Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Welcome to the Ford CIF Southern Section Division One

title

game just moments ago. We were in the modern dressing room to hear Bruce Rawlinson in what could be the last time I felt them many years ago. I told this to a soccer team when they came in, if you want to run fast, run alone, but if you want to. to run a long distance race run together this has been a long distance race now let's join arms and finish together you understand me finishing together is through the Brotherhood it is for the boys of pride and courage and the

ers of the last race long distance It ends tonight when that gun goes off at the end of the game, arm and arm, we crossed the finish line right above me one, two, three, well, I certainly think that should have excited you, welcome everyone to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, with Greg Biggins.

More Interesting Facts About,

steve quis play by play 1 mater dei vs 2 st john bosco for div 1 title at rose bowl first half...

Steve Quest Anna Conley will be joining us here shortly and Greg Biggins we saw this game on October 7th at the Santa Ana dance in Santa Ana and at that time, number two, one for ten, got all the points they needed in fourth. fourth of those 10 points my question is can Bosco make up for that Gap here almost two months later, can they and let's remember the last game uh Pierce Clarkson out in the second

half

no Kamari home no chance Sylvester Marty will miss many guys in terms of just being I'm sick so I think both teams are going to play better tonight and I can't wait for this one.
steve quis play by play 1 mater dei vs 2 st john bosco for div 1 title at rose bowl first half
I'm very excited and they can't wait either. They have been very familiar opponents over the course of the last decade. In fact, it's the sixth time since 2013 that the two have faced each other in the CIF and that's why Steve, the

first

game they played this year, one in verse two, he wasn't really feeling it, he knew there would be a sequel. True, he was excited, but he knew they would play again. These are the two best high school football teams in the country. There's a big gap, I think Steve, between these two, so whoever wins the

first

game is not guaranteed to win the championship rematch.
steve quis play by play 1 mater dei vs 2 st john bosco for div 1 title at rose bowl first half
The last four times, in fact, the team that lost the last game came back and won the final, so it should be a phenomenal game tonight, so I guess that would make Bosco the favorite here tonight when we go back one against two in the nation for the second time here. in 2022, this time for a section

title

, perhaps a national championship at stake, plus we will start it from the Rose Bowl next time. I didn't know we were coming with that excellent shot, so no, okay, okay, the Rose Bowl is celebrating its 100th anniversary of existence and tonight presents Friday Night Lights for the first time in decades.
It's a verse two in the nation for the Southern Section Division One CIF Championship. We welcome the third member of our team, Anna Conley, before we begin. Anna, well, it's no secret that these are the two best high school football teams in the country and you will be seeing these players for years to come. Now there are 165 players on these two college rosters of those 165, 78 of them are. most likely moving up to tier one college football division now these teams are three deep at some positions today's running backs all three have D1 offers all three of Saint John Bosco's starting linebackers headed to college programs division one based on current college programs and alumni combined, there are over a hundred guys playing at the next level representing these two teams and if we needed further proof, as you mentioned before Steve, the last time these two teams played in a Southern section final, well, the current Heisman Trophy winner was playing very interesting things, before we start here from the Rose Bowl, let's introduce the keys to Biggins' game here before this division one championship game, friend , that's so modern, you have to be balanced offensively, that sounds a little obvious, but they have been executed. the ball really really well the last two weeks they made the passive game work and from today and for suing me for St John Bosco winning the turnover battle I feel like every time Bosco loses this game they usually have minus two minus three in turnovers so protect the ball and create some turnovers of your own.
Bosco won the draw they chose to postpone. I'll ask you if that's a good thing or not, so today you're going to get it first here to open this division one. championship game at about 60 degrees with clear skies at the Rose Bowl for the first time in decades, that's what they always do. I think both teams always want to differ to get the ball to start the second

