Riding with Radar! 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 S | Daily Rider

Jun 02, 2021
Hello everyone, Zack Cords here with Revzilla and welcome to another episode of Daily Rider where we learn about new motorcycles while we ride. Our very special guest today is Ducati's Multistrada V4 S, which is a 1200cc V4 with almost all the cool gadgets and gadgets you can start

riding

a motorcycle today for around 25,000. There's a lot to unpack here, no. There are two ways to do it, so let's see how all those features work in the

daily

commute. Come on, well everyone,

ducati

multistrada

v4 v4s, I don't even know. How are we going to talk about all the things we have to talk about.

This could be a 45 minute long episode and I'll just say that I'm not going to be able to talk about everything. Sorry, the first thing I want to mention. As you would expect, the

radar

system is integrated into the front of the bike. Here there is also one in the rear that informs the blind spot warning system and adaptive cruise control. Big old beefy 330k rotors with top of the line style calipers. All in the typical brake system. Ducati cross spoke wheels, this is cool, they are obviously wire spoke rims but they are also tubeless which is quite clever, something very popular in the adventure touring segment these days and Ducati has adopted it to the multi v4, um, here you go.

More Interesting Facts About,

riding with radar 2021 ducati multistrada v4 s daily rider...

I have the 1158cc v4 grand tourer, of course there are valve springs, no desmos system like on any other

ducati

as I don't know if God was a child and, um, a fairly low rev ceiling and service intervals incredibly long, oil every 9,300 miles. and valve clearance is checked every 37,000 miles, making it a great adaptation of the v4 engine for adventure travel. Other things I want to talk about real quick. These crazy gills on the side here, so these are the radiators pointing towards the. center of the bike, when the air enters through the front, it is pushed outwards in this way.
riding with radar 2021 ducati multistrada v4 s daily rider
There is a radiator fan there. You can see, maybe you can see. These little blades here are not fins for downforce, but for forcing the air up to where it is. Hot air will come out of the radiator and away from the driver. A very specific example of this is this little slit here, this guy goes into a port that we probably won't be able to see inside, here it is next to the oil cooler. There's an inlet port about this size and the outlet is about this size and it comes out here and as far as I can tell it's made to create sort of a sheet of air that comes out here and pushes the air away from the

rider

. hot air coming from the radiator, so a lot of thought was put into keeping the heat away from the driver.

Ducati's have a reputation for being warm on a warm day and apparently Ducati has taken that to heart, apart from that pretty basic, really yes, steel tube architecture. trellis subframe which is removable as well as the passenger pegs which function as an exhaust, mount a double sided swing arm for this

multistrada

v4 it's like molded into a trellis which is kind of cool yeah standard center stand with the package travel that is included. this bike is fine, I think that might be all we need to talk about from here, we can fire it up and hit the road, turn a little key here, turn on the 6.5 inch TFT and we need an oil service that will performed with test bicycles. quite often because it has less than 600 miles when it arrived, they gave it to us, so yeah, that's the reason and here we go, everyone, v4 gran Turismo, I'm excited about this one, oh, you know, hitting the road.
I'm going to jump right into the specs because like I said there's a lot to talk about, this is a 24 700 motorcycle as is, it should actually have saddlebags, with that you get a ton of features, heated grips. The seat and

radar

package as well as the wire wheels which are an option for the

daily

driver scale the v4 multi shot with a full tank weighs 570 pounds um again that's with the 5.8 gallons of fuel in the tank, the engine like me. said it's just under 1200 cc, the claimed horsepower is 170 and the claimed torque is 92 pound-feet, which is, yeah, a lot less than the superbike, obviously, um, but you get those long valve intervals and nice by having an engine that is relatively under stress, that is the The general idea is that the last specification that we usually talk about is the seat height and that it is adjustable between 33.1 inches and 33.9 inches.
I have it in the top position right now. I am six foot two, can be flat footed and the top position is almost 34 inches. I think it doesn't sit as tall as they say, to be honest it isn't, yeah it doesn't feel like a 34 inch C type to me. Another variable with this bike of course is that it has adjustable preload on the shock, so I have the preload pretty low for just one

