2017

and in the open class returns Frenchman Marvin Muskin, who is crushing it in

2017

, taking second place in the overall ama motocross standings this year and is looking to try to repeat here, our first competitors are in the door, so let's check in with Jason Wagon and legend Ricky Johnson.

Well, thank you all. We're certainly excited about this. Because Red Bull's direct pace is basically the highlight, the best. We just give you the jumps here and take out the corners. there is no break, there is no reason to stop, the riders will be open all the time and it is a lot of fun to watch, a lot of times you want to see the first corner because there is always action there, then you want to see the frame. flag and you want to see a dice to the end, but many times so many things happen between the start and the finish that the race can sometimes get boring, it doesn't have a

straight

rhythm

, there is no interference, you can't eliminate each other, you have to do it. stay in your lane and be the best you can and it's a very short race about 39 37 seconds from start to finish and Red Bull has upped the ante this year by adding a class so we'll see three divisions with open lights and two strokes . all competing in a pool format, the best two of three races move on to the next round and we have our defending open class champion, marvin seek, with our will, christian marvin.

The last time we saw you here with Red Bull's direct pace, you had the trophy firmly open. in your reach the end of a great 2016 season, that momentum continued this year, how was 2017 in the world of marvin musca, well, like you said, I had a great offseason and was able to win the main events in, you know, the class 450 and then outdoors too, so bottling for championships was just amazing, so yeah, I hope to finish this season and this year really well with a

straight

pace and move on to a new season, now talking about winning consistently.

Here at Red Bull Straight Rhythm, I'm rightly saying that you've never lost a race. You have two titles, one in lights and another in Open. If you defend your title here again tonight, you will be the first person to hold three titles. Who? Are you looking over your shoulder at the riders and the other classes too who will you be watching? Well, yeah, there are a couple of big competitors, a guy like Brock Tickle or Josh Hansen and Tail Hours, I mean, those guys can go fast, so, it's going to be super intense and I'm really focused on myself in this one. moment and yeah, I hope I can win again this year and in such a unique event, you know I'm very happy to be here and thanks to Red Bull.

I'll be excited to see you there thank you so much Marvin and thank you let's look at the course Marvin will be competing on with the help of our friends at dji as we look at the drone footage they start they got the small section as they pass by then they jump to the little rhythm section, they can come down from some tables, some doubles, some triples, some quads and then go down to the alligator pit about 10 feet deeper than the surface and as they come back we're going to call. On this giant size you can see a lot of different elevation changes, a lot of different combinations, but trying to keep the bike as low as possible, keep as much pace as possible when they go through the pit tunnel, come into the sand section if you see Ronnie .
Mack on the right you can see the rust, he is trying to run, but when he gets to the last area, he watches as he crosses the line, if that were a race he would be disqualified. We have a step by step, up and up. Excellent final dji drone footage first in the field will be our two-stroke class. The stands are

here at the Fairplex. I think this might be the crowd's favorite class and we have slides against Ronnie Mack Villopoto against Jared Stanky. and this is going to be amazing, i don't think you can realistically pick any of these guys as a favorite because even with villopoto's background, he's never done this kind of thing in two-strokes, he's never competed in this event before Sipes out. fastest qualifier ronnie mack the last wild card stanky who has experience in weekly two stroke races this is really hard to call and before tina dixon got the ken roxanne version in this two stroke class ken roxanne now joins us as a spectator Here at Red Bull Straight Rhythm and Ken we are preparing for an exciting night.
Who is your pick and who are you excited to see? So I think everyone is excited to have Ronnie Mack in the game. Will it support your conversations? Ryan Villopoto basically retired. He came back so we could start running the two-strokes around here and overall having the first straight pace two-stroke event, that's what I'm most looking forward to and it's going to be an exciting race. Ken Roxanne, enjoy your time as a spectator and we are enjoying watching this two-stroke race. Ronnie Mack will be a youtube and social media sensation and he is proving to be the real deal.
It has been a dream race so far wow, he has to beat the sites. quick qualifying, but this guy is not a joke, he is very funny on social media, but he is serious here on the racing site, we are trying to get him back as much as possible, still with the advantage, a little wheelie on the nose, Entering the rhythm section, the style is unorthodox but effective. Sykes is running out of ground, is there anywhere left where we can get something done or does Ronnie Mack have it covered? Listen to the crowd. Ronnie does it again and the trademark knows that Wheely arrives at the end, which scares us every time we see it clearly.
Up, he took places, fast qualifier, down, they'll have a rematch and you see Ronnie Mack a little bit pushed forward, a little bit better start and it seemed like he was still inching away from Sipes. Sipes had a great quad jump at the beginning of the race that he used for that fast qualifying time, but he doesn't do well here, he has to triple instead of quad and that allows Mac to get the advantage. The sipes couldn't make up ground and then that

signature

air wheelie over the finish next ryan villopoto, the living legend, nine time national motocross and supercross champion, jared stanky, a day's work, privateer, but he specializes in the stanky two stroke with a bit of roll and a great start when it comes out and actually with a slight lead but ryan does what he does so well and that is stay on the ground and use that traction shot the dji drone there the tooth truck is actually coming back now and in front of phillipodo ryan with a little mistake he comes again and again. he gets out of the alligator but makes another stinking mistake with a pretty clear lead at this point and that's the key to this event.
Anything can happen, it is very difficult to predict a winner and at this moment we could not have a surprise special. Coming back, he is closing the gap to half a bicycle. Late finish line in sight. Stinky. Beat Ryan Villapodo and this is the guy who lives in his van. He calls it the stinking bus. Eventually, several times, that was it. It was the mistake that we saw Ryan Villopoto on that jump and that's where he lost the betting advantage, but here notice that he falls short again, he doesn't make it to the top and that allows Stanky to get about three bikes than Glee, but Ryan went.
Faster at the end is the mistake, once again you see Stanky get an advantage but Ryan is back so he will be strong in the second round against the wall, now Villopoto has proven himself to be one of the all time best under pressure. But let's see if he can respond when we return to the semi-finals here in California for a straight pace. This is Red Bull's exclusive