half

and if they can somehow find a way to get it. that last position in the first half maybe you can score 14 points there Ignacio Fonseca kicks it, he stands at the five-yard line and Bryant will cross it at the 25-yard line.
His forward progress will stop at the 27-yard line Bosco says the ball was out, however, retaining possession will indeed be modern monarchs our first look here at Elijah Brown, the 6-2 junior quarterback, a perfect 29-0 yes, I wasn't wrong 29-0 is the one who calls the opening signal monarch , he's already beaten Saint John Bosco three times in his career, yes, no, the complacent percentage, I would say 65 to 70, elite, four or five touchdowns to an interception while leading, he's at 29-4, he just can't shake it, Steve, you are so prepared in the pocket. The mannerisms and the way he plays reminds me a little of that guy, Bryce Young Drive, starting at the 27 yard line on a first down and 10 for the junior has the potential to beat the Braves for the fourth time in his career of the. rush and a handoff and it's Jordan Davison, a sophomore with the starting carry for about five yards, all here, you have to see them here on offense about 29-0 Steve and 9-0 against MaxPreps top 25 teams .
Jordan Davidson, I thought he was the best player in On the field the first time these two teams played just a sophomore, one of the top three or four sophomore running backs in the country loves the way he runs the football, This is what they did on October 7th, he got a lot of good yards on the first down. You may remember on the first drive two encroachment penalties against the modern first try of the game St John Bosco before they had to break the ball on the second try. Davidson runs between the tackles again and is close to the 36-yard line where he is heading.
He is one yard away from the first down and this is key. Bosco's defense couldn't get off the field currently on third down the first time currently converted 7-14 third downs and I feel like a lot of those third downs were like this third or third and two third and three right now, if you're an OC you have so many options mentioned before, probably the best offensive line in the country and then three really good running backs, so third and one that's not much for this. Well, the modern Italian offensive front, which is Davidson in the backfield, modern day one, actually takes on Saint John Bosco for 113 yards last time and on third and short they go to Davison and he has a two-yard run on the first down, which keeps them getting hit in the backfield, they had a chance right there, that's what David said, all the great running backs in your running back coach, hey, the big ones can make the first guy foul or shoot, that first guy picks up a few yards after contact.
Davidson did it. I'm solid right there, it was last week nine carries 122 yards two touchdowns in that semi-final 52-nothing win over Low South in a 100 yard game like we mentioned against Bosco and that touchdown that put him out in the fourth quarter almost two months ago complete first down action ground to throw for the first time make a throw downfield has an open man is Marcus Harris has the catch at the 20 yard line and stumbles into the red zone for a great first down because he and Marcellus Williams are tough guys to beat Marcellus Williams, but I think Marcus Harris is the most dynamic wide receiver, just a sophomore, but that's what he can do if you can run the ball and last game we kept saying, hey, can I do it now? some shots on the field?
Harris got about two yards of Separation, a nice easy throw to Elijah Brown, a great play right there for the modern 45 yards and a first down on the second on this series for the modern era and they have it in the red zone of the 17 yard line. from St John Bosco who just started in this championship game, Harrison moves again and Brown keeps a bit of a broken game and Kingston Villa, the junior, will catch him in the backfield, yes, one of my favorite football players talking about Kingston. I thought he was the best freshman in California toward the ACL, the last game against today in that little five-game season, he missed his entire sophomore year.
Very good junior year. I don't know if he's back to 100 yet, referring to Kingston, but when he's healthy he's a man. elite linebacker Prospect, so a loss of two leads to a second-and-12 and for the first time in this opening series the Monarchs are playing behind the sticks, you're going to see a lot of one-on-one coverage from Bosco just because They have a lot of respect for that running game, so they stacked all the one-on-one coverage in the box and that's why you saw Harris lose pressure, it came from the motor, they're going to catch them and it's at the 26-yard line, another negative. plays for today, as Kingston Villiano goes in there again for his fifth sack of the season.
I think everyone loves player comps. Noah Sewell is my cop for Kingston, he's 6'3 and 2'30. He makes air, he can drop there, he's right. I'll tell you there what he stressed, but Kingston meant drop coverage plays The Run Devon Bryant to me, probably the most physical, his leader in that defense, heart and soul, Mateo then, off that edge, really special special talent which was a seven-yard loss, which brought up a third-and-19 and let's see if the Braves in their ears step back and go after the junior quarterback who hasn't lost since taking over as the varsity starter for Bryce Young, if you can believe the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and there is some movement there. it was a problem with penalties the first time they played again, oh thank you negative yards for today, today has essentially moved out of field goal range at this point, after that big chunk for Marcus Harris , it seemed like they were going to at least get it.
Three of that drive now probably need to score around 10. To make it a doable field goal. I'm glad you said that too because Jason Black pointed out while he watched the entire movie. This is the first time in a long time. In modern times it was actually played on real grass, he said it was slippery for USC UCLA, they took note of the great third down. Brown jumps in and feels the pressure and the power coming back in the Mattel 35, which is younger than a gets there, a loss of five, yes, they absolutely did. back after that first time.
I don't want to doubt. It looks like that first down play you mentioned made a little mistake on the handoff right there. Maybe he would have returned to Davidson. He continues to run the ball, but he saw a lot. of Mateos guys flying in Kingston already called it enough tonight uh they got some guys up front that are active I mean they play with Angry Steve they came to play here big Woodyard on his own 10 yard line to feel the punt from Sam Padua, who averages 33 yardsby punt and he's pinned his opponents inside the 20 10 times this year and if they're going to give it to him, let's see, he tried to keep it out of the end zone football and they'll doubt him at the two yard line.
How's that for today's special teams? Nowadays, they always play great special teams, punts, even covering them, and that will lead to a break. Nowadays, they can't get points in the initial series, in fact, they are going backwards, Bosco. We'll have it for the first time when we come back, the ball went beyond the goal line, touched down again on First and Ten at the 20 yard line. Foreign, further review that it was actually a Touchback and the ball will go out to the 20 yard line. Bosco's first drive on his own two-yard line, yeah, it wasn't a good call and obviously receiving the ball on the two-yard line, on the three-yard line versus the 20-yard line, a big one. difference, here are piercings, six-foot senior quarterback, heads to Louisville in modern unit.
The first four plays got 56 yards, the last three plays negative 14. Yeah, no, Pierce is one of those guys that you almost have to be more distrustful of him when he keeps it up. He's a very athletic kid and the moment isn't too big for me. he loves this type of scenario he got hurt he mentioned before a little concussion protocol the last time they played each other so I know he's looking forward to getting in This last time they played they only had one drive towards Bosco in the first quarter and Clarkson he threw an interception intercepted by zabian Brown in the end zone on a ball he probably should have run on first down, he's throwing almost down here and he's got Izzy.