rider

right now, so it's relatively smooth and plush if I dial in a lot of preload with the dash. , which we'll deal with later, the bike stiffens a little and, uh, gets a little taller, so seat heights are a nebulous measurement in the era of adjustable preload and seat heights.
The seats are adjustable, but all I'll say about that again is that it doesn't sit that high. as it reads on the paper talking about the seat, it's a bone-chilling 59 degrees here in Los Angeles, so I'm going to go down to my little menu here and I'm going to go to the heated seat and I'm going to put it on low heat, I'm just going to cook my buns a little bit. Because? No, I also have the heated grips, the three settings low, medium high, very, very good feature of heated grips. I'm such a fan of heated grips that it's hard for me to even put it into words while we're on the topic of seats and handlebars, the ergonomics of this bike are pretty good.
I often talk about how comfortable and reasonable adventure touring bikes are and this is a very expensive adventure touring bike and therefore some efforts have also been made to ensure that it is comfortable and truly the best . the seat is nice, the handlebars are in a really nice position, they're wide eh but it puts you in a really dominant position, feet nice and upright just under the top of your leg, a very comfortable and reasonable place to be , whether you're in your city, dirt road, highway, whatever we're looking for. That 170 very fast horsepower is a lot better than a cup of coffee to wake you up in the morning and yes, since you're looking at the dashboard, it's 10 in the morning, I'm not saying I just got up or anything else.
I'm not a coffee drinker so I like 170 horsepower, that's my preferred method, well on the highway where this bike is also very comfortable. One thing I don't want to forget to talk about is the adjustable wind guard, which is not only adjustable but extremely easy to adjust, put it where you want it and it stays there but when you push it it unlocks so it's a great system. My only complaint about it is that it's a little thick to look at, um, not that good. sexy from an engineering point of view as I don't know the BMW system which is like a little cast aluminum thing that's hinged and when you turn it, but ease of use wise it's absolutely brilliant because we're at the fresh air.
On the highway we're going to experiment with that radar, so I'll turn on the cruise control. The adaptive cruise is set and here we go, we're behind this Toyota Camry here and I can set the cruise to 85. uh, there we're going to roll at 73 miles per hour um, as things happen with this car, we can experiment with how it reacts. to those things uh but yeah this is one of the great features of this bike and the first time I've experienced it on a motorcycle since the adaptive cruise control and I must say I've been pretty impressed so far so I need to change lane here.
I'm going to park behind this truck. I'm not going to touch the accelerator. to scare me a little but I'm going to do it anyway oh this car is cutting me off this is a good test actually there we go the bike is slowing down applying the brakes I'm covering the rear brake for those of you Thinking I'm completely suicidal but here we go, little merge swap, someone stopped in front of me and the bike did absolutely everything, slowed down, accelerated and I didn't touch the gas or brake, it's very creepy, um, trusting the system. to do those things um and at first I was pretty cautious here we go so the truck moves out of my way the cruise is set for way over 56 miles per hour and here we go we hit the gas and we go and now it's spotting the truck ahead up there and already slowing down a little bit, letting off the accelerator to make sure we don't catch up too quickly, here we go, speed matches again, um, if it looks like I'm following too closely.
That's it, that's fair, so I'm going to go to the adaptive cruise menu without rear-ending this truck and I'm going to set it to medium so there's almost medium far and very far, so I'm going to set it to very far following distance and we . I'll let it calm down here, but as you can see, the truck is moving away from me and you can notice that this light went off, which is the blind spot detection for that white corolla that just passed by and it's like another truck is approaching . on the left, so now we can see this mirror, there it goes, letting me know that there is a truck in the blind spot, a very good and quite basic technology in the automotive field.
