May 30, 2021
With the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra finally released, is it worth saving a little money and going for last year's Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra? What's up guys here at supersaf tv and that's what we're going to try to answer in this video by putting all of them? the key differences side by side supersaf style including some chamber samples so the

note

line and s line have never been closer and it's almost a point where many people are speculating whether we will see the next

note

s or not and This is because many of the features that make the Note unique have now also made their way to the S21 Ultra.

Initially, let's take a look at the design. Now I'm a big fan of the design of both and I think these are a few. one of the most attractive smartphones out there right now, I love the matte finish on these colors, although they are available in a few different colors, we also have some exclusive colors on the s21

ultra

from Samsung's website, but the camera module It's quite different on the s21

ultra

we have an updated design that blends into the sides and I really think it looks great now that's not to say the note 20 ultra looks bad it's just not as updated as the s21 ultra that we have premium.

More Interesting Facts About,

Materials in both devices an aluminum frame with glass back and both devices are IP68 water and dust resistant. Now let's look at the size and weight differences, so the s21 ultra is heavier compared to the note 20 ultra. It is also wider and thicker than the note 20 ultra. It's a bit taller though, they're both big phones, the s21 ultra has curved sides that don't really dig into your hand as much as the square sides of the bill do, but I think the bill is thinner and lighter. it is a little more comfortable to hold personally, let's now talk about the screens, so the note 20 ultra has a slightly larger screen because it is taller 6.9 inches compared to the 6.8 inches of the s21 ultra and we have the old Samsung infinity design with punch. and small bezels, I would say the bezels are more or less the same on both screens and both screens share a lot of similarities, we have dynamic amoled technology on both with quad hd plus resolution and 1500 nits maximum brightness

which

is absolutely amazing and both devices also support a refresh rate of 120 hertz, however, there is a small drawback: the s21 ultra is the first Samsung device that can run at 120 hertz with quad hd plus resolution at the same time on the note 20 ultra if you activate 120 hertz, it automatically switches at Full HD resolution, so you can't do both at the same time,

which

gives the s21 ultra an advantage.

We now have Gorilla Glass Victus on both devices, however, the Note 20 Ultra is curvy. On the sides of the s21 ultra, the edges are a little carved, but they are not close to the note 20 ultra. I think this really comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer flatter screens. Some people prefer more curved screens. Something we have on both devices is an integrated screen. fingerprint sensor, however we have the newer Qualcomm 2nd generation 3D sonic sensor on the s21 ultra compared to the gen 1 on the note 20 ultra it is now around 1.7 times larger and is also 50 times larger quick now it's hard to show this on camera but I've noticed that I've had less crashes on the s21 ultra and that's another advantage you get here on the newer s21 ultra compared to the note 20 ultra.