Polk for his 27th sack of the season, the ones to watch here for the Braves, yeah, we're talking about Pierce, you know, gold threat quarterback and I think they're going to give those little short things that they don't want to get beat above. DeAndre Moore, to me, might be the most explosive player for Bosco. We're the most explosive players in the country and they did a good job on him last game, but they got him the low Bosco sticker, which was a five-yard pickup. on first down for Polk, who had two receptions for 23 yards against today in the first game, Clarkson throws here and it's incomplete, oh yeah, he's targeting Tommy Maher, the junior has 13 incoming receptions.
I wasn't sure who he was talking about, he threw the ball right between Bosco's two receivers, Monsieur White, he's probably going to be my Defensive Player of the Year this year. Big Time pass rusher Edge continues to catch him David Bailey and then Zabian Brown, now we see him lock up a lot of really good receivers at third here again Bosco. he didn't convert a third six in the first game on October 7, which was really an Achilles' heel for him. It's been over a year since they converted a third attempt against modern times. What's up with Mateo in the slot, the big ol' 6? '5 The goal that falls, the left goes down, catches, is up to 40 and out of bounds, how about that zero goals in the first half against today?
The first time I had to get the ball quickly in this game to the Louisville-bound wide receiver, yeah. no, a little pick play, it's not called, but DeAndre, he can go for me. I think he's a national guy, one of the top five wide receivers in the country and really good after the 17 catch on first down and that ball. he's out and Nasir Wyatt looks like he took him out and then R.J finiaginofo covered him, how's that in back to back games? Clarkson in the initial series spins it over time, shaking his head because I know what Jason Negl is talking about.
Right now you're thinking that every time we play with these guys something weird happens, right, there was just no contact, right, it was just, I don't know, Pierce thought the camera would take it and Camp Pierce would keep it, but it looks good to start Mario's day. he covers the loose ball and they're at the 44 yard line coming in right now they tried to pass it to Cam Jones and the two collided, the ball went out. Fini agonofo, who is coming off an ankle injury, returns to recover and just as they did almost 60 days ago, the Braves lost him in their first series and gave him back to Elijah Brown.
He's got a first down in plus territory here and they're running the ball up and up, they were so successful the first time they ran it that it's Jordan Davidson running at him. Jalen Perkins and they are so big up front and when I say they are big I mean so many lines now. High school wines, you know, they have a couple hundred, a couple 300 pounds, they're 300 across the board and they can move. and their technique is impeccable and they play together and those two tackles are probably two of the top five tackles in BJ's total of the 2024 class at Center.
He will play more games than anyone in Marvel history. He started every game as a freshman. and hasn't missed the start so they are really good up front, second and fourth for the defending national champions, perfect 12-0 on the year, ranked number one, entering for Max Preps, quick little career patches made Jack was a fighter, he's got the first down and he's inside the Bosco 30. They're playing him from five or six yards, take that right, just do the quick little move that you saw Bosco do that, if they're going to take you on now Mart Hey, cut, apply some.
Pace in the first game, they took the clock and almost played at a very slow Air Force type pace, now they are upping the pace First and Ten from Bosco's 28 in that first game, they got the takeaway, they did it today and then they drove. 99 yards for the first touchdown of the game again Bosco only had one possession in the first quarter on October 7th they hurried to improve their ground by throwing for the end zone a diving catch for the touchdown Marcus Harris does that all the time we did we At the Centennial game, Steve had two or three of those crazy stunts again, just a sophomore.
Elijah climbed into the bag. He had perfect timing, a deep pass and a great throw. Great catch for Harris. His 12th touchdown of the season for Elijah Brown. That's number 30, but it's his 10th without an interception against Saint John Boston and this is what I wanted to see today, something balanced, you know they can beat the ball from anyone, but eventually you have to have a little something in the game air we have. Now I've seen him go over the top twice and continue to score the all-important extra point. Andre Medina. I really missed four this season and on the natural grass he sent it right into the net for the extra point to go up seven and yes, Marcus Harris again. four really good wide receivers currently Marcus is the most dynamic of the four again.
You can't pass the ball better than Elijah Brown. That one had a lot of time to throw a beautiful ball. Marcus Marcellus Williams. Really good coverage, but I always say there's no defense for a perfect shot, which was a perfect shot. Bosco is going to play behind for the second time this season against Mater Day and it's almost exactly the same turnover script this time, not modern times. I have to go 99 yards for Brown's touchdown so far, three of three, 82 yards and a touchdown. He has accumulated over 2,500 yards on the season. It looks like he also had Marcus Brown open deep, but Marcus Harris made a touchdown a little deeper and again, just remember.
Kind of chalk that in your memory how many turnover points Buttery is already plus one and I said every time Bosco loses it's always minus two or minus three in the turnover battle. Vagan Island to start from the 40s here at the Rose Bowl. we sold 13,000 tickets before today we're hoping for a big walk there could be up to 20,000 in the house for a verse two which could decide the national champion when it's all said and done there's still the state finals to come I'll be back and I'll pick this one up when die between the two.
It's Jaleel McLean, he's bound for Louisville and he's going to take the ball to the 18-yard line, so here's Clarkson coming back to work for the second time, you know, I thought. I think Jaleel thought what I thought that ball was probably going to roll into the end zone, but he wisely picked it up and yeah, if you're Bosco, let's get Cam Jones going right now, he came out throwing, uh, no problem with that. . DeAndre Moore is going to give him some confidence, but Cam Jones for me is 6-2 and 220. Coach Rollinson refers to him as Derrick Henry II, which means he is a big power back who officially starts at the 19-yard line. and it's Cam Jones.
FGM Jones is pulled up near the 24-yard line by Delaney Davis, the junior outside of his safety spot. Jelani had a great game against Bosco last time and he will come down from that safety spot and is one of those physical tacklers at all. from California those guys will be clashing all night cam Jones had the only touchdown against the modern day on October 7th he tied the game in third at seven it's a century transfer and Bosco has to spend some time here everyone good as if these two The teams need more presentations. I'm not really sure that's the case.
However, we have some fun facts for both teams as we run out of time and for Mater's Day, which was inaugurated in 1950, of course, tonight we will be all over the country, so welcome some people and the Monarchs 115 CIF championships if they win tonight it will be a Baker Dozen 13 in football see 10 Olympians three Heisman Trophy winners including the reigning champion and Heisman winner in Bryce Young and that's pretty good it's just his notable The exes quarterback alumni don't even take into account all basketball players, yeah no, they have some really good receivers over the years.
Well, Drew McCoy is still playing college baseball and I'm at Ross St. Brown. I had a very good Christmas Day game. Nico Romigio Fresno State had a really nice year, all three guys were on that moderate 2017 team that to me was the best team I've ever seen in the Southern California area and the subplot of all of this is that after 34 years this could be the last game for Bruce Rawlinson if they win, the winner of this game doesn't play next week, they will advance to the state championship game in two weeks, it's Saddleback now, so he could live to play one more game or this could be all if Moscow somehow digs out of this early 7-0 hole.