I think many of you have probably used a car that has adaptive equipment, um, but Yeah, like I said, it's the first motorcycle I've ridden with it and overall I'm very impressed with the application of the radar, whether it's the warning of blind spot or adaptive cruise control. Another thing about the blind spot detectors, you can adjust the Brightness of this light to three different settings, so that's a nice feature. I actually didn't find it particularly useful, but just so you know you can do it, yes, I looked over it because I'm a creature of habit. and I trust the system, but yes, it never hurts to be safe.
I guess that's okay, so I'm cruising at the proper speed and with proper following distance behind this truck. I have the security of a radar system to let off the accelerator if someone brakes suddenly and warns me that something is happening my hands are warm from the heated grips my butt is warm from the heated seat I don't have to use the clutch if I don't want to because I have an adjustable quick shifter wind protection I have power ports I even have a little cubby here where I can put my phone and let it charge so it's the perfect motorcycle well there's one thing we usually talk about on the road that I would like address that is the fuel range and the fuel range is not great.
I've gotten between 30 and 35 miles per gallon. All the fuel consumption figures I've compiled for this motorcycle, which of course is pretty bad for a motorcycle, are actually something like this. a prelia tuono level um, which is like an engine famous for its inefficiency because it's a big V4 that makes a lot of horsepower, um, you know, the more cylinders you have in there, the more power you generate, the more fuel you have to use and, um , even though this engine is in a relatively mild state of tune, it consumes quite a bit of fuel and despite having a 5.8 gallon fuel tank, which is pretty big or very reasonable, I only got about 170 miles on a tank which, I think, was my high 171 and the board. it was showing 2 miles of range, I didn't put in all the gas it could have taken, um, so you know, I didn't actually use all the gas to go 170 miles, but you'll want to fill up about that time, unless you really want to push it, now we've slowed down a lot and i want to downshift but then i'm going to ruin the cruise no so just downshift to 4th gear pull the clutch or qrik shifter slightly and the bike is totally fine with the adaptive cruise keep moving forward.
The way to cancel adaptive cruise is to turn it off on the handle here or let off the accelerator or tap the brake, but otherwise, as you can see, use the quick shifter to shift back into sixth. Adaptive gear crews still haul trucks and to be very honest with you, I was a little surprised that they let you shift with adaptive cruise on just because I figured it wouldn't let you do that, I want you to do it, but it does and it seems to work . I know some of you are probably shocked that I have my hand off the gas and brake in traffic and think I'm being wildly irresponsible.
Part of it is that I trust the system. I think it's nice. Well, and part of this is that I'm doing it to illustrate how the system works, so don't think that I'm running around without hands all the time just because I can promise that it's okay, the last adaptive equipment test that we're going to do. a red light I'm stopping behind this car here we're going to observe I'm going to put my hand over the accelerator there we go it's applyingbrake slowing down you'll see the dashboard here we go adaptive equipment off it doesn't stop completely, but it does slow down pretty hard if necessary to prevent it from getting too close to the vehicle in front, so that's almost all the time we have to the adaptive cruise.
I hope it was as fun for you as it was for me let's roll down the windshield let's talk about how this sucker drives walking through a neighborhood you can hit the first stop sign oh I bet I know what happened I'm in full stop mode touring obviously there are multiple driving modes on the multistrada so you should probably put it in enduro touring sport urban urban obviously you have to put it in urban mode if you want it to handle well in an urban environment of course that's not true , but let's put it in urban just to navigate these city streets here and talk about what exactly the driving modes do.
No, I didn't run that stop sign. Another thing that Urban does is tone down the throttle response quite a bit, it makes the engine feel like a Much smoother Less peak horsepower Less abrupt throttle response when you turn it and it's actually good for

