May 31, 2024
Well, welcome to a new video from Harry's Garage and today's car is the Rolls

royce

Spectre, the first 18-foot-long all-electric car. There is a lot to discuss about

this

car. Two electric motors front and rear, so a four-wheel

drive

Rolls-Royce and they. I've been looking at electricity for a while, they've denied it, but I found an interesting quote in the 1900 press release. The Honorable Charles Rolls made a bold prediction in a magazine article: the electric automobile is perfectly quiet and clean, not There is no smell or vibration. They should be very useful when you can organize fixed charging stations and those that were four years before Rolls-Royce was formed, but I find it extraordinary that in 1900 Charles Rolls was talking about the electric Rolls

Let's take a closer look now, starting with the front. and just looking at the design of

this

car, there was no way they would design a Rolls-Royce without the traditional grille, it just wouldn't be a Rolls-Royce without it, but they did seem like the spirit of ecstasy that they had got that kind of factor. of this car to be as low as possible that's how you get the efficiency of electric cars, how can they make it so it's a lot more rounded, the carnage and spirit of X has had a lot of work and it's

actually

a little more small yeah I look at my Silver Shadow there she's a lot taller here she's shorter and there's also a little glow that's

actually

backlit from the top so when you go out at night you can see that kind of glow there and also with the grill I can see this kind of panel behind it and that also lights up subtly at night and other things, yeah, the daytime running lights are this, this slit here, the headlights are down here, there are no other lights there, you can see the radar in the middle and then the right one. the immensity of this car, its height, look at it, it's so tall up here, this hood actually opens, we'll see that in a moment and it reveals, well, not much, but get close to the side and that's it. in proportion because the wheels are 23 inches Wheels 25540 Oh, for 23 ply dedicated electric tire on this car, so

rolls

royce here there are no grills, obviously, there is no type of air to have to vent out of this and these huge handles Of the doors that obviously open this way are huge.

More Interesting Facts About,

The largest door apparently in production is the traditional one by pressing this button up, matching your car's umbrella on both sides, you'll also get We'll take a look inside at CU time. I'm going to go up, but this is how CL closes. it's on the pillarless button and we go back 29535 R23 so yeah bigger in the rear there's actually a difference in horsepower between the two electric motors so in the front with the electric motor there's 250 horsepower and then in the rear here it's 490 horsepower and so yes, wider and wider tires in the rear, although the weight distribution is noticeably 50/50 and you wonder where is the battery that is on the floor. 700 kilos in total.

I like the Rolls-Royce version of the battery. The floor is said to provide an additional secondary function fully integrated into the engine architecture, acting as 700 kilos of additional acoustic insulation. I've never seen a battery described like this before here charging points there taillight redesigned to be colorless It's interesting that they did it because everyone customized the color of their cars and wanted to give the taillights a neutral look so that's why I was like this , the only thing I would say, even though this is painted, yes, I can feel it. I would have thought it would have a hairspray on it, but I can feel that strip of pin there in my hand, a big big boot swept up to the tail and a normal big boot, like you'd imagine, and a little place to keep the cables in there. but mainly I imagine this car is being charged at home if you look at the typical Rolls-Royce owner: he owns an average of seven cars and

drive

s about 5,000 km a year in his Rolls-Royce, so yes, he has a Claimed range of 329 miles.

