The Battle For Warhammer Has Begun

May 26, 2024
There's been a bit of uproar in the Warhammer 40K community in recent days after parent company Games Workshop decided to make some changes to the story of their fictional universe and well, they haven't exactly been received well, but what? changes made? Because of such a reaction, you might be wondering, this is where I'm going to have to dig a little deeper into the story, so allow me the simplistic view that Warhammer 40K is set in a fictional future where humanity is trapped in a state of constant war. Across the Galaxy it has become a kind of quasi-religious military dictatorship where human life is cheap and the only thing that matters is the survival of the Empire.

It is a quote from the company itself in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium. There is only war. a stylish setting for tabletop wargaming and there's an absolute metric ton of lore to the story that's been gradually building up over the decades; In fact, you can ignore the gameplay within things entirely and just immerse yourself in the fictional worlds, there's more than enough. books, stories, graphic novels, video games, and magazine articles that will keep you entertained for decades. Regardless, one of the most iconic symbols of the 40K Universe has to be the genetically and surgically enhanced Space Marine super soldiers clad in power armor that are deployed in the most critical war zones in the entire galaxy are the apex of the human war and the elite among them are the custodians, the personal bodyguards of the emperor of humanity, in short, these are not guys with whom there is now a lot of lore around space.

brothers. I know it well, who would have thought? that a totalitarian, xenophobic and oppressive military regime would not have diversity and inclusion initiatives, the reasons for this are a combination of established LW, the target audience and, well, basic common sense from the lower side of things, the process to create Space Marines only supports male physiology and there is no way to adapt it to work on female bodies, the super advanced technology used to do it is barely understood at this point in history and to be honest there has never been much incentive to pursue it because, well, what's the point?

Only the strongest, toughest, most resilient individuals can even hope to survive the process of becoming a Space Marine, much less in custody, to put it in context, less than a fraction of 1% of the population. would be even considered as candidates which pretty much excludes women from the equation, so it always seemed like a question that basically answered itself and if I had to guess, I'd say a lot of this is probably because Games Workshop has a solid understanding of your target audience and what they like because how can I say this? There aren't that many girls interested in tabletop war games.

You don't say there are some for sure. I won't take anything away from them, but overall, if I had to pick the people who are most likely to be. In things like Warhammer, well, there will be guys like this and for a good 30 years or so, everyone seemed very happy with that situation. The problem is that Warhammer started to become popular, really popular, so it was only a matter of time before it attracted the attention of modern audiences, not the tabletop gamers who play today, of course, or even the women who enjoy the hobby, but activists who don't care about anything having to do with 40K, but just want to score another small victory in the never-ending war to dominate all aspects of entertainment and culture, the drive to make Making the world of 40K more diverse and inclusive has been happening for a while now and one of the big targets they've been attacked for is female Space Marines because really what women don't want to see is represented as a psychopathic killing machine 8 foot tall genetically engineered.
These people don't care that 30 years of tradition says it can't be done. It doesn't matter that most real players don't do it. I want it to happen, never mind that there are already entire armies of female soldiers created specifically to give women a greater presence in game worlds. The only thing that matters is winning, breaking another barrier, homogenizing and mixing everything into an indistinguishable gray. Inclusion Ooze gleefully takes away another precious thing from their enemies so they can gloat about it and strive for even greater victories next time, and a few days ago they took another step towards their goal with the release of a new rulebook from Games Workshop. where it casually fell into the fact that female custody is now apparently a pretty interesting thing considering it's literally never been talked about before and everything we know about it suggests that can't happen, but okay, sure, naturally, fans were confused by this and when asked about it on Twitter, the game workshop's response was simple and blunt, since the first of the 10,000 were created there have always been lying custodians, you know, I can't help but think that you guys are trying to rewrite a little History here I can't help but think that you finally started to bow to the pressure of the modern public and were almost certainly encouraged to do so by a sudden infusion of investment money from Black Rock.
I can't help but think that maybe you're trying. to enlighten your own fans into believing that we have always been at war with East Asia and apparently I'm not the only one, but Drinker, you are the absolute titan of tabletop tactics. I hear you say that the 40K universe is rife with misinformation. Recons and rewrite things. It's constantly changed and added to the story, so why should it be any different? I don't remember asking you anything. Well, let me stop you here, heretic, because there are a few small misconceptions that I would like to clear up in this case.
The development of the Warhammer Universe over the last 30 years is not so much an ever-changing chessboard, but rather a telescope slowly coming into focus on the early days. In the 1980s, things were intentionally vague and many details were still waiting to be filled in. because the developers hadn't figured everything out yet, but over the years those details have been filled out with hundreds of articles, books, games, and rulesets, and while certain details could have been corrected and expanded many times over the course of the general rule of the characters in the story. The books and foundations of the world have actually stayed extremely consistent, so no, that excuse doesn't work for me anymore, Boo, and as I mentioned in previous videos, tradition is something you should respect enough to work around rather than Constantly change because you believe it.
People either really get into these things or they don't, they buy into the fictional world you've created and the more you get into it, the harder you make it for those people to keep investing because they know that at any moment some moron could decide to do it completely. . rewrite it to suit their own selfish needs, but Drinker, it's just a small change, why do you care so much if there are female custodians? An interesting question, but here's an even better one, why do you care so much about no female custody? It bothers you so much that you've spent years complaining about it, why do you feel so strongly that this needs to be changed and why do you get so defensive when people ask you about this as heel versus babyface observed so correctly that it's really easy to ask the old question of why do you care so much once you've gotten what you want, it's easy to defend the status quo once the status quo has been changed to meet your demands until, of course, you've decided it has than change again in which case you will surely worry about these things again and make no mistake, they will demand that more things be changed to suit them and I guess that is the real crux of this argument here, it is the reason why fans of Warhammer are rejecting this so strongly that it is not like that. what is the change, although that is bad enough on its own, but that is what it represents, that is the biggest problem, it is the sacrifice of artistic freedom on the altar of identity politics, this right here, boys and girls , is the thin edge of the gap, is the first small one. crack in the dam that will eventually become a gaping hole because here's the thing: the moment you make any concession, no matter how small, you've already given away the game, you've made it known that you're prepared to bow to its demands. .
If they push you hard enough and inevitably their demands will never end, they will literally never be happy because there will always be something else, some other problematic piece of LW, some other rule or exclusive agreement detail that has to be altered to meet their constant demands. evolution and all in the name of inclusion and diversity because these people don't care about their hobby, they don't care about integrating into a community of like-minded people, all they care about is that the community bends and reforms to fit them until they finally bend it so much that it breaks.
People like that are complete and utter poison to any hobby, any fandom, any franchise, all they've managed to do is cause conflict, resentment and division that drives people away and turns fans against the very company that's trying to please them because their real reason for existing is to undermine and destroy what they say they are trying to save and if you have any common sense or love for the fandom. that you are so passionate about it that you will think very carefully before kneeling before them anyway that is all I have for today go now
