gas in Turkmenistan Well, they built the derrick and started exploring when one day everything imploded creating a large crater. Well, the solution was to simply configure it. on fire, it will burn down in a couple of weeks and then everything will be fine. Well, they set it on fire in 1971 and it's still burning today and has become a tourist destination. Tonight's study is one that is very dear to us. my heart because when I learned the truth about this topic it changed my life let's talk about what the bible says about the reward of the wicked I hope no one there is planning that but understanding what the bible teaches about this actually affects your impression of god and there are so many different interpretations and there are different extremes that you find that one group says that there is no punishment for the wicked and that everyone will be saved and that there is no hell and the other group has like a high intensity and disgusting torture chamber for centuries endless and somewhere between these extremes you will find biblical truth, but let's go and find out what some of our friends on the street have to say about the lesson.
Tonight is called the

final

firestorm

, what do some of the citizens of American cities think about the subject of hell? I guess it's just that you know all your worst fears, you're just living your worst nightmares over and over and over again, I think. It's hot as hell, I don't think it's burning like the wildfires, but I think the temperature has really risen almost like hot yoga. You know, it could be this here. You either make your time on earth heaven or you make your time in heaven. hell on earth, I think it would be having your mind still alive, completely isolated from the rest of humanity, all the worst possible things, like no alcohol, no attractive guys, I mean, it would be everything you hate.
Hell is like heaven, a spiritual realm where they are with damn satan and the rebel angels that followed him, I don't know, I just drove through gary indiana and it seemed like a pretty bad place, but I don't think it was on fire, well , it's not here, it's pretty cold today I guess I think there's a hill because I feel like bad people deserve to go somewhere. It's like a sentence. You lost your crime. You wasted your time. I think we are living in some kind of hell. here on earth it's kind of like what you do with it, it's a comment to make people live a better life while they are on earth, otherwise they will somehow regret it at the time of their death, don't I know because I've never done it.
I have been to hell and I don't expect to ever go to hell. The people who will be in hell are all those who violated the laws, precepts and decrees of the creator. Anyone who has made other people's lives difficult, well, there you go. Friends, that's very clear, it's very clear that people don't really know what the Bible teaches on the subject because the average commentary is all over the place, but I think you'll find out as we explore what the Bible says about this. There's actually good news about hell in God's word, so you know, I thought we wanted to start with the revelation before we move on to our lesson.
If you go to revelation and in chapter 20 you find this, well, I'll start with the verse. 11. Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat on it, from whose presence the earth and the sky fled and no place was found for them and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God and the books were open and another book was opened which is the book of life and the dead were judged according to their works by the things that were written in the books and the sea and the dead that were in it sorry the sea gave up the dead that They are in it and death in hades they handed over the dead that were in them and they were judged each according to their works then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire this is the second death and the one that is not found written in The book of life was thrown into the lake of fire, so there you have it now, as is our custom, I always like to go back a little in the Bible and look at stories, the Bible has many stories and the stories are there for some reason. way helps us understand theology, so if we go back to the book of Genesis, you may remember the story of Lot, who was Abraham's nephew, and the Bible tells us that Lot and Abraham had so much material that they couldn't coexist. more and abraham said look if you go east I will go west you go north I will go south choose the land you want to go and I we will just part ways so we can remain friends and much he He looked down into the Jordan Valley in the far south, it was like the garden of God, it was irrigated and it was beautiful, so he said, "I am going to pitch my tent toward Sodom and Gomorrah in the cities of the plain, but the Bible says there was a problem genesis 13 13 The men of Sodom were extremely evil and that did not last long under God's attention.
