you can still put your feet to the side and enjoy a cozy and comfortable space and it just works from every angle in this front room and trust the French to turn conventionality on its head and do something like this in a van. I think it's wonderful, of course, France is the country of food, so how does the cuisine compare?
I will say that there isn't a huge amount of counter space, but there is one big caveat: the original French design has a countertop here. that still allows you plenty of workspace, but for the UK market they have had to fit a British oven grill and a three burner center on top, which is just a standard Thatford model that we are used to seeing among fans British here now. It has even irritated the French Caravan press, who have published an article saying that of course when the Manel comes to Britain he needs an oven so the Brits can dine on his roast and I love it when the French roast does that because Sometimes we really deserve it and this is one of those things that the British love about Speck in their Vans, but you constantly hear that I don't use my microwave.
I don't use my oven yet, we just love having them anyway. So if cooking is your thing, here's a regular Thatford oven rack and separate hob, but there are a few details you won't find in many, if any, British caravans, like this touchscreen, which pulls out a fan right above from the kitchen which channels the vapors to the outside through a vent in the side of the Caravan. It has a downlight for the kitchen so you can see what you're doing and it also has a clock and building timer so it's really smart. A well thought out little addition to the Caravan.
There are some other nice little details including this spot here where you can put the tea towel and dishwashing liquid right on top of the work and out of the way. A really small but very important detail: having dishwashing liquid. on the side it takes up space, so Manel has raised it high, as other European manufacturers like Adria do, but for some reason in Britain we're not sure why it has a fairly standard round sink with a nice glass top. foldable and this faucet is of exquisite quality. It's not the type of accessory we normally see in the caravan industry in Britain.
It looks like you could probably hang a rope from it and go up to the kitchen. It is very strong and resistant. which is again the theme throughout this Caravan, it's time to move on to the budoir and in true French style this is a really sensual place to be before it turns into a hand camp as most of it seems my videos. I'm just going to go ahead and tell you what's so good about this part of the Caravan that you've immediately noticed - it's a real stylistic contrast from the front which has the turquoise color and very sparse wall coverings, instead we have curtains , we have mosquito nets. and these lovely opening curtains separating the bedroom from the living room, now every British caravan you see, no matter the price, is like one of those horrible stupid things where you hear a beige concertina on a track that as soon as you turn it You open it, it just goes straight. or you have to regroup it manually and it's actually not a very nice tweak, but manufacturers seem to love installing them.
On the other hand, it's a really simple idea, it probably costs less money to be fair, but it just adds that certain style and shine that we're learning Manel is all about. I love it, apart from making jokes about passing the can through the middle, it actually makes this space feel very cozy and warm and has a very nice atmosphere. when you're sitting here, there's tons of storage space, all soft cabinets and when we've been talking about the quality of this truck, another thing that impressed me is that all the cabinets are lined up, all the spaces between panels are the same yes you bought them. a British van, you'll know it's one of the first things you have to quibble about when you get one, but Manel has managed to do it beautifully here from the factory, no adjustments or hook ups required, so again I just have to congratulate them, it's a fantastic design .
If I had £38,000 to spend on a caravan I'd put it in this one with confidence knowing I could have it for as long as I wanted. I wouldn't have to think about replacing it in 3 years because that's how it would be. wears out, leaks, or has problems with it. I have complete confidence in having used it this weekend, combined with my experience of usingso many other Caravans over the years. I have every confidence that you could buy it as a lifetime investment and you could keep it for 10 years. For 20, maybe even 30 or more years, we've known that the French have a great reputation for making tough caravans that last a long time and I certainly think this month's sale is a real credit to the manufacturer.
I think we should go back to some French. culture and enjoying a cheese course, so there we have it, that was my list of the five

coolest

new caravans coming to Britain by 2024, let me know your thoughts in the comments below and let me know if you agree with them, I hope. This year we will see some more in depth. I really enjoyed doing these live tests because it gives you a great opportunity to get to the nitty-gritty of whether or not these Caravans work. I just have to convey my thanks for this video to Bailey from Bristol for lending us the discovery to Marquis Caravans, who lent us the solitary freedom, and to the Caravana Motor Home Club, who accommodated us in their campsites. for life testing and also helped us at the NEC caravan motorhome show if you liked today's video please subscribe and like the video let me know what you think in the comments below and see you again very soon.