I've always said I wish the loser of this game was somehow included in a state game too because I do that up north, yeah Regionals talk about the number two team in the nation or the number one team will end up coming back to home without a chance to play for a state title. Bruce Ralston choked up a little this week because he actually played for USC and took this field against Michigan in the opener. start of the 1970 Rose Bowl game out of timeout a second down and five a little gun and a right pitch coming forward is Cam Jones, runs right into the Leviticus gutter something I'm glad I never did and Leviticus is the heart and soul of that defense and again a rare three year Captain, the players vote on that and Leviticus was elected sophomore, junior, senior, all those brilliant things I could have said about Devin Brian apply to Leviticus just great physical plays tough plays with highly intelligent motor Stanford Academics UCLA Arizona Stanford probably in the last three for Leviticus on third down now and a one yard loss, it could have been a direct snap to Cam Jones and now it will be a fourth down and two semi too long the sophomore with a stop for a loss, let's see, yeah, it was the snap right to Cam Jones and what a great play in the semifinal right there and Wyatt is there, which now gives him 28 tackles for loss this season, already you get half there. with two longers and Sierra just a sophomore, there are a lot of great freshmen for these two teams, but nowadays, especially the men, they are really loaded in that 24-25 class and that third down problem against modern times rears its ugly head again to catch him. that one after calling a fair catch at the 48 yard line, it's Derek Drayton, he was out last week and gets his punt return duties back as he does a great job running, that drives me crazy when I see a guy drop the ball.
He balances and ends up letting you know a plus 20 yards off the road. Drayton did a great job running forward and catching it and keeping some of that control with Anna downfield, who has more in Bosco's defense. Anna Steve, Bosco's defense came. off the field last time, Drive gave that six points to Elijah Brown today and the coaches said, "Hey, you guys have to talk to each other and communicate," there was a little bit of miscommunication on the route after that with that last play and stuck to the game plan, guys, and I have to say we've covered a lot of basketball games.
I have never seen this Bosco defense on this entire side line, so locked in and focused, Steve, thanks Anna, we will pay special attention to theadvance, not to that initial position on the field. day on his 48th, you see the three down linemen just moving around again trying to get to where Davison wants to run and Jordan Davison, the sophomore, closing in on 1,500 rushing yards, almost nine yards of rushing as the first carry of three yards there for the monarchs, yeah, it doesn't look like there's anything there, he's got three or four yards on every play, he does a great job, pushing the pile on the right side, Brandon Baker does a great job again, another freshman year only until 2024, but yes, right now.
Modern running game outside of the only series where they went negative getting four or five pieces almost every time, that's what you want second and seven from Bosco de la Zona's 49 yard line. Reed Davidson again crosses the hole and runs downhill for the 44 Peyton Woodyard the Junior knocks him down will be third and short. I like Peyton a lot, he's probably a top five safety in that class of 2024. He looks like just a college player right now if you look at him six, one, six, one and a half. and 195 very range but he will go down.
I'll hit you another third and short from Modern Day right third and two and we almost imagine at this point the way they run the ball, it's almost four into territory they don't have. get it in Third and they went 7-14 again in third Downs in that first meeting in the Santa Ana Bowl in early October, low blow and a handoff and run to the left that is a first down run and that's Davis again, Aaron Williams out of his cornerback spot takes him down, but a 10-yard gain for the softball and that was a great tackle in the open field by Aaron Williams, who is one of the more physical cornerbacks who is also going to Louisville, but I mean, I thought about whether Jordan breaks that tackle or cuts. field still running right now, first down at the 36.
Williams, a century transfer as well and a kid playing with a knee that will hopefully last the rest of the season from the 36 on First and Ten out the. the backfield goes Frazier and the handoff and there is not much room to run in the middle, which will be Davison again doing a lot of heavy lifting here in the fourth, they have so much depth in right back Davison and Asian Brian Nate Frazier, each equally good like the last guy, they don't miss much at all and that doesn't, you know, call Davidson, but you're bringing in Nate Fraser and he really impressed me a lot with his physicality.
I know he was fast over 10,700 meters. boy, but man, he runs harder than Asian Brian, it's just that you know, a little multipurpose joystick that runs backwards with the movement and the ability to make you miss an open field, you can put it in the slot and we say it has the motion. wiggle, he does everything right, yeah I like the way Asia plays, but the crowd wants him to throw it from his back, squat, oh what a great catch by Marcus Brown. Right between the cover, I think he hit it, dropped it, came out, yeah, my God. just the way the ball floated there I wasn't sure if that was, oh yeah, a good punch by Aaron Williams for an incomplete pass that brings up a third down.
Yeah, I thought Brown had a guy open from the start and then he looked nice. holding it up a little bit went over Marcus Brown got hit Brown doesn't drop many of them 36 receptions for 625 yards that would have been a great player right there puts him almost in the red zone Brown did a good job just fitting him into coverage there Mater day two of three on third down so far in the first quarter here's a run Davison waits a hole to smear Cut downhill to the 30. that will bring fourth down and four here, Bosco decision time 30.
That will have the intermission of the room to talk about it. I mean, I think he would try, obviously, it's kind of a no man's land where you can't really find him. There, the last play of the first quarter, one on two in the nation, is as good as advertised at the beginning, really reminiscent of the first time they played two months ago. We return to begin the second quarter after this foreign one, the Ford CIF South section. Game of the Week is presented by SoCal Ford Southern California Ford Dealers are proud to sponsor high school athletics built Ford proud of the Ford CIF Southern Section Game of the Week is presented by SoCal Ford Ford Dealers of the Southern California are proud to sponsor the high school Athletics made Ford proud earlier in the week the two teams at Monday lunch had the opportunity to enjoy the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame the high school hall of fame was will place here Steve quiz Greg Biggins Anna Conley with you seven nothing Today, after a quarter of play, they took advantage of a Bosco turnover on the first drive and then hit it for a score much like they did at the dance of Santa Ana for almost two months and it seems that the company is going to cross territory here. at 30 I have to try Bosco will apply pressure as they always do Elijah will have about a second to get the ball out quickly, he will look for a quick tilt.
I don't know if they'll try to run the ball, but me. I'm going to try to get them offside Jordan Davis Shin in the backfield and nine carries 39 yards on just over four yards of carrying in that first quarter and all the receivers are singled out at the top and oh Brown, he tried to deliver it. Well, Davis should move to the left and he gets beaten for a loss and on the fourth down Bosco will take over. I think it was Kamari House who didn't play and that first game he flew out on Perkins' behalf a couple of times, but yeah, there was definitely a miscommunication.
There, I don't think it was supposed to be Elijah running with that one, but a huge defensive position for Bosco, well, I was just going to say, did you notice how Davison moved from right to left before that snap and Brown should? I thought he was still on the right side, so they turned him around, no points. Clarkson played again, played a quick throw to DeAndre Moore and more fights until the 39th, brought down by Zabian Brown and they had to catch DeAndre. Increasingly on this right, his first touch on Oct. 7 came on a putback with 11 minutes and one second left in the third quarter.