Over time, God said to Abraham, I am going to judge those cities and Abraham began to pray and intercede for his fate as a nephew. Some angels were sent to rescue him. Lot before this destruction fell on those evil cities and they said escape for your life, don't look back, escape to the mountain so you won't be consumed and that word consumed there means to be devoured, burned, then the lord reigned over Sodom and gomorrah. sulfur and fire of the lord from heaven and looked towards sodom and gomorrah this is talking about abraham and behold the smoke of the country rose like the smoke of a furnace abraham could see from the valley of the Jordan a terrible cloud of smoke rose like a mushroom catastrophe had fallen on that city and god had carefully said through the angels he told lot and his family don't look back escape to the mountains don't look behind you and the bible says his wife looked back and became a pillar of salt and if you go these days to the southern part of the dead sea, the dead sea is of course a large salt basin and they extract tons of salt from there every year, there are many salt columns and many of the locals say Well, this is Lot's wife and no, this is Lot's wife and I'm sure that whatever that pillar was is probably no longer standing, so with that as a backdrop let's find out what it says the Bible on the subject of hell. now to begin with question number one what are the two cities that are given in the bible as an example for the destruction of the wicked then these stories give us an example you can read where peter tells us in second peter 2 verse 6 converting the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah reduced them to ashes and condemned them with an overthrow making them an example for those who should later live ungodly and there on the right of the screen you will see an image of some of the desolate mountains that you find nearby where they believe that Sodom and Gomorrah Gomorrah was once located now, add a free little amazing fact here.
I have several friends who have done some excavations there and embedded in the mountains a kind of petrified ash that is found down there or hardens, there is sulfur. balls and every once in a while when they go they pick one up and show it to me, excuse me I'm going to stay off camera for a second because I wanted to post this here but I don't want to leave it too close to where I'm preaching because it actually smells to sulfur. This is one of them. It is the only place in the world where you can find sulfur balls embedded everywhere in the ground.
It had rained, some of them fell to the ground or to the ashes upon impact and went out and remained like that. I've done experiments before in seminars like this or I just take a match, put it on the edge and it starts. burning blue and it was a big mistake because you know what burning sulfur smells like, it's like rotten eggs, so I don't do that anymore and I really don't want to turn on the fire sprinklers in our studio right now, no. To mention that I have a real problem when I start to smell the smoke from this, but I wanted to show you that they are real and in fact, they are so realthat I hit a napkin back here so I could wipe it off my fingers because it's like getting sulfur in your eyes if you don't do it anyway, so there's tangible proof that Sodom and Gomorrah really lived, that it's a real historical place there, so , when will the wicked be destroyed in hell? fire responded second peter 2 verse 9 the The Lord knows how to reserve the unrighteous so that they may be punished until the day of judgment. reserved and again the word that I have spoken the same will judge him on the last day the bible says that no one is burned in the hell is now going to happen when the lord comes following that judgment that we just read there in Revelation chapter 20. after that.
The Great White Throne Judgment I think it's very important to understand because I know people who are worried that a loved one may have our friend, they die in a clearly lost condition and suddenly they are plunged into this place of torment and it's very difficult to People imagine that their lost child or their spouse or family member is burning screaming and howling in a place of torment as they walk the earth and I remember years ago I called a radio station because it was a Biblical call-back. -On the show and I was listening and I was actually in the hills and all I had was a radio at the time and people were calling and asking Bible questions and this college student called and said, "You know, I'd like to believe." in jesus, but i have a hard time thinking that i could ever love a god who would take the objects of his creation that are all prone to sin and if they don't live godly lives, then he will immerse them in fire and brimstone through unceasing ages of sorrow of a short life and the commentator said well, who are we to question God? um you know he's God he can do whatever he wants I think that was a really good answer but then he called me a mother and I'll never do that. forget this I could hear the anguish in his voice he said uh brother talking to the man who is answering the questions he said my son died a few weeks ago in a tragic car accident he died instantly he crashed into a tree he was drinking he was not professing Christ or living a Christian life I just have to know if she is burning in hell now and the host tried to dodge the question directly because he could see that it was going to be very hard for her, but

final

ly she pressed him, he said according to the Bible, if he died and He wasn't saved, he's going to be in hell and he's going to burn there forever and you could hear the lady choke when she hung up the phone and that exercised me so much that I jumped.
