Curry Hammock State Park is 1,000 acres between Key Largo and Key West, some of the most beautiful wilderness here in the Florida Keys. Our place is 45. to 50 a night depending on if you book one night or spread some of the taxes and fees over a two week stay, so 45 to 50 a night is expensive for us because we like to stay in the range 20 to 30 dollars. per night when we can be prepared to open your wallet. I think we paid just over six hundred dollars for two weeks here with all fees and that officially makes it the most expensive place we've ever camped at and that's a plus.

Definitely nice long camping spots with 50 amp electric and water, plus there is a dump station, this is a good security feature, key access code, only one gate to enter the park at all hours, so it keeps everyone out of the RV park or campground area. That's supposed to be in the day use area, so it helps reduce traffic and of course, again, campground security there's almost no availability at the last minute. You can keep checking the website and wait for it to appear in a couple of days, but I really have to plan ahead and those of you who know Sheree and I don't normally do that, so 11 months in advance you can start booking, like this Let them plan that trip and write it down, and if they have to cancel, I think there is a small cancellation fee or change fee so you can change your plans, but you have to pay in

when you book.

I did, wow, that's a perfect topic for going out in kayaks today, you just couldn't wait, huh, we decided to take out our kayaks for a little adventure through the mangroves. The park ranger told us about a mangrove tunnel that you could kayak in, but it was difficult to find because there was high tide and it is a bit hidden. We're at high tide and they were saying that's the time to move on, I guess. the man cave grows, but then the mangrove tunnel should be around here somewhere, what did you call all this undergrowth? We're getting a sargassum, sargassum, oh right, that's where it originates and apparently Christopher Columbus was the

first

documented to go through the sargassum sea and there are over 100 species that they depend on and thrive well, this must be something to around the corner, here you found it, we went to bed, wow, some cool birds there, yeah, this is going to be pretty tight, well, initially it's like you.
We still need to be able to kayak. Gosh, I guess you'll have to put the oars down and push with your hands if you have to, but here's the bridge to enter the park. Let's be a low bridge. What's that? There is a crab. hanging right there wow, this is crazy, uh, kinda like uh, dr. seuss, sort of true, yeah, just be careful, honey. I'm going to grab things here to understand who recommended this. I want to find that guy. Probably the On the other side of the world you see a smile opening, there's one right there, the clumps are round and have a spiny outside, whatever is round, it's actually called Cassiopeia and they're upside down jellyfish.
I had never seen anything like it before us. I also saw a lot of horseshoe crabs and thought it may have been mating

season

. I want you to know that every time you are away we have everything here at least to stay. Do you feel like we have something strong and I saw you walking? the line and the truth may come, you'll be the last to think about it, that's huge, find something like that, all in one piece, that would be something for me, hmm, then, and it's too windy to carry the drone I was hoping for get.
Take the drone here a bit, so what did you find there, ice cream? We don't know how long it's been there, uh, yeah, I'll show you what I'm wearing now. This system worked fine the other day. I guess it wasn't that windy, well, and I think I have a solution for half the pallet getting stuck in the ground, it doesn't look like it's going anywhere, we'll have to keep a close eye on it. beautiful walking trails, there are beautiful plants, trees, birds, animals and fish in the water, so many interesting things to see and it has one of the largest populations of thatched palm trees in the entire country, just a short drive away car or a one mile hike from the uh rv park at curry hammock state park is the uh park trail here they have kind of a cool nature trail that looks like it's about a mile and a half long and I'm just going to do that today and see it here.
The nice thing about the Florida Keys is that they have this multi-use trail that I think runs through all, if not most, of the Keys for biking, running, walking and runs along Highway One here, but there are a good part here where it's completely enclosed so it's a nice type of cactus, an unusual type, even in the tropical type of climate here in the