series

and this is the situation for Ryan Sipes. Your quick classified. He has his back against the wall because Ronnie. mack beat him in his first race if scythe loses again he will be eliminated if sipes wins this we will do a third race notice how low ronnie mack is at the start and as he comes out he gets a little more aggressive as which comes out and then ronnie mack with the hole shot and the guys have been saying they like the left lane so he might have the best lane and he has the switch hull shot so Scythe is going to have to get some of the jumping rhythm. train better get the quad and the leader amazing listen to these two hits ended the lead here but ronnie with a good run a good scrub makes a good run now through the speed whoops can he make something happen?
The crowd comes alive at the finish line. in sight we go to round three so six returns to beat ronnie mack and both groups of two times will enter the series of three. Villopoto has to try to avoid elimination against Stanky. We will have two series of three and we will see Scythes in it. right he triples there and quadruples and that was the lead that once he got, once he separated from ronnie mac, ronnie couldn't make up the ground and ronnie was the one that made up that ground early so everyone says from Ken Roxen to all these different guys, you have to complete that first section and that has been the difference, yes, the best start for Matt didn't pay off, so now Ryan Villopoto has to win this one or he will be eliminated.
Could this be it? the stinking underdog the privateer against the multi-champion can stinkin' make it oh they're revving these things hard, they're running them real hard right now they're running neck and neck, so here comes the rhythm section, who's gonna do it? they are running jump after jump, everything the same at this point and stinkers with about half a bike lead absolutely stinkers is keeping villapota at bay now philippo charging hard side by side a small mistake, although from dillipod another mistake and this could be that it can be meandering eliminating villapoto the complete underdog stanky is doing a great job otherwise he has to do his thing get clean in this last step forward step out this is the cinderella story jared stanky has eliminated ryan villopoto and he does it by the private tears existence up to date For this guy, he runs for fun, he doesn't have millions in the bank like Villapodo, but he had the heart, the determination and yes, all the trash talk that everyone had before this two-stroke event and this is the guy who backs him up. above and we're looking at Stanky on the right, we see Ryan make a little mistake here, he rubs and then loses a little side to side, he doesn't cross, but that's not what cost him the race and Stanky just kept him clean look here at Ryan Villapone in the black on the left when he passes he loses a little bit of that forward momentum and when he comes here he loses momentum again and that's where Stanky took the advantage, let's go tina Well, yeah, and Jared will go ahead, In fact, Jared, you had to remind some of these guys that you still actively run two-strokes and are now moving forward, yes, that's right, I made it to the finals competing against someone I've watched. to my entire career, ryan volpotto and yes, I am very excited to have made it to the finals in a class that I feel was made for me and ryan, I mean, this is a difficult course, what happened out there, a little mistake , You know? the races sucked, he was riding great and he just nailed his races and you know, for me it was me, you know, hoping to make it to the next round, but it's all for fun, Redwill put on a great event and, yeah, we'll come back and I'll see the best ones do what they do and anyway guys this two-stroke class has been super entertaining to see incredible respect for Ryan Villopoto I mean that's a champion you know he's mad I mean like not did it.
I want him eliminated, but he didn't make an excuse, he

full

y congratulated Stanky and said that he had a clean race and that he made a couple of mistakes. I have more respect for Ryan Villopoto now than when he won all the championships and still smiling despite that he's also having fun he's a good actor at the time okay because he's not happy yeah either none of these guys will be the ones who end up losing he's excited against ronnie mack ronnie mack with the hole shot, got him had a good run, this was the lane where mac won before, so we can see thesides obviously a little cleaner but ronnie mack with a different beat in this section got the dji drone not mac's specialty but aggression certainly isn't it's working. he's got the gap he's got the advantage in snipes the winner of this one goes to the finals and listens to the crowd the crowd is going to go crazy if ronnie mack makes it to the main event he's got it under control right now he's gotta do it Stay bug free in this one final section.
The fans love it and the race continues. Ronnie Mack will reach the final in two shots. You can see s and y.Ronnie ran two completely different routes and this is where Ronnie Mack took the advantage. You can see cases where he nods his head a little bit, but he was able to hold that jump and use the mistake to his advantage, get back on the ground and keep running. Hard, I love the forward thrust of the pelvis, he makes it all work, I don't know how and then he does this every time and it scares me to death every time he does it because if I've ever been this close, I had to abandon.
Out and very good job running back yeah this isn't the way you would teach it at a riding school but it's effective enough let's send it to tina it's effective enough ronnie I mean coming to this event It was all a bad word on your part, but you. You're backing it up right, you know, I pulled out of that 250 race, the four-stroke class to focus on this and the after party we're going to have, but man, suck at the finals, we're already going to win tonight anyway modes. I know this race is designed for guys like us.
In short races we can show our true talent. All these guys have no talent, they just try to work and go to the gym and ride bikes in spandex and we go out and just talented God given talent, that's why we're here winning this one and guys, it's going to be fun, Stanky and Ronnie Mack in that final wow, so don't adjust your set, that's right, Mac eliminates Sipes Stank eliminates Villopoto and the final. will be two of the most colorful characters in the game, the multi-faceted and talented ryan sipes will take to the court for the semi-finals in the lights class when we return to the red

