Were they fans of the movie? I mean, I guess they were probably with you during filming too. -They were. I mean, it was her interest in Barbie and her disinterest in Ken that started all of this. -Yeah. -And, you know, they've obviously been my... It's really been a team effort. And they were in the movie and came to the set when I filmed the number. But it's also been like a lot of this has no context for them. You know, it's like there are a lot of fake tan stains all over the house. Yeah, if you take a nap on your couch, it's like, oops!
Yes. -So I wanted them to come to the dress rehearsal

just

to give some kind of context to what had been going on. -Yes, because they are still young. Are they like 9 or 7? -7 and 9. -Yes, have you already seen big concerts and shows? -No. That was it. -You were the first. It's great to see dad. -They know all the choreographies better than me. You're

hosting

"Saturday Night Live" this weekend, this Saturday, for the third time.
You are a great host. You're a great guest star too. -I haven't slept for three days. -You have not done it. I know right? You have to stay awake because... -Help me. -...is live. You have to get up. You have to be awake. But I read somewhere that Greta Gerwig saw you on Saturday Night Live and said, "Oh, he's perfect for Ken." Like a sketch you made or something you did on Update. -Yeah. This Alex Moffat wrote this sketch called "The Guy Who Just Joined Soho House" or something like that. -Yes Yes. Yes, I remember.
You were that guy who just joined Soho House. -The first line was like... like, "Sergeant Blackout reporting for booty." -Come on. That's a great line. Good job, Alex. -Alex Moffat. -That's a good phrase. -Who would have thought that Greta Gerwig was watching that saying, "That's my Ken." -Yeah. And it was just perfect. And now that you're back on the show, for the third time, are you a little less nervous? -Thank you Alex, you put me to

work

. Thank you. -Are you less nervous now that you're doing it for the third time? -I'm more nervous. -Are you?
Yeah, well, because now I know. I didn't know before, now I know. Don't go, you know? -You already know what it implies. -“Now you know”, you are very John Lennon, “now you know what you don't know”. So deep, yes. But yeah, I guess you know what it entails and all that. But up there is your loved one. And they got great writers and a good cast. -But I think I laugh too much and I try... People compare, they always say: "You and Jimmy always laugh." -Oh no. Oh no, I can't help it. I'm wrong. -How not?
I guess you're not the right person to ask. -I'm laughing right now. I can not stop laughing. -But how do you do it? -I don't know, you know, I'm the worst person. I feel really bad when I do a skit because I think it's funny. I say, "This is so funny," and they say, "Yeah, but you can't laugh. You're in the sketch. You can't laugh." I say, "I know, I know, I'm sorry." But I do not do it. You don't do it on purpose. That's the thing. -No, but they take this comedy very seriously. -I know, but also...
But they also know when someone is a good sport and a good laugher and they go to the limit to make you laugh and make you laugh. That's the problem between you and me, because we laugh easily. Then people like Will Ferrell attack us. -Yeah. -They know we are going to laugh and they simply do something that will make us laugh and break. We do not want. You're not going to go in there saying... -Kate McKinnon, she's... -Oh, my God. -She is vicious. -The alien sketch. -Yeah. It's... Come on. -No, it's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. -I dare anyone not to laugh. -I think just go and do what you're doing.
Whatever you're doing is

work

ing pretty well for you. I think you are doing very well. So. Yes. Good luck. This is going to be good. I have to talk to you about your new movie, "The Fall Guy." "The Fall Guy", this is incredible. By the way, it's getting excellent reviews. Congratulations on that. -Thank you. -It has heart, it has laughter and action, action, action. Can you set it for everyone? -Well, I think that above all it is a love letter to the community of specialists. You know, these are... I started out on a children's TV show, "Young Hercules," and I've had kind of a double my whole life.
And there's always been this weird thing where they come on set, they do all the hard things, they take the hits for you, they risk more than anyone else. And then they disappear into the shadows. And everyone pretends they were never there. And it was all... You did it all. And it's just very. -You take all the credit. -You get all the credit and they take all the hits. And it's a very strange dynamic. -It's interesting, yes, it is. -Then that ends here. -Yeah! That's how it is! -Enough of that. -That's how it is. Acrobatics. -Enough of that. -We need you. -So this is a movie about a