Now let's move on to the cameras and although they share some similarities, there are also many differences, so on the main camera we have a 108 megapixel sensor on both devices with laser autofocus, which really helps with focusing. Then we have a 12 megapixel ultra wide camera on both, however the s21 ultra has dual pixel autofocus on the ultra wide camera. We'll take a look at some of the advantages of that with some samples in a second and then we have telephoto cameras. The Note 20 Ultra has a single periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. The S21 Ultra actually has two cameras with optical zoom, one at three times and one extreme at 10 times.
I went out and took a lot of pictures with both and from the main camera in good lighting. Honestly, it's very difficult to tell the difference. Both work really very well. The s21 ultra maybe has a slight touch. advantage for dynamic range one area where I definitely noticed the difference was in low light conditions, the s21 ultra gives you sharper and brighter images in low light compared to the note 20 ultra and again for the ultra wide camera I think they both work really well. work in general but with the s21 ultra you get better dynamic range, however so far I have found that that dynamic range can be affected a bit with processing because it really brings out the shadows.
I hope Samsung can improve this with software. update and let's talk about dual pixel autofocus so having this on the ultra wide angle camera also doubles it as a macro camera and this allows you to get some really interesting close up shots that you won't be able to do on the note 20 ultra Not only does it have a cool mode focus, one of the issues we've talked about on the note 20 ultra is the fact that because the main camera has a very large sensor, it can sometimes mean that when you're close to a subject, things can start to go out of focus very quickly and you have a very, very shallow depth of field.
Samsung has tried to address this in the s21 ultra and if you get within 30 centimeters of a subject it will change. on the focus enhancer which essentially switches to the ultra wide camera to keep more things in focus and I'm really glad that Samsung listened to our feedback and gave us this option, you can't always turn it off if you need to and then we've got the cameras with zoom, so with three magnifications you will get better results on the s21 ultra because that is where the optical zoom camera activates. At fivex optical zoom you'll get slightly better results on the note 20 ultra because that's where the optical zoom camera kicks in, but at 10x and anything above the s21 ultra it really shines.
You can see some of these examples here at 10x, a much sharper image on the s21 ultra because it uses that dedicated 30x optical zoom on the s21. ultra again gives you a much cleaner and sharper result, actually quite usable here and then the note 20 ultra maxes out at 50 times the zoom where you still get better results on the s21 ultra but the s21 ultra can go up to 100 times. I've said this before, but 100x zoom, how often are you going to use it? I wouldn't say you're going to use it too much. Personally I won't use it too much.
I mean if a stalker then I guess you'll use it all the time but generally speaking you can zoom up to 100x it doesn't mean you have to do it all the time 10x is absolutely amazing on the s21 ultra and it's also one of the The best zoom on any smartphone, this is partly due to the zoom lock feature, so it actually locks you in when you're at higher zoom speeds. Every little movement. Know? Put the viewfinder everywhere so I really like that Samsung has also introduced software to make Most of the zoom on the s21 ultra for selfies we have a high resolution on the s21 ultra but generally speaking you'll be shooting at around 10 megapixels and a new feature that I am very happy Samsung bought for the s21 ultra.
It's the ability to choose natural or bright selfies, you guys have heard me complain about this many times before that Samsung devices tended to brighten selfies quite a bit which I personally am not a fan of, they have definitely improved this and I prefer the skin tones on the s21 ultra compared to the note 20 ultra, however the note 20 ultra gave sharper results in the test I did and sometimes when it came to colors of my jacket for example it was a little more accurate in the note. 20 ultra, although again I found better skin tones on the s21 ultra and I hope software updates tweak the s21 ultra's selfie camera a little more for video.
They both really take great quality video and both can shoot up to 8k 24 frames per second, but the s21 ultra can finally shoot at 4k 60 frames per second on all cameras on the note 20 ultra. You can only film 4k 60 from the front camera or the main rear camera. you have a lot of new software features on the s21 ultra, you have the updated single take mode as well as director's view which allows you to preview the different lenses before switching to them and also allows you to record from two cameras at the same time. Same time. something we don't have here on the note 20 ultra is due to the new processors that can handle all that extra information and of course we have the latest qualcomm snapdragon 888 or the exynos 2100 on the s21 ultra on the note 20 ultra you have the qualcomm snapdragon 865 plus or the exynos 990.
This is a bit complicated but I will try to break it down as best as possible so as you already know Samsung has different chipsets based on different locations. In my experience of using the Note 20 Ultra extensively in both variants, I found the Qualcomm version to be noticeably better in terms of performance and battery life compared to the Exynos version. However, Samsung has made many improvements to the Exynos 2100, which one is it? on the s21 ultra and this is the one I have right now my Qualcomm version is on order and should be here soon and I will do an in depth test in my long term review if you want to see that first and then be sure to subscribe and hit the bell icon but overall I think they are both great in terms of performance, obviously the s21 ultra with the newer chipsets will be better in terms of performance.
I think the claimed differences are around 25 better cpu performance and up to 35 better gpu performance, this is something I really think you'll notice in the future, maybe in a couple of years the s21 ultra will maintain that performance for longer compared to the note 20 ultra, one of the other differences you will find is the battery life is based on the chipset, so let me discuss my experience with the battery life, which again is quite complicated, but I will do my best to explain it. The first thing I want to say is that they both have excellent battery life. the s21 ultra has a larger battery size compared to the note 20 ultra but as always it's not just about numbers it comes down to usage and in my personal usage over the last week i had the s21 ultra, my qualcomm snapdragon 865.