bull

Signature series.
Welcome back to the Red Bull Signature series here in pomona california by straight pace moving on to the lights class now ryan still has a chance here he entered both classes and was able to beat colton eck in the first round cantrell beat enzo lopes it's a great race between those two so cantrell and sipes on one side of the field, shane mcelroth, the winner of this class last year against teammate alex martin, on the other side and although slips was eliminated, he's still in the mix , so don't count out ryan sipes, he's had a great career. and he's not done yet, no, no, he wants to do it in lights since he was eliminated in two hits.
Sean Cantrell, the young racer here from California, the rookie pro Simon just came out of the race against Ronnie Mack, now he faces Cantrell and you can see. cantrell with a little advantage in the left lane oh it's wheel to wheel both putting that big quad in the alligator pit great race here cantrell trying to stretch it and the sites get on top of that table, a small space now very , very close between these two, ryan's side for a bite, but he can't try with an incredible scrub as they go into the speed screamers and this for cantrell rallied the crowd in the first round against enzo lopes, does he have any tricks up your sleeve now against?
Snipes gets the win and Sipes, who is now establishing himself as a backwoods racer, adapts fairly quickly to the supercross game, something he hasn't done in several years and is effective. Then we see Cantrell at #43 pushing really hard trying to get it back but uh the sides were a little bit cleaner so he's definitely pushing for this uh our next group you got shane mcelrath in that factory charlie design red bull ktm and the same team, the same team for alex martin, they race with the same team and we are fighting for a place in the final.
Look at Martin, he is very small and has a very short burst of speed, very similar to Marvin Muschin. He has the dji drone camera here showing you the chicken coop. Oh, we see Martin right there with a huge attack. quad and now takes the lead yeah so we've seen some back and forth action here some passing right now martin on the left side with the white team has the advantage he's running out of time here we go to the last 100 yards. he runs, takes a step, goes down and it will be martin wow, so Amar shows what he is capable of.
Aymar is known as a real workhorse and a guy who gets stronger as the races go on but he obviously has some sprint speed as well and check this out as he walks by here they are in the small rhythm section but he take this chance and triple it and then you see uh martin did it on quad and that was the difference so it's the little rhythm section that makes the difference yeah so you're nobody planned after that mcelrath was trying to figure out where he could gain ground but he couldn't find it so alex wins the first race among the teammates when we come back more than the semi-finals here in california to have a straight pace this is the red bull