The number three heading to Louisville only touched the ball four times and twice on kick returns on that first goal. and I'm so impressed by the way Zabin Brown comes downhill in a hurry and a great open field tackler inclined to be Andre. I have to think that will create a little bomb and continue later. Pierce Clarkson takes off, there was a was. an end to modern territory at the 45 yard line Delaney Davis with another stop yes I know Pierce is just as dangerous if not more so I don't know if that run was designed it almost looked like he was trying to go to the right Aiden Braylon was in his face, took it up the middle, great first down, probably his biggest play of the night so far, scored a 15 on first down to the 45-yard line.
Bosco didn't have many possessions in that first play, just eight. All in all, we're working on their third here at the beginning of the first half, this is Chauncey Sylvester now on the gun and Sylvester thinks about the throw and they open up for the reception at the 15 and a touchdown, that's Jamil McLean, who has been selected a lot. of people, including myself, wasn't sure what the ball was, but like you said, Jerome McLean Louisville to Louisville right there Clarkson and McLean and Big Time respond for Bosco, that must feel good to Pierce Clarkson finally threw a touchdown against the topical this season. was knocked out with a concussion in the first half didn't play the second half in October Revenge right there, yeah, it looks like a failed task because on the replay I mean, you don't even see a modern player on the screen, Marcus Lee, everything - important extra point and with 10 minutes and 41 seconds left in the half, Clarkson has his team on the board and as the claim advances in his sixth touchdown of the season, all tied at seven between one and two of the country, be it whatever St John.
Bosco ranked number two in the nation finally on the board here he comes with 10 41 left in the second quarter yeah very good route concept right there I think Marty got caught looking in the backfield called that little skinny post Pierce hits him McLean calmly lined up in the slot, he had no one on him there again. I think they expected Run to jump a little. I saw their eyes, already defensive back, I never wanted to mention a name when it comes to a negative play right there, but the modern one. The defensive back of the day set his sights on the backfield and enumu was where Hugo Fierce Clarkson was, a 64 passer throws his 27th touchdown and a 67 yard touchdown in three plays.
Drive that these two teams played a couple of years ago, he was the starting cornerback for Bosco, when he was just a second year receiver, it was probably his most natural position, that's where he's going to play in college, but it's a very good athlete on both sides of the ball. Marcus Lee now has a chance. Fonseca had the first kick. a whistle, he was offside, first penalty markers I heard, I love it, that it was a energetic first quarter, that the team had taken a five yard penalty earlier, a kick, the first two drives for Bosco, 31 yards, a punt on the fumble on the final drive with a 66-yard touchdown, so Jason Negro has cleaned up some things.
I spoke to him before the game in the locker room. He said I get nervous. I really do, especially when you're behind. You know the game flies when you're behind. You have to make the right decisions. and it feels like an eternity when you're ahead and if you're mother's day you're kicking yourself, you've been able to do well, you just drive down the field pretty easily and on their three possessions you've only got seven points to show right now, back it up. five yards to the 35-yard line if you kick it deep. The Asian Bryant and Nate Frazier are waiting for Marcus Lee's kick and it is Frazier who has it on the nine-yard line and tries to reverse it. field somehow Sports up to the 25 yard line we give it the 26 with its forward advance and here come the monarchs for their fourth drive of this first half first drive for Mater Dei they came out of the Red Zone and negative negative negative plays that last series , they had the ball at the 30-yard line and advanced in the Fourth.
They haven't had the kind of key drop by one of the modern receivers again, I don't want to mention an A, but they had a key drop that would have been a first down in the red zone, they've never been pretty good in the top 20 so far. In this one, the Monarchs have won 29 in a row all behind and quarterback Elijah Brown's last loss was on November 30, 2019. St John Bosco in the division one championship game and they lost that lead that the entire world talks, they called the play back, they threw outside the numbers and it's Colorado-bound Jordan and Novoy who have the catch and Marcellus Williams pushes him in. out of bounds a little gain on the first down, but they'll take the six or five or six yards there, yeah, the best 2019 high school game I've ever seen, Steve, it was one of those games where, If you weren't sure, modern times were going to get 28-5 and then DJ, I'm going to get hot in the second half and that's it, she didn't write anything for Davison, she runs into the first-year Dutch horse, the 238-pound freshman starting for St John Boswell, saw him over the summer as an eighth.
Undergrad comes in on Bosco, man, they're like dude, this guy would be one of the best defensive linemen, one of the best Edge attacks we've ever had here, they don't talk or exaggerate, they don't need to win basketball, but they say yes , we love this kid according to Jason Negro, he's only the third freshman to start in Bosco's defense in the 13 years Negro has been there, great third down play here, first down is at the 36 yard line that they obtained. to gain a little over six here to keep the chains moving the pressure is coming from the edge rolling out now Brown is being chased from behind and gets caught at the 30 yard line where Devin Brian Washington is tied up with his gear leading tackle 97 and none. bigger than that on third down not the biggest linebacker not the fastest yeah honestly Steve lets me know you're probably going to love this some Jacob Manu Vibes I mean he's that guy I think was overlooked a bit. a little bit, but he will play next year in Washington.
Devin Bryant, I'll call him right now. I'm talking, talking it. I think Jacob Manu was the Arizona Wildcats' nvp on defense, they only won five games this year, they beat Arizona. Today's status had a lot to do with it, here's the punt and Peyton Woodyard points out the cash just right and will have it back at his own 24 yard line today, running 15 carries 22 yards, let's check with Anna who has More information about what Bosco did. on Thanksgiving morning Anna, well Steve, both teams had a good Thanksgiving practice early in the morning, but I love this. Bosco had hisThanksgiving practice and all the dads were cooking pancakes in the back.
We had Big Dave ooh, the father of young Lalay Mateo tweeting about it. We had Marcellus. Williams' dad tweeted about it, cute little videos with the chocolate chips I vote for. I talked to Big Dave before the game and he's just the nicest guy and he said, "Hey, you had to put the chocolate chips in there." Thanks Anna on the first try, this is DeAndre Moore and they already have the senior Louisville bound or committed here in the first half as they have targeted him more again the first time around zero Goals in the first half against today, yes, I'm talking about those chocolate chip pancakes we talked about. for a second, but yeah, big ball, okay, DeAndre again, Zabian Brown with a nice open tackle, but man, DeAndre, he's going to break a man, you can tell everything so far has been short and Brown has Did a great job jumping those plays.
