Second-Hand Range Rover Sport: A Good Investment?

Jun 06, 2021
do it guys, if you're like me you've probably at some point wondered if a

second

hand

range

rover

is a

good

investment

and look at it, that shape is so iconic, it looks so

good

and you can get them with similar mileage, this is it this. I've done around 50,000 miles for around £32,000 on Auto Trader so today I'm going to walk you through the car. I'll tell you about the interior, the exterior and how it drives and we'll see how it feels and you guys can make a decision if you want to buy one of these. Okay, before we get in the car, let's talk a little bit about the specs of this exact car, so this car is finished in Carpathian Gray, which is like a dark metallic gray, I really like it.

If you notice, this car is currently where many Range Rovers never see a bit of off-roading, it's very capable of doing that too, so let's move on to the alloys. the 20 inch five spoke alloys and I think they are 520 style, if I'm not mistaken and I really like them you can get other renos with lots of spokes on the wheels which I don't know you can get Personally I think it's a bit much, so let's go to the front and see what's under the hood. This car has the sd v6 engine which is a three liter twin turbo diesel engine and is sequentially turbocharged which basically means that at low engine revs a turbo will kick in.

More Interesting Facts About,

second hand range rover sport a good investment...

At higher speeds another will kick in to help reduce turbo lag and it does a pretty good job and this thing moves pretty fast, this engine makes about 306 brake horsepower according to the brochure. Let's move to the side too. There's also air suspension and an anti-roll system to help you take corners. If you know a little about old Range Rovers or have driven some of the old Range Rovers that used to roll like hell, this style, can we talk about i? I know and I just mentioned it. I think it's a beautiful style. The way the roof closes back is fantastic.

I really love this shape and the revamped version of this. Now I think it looks even better. They did a fantastic job. Moving around here to the back, of course it doesn't have the split tailgate that the larger Range Rovers have, but here you can see the HSE SDV6. I think the taillights on this one are great too. I'll show them to you some night. intakes maybe in the front and rear uh the lights look great we have two chrome exhaust tips here in the rear that look great on the newer ones they are square which I think looks good but You can tell they are something like that. like empty filler holes and they just sit in the body work and don't really do a whole lot.

Let's get in the car and I'll tell you how it drives some other similar features and features of the car, but for off-road use it's actually surprisingly good, probably not as good as something like a g wagon, but or a real defender, but it does a pretty decent job, so let's jump in and take a look at the interior keyless entry which is really nice if you have the key on you, let's go in, close the door and then let's take a look inside, let's turn it on, a little start button, okay, lovely, so what do they greet you with immediately. it's this huge beautiful leather steering wheel that is super nice it's the perfect thickness and it's not too complicated it doesn't have a lot going on it has these beautiful paddle shifters these are plastic but they're really big look at my huge

hand

s and it's still bigger than my hands for £55 you can upgrade to chrome metal ones which I think would definitely be a worthwhile upgrade because if you touch them all day you'd ideally want to take a look at the dials digital here.
It's actually really nice, considering it was like a first generation first iteration, like some of the first cars to have digital dials, they actually did a pretty good job, they're not too complicated, they don't really change, you can get a little of Saturn out of direction here in the middle, uh, they don't really change, so it's very nice, even in

sport

mode, they all stay the same, so let's take a look at the interior as well, so here we have a lovely laminated wood type . inlays which I think look really good, it's like a gray gray on black, which I think looks fantastic because I've seen other Range Rovers that have a matte plastic finish here and it doesn't look very good.
Honestly it looks a little cheap, these dials are very pretty and they also see little LED screens so if you want to turn on the heating, your seat heater press the button and turn like this, you can do that to turn it on and then turn it back. off and if you're cooling down you can do the same thing the other way which is really nice and the overall color scheme of the interior is black on some sort of cream it looks really nice I think all the seats are super comfortable. super supportive, you can fly all sides, they are super, super, super nice, I really like them.
Some things I don't particularly like are the infotainment system, so the other infotainment system in this car I feel very kind about. It's a little disappointing for a car in its price