signature

series welcome back to red bull signature Series here in Pomona, California the lighting for tonight's event has been provided by musco the world leader in sports and mobile lighting for 40 years at musco we make it happen so we go back to ryan sipes vs cantrell and again this is fighting For a place in the final the sites win this goes to the final if Cantrell wins it will be tied one to one and we will go to a third race and this is interesting because it is two strokes against four both are 250 cc engines the four stroke power very controllable the two stroke very explosive let's see which one works best oh sykes ooh and he doesn't give up seif he gets hit hard on the nose and he just keeps charging and now he's starting to come back to cantrell yeah he's not giving up at all ken charles, a little bit of a lead, inching in, a trip to the final on the line here, one more set of jumps and Cantrell will stay away and we're going to a very competitive third race this year, in previous years we haven't had so many three-race heats.
Look at the guys he's on, you can see he's falling short, but he absorbs here, he does. a bouncing seat with his nose up doesn't achieve the balance he wants, but he watches, holds on, and doesn't even miss a lick. Simpson is a very strong rider. Oh, he's a Kentucky boy. He is as tough as he looks, but polished was he. performance by sean cantrell and they will have to race again now that we return to mcelrath and alex martin alex martin is one to nothing can he eliminate mcelrath who was the winner of last year's event?
Now mcarath was in this position last year and he increased I increased the intensity and I got to the final and then I won it and I'm in the same place I've been every year, every year, my God, it's the same this year, no They have screamers in it and I'm on the edge of my seat, my palms are sweating and I can't wait to see because you love racing, you know, you listen to the Kentucky Derby, it's not that they go so fast, it's because they win by a nose. and That's what we're seeing here, every little moment you can see every little mistake, oh yeah, and Mcelrat told us before, absolutely, he gets as nervous on the starting line for this as he does for any other type of race he does. and he has to do it. be very nervous now because he is in a must win situation alex martin with the white team mcarath in alex martin with a double clutch at the start he lost the advantage but seems to be making up a little ground at the moment mcelrath has Oh, they are back to put those wheels on the ground at full power.
It sounds like something cyclists say: that the left lane is a little faster because the guys seem to go a little higher in the right lane and Martin seems to be working a lot harder on that side, here we go, the final advantage of 100 yards to mcarat trying to avoid elimination. Martin is coming, it's not going to happen. Mcelrath gets it and three more runs here and these guys get along great with their teammates. This is fun. For them, you can see that Mcarath has a slight advantage, but look at how hard Martin has to work his body back and forth, as he likes to lock the rear brakes, try to get the nose down, so you'll get a lot more activity physical.
Martin's right lane that we see at Mcarath is very smooth, very calm and very smooth. Martin was almost there, but down the stretch, Macaron was able to pull back here and take the win. It will be very fun to watch. these two match up once again let's get to Will with an update yeah thanks guys well I just spoke to Ryan type sir and asked him if fatigue played a factor here when he came up short and took that hit he said No, it's fine after that. He's not really trying to be tied, he's just fighting with the left side, which is very interesting considering all the other racers have been favoring the left side of the track.
Well, that's good, then that means that in this battle every racer is the winner and makes it to the final. This is where they say that in checkers or car racing records there is no second place and as long as Paulo believes he becomes Rocky, there is no tomorrow, everything is fine now. 40 seconds, we'll see who goes to the main cantrell. He better start, he has that turn. hole shot over the slots here is the section where Scythe had trouble in the other lane. Can you clean it now? Cantrell a little more dynamic a little more I'm going to say a little more new school a little more yeah a little more youth but I'm, ryan seif has been running in all the races, oh, the cases, that'll pretty much take it away, like that that cantrell just needs to be smooth, yes, a couple more mistakes, canceling maybe hasn't been spectacular, but he has been precise and will go to the final, yes and he is excited about this cantrell, he is so young and so new at this that He hasn't competed in professional supercross yet, so he's also gaining a lot of knowledge and confidence.
You may see this thicket a little more dynamic than the cantrell 43, but here we are. We are seeing grooves in our vision, his left lane falls a little short, it's not at this point, but at the moment everything is going very well, but then he falls a little short, but Cantrell is very dynamic, definitely a superstar in the great fall of the future. It was important for him, those punches show you the emotion and he is with tina, yes and sean, you are moving on to the final, but so far, how competitive has this race been, I mean, we have already seen so many races go to three , including York Man, this is crazy, I mean you don't want to get to three, but it's definitely exciting for everyone, your heart rate already goes up when you're on the line, but it's cool, the track is really good right now.
I feel like he's favoring the right side so we'll keep it just between us but I'll try to stay on the right side yeah here they go he's moving on to the finals and Cantrell is new to this. He's never competed in this event before and he hasn't raced in professional supercross yet, but he's certainly showing that he's got some skills, so here we go, teammates, it's one on one, each beat each other once, Whoever wins this race will go to the final, whoever loses will be eliminated, they are Shane Mcelrath and Alex Martin. I will really feel strong about the start if someone double clutches which we have seen in the past and then we see mcarath with a great start but martin can gain that speed.
Coming into the first section, as we watch from above, they are exactly neck and neck with Mcelrath with a slight lead at this point and now Mccarath has the advantage. It's going to be desperate times for North Carolina Minnesota Macaroni veteran Alex Martin. Real. Nice guy, southern gentleman to talk to off the track, but he's a competitor when he puts his helmet on and with his back against the wall he had to win this one and he macarons like he did a year ago, he faced one- nothing of deficit wins the next two rounds and goes to the final and Jason got faster every time, he got a 39-6, a 38-9 and now a 38-7, that's the fastest lights time we've seen all day .
This is where he got that initial advantage, little mistake by Martin, yeah, you see, Martin, he analyzes it and he doesn't recover from that point and yesterday we talked to Ken Rox and he was saying that sometimes you have to slow down to go fast. you can't make a mistake and that's what we saw from shane mcelroth, all about hitting the marks and that's what mcarath has done two years in a row, he keeps getting faster with every race on this course, we send it back to him Tina and Shane have the experience because they are the defending champion and now they go to the final, what can we expect there?
Just try to do more solid races like that, I mean it's getting harder and harder, everyone is doing all the paces so it's just, very, very minimal and if you do a jump you can lose the race so I hope so looking forward to it and competing with my teammate sean cantrell yeah guys that's going to be good shane has been in this position as defending champion so we got arider who has been there and done that against a rider who has never raced here before in Cantrell, so this should be fun when we get back to the Red Bull Signature Series.
Welcome back to the Red Bull Signature Series. We are ready for the open class semi-finals. here at pace direct from pomoda california here's your field in the open class brock tickle vs josh hanson marvin muscan kyle chisholm those are your final four in the open class should be interesting you have two privateers chisholm and hanson and two red bull factory ktm riders muskan and tickle, let's see who is vulnerable here, could it be an annoying special chisholm who really had to work hard to get to this semi-final? musecam meanwhile has been sailing through the groups so far barbara with a great start and you can see how much he is faster when he is on the ground, he uses his body very dynamically, but when he is on the ground he uses his time there.
I was talking to Roger Decoster about that. I definitely don't want to say it, but he sure goes to the next level. It seems like he took victory in this event last year, propelled him to a phenomenal 2017 season with many wins in supercross and motocross and continues to roll here like dancing a little in the sand, missing the first mistake we've ever seen. outside of him, but certainly not enough to stop him from beating chisholm in this race, so marvin gets the win, he'll have to do it again, even if we go to the final because it's the best two out of three format, so that while we watch Marvin. as he comes in he gets up and goes over it and on the downside he applies it chisholm a little short he loses a little ground he has to jump to grab some and get some height but then as he gets to the finish I think that's very key when it comes to Marvin Musket, he comes to the top and never drops a wheel, so now we have Josh Hanson, he's a 100 in that yellow Suzuki on the right against Brock Tickle, these guys really struggled quite a bit in their light supercross days.
They used to be teammates, I don't know if there's really any lost love between them, Tickle has the great factory bike, but on this type of ride, Hanson is definitely one to watch, Brock Tickle with a great ride, but josh hanson really quick. the first section so now they are in the small rhythm section who is going to make the difference here they both jump the same and then josh hansen goes for the quad and that puts him in front now brockton class to go to work yes hanson getting the fall ha Been nailing that big pace the big pace through the little pace lane a little case of hanson but tickle can't take advantage tickle is trying to go deeper now look tickle reaches out and grabs another gear trying to get it going but on this one moment it's about josh hanson as they wheelie in and out and brock tickle oh too much front wheel up but josh hanson is going to win that heat and the crowd reacted to that when they saw tickle make that mistake. so hanson gets the win watching brock tickle him right now here they go into this quad and you can see how here josh hanson goes for the quad instead of the triple and then as we watch this go in tickle will make a mistake and that will be the difference between the race as they come in, watch the tickling as he does a wheelie, he almost does a loop and grabs it, but it's a big save and that's because he's so athletic and strong, such big things we're going to do. see out of brockton this year at supercross hanson meanwhile a stuntman at this event is very good let's send him back to sal in the studio thanks jason there has been a lot of talk on social media throughout this event twice supercross and motocross Champion Chad Reid got into the mix a lot until he had to withdraw due to injury, as did four-time supercross and three-time motocross champion Ryan Villopoto and Garrett's stinky dog, Stanky, got into a lot, for of course, ronnie mack, he's always calling everyone out and that's what makes the straight beat so fun, you know, a little bit of talk, what do you guys think of this ken roxane two-stroke shootout?