My car and I drove 20 miles to the nearest phone. This was when I lived in the hills and there was no cell phone service back then. I didn't have a telephone. I drove to a friend who had a phone. I called the radio station and miraculously I got on this national radio program it's a miracle and I said let me tell you what the Bible says I hoped mom was listening because for me the topic we are about to study was very liberating, you see, I grew up and I went to several different schools, including two or three religious schools, where one of them in particular said that if you are good you go to heaven, if you are bad, you go to hell and hell they said is a place where you go as soon as you die if you die lost and you burn there forever and ever in molten fire and brimstone screeching and writhing and howling in misery and I started to think about it I said that would mean that after a hundred years ago I wouldn't want to burn for a minute and I couldn't imagine burning for an hour and then how horrible to think of a person burning for a hundred years and knowing that that would be their existence through eternity burning burning never without any relief, you know?
A few years ago we saw something horrible on the news, it didn't actually make it on the news, it was reported on the news that Isis had captured a Jordanian pilot and instead of beheading him they put him inside a cage and while videotaping they wet him. They threw a flammable liquid on it and then set it on fire and covered it with duct tape and I didn't see it. Just thinking about it made me cringe and everyone on the news and even in church said what monsters they were for doing something like that. and yet there are Christians who think that this is what the Bible says God is going to do with the lost children, so before you change the channel let me tell you that I believe there is a lake of fire.
I believe the Bible teaches that there is a hill. I don't think the Bible says that someone is burning there now we just read the two verses let me give you another one you know Jesus tells the parable of the wheat and the tares he says that when the Lord comes he will separate the tares from the good wheat and the tares will be gathered in bundles and burned and the tares, or rather, the good wheat will be gathered into the granary, so when does this happen? Matthew 13 40 Jesus said, therefore, the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be.
At the end of this world the Son of Man will send his angels and they will gather those who do iniquity and throw them into a furnace of fire. When do you say that is going to happen? He says the end of the world has come. It hasn't happened yet so no one is burning in hell now if the wicked who have died aren't in hell yet where are they? Yesterday we studied the topic of death. It is quite clear that Jesus said John 5:28-29, the hour is at hand. The future tense does not. it happened yet in which all those who are in the tombs will hear his voice and those who have done good will come out to the resurrection of damnation uh those who have done evil rather to the resurrection of damnation and those who have done good to the resurrection of life the wicked is reserved for the day of destruction, but he will be taken to the grave and will remain in the tube and that is the job 21 verse 30 and 32. he must remain in the grave, it will be at the end of the world.
Now there is no one burning in hell, so what is the reward or punishment for sin? I think this is an extremely important point in this study. What did the Lord say to Adam Eve? If you sin, you will die. The devil said you won. 't die romans 6 23 the wages of sin is death but god's gift is eternal life through jesus christ our lord there are only two options through jesus you can have life without jesus you do not have life the bible does not say that you are in this almost semi-conscious burning state you are not a god of the immortal soul and god only has immortality the bible says that if you believe in jesus you live if you do not die you cease to exist you are finally punished according to what you deserve and you burn let me give you more verses to prove this friends God told Adam and Eve not to take his hand take from the tree of life eat and live forever in other words God did not want man to be immortalized as a sinner and said we will block his path to the tree of life. life unless saved by the blood of Jesus, we cannot eat of the tree of life, he says, lest he eat and live forever.
In other words, if you can't eat from the tree of life, you don't live forever, you don't have immortality, so the penalty was death, yes, there is a resurrection and a judgment for the wicked, but then they are thrown into the land. the lake of fire and they are punished according to what they deserve and then consumed let's give them more verses what are the only two options for all men all humanity all humanity that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life Moses said In Deuteronomy chapters 30 and 31 behold, I put before you this day a choice you have life and good and blessing or death and evil and curse there is no third option Jesus said if you are not with me, you are against me if you have the sun you have life if you don't have the sun you have death and it is a matter of life and death it is not a life in heaven and a matter of life and hell eternal life is given to the redeemed now think about this what is the penalty for the sin?
We just read it. It is the right to death. The punishment of the sin is the death. Did Jesus pay our penalty? He died on the cross. If the penalty for sin burns forever. So Jesus didn't pay our penalty because he went to the cross he suffered terribly he paid for all our sins and our suffering he died he paid the penalty he rose again it's like in the book of Daniel the king said Daniel if anyone prays to anyone but the king for 30 days he will go to the lion den, which is the equivalent of a death decree, the king did not want him to leave, he tried to free him, but he said: look, I have to fulfill the letter of the law and God is a loving father but he is also a king and he must fulfill the letter of the law that says that the penalty for sin is death Jesus took our penalty to pay that Daniel went to the lions' den spent a night in the lions and then they took him out because the king says look I have kept He fulfilled the requirements of the law now he can be released daniel he is not gone forever you know I had an experience and this is a photo I took this year I was driving you have to get the photo friends no I don't know where in the country or where what country you're looking at, but this year we've had some of the most terrible fires in California history.