keys

we have some cacti, one wrong step and it's a sprained ankle situation like you. If you look around you, you'd swear you were in a tropical jungle and some foreign land. We heard they spray mosquitoes down here, so we didn't see many mosquitoes, but we were getting bitten by some.
No, we seem to think or just The sand flies are really little flies at the campfire last night and I'm reading a little bit about our bare, scaly tree here, we've seen several of them and they're so interesting it's called gumbo limbo, sometimes Called a tourist tree because its bark is red and peeling like a tourist's skin here in the Florida Keys it's obviously been spending too much time in the sun I guess I didn't realize that before we were told there are iguanas up to six feet tall here so I want to see one uh but six feet which is pretty big it would be scary but it's cool to see it at the same time this is the biggest one we saw and it was in the city this is something we've really enjoyed here close by of bonfires almost every night. here on the beach at sunset and they provide the firewood for this it's so amazing fire i have fire you are the one who will survive with the mermaid hair she played her ukulele for us she said you can follow her on instagram at iguana underscore slayer she I played on the rainbow at my request and wow, it was a great pleasure and no, she doesn't kill iguanas and Curry Hammock State Park has one of the best and cleanest bathhouses we have ever seen.
We are lucky to have had 14 days. Here we are on day number 13 and we haven't had to dump because we've been using the bathhouse as much as possible so we don't have to pack everything up and slide down to the dump station and back to our campsite. This is definitely a plus. Nice bath houses, some of the cleanest we've seen and handicap accessible, as well as three men's shower stalls. Here is the business side of the rest of the bathroom. A small Dyson hand dryer there in the bathhouse too. There's a place to wash your dishes if you want to keep your storage tanks there too, plus some outdoor showers to wash off the sand you'll get when you head out to these beaches.
We have enough time at the beach. We're escaping the beach escaping the beach What do you mean we're escaping? We're getting away from the beach for a while. Oh, we're at the store by the bay. Island Fish Company. You looked for it. You can see it well. Yes that's how it is. Yes that's fine. Great let's go get some food and watch the sunset here so we like to try the local favorites so we had an appetizer of blue stone crab and crab cakes and split our time packing up here from the park State Curry Hammock.
I like this. I have a nice late check out time and it's like one o'clock, which is awesome. You don't have to get up very early and spend all your time packing your bags. In fact, you can enjoy your last day a little, but two amazing weeks here. uh, beautiful camp, uh, we will definitely return. How long has it been since you've been on a swing? Probably 40 years of maintenance on these, don't get hurt, honey. Hello friend what are you doing? I'm trying to be more active on Instagram yes. You don't follow us on Instagram, it's just that it's been enjoying the trip.

