2023

. Sawx sees the return of John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, even though he died 17. Years ago or seven movies ago in franchise terms, he appeared in Saw 4 to eight via flashbacks and cassette tapes that he conveniently recorded before his death, but he was left out of Chris Rock's blood spiral, only having a cameo in picture forms. The Spiral was the first movie I saw with a story completely divorced from John Kramer.

The first seven installments premiered literally once a year between 2004 and 2010. They form a beautiful, messy soap opera in which each installment adds to the intertwined web of characters. The eighth film, released later in 2017, circumvented the continuity that technically took place before all the other films and introduced a boring and unnecessary character. What we see again is Logan. I don't really care, but I saw X is Back to Basics and it takes place between Saw 1 and 2 before John. Kramer had his neck cut with a saw, although he is clearly older. If you're doing a side-by-side comparison, I'll happily pretend he's the same age if it means we get Tobin Bell in a starring role.

Bell is now 80 years old and gives an incredible Return performance as JN humanizing him more in a single movie than eight others managed to combine in my

er, say what. but Sawx gives you the Jiggyest perspective yet, exploring the character's inner emotions, my job is to bring humanity to John Kramer. Young John Kramer's protégé Amanda was a powerful presence in the OG Trilogy and her relationship with Kramer gives this film a beating heart Smith and Bell have 20 years of chemistry between them and Sawx wisely highlights it. He just wanted to see them together on screen doing their thing and showing their love for each other, even though it's a throwback. Sawx is also refreshing in many ways. He is calmer. and more contemplative, especially at the beginning, to the point that it may seem like a slow pace to some. I think it's beautiful and a great setup for the later Carnage.

It also takes place in Mexico, the first time that a soft film specifies its setting. I always joke that the series takes place in the capital city of the state, the change of setting is a breath of fresh air and gives us a nice taste of culture that It helps us stand out as our own delivery. I love the Saw series and I love it. I watched X a lot more than the previous three installments. It's got everything you could want from a Saw movie, including yes, lots of traps and deaths, so how about we finally feel it?

What the hell? John starts working on her ankles so she can hopefully get out of the way. Unfortunately, his Tarzan plan doesn't work. Since John programmed the radiation machine with comically perfect timing, she keeps going as she gets fried with every hit, accompanied by what sounds like hit indicators from a video game. I feel like she just sank five cannonballs into the enemy ship. Gabriel was the most physically complicated team for a trap and required constant testing until the day of filming under the supervision of stunt coordinator Daniel Salazar. Actress Vaka shared this harness trick with a stunt double.

She would do the forward-facing shots and then move down to apply progressively crunchier layers of burn makeup. While the stuntman was shot and filmed from behind, most of the film's effects are practical and VFX is used to do things like paint the platform's support cables while her skin actually starts to sizzle. Gabriella breaks her wrist and wins the game loyal to John. Word, the machine shuts down and tells Amanda to take Gabriella to a hospital, but that's when Parker breaks her rule and grabs her gun. It turns out that he is with Cecilia and that snake rewards him with a slippery tongue action that unlocks Cecilia, who is eager to get revenge on her.

She is amazing throughout the entire movie and is a great villain with a sick glee. She gets dressed. John Lond was cast after Grard saw her on the Norwegian show. She and Ragnarok were thrilled to work alongside Tobin Bell. Tobin Bell is a legend. In fact, you feel a little Star Struck when you first meet him. Cecilia sees that this trap was built for two, but she has a more evil idea than to tie Amanda up and bring him to me. kid since the audience would know that JN and Amanda can't die, Carlos was created specifically to raise the stakes and even Jigsaw thinks that's a disaster, a terrible unforeseen consequence.

It was designed to look like it would be at home in the previous movies, so you see a lot of rusted metal. You see components that you think John Kramer will be able to build.

That's a welcome. puzzle change that supposedly takes place before the other movies but uses technology that looks newer, a kind of Star Wars prequel effect, it was easy to avoid that, since they filmed in an old glass factory, it had no plumbing or electricity, but if. We come with a pre-existing production design. We had a lot of really strong hardcore machinery that was already here. They let us rust it and make it look like it was all rusted. Cecilia and Parker have seen enough, but as they collect their loot in the control room Parker points out a possible plot hole with John's latest trap, but if you were the last player who was supposed to be on the other side of that blank space with you, oh shit, I think I feel a Zep salute on the soundtrack. oh yeah, that's what you know, things are getting serious when we hear that flashback track.
