Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra REVIEW! | The Tech Chap

Jun 01, 2021
Hey guys Anton, Tech Jackman, that was my attempt at a cool intro transition, but anyway, I'm here with this guy, the new Samsung Galaxy S 20 that I've been using for a few days. I want to give them my type of extension. first impressions after having used it for a while but you might be wondering why I'm not giving you my full

review

yet because some people are posting their full

review

s but there are a couple of reasons and the first one is actually a bit annoying because I went through everything yesterday going around my local cities to get some really good photos of this iPhone 11 pro on the pixel for excel for an awesome camera comparison, but then I saw the news that apparently Samsung will be updating the camera firmware on this one in the next few days already It will be available in Korea, but I don't want to create a video that is outdated as soon as I post it or worse, give you the wrong impression of this phone and also how it compares to other types. of high-end flagship phones, so I'll throw it out and do it again when the update is available and kind of question the people who are posting their full reviews that this camera right now is not exactly what it will be.

When you go buy it and use it yourself in a good way, hopefully it will improve the autofocus and I also found that there are some problems with softening faces, especially in portrait mode and especially when using the

ultra

wide angle lens. the other reason is the battery life because when the pixel 4xl and pixel came out initially everyone was saying how terrible the battery life is and it's true it was especially at launch and it's still not great now but most importantly it's just that it's gotten better over time, I'm probably getting an extra two and a half hours out of my pixel now than I was six months ago or when it came out and it's the same with the s20

ultra

or any modern phone and you can see here.

More Interesting Facts About,

samsung galaxy s20 ultra review the tech chap...

I have seen your battery settings and device care, if I touch the battery it says to learn usage pattern, so over the next few days, weeks and probably even months the battery will continue to improve and that is why along with the camera upgrade and also just because I'm getting used to using it, I want to postpone my full review, so after that rather long and confusing introduction, what is it really like to use the s20 ultra well? I can tell you for one star that I upgraded my Pixel 4 XL, which I've been using as my primary. phone for the past get ready for the last few months for the s20 ultra because it's pretty much across the board, better phone, we have a bigger 5,000 milliamp hour battery, we have a new processor.

I've got 12 gigs here, 128 of storage and also a stunning 6.9-inch 120 Hertz AMOLED display that is simply stunning whether you're watching movies, YouTube videos or just browsing and enjoying that smooth motion. I think it's probably my favorite screen on any phone right now, so let's talk about that high refresh. Well qualify what it really means if you have ever used a high refresh gaming monitor then you will have a good idea but essentially the screen refreshes itself 120 times per second instead of 60 times per second on a normal 60 Hertz phone , etc. Whether you're browsing like this or opening apps, everything feels much smoother, it really is a big difference, and while the compromise right now is that you can't use full WQHD plus resolution at 120 Hertz between the two, I'd always opt Because of the higher refresh rate, it's much more noticeable than the extra sharpness you get with the resolution.

Now the interesting thing is that when we look at other upcoming phones like the oneplus 8 for example, they tease that we'll get full resolution and 120 is the best of both worlds, so maybe something is holding that back for the note 20, but also There was a good reason for this battery life because from my testing so far the difference between 60 and 120 is about 25.% of your battery and while the five billion power cells in this are relatively very large For a phone with that huge 120 Hertz screen, battery life is pretty good, but not as amazing as you might think.
I've heard that Samsung is planning to release an update for this that will dynamically adjust between 120 and 60 Hertz, a bit like Pixels 90 to 60, depending on battery life, so that would be a welcome change because it shouldn't having to jump into display settings to change that yourself, that should hopefully be coming soon, speaking of gaming, well I don't think this is the best gaming phone in the world. I think the Asuza ROG Phone 2 still has that title because of its air shooters. and its range of accessories, although the s20 is more powerful with the new processor and graphics, playing something like call of duty mobile on this one looks absolutely impressive, since I say that huge 6.9 inch screen and, to be