Two years ago we had the worst fires we have ever seen. had had and now it was even much more devastating from our front door. We have an old house in the hills in Mendocino County, Northern California. We saw the lightning strike the next day. I was getting some exercise in the hills with a bulldozer and I told Caroline to work until she got dark and then I'm going to go over the mountains. To take a shortcut. Really, you know, it's a two-hour dirt road through the woods to save some time and get home. The sun set.
I ran and turned around. one turn and I saw one of the rays and this is a photo I took and I went around other times I saw other rays and I didn't want to go back it meant a long six hour drive I said I think I can I made it so I kept driving and finally I said the turn to turn, I saw this and I have several other photos I can show you and I thought, well, maybe this is just a patch I can get over, so I drove. in a way because at first the fire was just burning on one side of the road, but then I kept going, it was burning on the other side of the road and then I backed up about a quarter of a mile and said I guess I didn't want to.
To back up I said, I think I can make it, I turned around again and went even further, but then the smoke started coming in through the vents and it was blocking the headlights and I couldn't see, I said Doug, do you really want to? die? This to me would be one of the most terrible things that could happen: getting caught in a fire like that and the thought that the Lord would throw someone in there and burn them for eternity. I'll tell them I got out. Obviously that night I got a text from a friend saying that the exit had also been hit by lightning, there was a fire there and I was driving for hours in the mountains trying to find a way out and you can tell I was praying because I kept thinking this is spreading rapidly and ended up becoming the largest fire in California history.
It was 1 million 30 acres not far from our house, so yeah, you don't want to end your life in a fire, what will happen to it? wicked in hell fire says for a little while and the wicked will not be but the wicked will perish in smoke they will be consumed that is psalm 37 verse 10 and verse 20 they will perish they will be consumed they will not be I mean what other ways can God say it if Is God trying to communicate with us? The wicked are going to burn, they are going to be punished, but they burn, they perish, they will not be consumed, they are devoured, they are burned.
I mentioned that but we will look at some other verses malachi 4 verse 1 and verse 3 the day is coming that will burn like in a furnace and all those who do evil will be stubble the bible says that the coming day will burn them up and you will trample on the wicked because they will be ashes under the soles of your feet. Now this is a gruesome image on the right. This is in Pompeii and when I was 16 I lived on a boat and we sailed around one of the places we went to was the ruins of Pompeii, the cities of Pompeii and Herculeam were at the base of the volcano Vesuvius, which exploded around the year 73 AD It took the city completely by surprise.
It shouldn't have taken them completely by surprise because they felt earthquakes a few days before some of the springs stopped working but they stayed in the city and it was enough, the city was a great hotbed of vice that they discovered in the ruins, there are only brothels around everywhere and the paintings on The Wall was very explicit and a lot of the Roman soldiers went on vacation there and I'll leave that to your imagination, but it was some kind of trial that a lot of people think and all these people were trapped by the hot ashes and the gases killed.
They fixed them and buried them and basically entombed their bodies until 1800 years later when someone discovered the ruins again and they discovered that they could pour plaster of Paris into the empty chambers and they found the forms of the people who had died in that terrible disaster. Let's think about Sodom and Gomorrah, praise the Lord, they are not burning yet today, so where will the fire of hell be located? You can read in Revelation 20 verse 9 they went up across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and then it tells us and fire came down from God from heaven and devoured them there is that word again consumed devour I always tell peopleIf you want to know what it means to devour, invite me to a Mexican dinner and I'll show you what it means everything was gone and then they burned, you realize, it doesn't say that hell is down there.