Welcome back to Southern California. it's direct pace part of the red bull exclusive series the classes open and the door ready for its second race of the semi-finals we have a showdown again between chisholm and muskan muskan not only won both times he ran this event first in the lights class and last year in the open he has never been defeated in a single race for this event. This sure looks like it was made for Marvin Muscat. What can Chisholm do? Here we go. Chisholm just has to do his best race and let Marvin take care of himself, but the problem is that when you give Marvin Musca too much clue, he just ruins it and goes so fast that I noticed he pays attention to his body position as he does the jumps and then he goes very low and comes up when he needs to be high, so not only are we thinking about being very static on the bike, but he moves quite a bit using those forward and backward angles to stay high or low, whatever you need.
Amazing trip here by musket, who is it really? He stretched it over Chisholm and has the checkered flag in sight. Marvin Muscat will go to the final for the second year in a row and this Frenchman is always in the zone in everything he competes, things continue to move his way and no matter how aggressive he is. If you don't see a lot of mistakes, you can see how much more sideways Marvin is than Kyle, but here it stays, they want to get the timing right, go low and then go for that big quad and that makes the difference here how he jumps stays high he doesn't go very high but he lands and cleans it right into the alligator pit and here is the finish line, big celebration for the very friendly Frenchman and now he is next to the track with tub, yes, and marvin so far has made.
I've been mistake-free and dominant, but what are you telling yourself as you go racing? Well, I try to put myself in a good position, you know, it's like really focusing on myself and trying to be perfect, uh, all the way. From there to getting here it's a lot of fun thanks to the fan for showing up uh it's very exciting to be here now there's pressure for the finals yeah guys and he still has the smile on his face who's going to join marvin? muscan in the final will it be josh hanson if he wins this race? got tickle needs to win two in a row to try to take out hanson facing orange 20 hanson vs yellow 100 got shot by the dji drone there, small advantage for hansen the tickle arrives early back tickle is going to nail this section this has been the advantage for hanson and tickle makes a mistake and tickle over the jump which i actually feel it under the quad jump and that will be handed over to josh hanson so here we see the underdog the black one, you know, the black horse, i guess if you want to call him, yeah but josh hanson comes here for real and he's not, you can't mess around, not on this kind of track, josh hanson is in his element, there are legendary stories about him during the week at the super cost test tracks and the kind of skills he has and he is showing them here, he will team up with marvin mustang in the finals and he is capable of winning it, now keep an eye on Brocktick on the left side, everything is going well in this. point as it goes by it actually jumps under the jumps it pops up and then that's what took away all the advantage so it jumped a little bit and now we get another look at it as it goes by here the downside is it's all nice and I clean. he jumps, lands right on his face and then that stops him, he comes up short and then it looks like his bike stalled, wow, tough, tough break for brock tickle, but I'm glad he's safe and josh hanson is going in the end, tina.
Yes, Josh Hansen is going to the final and it seems like you take a very different approach to all the other drivers. How confident do you feel on this track right now? I feel good. I think my bike is really good. I think show us the suspension. It helps me a lot and I feel good about it, I mean, between Nut Up and Luna Pages and Fox, it's a great opportunity to be here at Red Bull to put it on, so like I said, I want to win, yeah. You want to win, it's going to be difficult, you're going to face Marvin, so what can we expect from that?
It will be an all-out race, there you go, all-out race, that is a classic and practical style, that guy, everyone says that if his heart rate goes above the line, you would need to see the monitor to believe it with Hansen, that guy is super relaxed and they call him the people's champion the very popular ronnie mack will be next to compete when we return to the red bull Signature series welcome back to the red bull Signature series, it's time for the two-stroke finals here, at straight pace, we see the ronnie back fans going crazy, they got exactly what they wanted, this guy is quite the character off the court, but he is a serious contender and to have these two, what dynamic personalities from Stank and Ronnie Mack, that's what It's really about the two-stroke class, it's a race, what you brought, it's a newer bike for Stanky because KTM still makes two-strokes and updates. them every two years ronnie mac is on a 1998 honda the bike is almost 20 years old but the way red bull straight pace works that doesn't really mean anything none of these guys and any of these machines are capable of to get it.
Done this is the ultimate two stroke stink dog against ronnie mack taking a slight lead at the start but look at Ron he uses that straight back to help get more traction as he gets a slight lead going in but stankdog him work backwards, it's still there. anyone's race oh no and he got up I hope he's okay fortunately he landed on a flat part of the course and not before a jump and it sucked he clearly heard that there is no other bike running so he slowed down the pace What I didn't like was that Ronnie Mack's left knee extended too far under the handlebars and he got stuck there and you can see him grimacing in pain with paint and stuff, so I won't take anything away from him staying like a dog, he did. great job but let's see what happened to ronnie mack oh he's back he's a tough ombre no doubt if you watch any of his videos he crashed a lot worse than that practically on purpose and a big round of applause and he agrees return. the bike, man, well, and a hit like that hurts because you're that gravel, you can see his right is right, look how bent that bike is, I can't even tell what the accident damage was, the thing wasn't perfect , certainly. he starts to take another look as they pass, they are heading pretty evenly, but as he goes down he comes up a little short, knocks his foot off the peg and then throws it straight onto the next one and falls.