Thanks for subscribing. our channel we are in john penicamp state park in the florida keys that's right this is our third place on our seven week trip here in the keys yeah and the time is flying by I can't believe it it's going by too fast . Fly when you're having fun, that's right, and John Pennecamp State Park is one of the most popular state parks in all of Florida. It receives hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. It was the first underseat park in the US. It spans 70 nautical miles of ocean in the Atlantic and is filled with beautiful coral reefs.
For this part of our trip, we stayed three nights at John Penacamp with all fees and taxes averaging just 45.23 per night, which is much less than the hotel rates we could. i found out they were anywhere from $99 to over $500 a night uh it's a beautiful morning at john penicamp state park. I was very lucky to get the last available spot on the 9am extended snorkel tour. m. here. I'm very excited, but I'm running my usual course until the last minute, so it's time to hurry up and head to the boats. We love John Pennecamp State Park for all the great snorkeling options.
Northland tours start at just $30 per person and don't worry if you don't. You have your own equipment, you can rent everything you need, they also offer glass bottom boat tours, scuba diving, and canoe and kayak rentals, and if you're hungry, there may be a food truck there. Tom got the last available spot, so I stayed back. in the RV and the last thing is things like Tom like the marina, someone here will probably have an upset stomach if that happens to you. Never enter a sea head. They are hot. They are congested. It's a bad place to get trampled in the air. it's new we have booked two vip sections one is here and one is there does anyone know what vip means you get in trouble and you think this might be the last time you fight for a job penny can't stay apart you have my permission to pull that tab , what's going to happen is this jacket will instantly inflate more than you ever thought possible and you'll float like this, oh man this is amazing out here, produce greek rock, get back on the ride, vote again, enjoy the ride, definitely , Enjoy the trip.
Nowadays many people want to see the statue simply called the Christ of the Abyss that we started to park in 1960 and put here in 1964. The Chrissy family from Italy was the one who donated it. It is approximately nine feet and three meters tall. the same disc from the surface weighs about two thousand kilos four thousand five hundred pounds and if you want a religious experience where you dive and hold on to that statue, just come from head to toe and shoot forward, you can crash the five with the hands that the people had. the time to rest the body height would not touch the first burner, they can just wave their handseureka, I found it and everyone else knows exactly, so your pool is open, if you're ready to get in, go see Jesus, yeah, let's do it.
I've always been looking for Jesus, I know what, find them here now for a little more, so what a great day snorkeling at three different snorkel stops, so many beautiful fish and seeing the Christ of the Abyss statue, although I think I've already spent enough time in the water. My fingers are so wrinkled that I would highly recommend a snorkeling trip at John Pennecamp State Park if you now have a chance to get back to the RV and see what Cheree is up to. Yes, one of the ways we save money on our trips is by watching.
For great local happy hours, we received a recommendation from our boat captain to visit Jimmy Johnson's Big Chilly located at mile marker 104 next to the bay and Key Largo. Great asking the locals they know here at Jimmy's.Johnson's Big Chill just showed up for happy hour after diving and they are hosting one of our sit-down shows on the bay dock. We got a front row table to listen to live music and watch magician Michael's tricks and another beautiful Florida Key sunset, just the right one. end of a perfect day this is so cool here this big old bird comes here there it goes thank you sunset here on the pier there are so many interesting things to do and see here yeah let's go into the visitor center and it has a water aquarium 30,000 gallon saltwater tank and it's all included with your state park entry pass. this is our visitor center aquarium, the yellow kind because it's the baby and around the corner in another tank there is an aquarium with yellow and blue stripes, it's a teenager and the big tank is the adult and they are all Solid blue color, so they changed fascinating glasses closer than I thought.
What was that? I can see your nose print. I know my nose print is there. Oh, did you stumble upon that? Yeah I thought the glass was inside the inside of this Kobe thing oh where's the window? Look, damn, I'm sorry I missed that from here it looks like the glass is inside, yeah, it must be like, uh, maybe I have a double pane or something, now they're the same. I walk here, so don't show your face, yeah, I stay up. The window still hurts. Look at those who are completely standing. It's magic. They are magical fish.
Some people don't learn. I hope I caught that one of you. I would be here for yourself. It looks like an alien here, so this guy here is called a lionfish. This guy is a bad predator and the only way he can be caught is through spearfishing by humans. It knows well if it is fixed in the right way to eradicate it. this species is the demand for more lionfish when you order seafood and in fact I have tried it and it is very good and I think we should eradicate this species of evil fish, although it is beautiful, we do not want them in our waters, there is Jonathan A Camp. 1897 1978.
John Penicamp State Park has two beaches and is protected by canyons. Also, you can snorkel here and the clarity is not that good, but there are some interesting things to see, the wild tamarind trail. That's the biggest one we've seen after using a prescription-enhanced snorkel mask. We realized we needed to upgrade our personal snorkel gear, so we headed into town to see the divers first hand. Hi Jonah, I'm Tom, nice to meet you. So Jonah is going to get us new masks with a little prescription so we can get a better look at the owner of this company, the really nice guy at this company, Kevin, he's awesome, yes you have another location in Key West, yes, Key West, Fort Lauderdale, I see. how that works, yeah, so I'll fit right in.
Use silicone grease, yes, so you don't have to shave. There was a guy who came here with a big bushy beard and everything that's a little sad because he had to shave, but you didn't need to find any more goodies. Yes, I'm going to buy some booties because I have a blister from Ben. I inhale as much as I can just to try, it looks good. I just remember that you shouldn't smile underwater. It's so hard to do it. I'm so happy down there it's hard as a happy place this is the bathroom key in the store there you're fine what are you doing Tom vacuuming now?
Can you feel the air coming in around your mustache? Yes, I can hear. Yes, I could feel it a little. Oh, that's probably why you have a lot of leaks. Well, yeah, that's a mustache, so you can shave it or silicone grease, but really, that's perfect, you just rearrange it or reset it. That seemed fine, so yeah. Perfect when your neighbor's sewage is so close to your campsite, it's just too close and like all the state parks here in the Florida Keys, they have a late check out which is awesome at 1:00 pm. m., so you can enjoy the facilities a little and when you leave your campsite here you are free to enjoy your stay the rest of the day you can park in their parking lot there are plenty of spaces for buses and RVs and enjoy the rest of this day here at john penicamp we are at john penicamp state park it's my turn to say something yes I'll start I'll start again oh I need to keep going my hair keeps going in my face okay it's the first underwater national park this happens all the time, the wind, yes, state Park right in front of the lovers boutique.

Oh yeah, look how wide this place is. You can almost fit another RV in here. I should have rotated it this way so all of our windows were facing directly out. in the water right here, but oh, amazing site, Honda site 18, you can try to get it, but again, all these sites in the Florida Keys are hard to get.

I can't understand that I want to be put on the right sunscreen and drenched in a rigorous stain that isn't even a sunscreen. we've gotten so tanned oh oh yeah maybe not he thinks he's dead well my face and parts of my body see yeah this is the first place we've been where there's warm water right next to the camp , oh man, we.