We start with that amazing fact about the gate to hell in Turkmenistan and people always know that they believed this Vulcan god existed because that's where you get to. the word volcano, lava came out of the earth, people thought the devil mistook him for a Greek god and that he was there and in charge of this hot place below, the reason there is confusion is because there are four words . which is translated as hell in the bible you have the word hades which comes from greek mythology and is connected to pluto who was in charge of the place in the dark where the dead went, then you have gehenna which is the jewish word for am.
Sorry, it's a Greek word for uh, well, it's a Jewish Greek word for uh, the Valley of Hinnom which was just outside of Jerusalem, which was the city's garbage dump that was often full of smoldering rubble because they burned things. to keep the gas and the smell down and it had worms because, you know, they take unclean animals and throw them in there and that's why Jesus said you don't want to be in Gehenna, he says hell where the worm doesn't die and the fire doesn't go out, the city dump was always burning and full of garbage and that's what it's describing, so you have a word that only appears once in Greek literature, it's in Peter, where it's called Tatar and it just means a place of darkness and then the most common word in the Old Testament is sheol and that simply means the grave that the bible even talks about, you know, David and others, they describe anyone who goes to the grave, they call him a shield, a Sometimes it is translated hell, that confuses people, but it just means that below does not mean that there is a fire. place where people go when they die below it says that when the lord comes the elements will melt with fervent heat the earth too and the works that are in it will be burned so where does hell burn on earth or on the earth did the fire descend ? outside of god on earth then hell is going to burn here in sacramento it is going to burn in a city near you it is going to come down from heaven and the wicked after the judgment it rains and forms a lake of fire that god uses to purify the world.
Will the devil be in charge of the fires of hell? We've probably seen the comics and the stories where satan is shown and he has his pitchfork and apparently that's so he can know, make sure everyone cooks evenly when we're being punished and could we trust the devil to be fair and Will he be in charge of hell? No, of course, he is not in charge of hellfire. Here's a surprising fact that actually carries a lesson called "The Devil is in Charge of Hell" and I want you to do it. Look at some on the left, I have one of the typical images you find of the devil in charge of hell, on the right you have the Greek god Pluto with his semi-trident and the hellhounds you've probably heard of. he and he even has horns and this is where Greek mythology comes from and during the dark ages they started to employ some Greek mythology with Christianity and they mixed it all up and we will say more about what happened during That Time in a future study, but you know, unfortunately It is true that during the medieval times, because people were so scared by this teaching of hell, I know one of the people on the street we interviewed realized this and developed this terrifying construct because of that they could manipulate people. people are afraid and might say: you know your loved one died lost and is burning in hell right now, but if you make a good donation, we will get them out of purgatory or limbo.
I do not find the teachings of purgatory or limbo anywhere mentioned in the Bible. The idea of purgatory is the idea of perg as a purge that they are going to be saved, but they are not good enough, they have to burn for a while, but if you make a big enough offering, say enough prayers, you can, in fact, you can save them from hell, that is also heresy because only Jesus is the one who saves anyone, we cannot, we can pray for people, but we do not determine their fate when they have died jesus is their judge so this has been something that this false teaching has been used by the church to often manipulate people into fear says that in the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone is satan in charge of hell or is he going to go there yes he is not in charge of hell He and his angels are going there.
Will the fires of hell ever go out? This is the part that I think is very important for us to understand that there will be no cold to warm us nor fire to sit before it tells us and you will trample down the wicked and we already mentioned this verse because they will be ashes under the soles of your feet the Bible tells us. It says that when we leave the new Jerusalem, heaven and earth become new, that God, from the ashes of this purified world, will create a new world where there will be no more pain or suffering and the Bible tells us, blessed are the meek, they will inherit the earth now.