It's not a hard hit, but look at the left knee as it extends there, so there's going to be some blood on the arms and stuff when this is over, but we'll take another look at it, there's the dji drone, yeah, and that was the case . that then his foot came off the peg and that's what lost him, will he come back for a second go around or does he suck? Jared Stanky won the two-stroke championship. That could have been much worse. Let's go with Tina trying to make some sense of it. everything that is happening tina, what do we do?
So I'm standing next to athletic director Eric Paranard and he basically told me the rules, if one person falls, if one of the runners falls, it's like Stinky won that race, so if Ronnie Mack gets back on his bike, it's okay, the bike is okay, that's how it is, it's like Stinky wins that race and they can keep racing, so if ronnie mack wins race number two, he could make it to three, so basically we're finding out now that ronnie mack wants some time but now he still wants to run so guys we can see another showdown between those two okay it's one to nothing but it may not necessarily be over and one of the mechanics of the team from ronnie mac from the oklahoma woods righting that bike the old fashioned way guys, i'm here with ronnie right now ronnie, you were full of confidence there before that and then we saw that incident, tell us what happened, how are you feeling now?
Go back there like I said before, we had a 69 chance of winning that one and you know, we just fail on the other side and that's what happens, it's a wild horse I'm riding there, it's fire-breathing 1998, sometimes you just I stop, guys, Ronnie is following the appearance of things trying to separate himself from fiction. Here it only adds to the legend if he rises when we return more from the finals here in Pomona for a straight beat. This is the Red Bull signature. series welcome back to the seriesexclusive to red bull here in pomona, california the lighting for tonight's event has been provided by musco the world leader in sports and mobile lighting for 40 years in moscow we make it happen he seems serious about this attempt to re-enter and You know, the fans what answer would they like to hear, they want to hear that he's going to try it, he's going for the kick lever that you just called kick lever, kick starter, it's a lever I've never heard of, yeah. exactly okay, he's got that thing on, does that mean come on, come on, come on and this could go to three, this could go to three, if he makes it, this will be the setback of the decade or the century we had so few races in The first is that we don't really know that he might be the fastest guy, we didn't get far enough on the track to really figure it out and if you're stinky, you don't know either.
Because the race for the win in that particular round ended quickly, Ronnie Mac did it, retreated to the starting gate and is going to try it. Listen to the crowd, they're so behind us, this is incredible, uh, these people are fired up. a legend well, now it's real this is not just youtube this is not instagram he is running and going for the victory and ronnie with a slight advantage over stankdog has the change shot in any case, the crash only loosened him and turned him on He's got the amazing leadership, but stinky is no slouch, he comes back with a ronnie mack wheelie, that's what I'm saying, he's able to put that traction on the ground and make it work so stinky with a great job right now, but he's got You have to stay motivated because now I see Ronnie Mack losing a little bit, but can he quit when it comes to the sand speed section?
Here we go wide, stinky, looking for victory with the pink team. Ronnie Mack's signature overall look is the dream roadkill. You can get it? He, back, Stinky will take the victory. He is your two-time champion and Ronnie Mack gave everything he had to come back from that accident and make a career. It was amazing and fans got everything they wanted to see with these two. Guys, I guess you could call them two-stroke specialists, coming out on top, yeah, right here at this point, Ronnie Mack in the left lane number 69 69, chance to win it and then here's Stacky as he jumps into the crocodile pit.
Slight advantage, but look. how is ronnie mack able to get the traction down, such great work by these two guys, yeah, and Stanky had to feel the pressure there because ronnie mack was there, but he stayed calm, cool and collected coming to the finish line, Stankdog put him through the ronnie mack speed section he seems to recover a little, but in the step up and down everything sucks and as much fun as it is, ronnie mack off the track sucked, he's no slouch, either He's going to celebrate this victory, you know he's excited. no, oh, here's the bike it's already destroyed, what difference does it make?
And he's not really acknowledging it. Oh, he's fine, he's going to prove it. Check out this real sportsmanship from Ronnie Mac. I'm surprised Stank rides two-strokes all the time. time so I think that's why he's a fan tina let's figure this out yeah well the winner is Jared Stinky but I would say you two wanted a way I mean he came back from that accident and then they moved on being consistent. Could you sum up the fun, how much fun you had in that race, not even just the race, the whole event is an amazing event.
Red Bull put on a big event, uh, first time here, 10 grand to win, so I had to do it. I know I'm the two-stroke guy and I was expected to win, I think apart from Villapoto and Reid, but I'm the two-stroke guy. Ronnie Mack has the fans and what better combination to have Ronnie Mack and Sank Dog in the finale. It was a great matchup, the two-stroke class, I mean, it attracted so many big names like you said, Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed, but you claimed it from the beginning, yeah, yesterday in practice, I went out a couple of times next to Villapoto and he was pulling.
I kinda, you know, and I think I gotta pick it up, I gotta pick it up, sure enough, I picked it up and got the w, yeah, you got the w and the win, congratulations, yeah, big two-stroke final salt, what's next? Thanks Jason, we have two light finalists. Mcelrath versus Cantrell. Can Shane really repeat or will he be his factory Red Bull KTM teammate? This is a family dispute. Here he is going to get angry. We will find out who our lights champion is for 2017. we return here to the fairplex in pomona you are watching the red bull signature series this is the red bull signature series we are preparing for the finals in the lights class so much unexplored territory for cantrell that no has no super pro The cost starts but he will start that journey after New Years in 2018 it will be his first full race in supercross but he has certainly shown that he has raw talent but as a young rider in Southern California you are on tracks super crusades all the time, so it's very, very similar to what you're used to, but right now you're going against a teammate, you have a slight advantage, so Cancer, like we said, has been a little bit more enthusiastic about some of the things, but it's Mcelrath with a slight edge.