Look. for the hitch and that's it you just need a little bit man you get ahead of someone you won't catch them from behind reset the game clock to 8 22 8 22. They're going to reset the clock here to 8 22. a little bit more. time for the number two team in the nation 11 and one of the Braves their only loss was on October 7th now it was a 7-7 ball game in the fourth quarter and now they had the field goal and the touchdown to put it away late on the first down it's a great delivery bombs now he throws looking for more one on one coverage there with zabian brown kind of pushed him down no call I mean I thought Xavier did a great job on that play again no he did it I basically set up that play with the bomb and go, but he didn't bite, he ran right there, but DeAndre, who has a big punch, remember he got knocked out in the first game, did the modern defense, oh man, a little bit. contact, but you know what I am, I'm that guy just so you play through Ramire Davis, younger brother of Rajon Davis, former Monarch, current USC and man, Bruce is Coach Bruce and call him Bruce, Coach Rollinson, man, He said that Ramirez has really come. in the last four or five games of the year, that was a big hit for Pierce, second and ten, well, they bring the house and a quick little throw that's on the second and he makes his way to within 41 yards of the first . down this young man had a fourth catch on the last drive in October he had the two most important catches for the Braves he has six three six four and oh Clarkson got his Clarkson is leaving now and they will have to go back to Caleb Sanchez or this is the same script, Isn't it from that October game and I'm literally shaking in my head right after?
I know how much Pierce wants to play in this game and he was having a great game too, oh. He got caught again that time, it was Aiden Breeland, we saw a little bit of that last week against Los Al T, third and short for Sanchez, who replaced Pierce, he said, look there for the first game after Clarkson left with a concussion at the beginning of the third. The fourth is thrown, the back pressure comes and is met on the third call for a first down sack to move the chains up. The quarterback has to assume we're in the game right and Caleb throws a nice easy throw right there to Jaleel McLean on the first down.
I'm going to score that Clarkson comes out at the eight minute mark. Sanchez threw an interception on the final drive 10 down in relief of Clarkson in October, but he led Bosco that day to his only scoring drive, so in relief of Duty again. He has played a lot this season and he lets it go and that is going to be a loss of tone. I don't know if we give Marty enough credit for how good they are at the Run Nissan versus the low-selling meals last week and Damien. Henderson, who was facing everyone this year and didn't even get a chance last game, was hidden behind the line of scrimmage.
I think almost 80 percent of the time he had the ball. Chauncey Sylvester on his first carry of the game. He didn't play the first time he was out in a sellout to go to Santa Ana Stadium. His own 45 yard line on a second down and 12. Sanchez has to throw it away, he tries to set a little running back screen right there, but I am already very disciplined. Caleb is actually a very competent pitcher. I think we'll see next year when he gets a chance to be the guy who has a lot of use in that arm opposite Caleb won the pass from Long Beach Miller. in the boss tournament, but people say, well, that's getting through the tournament, yeah, we're talking about a guy who throws the ball so he can throw it, but Barney is very creative defensively to keep you with so many different looks that you never you feel comfortable in front of them.
Pierce Clarkson's lower right continues with relief Caleb SΓ‘nchez Here comes the rush the throw and more He dives back to make the catch but he's going to make it to fourth and long they'll only end up going out three yards They'll have to send in the punt unit and Marcus Lee comes out, so we write that down, Clarks, it just picks up steam because I feel like Pierce was and he was having a good game, he was executing it, I was sure he did it. some really accurate shots down the field will hopefully get him out again.
They only played in the first half of the first game. Lee makes it. A good high punt will be returned to the 19-yard line and a fair reception. Derek Drake. Last Drive Clarkson not only got hit once by Breeland, he was hit by Ramire Davis the first time, yeah I thought Ramire Davis' hit was a clean hit, that little leg roll WWE feeling I think . You're probably questioning that hit a little bit well and you're not, you're not trying to be disrespectful to a high school kid, but that was a little ugly, remember they knocked out Malachi Nelson, the five star quarterback, last week. for Lo Sal in the quarterfinal game, it was also Breeland, he fell and Breeland was on top first and Tim from behind the 19-yard line.
First play of this drive here for today, his fifth possession in this first half on a ball from 7-7. game between one and two shoot Jack Russell they are up near the first try marker canari house knocks it down let's see with Anna Steve Pierce Clarkson has been on the St John Bosco training table throughout this modern journey now my thumbs are away from him and the trainers, they are currently bandaging his knee, it's nothing crazy, maybe it's a bruise from Aiden Breeland's hard hit, but he gave me the go-ahead. I asked him if he was ready, you should see him back, thank you.
Anna feisty with a gain of 11. 30-yard line and they're running here, this is Nate Frazier and Frazier fell for a loss at the 29-yard line by Josh Lafotu, a 305-pound senior defensive tackle, Washington's initial commitment he leaned back. About a month and a half ago, in depth, both teams talked to other teams in the game against Madre and Bosco and they always said man, the difference is you know if they have one or two linemen, they have 12. and we have maybe three or four and their offensive and defensive line and they continue to bring in new bodies that weigh six, four and 300 pounds.
Batman 29-0 in his career has taken over as the starter, as a rookie quickly moved on. Jordan and no way stop the second catch Kingston official Villamo with a stop Marcellus was there too, they just ate that wide receiver screen. He is a very good defender under the guidance of Chris King, who is also in his 13th season at St John Bosco. I've only allowed 89 points all season, 17 of them came in the seventh round in October and there's Clarkson, hopefully they can take him out again as a king or become a king or he was very confident before the game and talked to him a little bit. from sitting on the bench and I think he felt very good about the game plan that they could make a great third here for the monarchs in their own 30. show him press Saint John Bosco from the left side by crouching, it's brown, it throw everything away and the catch is made by Davis and he moves away from a tackler on first down, yeah, that would have been stopped by about three yards, about three yards short of his first down and Davidson just shook off a tackler who got off the field and that It was a great pick up another three and four out and Mario actually got the first down on the first play of this series, but as soon as I could get the film he leaned into Bosco's defense and then John Davidson just shows what a special player can do, Trinity League Champions who blanked Lo Sal last week 52 to nothing in the quarterfinals most of the starters were out after the third quarter invasion and that will be Jalen Perkins, he will have to go out, it will be something like that Well, this is the problem they had. eight penalties the first time against the news, four of them were intrusions on the news before they committed the first.
An animal to open the game already had a first attempt due to consecutive intrusions. Jason said, "Hey, we're just a little bit." I was overwhelmed and my favorite class of all time was a sports psychology class, but they started to get overwhelmed. It's as bad as being flat on first and five just inside Bosco's territory at the 49. The right-handed fighter has another receiving fighter below the 45-yard line. The board came out at the 44. Very close to another first down modern and they're going to give it to you so move the chains here four minutes before the half yeah everything has been fast for modern times in terms of little rounds and throws so again you see that time and time again you're trying to get them to safety, just go up a little bit and then maybe try to hit it over the top.
Monarch is looking for his 13th. CIF Southern Section Championship, the baker's dozen here to keep Bruce Rawlinson's career going again and that's Spencer Shannon, he doesn't get too many sacks. Jacob Jack Russell, the wrestler, they've used him a lot here in this first half, yes, they're trying. features fighter Jack right now, obviously, and it's a good job on the ones below, stop them, put them in the slot, it's okay there, it's okay after the capture. Marcus Brown was the one who got loose first. I would love to see it. I'd say I'd love to see it.
Spencer Shannon introduced herself a little more. He is a great Target. Most receivers today are around five, nine, five, ten, five, eleven. Spencer, six, six, old Target, catch time, he