You know, they say some of the The most fertile soil in the world can be found in Hawaii, where these volcanoes that have exploded in many places around the ring of fire create this very rich soil and within a few years of the volcanoes exploding, you can see that in Hawaii there has been a lava flow. and a few years pass and suddenly things begin to plant and grow and they are rich and green and on this purified planet god is going to create a beautiful new sky and a new earth where justice lives well some people say okay doug we are with you the body is not It burns forever but the soul is immortal and the soul burns forever I hope you believe what Jesus says on this subject you can read here do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul Christ said this but rather fear the one who can destroy the soul and the body in hell what is destroyed in hell only the body what jesus said body and soul destroyed in hell the bible says that the soul that sins will die in ezekiel 18. it does not say that the soul of It somehow separates itself from the body and continues to be aware that we exist in our body unless god gives us supernatural vision, then who will help us present it? the fire of hell is lit matthew 25 41 depart from me, cursed to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels, and there you have it, god does not want you in hell, the devil and the fallen angels who followed lucifer, finally They will find their end. in the lake of fire you can read in Revelation chapter 12 satan has come down with great wrath because he knows that his time is short and frequently when jesus met demons they jesus son of god we know who you are you have come to torment us before the time they know that his day of judgment his time is approaching now those who do not trust and love the lord will share the fate of the devil you already know Jesus in Matthew 25 he said I was hungry and you did not feed me I was thirsty you did not give me a drink I was naked and I did not you clothed me, I was a stranger or in prison you did not visit me and they will say, Lord, when we saw you like this, they will say as long as you did not do it to one of these least ones, you did not do it to me, go cursed to the eternal fire prepared for the devil in his angels and so, if we live selfish lives like the fallen angels, we will share the destiny. of the devil and the fallen angels but if we allow the Lord to enter our hearts and transform us we will share the destiny of Jesus and we will be with him in heaven the only two destinations the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire into sulfur where they are the beast and the false prophet that's revelation 20 verse 10. so you know, I just want to pause here and I'll tell you a quick story I was driving years ago through Texas, I used to live in Texas and uh.
I was driving a little Mazda GLC, uh, just a little Japanese rice burner, and it was Christmas Eve and I passed a family, a husband, a wife and two daughters, and they were on the side of the road in the middle of a big stretch of in West Texas and the car was broken down, the hood was up and I like to help people when I can. He used to do mechanical work, so I stopped and talked to him a little bit and said, well, it sounds like your alternator to me. He left and I thought, well, you know what he's going to do, I said, look, I'll tell you what I'll tell you, which is really funny when you think about it.
I had about eight miles to go, I said, I'll tell you to my house. and we'll see what we can figure out, so it's fun to see a little Mazda towing a big old cadillac on the roads of Texas, get home and, um, I said, look, you need new brushes for your alternator, I can't. fix that until tomorrow we found a store open why don't you spend the night they are in the middle of nowhere there are no hotels in this city and then they kindly accepted that it was a Baptist pastor and we started talking and the subject of hell came up I said brother, you know that my father was a Baptist and when I was first baptized I was baptized by a Baptist and I said I'm pretty familiar with what you believe on this subject, but I would have to respectfully disagree according to the Bible and I started going over some of the verses I said, You know, the Bible says that the wicked are burned to consume, they will perish, they will be devoured, they are no longer heaven, no more pain, no more suffering, no more sadness. and I just went through a bunch of verses and pretty soon he was pacing back and forth for a minute and then he sat there silently and maybe it's because I was hosting him but finally he said, well, brother Doug, I've seen these verses. before and it made me think that he said, but if I told my people that they don't go to hell if they die lost, they won't come to church, that's what he told me and I said, do you mean they go to church because they have Fear of hell is like fire insurance.
They don't go to church because they love the Lord and want to serve Him now. I admit that they want to go to heaven and wanting to avoid hell might be an appropriate starting point. for a believer, but if people go to church for years and the only thing that motivates them is selfishness, they want to stay out of hell and they want to go to heaven, they haven't understood Christianity, but Christianity is supposed to be where you are . I am motivated by love of God and love of neighbor and yet many people go to church like it is fire insurance and I think that is so tragic and the worst part is that it changes their image of God, see to God as some kind of sadist who is going to torment people for eternity for the brief sins of his life think about this I'm sorry, some of this escapes my mind the idea that people burn forever and ever without no matter what their sins are that means that adolf hitler who was responsible or stalin or pol pot responsible for the death of millions I think the one who receives the award based on history is stalin they are actually going to burn in hell the same amount of time that cain who killed a person his brother that sound It's fair or think about it, you have a teenager who has reached the age of responsibility, he gets discouraged, he takes his life, the highest suicide rate is among teenagers, so here He has a 15 year old boy who gets confused and takes his own life.