tech

nical just for a second, we have got UF s3 storage, we have the new lpddr4 from Samsung, much faster, my ram, this is the first phone that comes with we also have the new processors with 125 screen, Android 10, 1 UI 2 from Samsung, that combination of hardware and software is probably the most powerful phone in the world right now, although I guess you'd probably expect it to be for £1300, unlocking the s20 is pretty much the same as before, we've got the same ultrasonic reader of fingerprints than the note 10 plus, which is fine, but it was Hoping to look, we welcome the new 3D stitching maximum that we do, which they presented in December and then we have face unlock, but there is no sensor yet infrared, so it's definitely slower and less reliable in low light or at night with both, although it's worth it.
Register your face or finger twice for greater accuracy. One thing I had to turn off right away was that Samsung daily, its little newsfeed to the left of the home screen, takes a few seconds to load each time and is a bit annoying, I wish. It was Google's news feed instead, but you can always just pinch and then tap a little switch at the top right to turn it off. However, I think my favorite new feature and it's really just because Android 10 is the improved gesture, so previously if you wanted to go back you would have to swipe up from the bottom corner, but now you can swipe from the edge to go back and we have a huge screen like this, just being able to swipe from anywhere to come back is very useful in terms of the actual design, can't say I love it, it looks a bit industrial, the ultra comes in black or a very boring gray color, so which are both a little boring, and then we have this huge camera module. dominating the back I mean it's functional and I always appreciate that feature in a way, but it's not the prettiest phone.
I'd love one of those pretty colors we had on previous phones, but I guess if you put a case on it. So who cares, but when you first pick it up you really get the feeling that it's a big phone and it's also pre-thick, measuring 8.8 millimeters and weighing about the same as the iPhone 11 pro max, although in reality, we're getting a much bigger screen here similarly, but from the front it's absolutely stunning, as I say, with those super slim bezels, the title hole there, which is smaller than on the Note M plus, and also the curved screen , which is something a lot of people love or hate, can sometimes cause damage rejection issues on all phones, the curved screen isn't as pronounced as it was on the S 10 or the STM plus for example, but overall I think it's the YouTuber cliché.
It feels good in the hand, although it is quite slippery, so I would definitely put the case on. I may be a fan of this, which would actually definitely help with the sizing. It is also 5g and supports dual SIM cards with the second SIM. The card tray doubles as a micro SD card tray if you prefer to expand the storage, which is actually one of my small complaints that having 128 gigs of storage for the base model of the Ultra seems very stingy to be honest, but if you do. If you have a lot of money, you can buy the model with the highest specifications, with 16 GB of RAM and 512 of storage.
First impressions of the camera are good, as expected, but they're also not all that surprisingly out of this world, perhaps at a space zoom. or Samsung, I might be led to believe some marketing, although like I said I can watch a full camera comparison video while I'm waiting for that update so I'll check it out properly for my full review when we get the update we get the standard major. lens we have the ultra wide angle, we had a telephoto lens with digital zoom up to 100 times, as well as a 3D time-of-flight sensor that helps provide a more realistic bouquet of flowers in portrait shots and also helps with augmented reality, in addition We get a 40 megapixel front selfie camera, so you've probably already watched a billion videos on the S2000.
The things that caught my attention and the first thing I noticed was that I couldn't find the natural focus portrait mode in the camera app, usually it's right there, but they've actually hidden a bunch of camera tools in the more tabs, then you can add, delete and move all the different camera modes, so Ultra HD has a one hundred and eight megapixel main camera, but by default it uses something called pixel. bend to combine nine pixels into one to end up with a very high quality, reasonably sized 12 megapixel image, but what you can do is if you tap the little aspect ratio icon at the top, you can change it to the full 108 megapixels if you want the high resolution it's the same with the front camera, in fact if you go up to the aspect ratio you can also go to 40 megapixels if you want that full resolution selfie, all the f-22 can now record 8k video , which is nice.
It's actually crazy, although the downside is that it's only at 23 frames per second so it's a bit jittery, the stabilization isn't very good and unless you're Mr. Moneybags with an 8k TV where you can then stream it and watch it completely natively, there's not much reason to do that, yes you can reduce it, but I think that's fine, it's easier when it comes to file size, the best capacity, but we'll see some processing, such Maybe the updates will improve it too and it's a great concept. However, one of the most important and exclusive features of the ultra is this 100x space zoom, so we got a fourx optical zoom, a tenx hybrid zoom and then even up to thirty times it still looks pretty good, but then you can do it up to 100 times and I mean, it's impressive that I can barely see that with my eyes, but the image itself is very low quality, almost cartoon like I don't know why you ever end up using that unless you try look at what gate your flight is at and the departure board and you're about half a mile away, something like that, but up to thirty times even up to fifty times is actually very impressive in this hundred times canopy trick.
I don't know why I would even use that and actually for some reasons I'm thinking that the standard s22 even the s twenty plus may be the best option because well this is a huge phone and I think a little uncomfortably big for many people, the S 20 and 20 plus are cheaper, more compact, yes, it doesn't have that space zoom, but I don't think so. anyone really needs that, but we still have similar specs. 120 Hertz screen. That said, well, I think a hundred times it's a trick. There are a few reasons why you might want to go for the ultra size and not least the screen size if you want a larger screen for multitasking to have a more immersive video or gaming experience that there is nothing like. this and also the five thousand milliamp hour battery, although it obviously has to deal with that larger screen.
I think we will get a better battery. life on this vs the other phones and finally we have that 108 megapixel main lens and the 40 megapixel front camera if you want the best and possible and money is no object then I think the s20 ultra definitely is so Be sure to stay tuned for my full review coming soon, as well as my comparison of all-new cameras once the update arrives. Of course, there will always be new updates for all phones, but I think it's fair to judge the camera by the software it has. you guys would be using the retail model of when you actually buy one for yourself, relevance or pre-release software that then means nothing once it's updated, so make sure you subscribe and stay tuned.