I'll talk about it when we go out for a walk, I'll just show you the inside here. It's amazing how far those doors open. It's a big statement here, everything will light up, but I just want to show you in the back, whether that's my seating position, I can get in, I can lower the seat and here we go and I'm looking at the typical Starburst. They say here that it is actually this ceiling that has a shooting star, so from time to time you see it. a flash that is very clear and I feel comfortable back here just the surprises, although there is no adjustment in the seat, but I feel very comfortable and the other thing that I just got on because it is very tight.
I've taken people in the back of this car and they say it's pretty imposing, so you don't have much of a view from the back, like you'll star in this pillar and then the big seat, but uh, the comfort is great, right, it last thing I want to show. You're down here, so I didn't realize you could actually open this Spirit of electricity has disappeared down there. It looks like it's a huge motor, it's not, it's just an aluminum cover that covers the electric motor and probably the charging points and stuff, but. Let's take it outside and see how this Rolls-Royce Specter drives.
I make a big statement that the rear doors are hinged and especially on this Rolls-Royce because to close it I press the brake pedal and it closes smoothly, obviously, strangely, I can. Don't make the passenger door do the same in the rafe. You used to have a button here and you just press it and it opens, but we can't get it to work. We have looked at all the buttons, we looked at the manual. I can't get it to work but it's a real pain in the ass because it's so hard to get to the door they open wide and if you don't know it and you don't hold the door when you come in, yeah you have to get out. again to open the door, but yeah, there's a lot of space here, uh, a very familiar kind of dashboard, it lights up, it's right on the other side of the dashboard, these screens now, so I'm saying goodbye, if I just press this one, there We're, everything would light up if you just put media in there, yeah, it all comes together.
I thought there might be an off button, but I haven't found it yet. No, that's not off. Spectre, you can't really see it in this light and in front of me, well, a Speedo 182 M. range and a power reserve so 100% ready. I love all of these vents, they are just glorious, all metal and work great. These organ stops, as we used to call them, how you adjust the airflow through them, just fantastic cop stands. hidden under a familiar control for everything we want to do here here as many options as you can see, you can run them and customize them.
These are custom buttons, so one through eight, now someone else has set them up. I didn't bother changing them and there's no indication of what they are without pressing them as far as I can see. Ventilation. I love this division. Rolls-Royce has had this since the 70's. I think it's really nice and I love how the fan works. The speed is smooth, medium high or MX heated seats, just a small glove box and wireless charging for your mobile, but it's not cold, which is to be expected, but it's not, I can't see this Starburst guy. of a roof right now the roof liner means you will never get a panoramic roof if you go for those options yeah now I should talk about the options ah cuz I haven't actually discussed the price but yeah the price of This car is $332 and £2,000. price as tested according to coach who had the same car as me £444,000 315 so £110,000 worth of options for this car the big one well the two tone magnite and gunmetal gray exterior paint 24,000 well this one has the launch package. including custom interiors with colored stitching Illuminated tread plates Carpet lams Rolls-Royce headrests Monograms 16,000 for that small illuminated lot Spirit of exy costs 3,800 is a separate option Shooting star roof £1,155,000 this door panels with wood here's another 10 320 God, I can charge, yes, those umbrellas, you just want the umbrellas to be color coded, £1,350 for those, yes, the options are quite a bit, but if I press start and the other thing I love is the controller to drive like it does on my Silver Shadow too. and it goes off, it locks up and I immediately realize that I feel like I'm sitting low and there's a really big hood in the front and it's high and it's like you're in this vault.
I feel like you don't have this view, like if you're used to the Range Rover or the Silver Shadow, it's a different view, it's in a sort of closed sports CPE feel and I also need to get rid of the speed. It was decided that my trip is 20 million hours even though it is a private trip and I have to stop doing it because it is obviously a 2024 car, nothing to do with Rolls-Royce, it is EU regulations, let's look some better roads. There are no options in the driving modes as you imagine in this, yes, but there is an option in the sound that you have, which is the Rolls-Royce sound.
I have it on, so in the background I could turn it off and have almost complete silence, but eh. Just like that, that feeling and that um just adds to the feeling of this instant growl of this and not changing gears and it's lovely how you come out of junctures like that, you say it's just awe-inspiring and you look out because of big mirrors and the high line of the windows, you know, you just have to watch yourself, look twice, there's definitely nothing coming, it's not that obvious because they don't have the depth of glass as good. 62 63 DB along my noisy, bitter road it's fun at really low speeds there's a sense of occasion with this car an ease that's exemplary I mean, it's a Rolls-Royce staple, but it's as easy as you can, how smoothly you can drive and how your braking is almost imperceptible. your acceleration goes off the mark and you get addicted to it once you've experienced it, it's not a jolt you know, it's just a drive, but it's where the electric has even enhanced the Rolls-Royce experience, which was fantastic anyway, but yeah, it's A stellar turn of this Specter is when you're sitting in traffic and then you have to slow down so well judged and it's actually very difficult to do just so the brakes don't grab.