range

, it's not that bad, everything works, it's there as you need it to be, but it's not very stylish or it doesn't look very, you know, visually appealing, like the weather, look at that. It just doesn't look particularly good, the satnav is fine, it'll get you there, but you know, it doesn't look particularly good, it's got that outdated graphic, so Google Maps on your phone is probably a better program, but I love it. the way it is embedded in this beautiful soft leather is really nice.
Another thing I don't like very much is the rearview mirror. If you look at it here, it has a very thick plastic border around it, so I don't really know, it doesn't give you a luxurious feeling when you look at it because it's very similar to my polo. It would be nice if they put it even as a thinner border or as a frameless mirror. It would be super nice, I think another thing is that the rear view mirrors are absolutely huge, they're legitimately the size of my head, so you get a really good view out and around that you're going to need in a car this size, same kind of finish continues here, it has this, everything is covered in leather, it provides great support, the seats are excellent, especially for long trips, so it is a really nice cabinet environment to be in, I personally think and I really like it, you sit very high. obviously being a Range Rover it has that presence which is really nice overall, this cabin I think is great, it's really nice to sit in and every time you get in you say 'wow this is lovely, something else'.
A little bit I want to add is the detection system. It has the default sound system that comes with the car. It has a lot of speakers, but it's not particularly good, so I would recommend it if you are interested and like to listen. music 100 update a I think it's harman kardon who makes the sound systems on these it's 100 a wise

investment

holy shit so I've been putting off recording this video for the last three or four days because we've had really bad weather here . In the UK it has literally been pouring rain for four days without a break, no breaks, so it finally cleared up a bit today so we can take this car out on the open road, which is a bit safer and I can actually talk with you about how it performs in conditions a little drier than out west because in the way it's not good for anyone, now the car immediately doesn't feel its way, the engine has enough torque and power to make this car feel since it's not two tons and you're not looking around this huge piece of steel it disguises itself quite well and the ride is very interesting the air suspension I feel like I've definitely felt a softer air suspension in my life but you can more or less feel it all a little bit the bumps in the road, but it's not very harsh, if you know what I mean, it's a bit difficult to describe, it's almost like a slightly firm air suspension, you can feel little inconveniences, but they aren't.
They are smoothing out a lot, that's quite nice and you have different driving modes. You can also have it in high access mode, where the car is raised and that makes the suspension a little stiffer, but it makes the car roll a lot. You really don't want to have that on the road even though it looks cool when you're sitting really high up. Okay, we're going to come out of an intersection very quickly here, so this will be a good acceleration for the test because This car is coming very fast from the right, so we'll put it in

sport

mode.
I'll put it in first gear and we'll try to get out slowly, no problem for us, that engine has a lot of power. I'll put it back on automatic. I could lower the seat a little. Yes, the engine has so much torque that I have noticed one thing in the engine and that is the turbo lag when you go from standstill to take off, especially if you are coming out of a junction, you will be sitting at the junction, you will say: "okay, this is "It's my time to go," you put your foot down and then for about a