riding

around town in my opinion . It feels similar to the enduro map on the bike, which is the off-road map. I went through that stop sign, but I don't think I made it. at zero miles per hour, so technically I deserve a ticket, but overall the throttle response on this bike is pretty good and the engine is very docile.
You know, this bike has the V4 engine that is from the Panigale from Street Fighter. which are surprisingly easy to drive, I think considering the high performance factor that they have, but this engine is even more so, it's really nice. We'll put it in third gear here and this is idle, so we're. I just chug around here 1200 rpm, I'll push the throttle, we'll get a little choke, but it just lifts up, nice easy to use engine and everything else about the interface with the driver from a mechanical standpoint, yeah, there we go, I have my foot. stop everything else about the driver interface from a mechanical standpoint is great, the clutch feel is pretty good, the brakes are really sharp and strong and I know what you're thinking for 25 grand it better be and yes, I agree, but Ducati's merit is damned.
Well there is absolutely no way we can review this board and all its functions in a single traffic light, but we will try to get one later, we have a little more time and it is in the lowest possible power mode, by the way, still has a lot of get up and go, I just realized I didn't talk about the mirrors, how mirrors actually work on the highway, which is what I normally do, but I was talking about the blind spot on the adaptive cruise and blah Blah blah, finally a bike to make. jealous corvette guy what do you think is half a v8 v4 corvette guy? okay, maybe next time anyway the mirrors are pretty good pretty good um, it's ducati, I don't think they have the best reputation for making mirrors practical because bikes are you know, a lot of times, more form than function , sometimes, um, but the multistrada is not that it's um, I wouldn't say function over form, but uh, equal parts because, um, things like that, all the little things like I said, changing gears, mirrors, quick shifter , all. that's very very good here we are in lovers lane um passenger accommodation in the multistrada v4 also quite good the seat for example the passenger seat is also heated which is a very very smart addition for ducati because if you're going to do it, you know, spend twenty-five thousand dollars on a motorcycle, say, um, you want your roommate, your spouse, whatever, to support it well, nothing helps them believe in your dream like a couple of hot buns while traveling down the road, um, my friend loves. a heated seat and I reported that it had good legroom, a nice soft saddle, um, and yes, overall good ratings for passenger accommodation on the multistrada, which is good news for anyone who wants take this on tour, okie dokie, I'll take a moment.
I'm here to put this sucker in touring mode because we're approaching our winding road and I'm going to try to get out of traffic before this chevy bolt, whatever, something like that, oh my god, it's already like reaching for a pickup truck. It's kind of a shame, but I can tell you that I drove the multistrada v4 on a lot of twisty roads, alone and with two other people, and I was really, really impressed with how it handles, is light to the touch, predictable and even. and it just inspires confidence, like you want to tip the thing on it, it almost prompts you to do it in a way that you wouldn't expect a bike to do when it weighs the better part of 600 pounds, so yeah, even though we're stuck in the traffic here I can report that the bike handles very, very well, it has more of a multi-star feel than I expected.
I thought the engine was really going to change the dynamics of the machine in some way. I wasn't sure if it was going to be good or bad, but it really reminds me of a moldy straw because of how poised it has on a winding road and even how it shoots around corners and how the front end feels going into a tight turn. , something like that, which I think, overall, is a pretty good thing. I got a couple of questions about the 19 inch front wheel and I said do you really think that something was lost by going to a 19 inch front wheel from the 17 inch front wheel uh which historically has always had the multilayer and I don't think so no I don't think so um I do think the transition from the 1200 to the 1260 um they changed the chassis a little bit somewhere in there and now I'm forgetting exactly when it happened but I'm pretty sure it was when they moved to the 1260 engine and for me the bike lost a little bit of its edge in that transition um and Ducati was adamant when I first rode that bike.
You know, it handles just as well as the previous model, but I didn't think about it. I really felt like I was in the multi-layered era. From 2012 to 2015, maybe, um, yeah, it had the Sky Hook suspension and the adaptive suspension, but it just had the kind of roots of that sport bike on stilts and it really seemed more aggressive and pointy to me, so this bike doesn't . I feel worse than the 1260, I don't think so, but overall I do think that the multi-straight bike in recent years has moved in a direction that is a little less sharp and agile than the bike from six or ten years ago. does, but to be clear, I don't want that to be completely contradictory to what I said before.