This is a 155 mph car, so it should be rated at 155 mph. I kind of put it on my scale and it weighs 2,940 kilos, which I actually thought was better than expected, but it's all aluminum construction and it has 700 kilos of battery, but compared to some of the cars out there, it's Vaguely okay because everything seems fine. be 2 and 1/2 tons, so I expected it to be my first time with more than 3 tons, but it was not other things here, very little regeneration in its normal mode. I have a b button here and that then introduces a major regeneration. and it hardly fits the car, so I quite like that it is optional and that it is a button, it is not in stages if you want a lot of regeneration, it is basically driven with a pedal, it is there if you want it with a simple button, the other stuff.
I noticed that these levers are covered with levers. I can feel the seams in them. I can't think of another car that has indicator stalks covered with levers, but I have to show you the performance. This is my normal uphill squirt here and it's all very relaxed. I'm doing a little over 33 miles per hour, I'm going to hit the D side of the limit now and plug. I can't do it for long, plug properly, um faster than I expected. You get it with electric cars, but it doesn't really dominate the feel of The Drive. but then you have to overtake or something and you're surprised how fast this thing goes bang and I'm again um um thanks autar for calculating this car but they got 4.1 seconds no for 60 and 9.1 seconds for 100 Thousand hour 9.1 To dive in less than 10 seconds, you used to have to have a slice of the 911 Turbo, it's not a big deal like that anymore, doing that kind of speed is very impressive and it's very easy if you have to cut something, yes, a lot. power and instantaneous no turbos to wind it no gearbox to shift it's just gone now so let's try it down here no manual option just yeah cruise to the bend nothing to touch this unit jitas let's turn it here God , that's not what he should He didn't do that, he shouldn't behave like that, there was nothing, he was alert, although I hadn't put him in a sports environment, nothing and then, yes, yes, this is my bumpy part of Road and yes, I can.
You say no, not really, it's yes. I think looking at the specifications of the car to go deeper doesn't tell you much Rolls-Royce, you have to keep searching to try to find information about this car, but it does have anti-roll bars so they are disengaged when you are going in a straight line like we were there , as soon as they feel an aggressive turn in the steering or something, they instantly spring into action and control Rob remarkably well and I guess you have to add that it's the battery right along the base of the car's electric motors underneath aluminum construction and, to my surprise, it does notWallows, it just feels Sharp Way, sharper than it should.
He can't do those 2,940 kilos. no, it's Rolls-Royce, no, it can't be another little test for him around here, airs come up, just swallows crashing around there, poers, car, it's quite remarkable, excellent, all around, points there, it has rear steering too, which obviously helps. the Dynamics Department too, but it is a big surprise. I was almost not going to try it on this road. I thought I couldn't take Specter there, but having tried it before, I really had to show it off because it shines. Here is the right time to go over some likes and dislikes I don't like it first um it's strange because I love the design on the outside but on the inside I find it imposing and kind of claustrophobic on the back and it's difficult to play as soon as you find yourself in an environment where you have to look at limbs, you really need the cameras to know what's going on my way.
I have two stone pillars, I never thought about it, but they disappear like 20M before you get to them and you have to have this memory record of those two stone pillars where they were because it is very high and full of blind spots everywhere, there is a kind of small pillar box. in the rear so I find it a little disappointing, although the efficiency, well back to the efficiency, if I turned it off, yeah 2.1 miles per kilo seems to be what I get from this car, could improve 2.3 2.4 onwards. a run but it means a range of over 300 miles I'm afraid it's not there it's 250 24250 which is a bit marginal if you spent almost half a million pounds on a car or 400,000 on a car yes the cost , I should mention the cost.
It is a very expensive car, unlike all electric cars, it seems to suffer a small sign of depreciation, we should say that it is a bit vulgar to talk about Rolls-Royce and depreciation, but they give it, yes, three after three years a worth around 180,000, so "You're losing a quarter of a million pounds in three years. I put it in magnitude finances and it was wrong, but let's move on to what I like as my favorite curves come in and yes, you can probably guess my number one like I CH over here, look at it, it's not a squid punch, no, it's a Rolls-Royce, it shouldn't be number one.
The big dynamic surprise I didn't expect that at all and the steering just weighs it down. very good in the corner and yeah, although it excels in the city and wandering and that chauffeur experience, you put it on a road like this and you prepare to be surprised, so I love that I love the feeling that it's also a. Rolls-Royce. You just know there's a It's easy and in this crazy world we're in, there's kind of an Oasis feel once you get into this and you can see why it's addictive stuff and it's got all the toys, you know, It's climate control. beautifully configured, I love the kind of touches they put on it, you know, the star roof and that kind of thing, it's so good, it's so strong for the brand, no one else has that experience, I love the rear doors too hinged, actually, I just think.
They work so well that you have to keep in mind that I only wish the passenger door closed too, but you know that once you get used to them, the way you get into the car is exemplary, so overall my conclusion on this car, well I think it's the first electric car I've driven from a manufacturer that really enhances the experience I expect from that brand, so for Rolls-Royce I think electric will offer them a wonderful future, it absolutely suits the car , it's the first car I've driven. driven which is improved by being electric yes, I would like the range to be a little better, but the experience that the Rolls-Royce has here is, but here, for the jump, it is simply a glorious car to get around in and quite a statement as all the
