May 31, 2021
Hello how are you doing? In today's tutorial you are going to learn how to paint this

rainbow

flower shaped wine

bottle

and we are just using very simple basic home tools like a cotton swab and a toothpick so this is pablo so if you are I'm ready to try this project then grab your supplies and let's get started so what I have here is just an old wine

bottle

and I'm going to try to remove the label by letting it soak in some hot water. water and sometimes that's all you're going to need to do to remove it, but there are other times when that just doesn't work and the label doesn't come out clean and in that case I go to a product called goo gone um it's to remove sticky residue like stickers and such, and it works very well.

I love this stuff, so what you want to do is saturate the label and then let it sit like a plastic sheet of some kind, uh, and then I leave it. Sit for about 15 minutes or so and it came out clean, no problem, no residue left, but you have to make sure you go ahead and wash the bottle with soap and water afterwards because you have to remove the oil and then what. What I didn't show was the last step of cleaning the bottle with a little alcohol and that alone ensures proper paint adhesion. Now I know it can be hard to find supplies right now, so we're just going to make this project out of stuff. around the house, just everyday items, take a Q-tip and on one end you're going to smear some paint down the shaft and maybe flatten the end a little bit and then let it dry and then on the other end, you want to remove all the cotton all the way down to just the stick part and for these you want to make sure you get the paper stick type and not the plastic one because those just don't work.

Plus, I also put a little bit of paint on the other end just to hold down the lint. We are going to use all American art deco gloss enamel paints. Today we have white, true red, bright orange, bright yellow, desert turquoise, vivid. violet and lavender now the bottle is green so I didn't need much green but I'm going to use just a little bit and it will be multi surface American satin in the shape of a pixie don't forget to grab a toothpick and go. It's going to be our smallest tool and you're also going to need a damp cloth just to clean your tool as we go, the bottle can roll so I'm going to use a little bit of kneaded eraser to keep it in place and you can find these. in the dot art repository as well as the proper dotting tools and I'll put a link to the dot repository in the description of this video below our first color that we're going to use is called bright yellow and you just want to dip the end. of the cotton swab into the paint, you don't want it to go too deep, you don't need it to go all the way through the tool, just place the tip well covered and then you'll place your first thought. pretty much anywhere on the bottle you want, you should keep them about an inch apart, so it doesn't have to be an inch, however full you want your bottle with this design, you just need to make sure you have enough room . which surrounds these little center points, they are the little centers of the

flowers

, you can have enough room for the petals on each side, it's okay, believe it or not, you can actually reuse the cotton swab, just rub it with the damp cloth and you're done , the next color is called true red and I'm not going to soak the tool, you just want to cover the tip, that's really the main thing is to have the tip completely covered.

We're going to place a dot anywhere along the edge of the little center of the flower and I just continue dotting all the way around. Most of the time I was able to get six petals around the center point and you want to get the points as close as possible to the center point and to each other without them touching, but now if they touch, it's not the end of the world, you can take a clean cotton swab and just wave the paint up and away from the bottle and just repeat it, it's not the end of the world, it's not a big deal and move on and then you can clean your tool and move on to the next color.

I'm going to go ahead and go to lavender, it's the same process and it repeats itself over and over, whatever. colors you want to use you know this is deep purple again. I'm doing six dots, sometimes I can only fit five and that's if I've loaded too much paint into the tool or the center dot is a little bit smaller and didn't you know that if you got enough paint for the center of the flower then it would be a little smaller? In that case, you know that maybe only five petals fit around it, but most of the time it's six consistent petals around the center. dot and it doesn't really matter, honestly, I mean, it's beautiful, no matter what it's going to be pretty, you know it's going to be packed.
I wanted the design to be completely filled. I love it and here it is white and sometimes I'm going to do the center dot with the white paint and I'm going to use yellow for the flower petals, that's how I change that acrylic paint. It dries quite quickly. I gave him enough time. I think I let it dry for at least half an hour. in the middle and then I was able to rotate the bottle to where I have, you know, another quarter of the bottle face up and then just reposition the eraser or whatever you're using to hold the bottle and then go ahead and start with the points. central again and I'm making them randomly wherever I want and however full I want to make them and I have a couple of white ones for the yellow

flowers

.
I'm going to repeat the process again coming back. with red, you could make all the flowers one color, you could make it, you know, a combination of two colors, it's just what I wanted to do with the

rainbow

because I love rainbows. You can also add more depth to your flowers by adding top dots as I show in my cherry blossom tutorial, which you can find the link to at the top right of your screen and listen, you know this is art so there is no way Right or wrong to do it, just make it yours and have fun with it, that's all.
Now the bottle is green, so we don't need a lot of green here, but I just wanted to add a couple highlights of a brighter green, so I'm going to make little leaves and you're going to use grass. green and elf green, which you know, whatever you have as far as green, I just wanted to change it to two different ones and I'm starting by making a dot with the paper end of the cotton swab and then you take the toothpick. you dip it in paint, stick it right in the middle of that little dot, and slide it so it's a little bigger than a leaf.
You can also just dip the toothpick into the green paint and then continuously dot away from a flower and the dots will decrease in size and are like little tails and I thought that was cute. You can do it too. I did a combination of all three. You can also wet the toothpick and paint and just slide small movements and then allow this. dry now according to the instructions on the paint bottle and you want to make sure you read yours, you know, the bottle because some of them may vary slightly and you definitely want them all to be the same.
It says you should let it cure for four. days and then you're going to put it in a cold oven, you set the temperature to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and you bake it for 30 minutes, then you're going to cool it with the oven door partially open, so I put it in the oven I set the temperature to 325 and I'm going to bake it for 30 minutes. Obviously you want to let it cool completely before trying to handle it, but once it's done the paint will have a permanent bond with the glass, so able to wash it well personally, I'd still hand wash it now.
I have to show you what my friend Sherry Kepler sent me: it's a little string of LED lights attached to a plastic cork and it's cool and I've been wanting to make it. I've been using it since I bought it and I thought this was the perfect project for it, so it's made to go into a bottle, you just pull the little tab and unroll it, put it in your bottle and light it up, right? ? Pretty, thank you Sherry, you are so sweet. Thanks so much for looking.