bowl

s right on the slant, again, he has to move up the field, now he's overtaken by Ole. Lack of commitment Jordan Lockhart will be three yards short of the first down, yeah, he keeps going up the field, gets the first down there, but he tried to cut it back to the left sideline and a little short right now and this. Again, this is kind of no four down territory again after modern days, so again we got a quick slant for the fighter space fastpitch and we keep moving down the field and you can see how Eliza Browns has 68 passes and 10 career touchdowns against Saint John Bosco, the fighter without interceptions goes. for the sideline after three consecutive receptions here is a handoff Frazier, he goes to the left and they stop him, how about that Jay Sean Fausto Ramos, whose way to Stanford comes in to stop, you have to do it right, you are at the 35 yard line ?
You have to try again. I think they expect to get a little more tired. Yes, he is an active man. He is one of the best, if not the best, nose guard in California and was the guy who took three of the encroachment penalties. in the first game but with the stop there he's got 10. Look at those big guys up front, they're all big if you're a nose guard, but the best other guy is a little bit. Nervous lateral movement, side-to-side movement coming in the middle here from the Rose Bowl. Joey back on campus, our CIF South section playoff scoreboard and then a look at Greg Biggins' top overseas recruiting analyst with 24 7 Sports.
I'll give you a hint: There are six top-ten players in the field here tonight, so don't expect either of these two teams to take a step back next season. So far, Costco has had quite a bit of success against Iran, keeping it current at 22 yards with 17 rushers, 128 yards, 11 basketball, yeah, you have options, right? You have to have Davidson if you want, you have a full backfield, you have a couple of receivers matched up one-on-one, this is nine guys in the Box last year against the poll with Quincy Craig, they give it to the Outback, it's not going anywhere On the other hand, they stop him on fourth down, Asia is not under my watch, says Tronio Weatherton, his seventh inning for a loss this season, Moscow has a good rhythm of what they are doing running the ball right now and again it is easy to see for me.
I think Asia cut the ball right in the teeth of that Bosco defense and look who came out, that quarterback giving the signals now for what will become of Bosco. fifth Drive, here's Clarkson back, so he says you know there's absolutely no way in my last year to get out of this, they'd be here at the beginning of October, not today, here comes The Rush Clarkson enters the shot and leaves . From Izzy Polk's fingertips, well that drop looks good, you seeshaking his foot a little before it seems like you have to think his ability to run the ball is going to be effective, but at least in that drop he looked comfortable and decisive. that's the main thing, Pierce has to be decisive with shooting, progress, protect the football, this offense has outscored their opponents this season 5 23-89, they are second in the nation, they were number one when we played The first time, they were defeated by 10.
The difference was today's 10 fourth quarter points on the second try. Clarkson gets rid of that quickly and the tight coverage of him when he is brought down by Neil McLean can't hold up. I think the sewer could have come in and hit CJ Lavender. just a freshman, it's been crazy, it's been really special this season, everything we've done right, we've called lavender third through ten, you risk bringing it back to the present here, 91 seconds left and another third below. and let's remember that they have a hard time against modern times on third down, yes, Ken Jones had a hundred yards last game and ran the ball with a little surprise, aren't they running the ball a little more or without a doubt, I thought going in . that would be the main point of their game plan and they are going to execute it here.
Clarkson comes out trying to get the first down. There is a penalty marker on the 45-yard line. It seemed as if he had tiptoed out of bounds right on the spot. line to win the 45. So that put the flag many times, it's a wide receiver, maybe a little bit of a wait that they call late, yes, this would repeat the attempt to generate a third down attempt in the same place. number 19. running the ball there so I kept saying maybe I don't have that option but oh yeah wait for Eric denim who is also a husky centennial transfer yeah I'm wearing like that I'm the guy that lets them play, but that was an obvious grab and it affected the play, just the ones I hate that are on the other side of the field that was literally right where Clarkson was running around the corner around the edge, it actually erases the first play because they're going to redo it. it's third down and ten back in the same spot, a lot of hitting practice at the 35.
This time they're running it Khalil Warren and he gets maybe a yard straight to Aiden Real and the junior has been playing well lately Elijah Brown and Company. It's going to get interesting here in a one verse two matchup in the country, he's going to have to throw that a couple of times early in the game, Demarcus Harris and they got away from Marcus trying to introduce the fighter a little more with the quick little throws best classes for Greg Biggins of all time okay so your best guys of all time bigan's top five here this is very hard to do it's very hard to make your phone explode since it actually ranked .
You probably have July's number one friend. If I had to rank him, but these two teams have so many guys, DJ Josh Rosen Wyatt Davis would probably be on my all-decade team as an offensive lineman and Bryce Trege doesn't get enough credit before Bosco became Bosco, just Juggernaut Bryce. he's part of their biggest national recruit, he went to Cal and loved the way he played, but yeah, those five guys, why, man, again, the two-way player, him and Rosen, Josh came into that list? Josh Rosen, yeah, it's funny, Brian follows Bryce's dad Rosen's coach. in a seven-on-seven Josh was an eighth grader said, hey, I've got a kid here, he's going to be the best quarterback we've ever had here at that time.
Rose, who is an eighth grader, so Brian Triggs tipped me off about Rosen. and it was definitely prophetic Marcus Lee is back ready to punt a false start so they're going to have to go back five yards here 25th offense five yard penalty for Pete fourth down Eric Drayton is back he didn't play last week because due to a injury, they put the freshman back in there and Corey CJ Lavender did a good job there, but Drayton came back, he's going to be a big kid tomorrow. They probably want to get to at least 20 in terms of field goal range to feel comfortable with that.
They kind of been stopped right at that 30 the last few times they went out, got rid of it, it's short and Derek Drake is going to catch it right at the 50, okay this is also really hard because this school goes back to the 50's right when First started flying yeah no he wasn't there but today's top five yeah again macro to good probably for me the best high school football player I've ever seen in my life, Bryce Young, probably the best high school quarterback, McCoy brother, two-way guy. Aman Ross, Brown himself and then took the last bite.
JT Daniels put Matt Barkley there, he put Matt lighter there and he put the next stromic there. I mean, the modern quarterback tradition is incredible for a long time, they've always had great linemen and yeah. That was a tough one. The drive starts here at 50. It is the sixth drive for Mater Day of this first half. They have 107 left to finish. A dead time. Elijah Brown just throws it to Davison. They catch him from behind. at the 47 yard line Mateo, what a young man slowed down the Dutch horse there at the stop, yeah, you gotta go fast right now, the clock is ticking, you probably want to save your timeout when you're a little closer to field goal range, yeah , but Dina. the longest this season has been 38 yards, Brown and shoots to the side, it's Marcus Harris with the catch close to the first down, they say he didn't go out of bounds, so the clock keeps spinning here with 30 seconds left. get a first down or it's a third and short so you gotta get that first down first Elijah Brown Brown rolls out and Brown gets caught from behind the ball came out but they're going to say it was down Kingston Villa muasa with a back stop yeah , but again you are missing the first one because the clock is ticking.
I don't know if Mario will take the timeout, but he'll let the clock go and we have a modern timeout. Nowadays I have none left and there are three seconds left until your soccer player kicks it. I mean, you're watching Elijah having to go through his second second third game six seconds into the incredible game. That's something I love about him. The way he makes plays outside of his box is really very rainy, yeah I thought that too, but I just enjoy watching Kingston play. I missed him last year, but yeah, Elijah's first and second reads aren't there, he's double hooking and looking for a guy. and he's like taking off and running and okay, the ball is at the 41. if you're going to kick a field goal here, it's going to be 56 57 yards left pad mark no, in a big stadium I can't do it, it's necessary Whoa the hell , just Hail Mary, yeah, but you know you care about the returning athletes too, like if one of the Williamses, the cornerback, made it and got into the open field, that this could be a great comeback, what a ball game between one and two. in the nation I thought it would be a low score.
There were people who asked me, hey, they're going to score more. I don't think so, honestly. I think both teams are very good defensively. I think it will be another low scoring game. I think whoever runs the ball, I think my biggest takeaway or my biggest surprise has been that Bosco didn't really try to run the ball, because obviously they went in with the game plan, we're going to get Pierce, we're going to get Pierce going. Pierce, let's get the passing game going. get DeAndre Moore going when we went into the half on October 7th in Santa Ana it was seven, nothing today, so they were the number two team in the national final, the score would be 17-7, 10 points in the last fourth for today, they were the difference, we're not going to let Medina kick it, so here we go, yeah, you gotta make sure Elijah doesn't take it, don't take a shot because again, when you're going to say hello to Mary, you gotta let let the receivers do it. through the countryside when those bosses go.
Defenders fly around and get a clean shot on your quarterback, so while we have a moment, let's revisit the modern era, beating St John Bosco 17-7 on October 7 in St. Hannibal, it was a 7-7 game . until midway through the fourth quarter Monarch scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to win and become the new number one. Bosco was number one and this left him out Davison, yeah I mean it really was a 10 point game but I felt like it was a closer game. and that's the touchdown that came very late in the game when you know Bosco seemed a little rushed and attacking the ball on that last drive, but yeah, just two of these two defenses.
I know we got excited and especially I said this might be one of Bosco's best defenses. Jason Black said this is probably his best Bosco defense of all time. Marty's defense has proven to be one of Coach Rollinson's best defenses and has been as good as Bosco all season. tied it 7-7 with seven minutes and 40 seconds left and Andre Medina kicked the 22-yard Chip Shot field goal that put Modern Day ahead 10-7 and Davidson scored late, all good, fourth down and six seconds left final before the middle of the game. Bosco has two deep safeties capping that box, little trick here too, maybe I'm talking I was thinking that, but I'll live to get another one down.
Bosco will do it because they deliver modern or no way and then Bach has it with two seconds left and I think he'll take me too, so that drive started at 50 looked pretty promising, you had a timeout and then you delivered it at Downs and currently, twice in a row you flipped it at Downs. The chess match comes in the second. Halfway through Steve's questionnaire, it's like we've been saying that these two teams do a very good job with second half adjustments and we'll probably see a lot of them and Bosco will get the ball to start the third quarter.
Play because as they take a knee they won the toss and elected to postpone Mater Day had three drives to end the first half and were dunked on Downs all three times how's that? Yeah, I felt like today I just got the feeling that they had a chance to put a little more points on the board, their units look promising. I like where they were able to get the ball over Marcus Harris and then maybe tight coverage, maybe double-team coverage, but they got away from Marcus Harris there, probably in the second quarter. Alright, Anna is ready with black Jason.
Anna, coach, at the beginning of the week you said that in this game you really wanted to control your plays and get into the rhythm that you have, how were you able to do that? We have done a good job. Good job, you know we had a turnover that hurt us on just one drive, but otherwise I think we're doing a pretty good job distributing the ball getting it out of Pierce's hand pretty quickly. We have to get the running game going a little bit. What can you say about this defense and energy? They are energetic on the sidelines.
You know we played really well the first time and I think we're going to continue playing well in the second half, but we have to get some momentum. offensively to keep them off the field a little bit, but I don't think we're going to get tired, you know, our kids are pretty motivated, they're going to continue to play hard, but we have to make some things go our way. and um you know the 7-7 ball game is a great game thank you coach bye thank you thank you Jason thank you Anna yeah you're right a well played game today jumped out to a seven nothing lead On his second drive, there were seven points. from a Bosco turnover and then Clarkson's long touchdown throw to Mclean to tie it midway through the second quarter, so in this one-on-two battle in the nation for what could be the national championship when it's all settled, the modern A7 St John Bosco 7 headed into the break, well foreign, we are with the best of the best at the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena for the CIF Southern Section Championship Luncheon, where the teams were invited, they are a victory of winning a ring.