second

the car will crawl forward, which is a little scary when you need to get out of an intersection really fast by going slowly and suddenly you're sucked into the seat, so there's a lot of turbo like right down there, but other than that there's really nothing you can do.
I don't really feel it in the middle of the rev range which is a bit scary so you're inching along and then all of a sudden it just goes in, that's the only turbo you really feel and the rest of the range The revs are there, the power is there as long as you want it, it's just that first little push and that can be a little scary, so that's the only thing this car has going for it, especially I would definitely go out and see if I can try it. . Drive it if you're interested in seeing one of these.
Another big thing, as we all know, with the Jaguar Land Rover and especially the Range Rovers, is that reliability is a big issue, so this car has 55,000 miles on it and I know the owner and he said there was nothing really wrong, except you have to have an electrical fault if you're going to own a Range Rover. One day he went out to open the car and it didn't open. He couldn't get it. All the power was dead to begin with, it was really strange, so they got the people out of the Range Rover Land Rover and they were able to fix it and it hasn't had any real problems since, so now we're in sport mode.
I'm going to put it. in manual so we can do the goose oh there's a ferrari passing well, I wasn't expecting that in the middle of nowhere here at this time of the morning, but you never know, it's a nice little gem we're just rounding the corner. I've reduced the torque it's making a lot and the turbo kicks in, so you still have a little bit of turbo lag on the top end, but 8th gear feels very quick, very responsive. The instantaneous change of the pull-up boom is very fast. I was driving a dual clutch transmission just before this and it feels almost as fast as that, going up into a little curve here, let's downshift, downshift again, it was there, nothing, nothing, nothing, here we go, so the turbos are kind of running, so it has a little bit of turbo especially low in the rev range, but then once you get up a little more, it's perfect.
I have 306 horsepower from this twin turbo diesel engine, it really moves like it really moves. Surprisingly, I didn't think it would move like that, but it's set up in such a way that it's a big, huge, comfortable road cruiser, but also when you want it to be, it can move, oh, there we go after 3 000, oh God. God, the turbo is running at 90. You also don't realize that the feeling of speed in this cabin is nowhere near the speed you're actually doing here. In a matter of seconds you're going ridiculously fast and it doesn't feel like you're just sliding across the top of the road your car has double glass all around so it does a great job of isolating you from the road and road noise this car is some good and some bad this car isn't designed to be a fast car, a fast car, so masking that sense of speed is probably a good thing because it makes things feel a little bit like a caravan, it just makes things feel a little bit like a caravan. little more elegant and correct here, another nice thing about driving a car like this.
The big thing is when there are trucks coming down the road in my little polo when I drive usually the air from the side of the truck when it hits you the car literally shakes a little bit like that when you go by the truck in this There is absolutely no problem, it sits on the road, it doesn't give and like I said about the windshield, the windshield is also like a magnet for things, it's so big and almost so flat that it literally gets in the way of everything. It feels like everything is absorbed by him.
I'm just driving and I hear myself say oh no, please don't tell me I left a little scratch mark on the windshield, like I mentioned before. The car has roll stability, which keeps the car from rolling too much, and like I said, if you've driven some of the older Range Rovers,They really used to lean when you take turns like this, which made you feel like you were on a boat or something which seems to make you feel a little sick, but this one actually plants itself a little better, it still does roll don't get me wrong, but it definitely has a little more stability and rigidity when you're recording, which is exactly what you need.
They've done a very good job with that. I love how friendly everyone is here. Ireland, if I feel like I'm driving around waving at everyone, no one waves back and just looks at me like I'm doing it here in the UK. You're waving at everyone, everyone's waving at each other, everyone's waving back, I love it, that's just how it is. a good volume if you are buying one of these second hand you may be interested in the fuel consumption. It has a big engine. A three-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, especially in a Range Rover. A car this size is like a brick trying to move forward.
Through the air, consumption has averaged a long term consumption of 30.3 mpg and the driver of this one doesn't drive very hard, but he wouldn't be afraid to put the pedal to the metal, so 30.3 I think is a very average. Well. estimate of what these cars will do, I think they'll always be around and no matter how hard you drive them, realistically you're not going to smash them all the time, so 30 miles per gallon isn't great, but you know it's not it's the worst thing ever, many three liter petrol engines get much worse mpg, so ok I'm going to take off down this lovely little road here, it's so capable of moving that it can disguise its weight and size so well They are very satisfying, especially if you leave the intersections.
More than enough power for overtaking makes you feel very confident on the road, which is a great quality. It is an absolutely tremendous car. It's fantastic. I would say it is the perfect family. car, if you are interested in getting it to appeal to everyone, it is very practical, there is a lot of space in the back, it is comfortable, it is great for long trips, I think you will be hard pressed to find something better, you could buy something like an x5 which would probably be a little cheaper but why not stand out and buy something a little more exciting than an x5 because the x5 will just fit in and blend into the road much more whereas the reno has much more road presence and you get it especially same as a q7 or um, actually they also released the x7.
It's probably a little later than December, but I still think this car is a fantastic opportunity if you're in the market for it. Definitely don't hesitate, at least go ahead, take a look and sit in one, let's see how you feel. Thanks so much for looking. I really appreciate it.