Yes, for Mcelrath. here's the critical juncture, different paces and cantrell stays close, they cut it to half the life of the bike and actually now side by side, ken cantrell takes the lead, cantrell is a little more dynamic, he tries a little harder, but then he realized that he lost by a quarter of a bicycle length, but now who is going to let him and now we see mcelrath on the far right, here we go, final section of jumps, half bike left, advantage for mca wrap, now a full length bike, can it hold? Yes, he does, mcarath. wins the first race of our finals, that was amazing, the manual that mcelrath did as he went through the two steps, up, down, there was no step, he went down, he just turned all the way down, so stay tuned as he comes down here now.
This is early, but the macaroni, sorry, Cantrell makes up a little ground, but he is a macaroni who makes no mistakes. He is very, very clean throughout the race and they were close to two or three points on this track where Cantrell was doing. On the ground look at that manual on the back wheel the whole time and we saw some of the racers earlier we saw Brock tickle almost going laps so very good balance uh for mcelrath looking to come back to back and win this event two years in a row. row but he will have to beat Cantrell one more time because he is the best of three, you have to win two races, let's see if Cantrell, that number 43 can force his teammate to a third race and it is the finals of our lights class , Cantrell. to the right of the rider, then the blue rim on mcarath to the left of the rider and mcarath with the shift hole and the leader mcarath very clean on that start coming back, cantrell coming back close but then macaron just smooth to the end but cantrell like you said now with the lead, yes he has taken it, I don't know how many passes we have seen in that section, but cancel has done it, he is going to try to force a third run and he is pulling away, mcarath has to do it.
Nail this section, he's getting close, not close enough and the kid makes it. Sean Cantrell beats Mackel Ralph and we're going to have a third race. I love it, I love that kid's confidence. He, as we said, a little more enthusiasm, moved a little further, but now that's a very fine line. We've heard Ken Rockson say a few times that you have to be gentle and don't do. a mistake so don't overturn it and now we have seen the right lane win both heats and there is the final margin of victory. You will see it here.
A series of jumps. Mccarath was very fast in that section in the previous race. He got closer, but it wasn't enough. Cantrell took the win by two tenths of a second and yeah, a little bit of the best team among the teammates and that was the fastest lights runner. We've seen so much attention to this crowd right now. these two this is what you want from the final rick johnson you want these two guys to win one each and bring it back for a third race and i loved it when cantrell looked at him, put his fingers in his eyes and said: "I'm going for you in the end and what I like most about my uncle's anger is that he's just okay, come on, you want to go, we'll go and here we are, they're going to fight, it's at stake right here the winner is the champion of. the lights class and can't follow the lead early mcarath and blue trying to come back have to be perfect this section is very complicated and mcelrath goes for the quad and it's worth it, he gives him the lead, but Cantrell had an ace up his sleeve last time in this area Cantrell was faster in the middle, but it was the quad and we have heard a lot of people say that you have to be smart and now we see Malcolm involved in speed Oops, but here comes Cantrell Jude scored by. ken, try to lift it side by side, checkered flag in sight.
Mcelrath for the second year in a row is the champion of your life in the straight pace of Red Bull and what a race he had to take from his teammate. Cantrell gave it everything he had, okay, look at mackarath on the left, he goes for the quad, see, you can't try it on the inside, just do the triple, that was the difference, but cantrell works very hard and rubs very strong and with much more enthusiasm and aggression and he gets close, but he doesn't make it, yes, it was the single wall jump that led to the goal, look at this, he makes a ton of dirt, look at the brush, his peg is in the floor, lift your foot off the peg, you can.
Don't rub harder than that, yeah, sorry, not even James Stewart grabs harder than that, when you drag the side of the bike across the ground you're pushing the limits of physics, but even with that effort it wasn't enough, mcelrath. he has won again and there is the celebration for him, it is a lot of fun among the teammates, great lessons learned, I am sure Cantrell will pay off in his future career in super cross, it is good and Tina has our winner Yes, he is down here. I said man I was really nervous but let's talk about that quad because that was a defining moment for you to explain to us, yeah they were on before that, I hooked the quad up a little bit early and I had to sit down.
On the last one and I cut that one too and that's where he caught me, so I knew those two were my weak spots, but if I do what I'm supposed to do, I can hit him well and the rest. from the track, I felt really good, it's just those little things, so Sean is a rookie this year in Super Cross and he's come a long way and, uh, just the whole team, I mean, praise God for all of this that we are. We are very excited to be here and we all have a good relationship, but Jordan hurt his ankle today, but he feels good having the tld team on top.
Yes, let's talk about you, although you won this race. It's one thing to win a race once, but come back the next year and win it and back it up. How is that? It's hard to get psyched up at the starting line because I mean, it's so much fun. race in which we are all having fun, but in 40 seconds a lot can happen, so it is very difficult to get angry to get to go and have intensity and achieve everything perfect because, as I said before, you can have a good race and lose, so it's crazy yeah thank you so much congratulations we have one last one take it come out thank you Jason couldn't ask for two better open finalists Muskin vs Hanson are we going to have another repeat situation on our hands or Josh Hansen ? who made it to the semi-finals last year finally reigns supreme, we'll find out who the 2017 straight pace open champion is when we return here to the fairplex in pomona only in the red bull signature series and this is interesting as we set the stage for the finals. johnson because marvin has been virtually mistake free, can he do it again? and you could say last year he had to beat ryan dungy now it just has to be josh hanson hanson beat dungey in a race here last year hanson and dungeon were very close in speed when they faced each other in this event before Hanson be capable once again and I'm not taking anything away from Josh Hanson, but we're looking at a different Marvin Mosque.