I still think it handles very well. Before it was absurdly sporty. Now it's just good and like I said, it inspires confidence and it's a lot of fun. Winding road Even if it's not as jittery and light as it was before, it's really a lot of fun and it's so smooth, this engine is so smooth, it's like we've experienced it in the city by lifting it up from idle. like in third gear, uh, and it'll let you know that if you open the throttle up there, it'll give you some shutters and jerks like you'd expect, but generally anything, I mean a couple thousand rpm, a few thousand.
The rpm's are really nice, you get this nice pulse, almost like you're on a big diesel powered boat or something, it's kind of a hum that you can feel in your feet and in your hands, it just feels substantial and powerful, but but smooth, it's very good, it's probably one of the reasons I got 31 miles per gallon on one of my tanks because it can't help but twist the grip and it makes me happy. I will say it's the only other great v4 adventure touring bike I own. It occurs to me that I remember driving a Honda VFR 1200x, which I think might have been called a Cross Tourer in Europe, maybe in other parts of the world, and an excellent engine, very fun, but so bulky, I mean, so big and heavy.
I think that bike was 630 pounds on a full tank, so another 60 pounds more than this bike, so I guess what I'm saying is that Ducati should be commended for making a big V4 that is smooth and makes plenty of power . and it's a great sports touring engine and it does it without turning it into an absolute monster, you know, monolith that they have to mount on the frame. I think this engine is lighter than the 1260 v-twin it replaces and that was in the multistrada before. so that's really um, I don't know, that's remarkable in my opinion, so well done, however, you say that in Italian, okay, another red light, can you talk about brakes for just a second, which are just excellent, tremendous, you wouldn't really know that the bicycle weighs a lot.
There's one more thing I want to talk about regarding the engine while we're at this stoplight. I'm going to open my visor in case that helps you hear the engine a little, but it does the same thing. What the Street Fighter and the Panigale do, they do that while idling at a certain temperature, it deactivates the two rear cylinders to try to save the driver and passenger from some of the engine heat coming out of those headers so that the two rear cylinders are deactivated. Now I'm going to put it in first gear and when I release the clutch you can hear it add a little bit of fuel and you can hear the other two cylinders kick in anyway.
It's a nifty feature. If you can't hear it, trust me, there's one thing I want to address at some point on this ride because I think it's worth pointing out that I like all the technology on this bike. I think the cruise adapter is pretty cool and I think it's a legitimate safety feature and I think it bodes well for bikes in the future, but I will say that Ducati talked to me about how to set up the cruise, which is possible on this bicycle. You can set up navigation so you get turn-by-turn directions on the tft dash here, it requires linking the download of two different apps, making sure those apps talk to each other, making sure the phone is plugged in and in the little cubby, which It does hold a full size modern cell phone, an iPhone 11, anyway, that's what I tried, but it's a very complicated system and you have to set it up so that your phone doesn't go into sleep mode because if it goes In sleep it stops talking to the bike and the app doesn't work, so that's clever.
You can set it up where it gives you directions, it gives you turn-by-turn live traffic, it turns on the dashboard, which is really useful, it's cool technology, but all the obstacles I had to overcome and how many times it crashed while I was using it. I just thought I don't think this is any better than just having Google directions plugged into my headphones and I think it's just a step too far or maybe not a step too far but a step too soon because it just wasn't that way. It's not ready in my opinion, it's a cool feature but it's more trouble than it's worth and here we go, we're in enduro mode, front abs only, no traction control, just the way I set it up and here we go, can you remove a 25,000 bike? -way yeah, is it good, let's find out, yeah, sideways and all, oh boy, I'm going to take the big leap, damn, little jump in the books, big jump here we go, ugh, I mean, I'd take a leap of the twice that size in this?
On a bike, one of the cool things about that semi-active suspension is that you can increase it when you feel the impact of hitting the ground like that, it just increases the damping and you don't bottom out, it feels like you can land. Frankly, from the top of a truck, but anyway we have to keep going, we have to put the bike in sport mode and of course find out whether or not it can do wheelies, I don't know, I mean do you think With 170 horsepower is it enough to achieve? It was to do a wheelie, I guess we should find out, oh my god, what an absolutely crazy vehicle, yeah, I just took it off, jumped, landed, didn't hit bottom, felt good, rocked in the dirt and then did a huge wheelie. , and I would take it. on a canyon road all day and you will never get bored so yes it is an expensive bike they are all ktm 1290 super adventure s bmw r1250 egs they are expensive and heavy but for me that is where the complaints end it is a Fantastic machine, it's regular. well it's so much fun it's capable it's hard to argue with the way we're going okay let's see if we can back off oh god delicious absolutely delicious I'll do it again it's like riding the superbike like you I just want to say. just the balance of the chassis is amazing frankly what a ride everyone here do a quick u turn test anyone I like the u turn test looking forward to it so here we go starting at our line, taking it to the maximum. we got it in less than two spaces, barely, that's pretty good, so it's better than the amount of U-turn tests we've done now, not that many, I guess it's better than a street triple, maybe not as good like the Tiger 850 Sport. from Triumph, but that may not be live on YouTube, so you might forget I said that, damn, we covered a lot of ground.