The 2019 team had to lay the foundation for where we are today and the 2022 team just took it from there and kept pushing for our The entire community is behind our young people and as we continue to move forward I have learned a lot more about teamwork and leadership. I know it's quite common, but in my case I used to play basketball, that was my first sport and you know there was a lot of teamwork, but in football it's very different, you're bleeding, you're getting hit by them, you're getting hit with them, you know it's so much more and you have to be able to really embrace that and know that I'm doing this, I'm protecting my boy this way, my boy's life is on the line, telling him that everyone is really locked down and this is just what it's all about, this is what all those practices, all those early 6 a.m. all that is raised, everything is where it comes to hand.
One thing I have learned is how to overcome challenges and our coaches are always with us to overcome adversity. We have been working hard all season and off-season. and it's great to finally get what we're hoping to get done and hopefully get the championship in a modern day that is no doubt tough every day, you know, come to work when you're with the same guys for so long, right? You know? start building great bonds, great memories that I've created, so you know, that's something I'll probably miss the most. One of the things that is very unique about our school and our kids is that they come with the mentality of trying to get to a championship game and to be able to fulfill that promise and give them the opportunity to go out and win a ring is very special.
I've been a head coach for 20 years and I've been in that room. 10 times, you know, in 10 CIF finals and it's very special and every single one of them is better than the last time at the Rose Bowl. I mean, 52 years ago I played in this stadium and John McKay led us out of the tunnel. and I'm sitting here looking at it. I'm going to leave the monarchs out of that tunnel with our model that has always been: soccer coaches today is to put the team in the best situation to win the soccer game through our preparation. at 7 37 in front of Bally's baby, it's there, we had a great time honoring all the young men and women here today at the championship launch, you know where I'll be on Friday, right here at the Rose Bowl, we want to wish you To all the teams that are playing for a title, good luck and remember to leave everything on the field, oh, we have a game in the granddaddy of them all, don't go anywhere.
Greg and Steve will recap the first half in the next live buildup. uh oh later okay, okay, you can bet they're the best juniors in the state or uh, okay, okay hmm oh, look at my son, night guard, baby, yes, sir, six of those guys are here this night, yeah, it's a great game, uh, broadcast, okay, it's the best way to Look at Greg, you guys sound great. I'm glad we looked at that last game because it's just a mirror image of the turnover on the first drive. Yes, so was Clarkson's opening play. They came back and scored and then a live look.
Greg Biggins' manners here in Pasadena, that's what we have to do to get him to go out and play these games, what's that 14 rooms, it's like your backyard? I have a couple of those as good as those advertised in verse two in the country. It's tied after the first 24 minutes of football after the game Joey returns to campus live posts some coverage of the staging area. You can join us after the game on Instagram at Valley Sports West. We had the opportunity to be with him on the pregame show that provides our predictions so far, this one has been outstanding, almost a mirror image of what happened on October 7th in another Bowl, the Santa Ana Bowl, just south of Here, well, why do we have a moment?
There are many talented players. Anna was talking about that, you know, over 70 guys in this game with division one offers, a lot of them are coming back, by the way, so you're seeing a lot of the best Juniors bring us through your best Juniors here at Southern California, yeah, no soul, Elijah. Brown, not just in the southern section, to me, is the best junior right now in all of California. Brandon Baker, probably the number one offensive tackle in the entire 2024 class. Aaron Butler calabasa, we saw it before. Peyton Woodyard as safety and another third monarch. DeAndre Carter, the monarch. left tackle so as you can see Marty could be good next year too Steve I understand there is also a second page age and you and number six Ryan Pelham Long Beach Millikin Marcellus Williams Kingston millions from owassa.Xavier Jordan from Cathedral and Jordan Ross from Warren, so six stories total from Bosco and today and honestly, I moved on, there are so many different guys that have been Brown, he probably deserves to be on that list somewhere, just a loaded group for both teams and we could be back here next season doing exactly the same thing here.
I met so many young people. I am also in your quick thoughts. We talked about this being a mirror image. Time of possession has also been great early on. Nowadays, the modern era had it for almost 29 minutes in this first half, they had it for 17 minutes, yeah, just seven points, so I think that's for the Monarch coaching staff, you know what? Oh, for three of the four attempts that the Asian Bryant got. Things that people were probably wondering why your running back five eight instead of Jordan Davidson on fourth and two on that play. I think Bosco must feel pretty decent about himself.
It seems like he's fine and I think we saw him play the last time that defense. He seems to have figured out some things and offensively I would love to see them, maybe run the ball a little while you have Cam Jones, you have Derek Henry, the second man, give that guy the rock, okay, we'll see what happens in the second half one verse two for the fourth CIF Championship Southern section division one we are seven between the Monarchs and the Braves