The plus version of the note 20 ultra has been giving me, I would say overall, better battery life compared to the exynos s21 ultra, however the s21 ultra exynos version gives you better battery life. the battery compared to the note 20 ultra excel version, this is starting to be super. Confusing, I'm sure, but I've actually covered the differences between the Exynos and the Qualcomm Notes 20 Ultra in my in-depth review two months later. I'll leave it linked in the cards and description if you want more information. I'll be really interested to see what my battery life is like on my s21 ultra qualcomm snapdragon 888 version as soon as I get it and of course I'll update you guys.
Both devices support 25W wide charging, but there is a catch. One problem: you don't take the charger out of the box on the s21 ultra. This is something that has been very controversial. I've talked extensively about this on my podcast. I'll leave that video linked on the cards, but Samsung really made fun of it. from Apple for not including it and just a few months later they now don't include it with the s21 ultra so you may have to go get it separately if you don't already have one at home, the note 20 ultra. I'm sure Samsung will stop including a charger with any new purchase, I don't know yet, but currently if you buy the Note 20 ultra it will likely come with a charger out of the box, both devices have the same charging speed 15 watt wireless and both devices also have power sharing reverse wireless charging where you can charge other devices on the back of them.
Now one of the reasons why the Note 20 Ultra has a smaller battery compared to the S21 Ultra is because it has a built-in s pen, the Note series is obviously known for the s pen and it's something I find super useful and use all the time; However, this year Samsung also bought s pen support for the s21 ultra and as a fun fact, you can use the note 20 ultra's s pen on the s21 ultra is pretty cool, but there are still some important things to have consider. First of all, of course, the s21 ultra you will have to buy separately, it is a little larger and because there really is not one. any space in the case of the s21 ultra to have the s pen you will have it included with a case now that case will obviously add more size to the already large s21 ultra something that you should take into account and the s pen base does not have bluetooth the note 20 ultra the s think thatIt is included and has Bluetooth and allows you to do some really interesting things.
I'm not talking about just shaking the s pen like you're harry potter, but there is one thing that Using the s pen remotely is to activate the shutter button, so you can just press it and it will take pictures. It's definitely useful if you want to set it up and take a group photo or something. Now there will be the s pen. pro that will arrive later in the year and that has bluetooth, we still need to find out more information about that, that it will be compatible with both the s21 ultra and the note 20 ultra.
Now let's talk about the software. Both have Samsung's unique user interface. In addition to Android, my Note 20 Ultra has now been updated to a 3.0 UI, bringing it in line with the S21 Ultra. One of the things you will have to keep in mind is that the S21 Ultra will receive updates for a longer period of time. compared to note 20ultra because it is the newer device we have stereo speakers on both one on the earpiece and one on the bottom both sound absolutely great to me I can't really choose one or the other and both devices also support ultra broadband technology and this will allow you to do things like use your smartphone as a contactless key for your car when other products are available.
The Note 20 Ultra has MST support across the board, but some S21 Ultra units do not have MST support. MST allows it. your phone to work with point-of-sale terminals that only support old-school magnetic stripe cards. Now I'm not sure exactly what regions this will apply to, so it might be worth checking with your dealer if mst is important to you, the s21. Ultra, however, is the world's first smartphone to support hyper-fast Wi-Fi 6e, which can be up to four times faster compared to standard Wi-Fi. You'll need a specific router for that; However, let's finally talk about storage and price, so both.
These are available in three different storage options: 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes; However, the Note 20 Ultra gets a big advantage here and that is that it has a micro SD card slot, so you can expand the storage by practically another terabyte. you can get around 1.5 terabytes on the note 20 ultra, something you can't do on the s21 ultra because that micro sd card has been discontinued, so if you're someone who absolutely needs a micro sd card, then clearly the note 20 ultra will be the choice for you, do you like how I left this a little later in the video so you don't turn it off right away?
But anyway, let's also talk about the price, so the s21 ultra actually has a lower price compared to what the note 20 ultra was launched however, with the launch of the s21 ultra, the note 20 ultra has already started to drop in price. I looked at it online and in the UK I saw it for around £900 in the US for £1000. I'll leave some Amazon links below if you're interested. One thing I should mention is that on the Note 20 Ultra in the UK it actually starts at a base 256 gigabytes, while in the US it starts at 128 gigabytes. One of the reasons for this is that we have the Exynos chip here, which is not as powerful as the Qualcomm chip that is in the US, but something to consider on the s21 ultra is that if you currently pre-order, Samsung is giving you the Galaxy.
Buds pro and a smart tag are included, both are around £250 together so it's actually a good deal and based on that package I'd personally go for the s21 ultra. Yes, you may need to purchase a s pen separately if so. It's something you want and you may also have to buy a charger separately if you don't have one, but for me, having the updated screen, updated internals, and additional camera features just makes the s21 ultra an option. a little more attractive at the moment, having said that the note 20 ultra will inevitably continue to drop in price and you may get a very good deal for it and the note 20 ultra is still a really good device, my sim card came out in this moment and I went straight to the s21 ultra because the note 20 ultra has been one of my favorite devices of the last year and if you want to buy it right now, I don't think you will regret it, it is a very, very capable device and it also has a micro card slot SD in the included charger out of the box, but that's what I think anyway, what do you guys think?