Oh look, we've got some mud splatters on the fender. Well there you go, take a last listen to that engine, it sounds pretty bad. Wasn't it veryfun? I hope you had fun because I had a great time. So now we're going to answer some Instagram questions, of course, and then we'll put this baby on the Dailyrider leaderboard and then. I can let you get on with the rest of your life okay jumping to Instagram questions um I'm not ready I'm not ready I'm not ready guys I thought I was ready but I'm not ready petizo one's first how are you doing potizo it's good to hear from you again batiso says that sometimes the cruise adapter in my car can be abrupt but generally almost imperceptible I'm not sure how I feel on a motorcycle if it's smooth on deceleration so I hope that The adaptive cruise test we did answers your question, it can be a little rough yes, but overall I was very impressed with it and I think most people would try the system too.
The next question is from Tippy Rider, who asks, from a practical point of view, how much better it is than a 950 multi. This is a good question. I wanted to talk about that and I'm glad I remembered the tippy rider every time I ride a multi 950. I always thought why would you buy the 1200 or the 1260. or whatever, it's like it's fast and has lots of features and TFT dash and crews and luggage and I just had all the stuff and I thought do I need more power than this? I don't think I really need it. I haven't written them completely in a row, but I will say that I think the multi-strata v4 does a lot for the multi-strada line in that it differentiates this bike from the multi 950 because the engine is very different and has a different character, so I can't say how much better it is, I mean it has more features, so if adaptive cruise is important to you, it's obviously something you can get with this that you can't get with the 950, but from a sort of perspective.
Chassis handling point of view and from capability point of view they are similarFrankly but I like the charisma, sorry the character of the bike changed a lot with the v4 engine on this bike so I hope that helps To answer your question, no, John Massey doesn't have a question, he has a statement that you obviously need. to compare it to the s1000xr, so yes sir, not John Massey, so the s1000xr really leans hard towards the sport bike on stilts to borrow the expression I used before, it's supposed to be kind of stiff, mean and very, very sporty because BMW figures that if you want a, you know, a tall touring bike and an adventure touring bike.
You get a gs um, while Ducati doesn't have that, they don't have, oh, you get the other one, so the multistrada v4 is very sporty and great. on a twisty road but it's probably slower on a race track than a s1000xr simply because BMW has leaned a lot towards that bike being really mean and sporty when you ask it to be hamachikama question I have a 2015 1200 and the throttle delivery It is not smooth at low speed. rpm, which often makes moving forward while completing a corner a choppy affair. How does the new bike fare considering that big front wheel?
Yes, I say this question. I actually don't know what the big front wheel has to do with Hercules. throttle response, but anyway, I hope I covered that in the section where we went up the hill in the city and I experimented with starting from idle, it's very docile, surprisingly it's more tractable than the old v twin, in my opinion, which doesn't I don't think people expected it because this engine apparently came from the Panigale and Street Fighter, but it's very docile, very easy to use, I think more so than the old engine. Florian Steinegger asked: Do you think this level of technology makes this bike?
Whether you feel safer driving or not is so important. I think you feel safer driving. Yes, I think there are a lot of things we could do with radar and motorcycles to help people. Blind spot warning is great. I would love to see blind spot warning on mt03s for small bike beginners for new and returning riders. I think blind spot warning is great and I want to see adaptive cruise is a fun luxury, but I think it makes the cyclist safer to the extent that the radar can detect something that the cyclist doesn't detect or the cyclist misses.
It's distracting by looking at a v of geese flying above or the steam coming out of a lake or the dashboard or whatever, I don't know, I think it is. it has potential to make a bike safer yeah so I don't think it's crucial but I do think it bodes well for the future and I like the app on this bike cd talk c cd taxi cd talk c c d talk c maybe that's the name Ask Zach Quartz how big is the USB port on the always on or key only phone holder, yeah so there's a USB port here you can plug your phone in, this is an iPhone 11 it goes there and it reaches pretty low, so it's Like I don't know, it's pretty big, width-wise, an iPhone 11 is pretty much everything you want with a case, but it has room for itself, that or granola bars if you need to connect your granola bars to a USB port. um and it only works when the bike is on um when the key is off you get no power so you don't drain the battery, presumably the last question from Adam Skye tattoos, the GPS navigation baked into the TFT dash is a big selling point For long distance commuters like me, how does its functionality compare to that of an aftermarket GPS peripheral device?