stunt

man who tries to help his ex-girlfriend, played by the incredible Emily Blunt. -Oh my gosh, have you ever worked with Emily Blunt? -I had never worked with her before. -Oh my god, she's great, man. -She is unflappable. -She really is. -She can't be spanked. -No.
I think that's what that means. Yeah, I think that's what that means. She can't be spanked. -She can do anything. There's nothing she can't do. She is amazing. And she's so... She's almost so calm that it's a problem. For example, on set we had this kind of monsoon in Australia. It was something like that. I may be exaggerating too much, but it was a lot. It rained so much that they evacuated the set. -Oh Lord. -And some of the trailers were starting to float away and I was like up to my knees. And I saw that Emily's car was still in front of her trailer.
Then I ran to the trailer and opened the door. I was like, “Emily, you have to go!” And she was meditating. -Wow. Wow. She-she had Headspace on and a little candle, and she said, "Ryan, I'll be fine." -And she lifted the trailer with her senses. I was like, "You're too calm." -"You are too calm!" -"You are too zen." If that's a thing. -Oh yeah. You couldn't... Yeah, she's unflappable. But you work very well. She can't be spanked. No. This movie, though, you guys are... There's great chemistry. And I will say, obviously, you're expecting it, but the

stunt

s are incredible.
Thank you. Records are broken. -Is there actually a broken record? -Yes, the... -The cannon rolls. -Yeah. The record for most cannon shots in a movie. Logan Holladay does 8 1/2 reels in this film. -Can you explain to me what a cannon shot is? -Not very well. -Well. -Canyon. -Is it like flapping? -The bottom of a car, send this thing, like, up... I have a clip. Can I show you? -Yeah. -Yeah. Let me show you this record... A behind the scenes clip of the stunt. Here's Ryan's stunt double, Logan Holladay, breaking the world record for most cannon shots. Look at this. -Action! ♪♪ ♪♪ -Logan is good. -I knew he did a lot of things.
I have no idea how many. But I had a pretty good feeling that we made it. -Logan Holladay is being recognized by the Guinness World Record for the most cannon features in a car. -Oh Lord. 8 1/2 rolls and were you planning to make 8 1/2, or were you just hoping for the best? -The record was 7. It stood... It was in "Casino Royale", so I was aiming for 8 1/2 spins. -This is what I really found interesting, it's like in the movie, you come out of that roll and he hugs you. -Yes, no, he ties me to the car for a trick he is about to do.
And then he breaks the record, and then he pulls me out of the car and pats me on the back for a trick he just did. -It's so meta. -And in any other movie, you would never know that. But in this, yes, and that's why I love this movie. It's very meta, it's very fun. It is very well done. Everyone will love it. In fact, you did some of your own stunts and we're about to show here that... Yeah. Do you want to set up this clip? Do you know which one this is? -Well, I'm afraid of heights.
You? -Yes, more or less. Yes. -What's happening? -Like right now I think I'm very high off the ground. Normally I would sit here. Yes. Yes. That's a little like... -How do you feel when it happens to you? -I can't even make those virtual glasses. I'm like, "Wow," it's just that you get dizzy and I'm like, "I can't do it." -Yeah. -I don't like. I don't like it, so if I choose, if I have a choice, I don't do it. -I feel like my body is turning into stone. And so they set this up at the beginning of the movie, where I have a long, almost like...
I think it's like a 10 minute one and I go... I'm talking to people on set, and then I go up in an elevator and we go up. 12 stories, and then they take me down 12 stories at the end of the shot. And I was so scared that, as you'll see in the clip, I put on sunglasses for no other reason than to hide the fear in my eyes. -See if you can see Ryan Gosling's fear, everyone, here's "The Fall Guy." Have a look. -Imagine that. After this, you and I could be on the beach somewhere in bathing suits, drinking spicy margaritas and making bad decisions. -You're good to go. -Imagine that. -Everyone calm down, please. -Are you OK? -Okay, let's take him to one. -How are we doing up there, Stark? -Excellent.
He's fine. Here we go. In position now. He is in some. He way of leaving the line for me. -Three. Two. One. Action! Action! Action! Action! Action! -My God, friend! Buddy! Come on. I respect! Respect, that's what I'm talking about! Ryan Gosling, everyone, “The Fall Guy,” hits theaters and IMAX on May 3. Check him out this weekend