He won his first super cross this year and he and he won. A lot of confidence, but like I said, I'll be behind if Josh Hansen brings everything he's got, he can't beat Marvin here, it's your first open final race at Red Bull, straight pace and Marvin fresh out of the blocks like a missile and an early lead are not attractive and Hanson has been able to maintain it even after that start and it's right there Hanson putting the nose down and coming back to the ground actually a little faster than what Marvin said Josh Hanson faster through the oversized pace the section in the middle got the dji drone shot there, oh and a little mistake by Hampton who had done all that work to get close to Marvin and now the lead for 25. and Moose Gan will get it, but Hanson certainly learned a lesson there.
There are certain parts of the track where he was closing the gap which should lead to a big battle in the second race and I have to hand it to Muskin as far as theintensity. Look at Mooskin at the start, he is very aggressive when he is on the ground. he's hitting him really hard and then Josh gets kind of a wake up call and starts gaining ground. You can see he has the front wheel down, showing a lot of confidence and really gaining time on Marvin at this point, but then makes a small mistake in quick cases when the CEO is trying to catch up and then fails to make it over the top. alligator pit and now let's take another look at this is the error when you leave the cases there. and that throws him to the right, that was all the difference in the execution, but as far as Hanson's raw speed goes, he had enough to keep the heat on Moose Cannon, that's the closest anyone has come.
Marvin seeks to be perfect, not only winning the event, but also. had a perfect record won the lights class at the debut of this event a couple of years ago won the open class last year has never been beaten in a single race but could privateer hanson in the suzuki beat marvin muscan here has it? to win this or musgan is once again your red bull champion straight pace hanson second generation driver, raced against his father, the multi champion in his own right, always known for the great style and talent of him, will be enough to stop the rumor.
I saw that Marvin Musca had a much better start, much more aggression from Josh Hanson at the beginning, so he's actually ahead of Marvin at this point, so he's not done and this little rhythm section has been Hanson's specialty Let's see if you can do it. work, no, this time, muscan has the advantage, i have the dji drone camera here showing you the place, being posed and taking him right in the face, but still it continues, but marvin hasn't made a single mistake at this point, the no hansen's law has been nearly perfect. but still Muskin is able to far away now you can see him a second consecutive victory in his look marvin muscat wins again and his patented hill clicker to celebrate and he has been doing a lot of those things lately because there have been a lot of celebrations marvin muscan has gone to the next level hanson he did what you said he had to do, he brought everything he had in that one, yeah, and he needs to lift his chin up while you watch them both very, very closely, but it was Marvin who was able to do it.
Just the time on the ground is where Marvin made the time, I don't think Josh could have jumped faster or better, but when Marvin was on the ground, I saw right there he was pulling a bicycle league, he was pulling half a bicycle, like all these little moments on the ground were what got him through and here's Marvin's signature finish line celebration, the hill clicker that was kind of a pioneering move in the freestyle revolution in the '90s, has done it. brought to the end, we know tonight with the two-half celebrations. Fans always like a little nod. to the past and marvin muscan in the present becoming an unbeatable force and tina has it yeah well big congratulations to marvin once again you just did it and you did it very consistently but there were times when josh kept you close, but how did he do it?
You make it, yeah, I knew Josh was pretty fast, I mean he's a very technical rider. I rubbed it too hard at one point. I mean, my bike was completely sideways and I thought it was going to go wrong, but I managed to put it off. and uh yeah, I mean there are some sections where you're like, man, I want to go faster, but obviously it's hard and you've got your competitor right next to you, you can feel it, but at the end I had a decent gap so I could breathe. before the finish it wasn't really very tight so it was good, but congratulations to all the guys, to all the riders, thanks to Red Bull for such a great event and once again I'm very happy to be the winner, many congratulations, what else.
Great performance from you Marvin, thanks to Tina and signature Red Bull moment, it goes to Marvin Muscat. Now it's one thing to come out on top and win the event this year, but it's even more impressive to go three years in this event without even losing that much. like a single race, especially when you're in a race that's that short and where even a small mistake can make a difference. Marvin had laser focus, hit the perfect beats every time and also put on a pair of cool scrubs to get the wheels back down to the ground for maximum traction and to celebrate those wins he even has a signature click finisher of the heel.
Many congratulations to the man we are going to call Mr Perfect. Marvin looks for victory in the open class at today's Red Bull Signature. Right now, well, the celebration has started here at the direct pace of Red Bull and although Marvin Muscam was the big favorite after winning last year and winning so many races throughout the year, the hallmark of this event is a unpredictable race and it was close and tense every time they came out of the gates when I got to this event, I think it's going to be the same, really hard to report, but it's the race, it's the win, buy a sniff that makes it so interesting and we had so many surprises, past champions, crazy rivals. in the 250 class so many surprises thanks red bull, it was amazing yes a real celebration with the different motorcycles from the past, present and future of motocross and supercross and I think the fans really enjoyed that salt, thanks jason, thanks everyone.