Yeah, so we covered that a little bit, I think the step-by-step stuff that they built into the dashboard can be done through the phone and the apps is cool, but it's really not as good as a mount that you put on the handlebars or BMW systems that have the Garmin type of auxiliary GPS. I think they have factory built-in mounts for me, that's If you really want to know that kind of stuff, that's what you want, they're not there yet with the navigation app on motorcycle dashboards with the possible exception of Apple Car Play on the Gold Wing, for example, which can be quite clever. because um carplay has a lot of development behind it, but um, until you know there's always something to keep going for, you know there's always more bridges to cross for motorcycling, but this is a big step, the first bike equipped with radar for a daily rider, uh, yeah, I had a blast, let's put it on the daily router leaderboard, see where it stacks up, okay, okay, we're all here, daily user leaderboard, I'm staying on the side of multiv4.
I pushed him in here for this part of the ceremony where we talk about where the multi is. -strata v4s drops in the daily rider leaderboard as a friendly reminder here um it's the top of the leaderboard uh kawasaki versus 650 108 700 after the twin adventure sports and I'm going to tell you I've been here for a long time time. Now I don't know where to go I don't know where we're going with this is the multistrada v4s better than an adventure sport africa twin we're really playing with the podium here I drove 328 miles I think with one tank of gas in Africa 20 adventure sports, the africa twin sports adventure sports is huge and it's a little cumbersome and speaking of cumbersome, the dashboard and all the touch screen and the features and stuff are not as good as the ducati, i think the ducati is a little more accessible, It's a little bit easier to handle and certainly a little bit easier to push in your front yard, so I think it's better, I think a multi-straw is better than an Africa twin, so I think I'm giving it the knob, it's better than a 10 700 108 700 it doesn't have the range so they are your tit for tat at that point you are talking about character and usability and the tenery 700 is a great bike but it isn't. multistrada v4, I mean, this bike goes, stops and turns better than that bike again 108 700 better off road, so the verse that it has, you know, it has some versatility, that's good, but yeah, just from the features point of view and warmed this up on that.
From the point of view that's a lot of motorcycles you understand so yeah I think it's better than a 10700 so the big kahuna they're all better than a Kawasaki versus 650 and some of you laugh I get it you say, obviously of course a la multistrada is better than a versus 650, what the hell are you smoking? The only thing that's worse is it's three times the price range versus this has to be 250 miles like most of 300 miles on a tank of gas and versus 650 with luggage and it does versus it has adjustable wind protection, no from the cab actually, but it does have it versus 650 it's also a little smaller, you know, easier, more accessible, easier to get into, easier to push in the driveway or in the garage, if that's it the question. you're worried about um like I said this is going to be controversial um but here goes the multistrada v4 in the rankings and yeah it's going to the top of tippy tippy and I know you're thinking oh you know he I just fell in love Of course you love the 25 000 bike.
I want to make it clear that the kawasaki vs the 650 lt is just as good if not better as a motorcycle than the multistrada v4 as a daily driver, it sure doesn't have all the features. which, you know, heated grips would see that kind of thing on the dashboard, but it's good to get to work, it's the radar that pushes me over the edge, it's a legitimately innovative useful dynamic safety feature and maybe you don't. you have blind spots in your daily commute and maybe you don't have 25,000 in the bank to spend on a motorcycle, in which case you should get a versus 650 if you want or any of the others here at the top of the board that I would recommend, obviously They are all excellent bikes in their own right but yeah I have to give it a thumbs up I don't know what your bank account is like and may the best bike win I am very impressed with the multistrada v4 it is smoother and more reasonable than I expected I never expected, while maintaining that fire and sporting ability that the Multistrada has always had and will tell you when you are going to become a car. the freeway, I know, I know it's a, I'm getting a little, I'm getting a little emotional here, you know, I've taken off just one level for the versus 650, but it's still at a very high level, that's the ending of In this episode of Daily Rider, I hope everyone had fun.
I hope you learned something. See you next time on Daily Rider. Questionable weather conditions. I thought it might rain on us. Maybe still, but we're all waterproof. boots butterproof gloves pants jacket I don't actually think the camera is waterproof with audio connected but yeah, worried about me and not the camera, that's not very flattering but anyway, I hope not it rains on us