Then they die in a lost condition, they are going to burn in hell along with Adolf Hitler for eternity for the sins of 15 years, where is the justice in that and after a billion years they try to swim to the surface of the molt ? of fire and brimstone god screaming how long does it say you just started pushes it down again i mean this is this is what people actually is a quote from a sermon this is what some people believe and it's no wonder stay away from christianity you I know why um darwin walked away from christianity because he lost a son and did not understand the teachings of hell and others said they were going to burn forever and the famous atheists ingersoll and thomas paine and voltaire heard this teaching about hell and they thought if that's true, God is a monster and many people have turned away from God because they don't understand this and I guess you can say I'm passionate about it because I didn't know how I could love a god who was like that, I mean. you would just serve them simply out of abject fear, but once I saw that God is a god of love, it changed everything, so how does the Bible refer to God's destruction of the wicked?
Is it something he enjoys? The Lord may be angry about that. he will do his work his strange work and carry out his act the bible describes it and describes it as a strange act look what god loves is blessing god loves to love he loves to give life what parents enjoy punishing their children any thing father who enjoys punishing his children there is something wrong with what is going on in his mind and heart that is sadistic there is something wrong sometimes you have to do it because you love your child but no parent would do it because he enjoys it god does not enjoy it it is his strange act jesus likes to give life you know I remember when I lived in the mountains and I think I shared with you that I lived there if you heard my testimony yesterday morning I lived in a cave for about a year and a half and while I lived there in the The cave had a pet cat that I called a stranger and I fed a stranger some cat food, but I wanted them to keep the cave mouse free ofproblems, that's you.
I know that cats are not like dogs, if a dog catches a gopher, a mouse or something like that, he eats it in two bites, they don't even chew, but he is not a cat, they want to make the most of their catch and have a tendency to play. its food and so strange every time I caught a cat uh every time it was strange every time I caught a mouse you know I played with it a little I always felt so sorry for the poor little things that I would catch it and then let it go and it tried to jump and he pounced on it again and one day I was in the cave, it was night, I was cooking my macaroni and a stranger liked to show me when he surprised him, he had caught a kangaroo rat.
Cute little things that jump around with a long tail and he brought it over to show me and he had it there and he dropped it in the sand and tried to get it out. He pounced on it and I'm going to inject a little story into this story. Once when that was happening, a pygmy owl was watching from the trees. A stranger released the mouse to give him a little head start to see if he would do it. he ran away, the pygmy owl came down, grabbed the mouse, then my cat jumped on the owl, grabbed the owl and the mouse ran away.
I just want to tell you that sometimes there is a happy ending for the mouse, but in any case, he had this little kangaroo rat. Now we're back to our previous story and the poor little guy is shaking, I would let him go and try to jump away and jump on him again, make cat noises and then leave him. it worked again and that poor thing was so dazed and shocked that in a desperate attempt to escape it jumped aimlessly and jumped into my fire and right here I heard it again in the studio, the audience said oh and it was, you know, it was heartbreaking . one little thing, I couldn't do anything, you know, he jumped into the fire and yeah, you know, wipe a tear, he jumped into the fire and just for a minute he rode, then he screamed and it only took a couple of seconds and then he died and I tell the people that story and they go and I think: wait a second, we're talking about a mouse, this is a little rat, people can't stand the thought of a rat suffering in a fire for 10 seconds and yet they think they can loving a god who will torture human beings and let's face it everyone who is born has been born with a tendency to sin and who will take these creatures and torture them endlessly is a true distortion of what the bible teaches and now there are some difficulties verses and We are going to see them.
I don't think we should be afraid of any of the Bible verses. We invite your questions because we will answer them immediately after the study. Isn't that the biblical phrase, insatiable fire? indicate that the fire is never put out properly, some people say, doesn't it say that they are burned with unquenchable fire? yeah, what does that mean, let's let the bible explain the bible, let's look here, for example, in matthew chapter 3 verse 12, he will. He completely purges the soil from him and gathers his wheat into the barn, but he will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire and I believe these are teachings of John the Baptist, what does that mean?
Look in Jeremiah 27, the people of God where I feel it, Jeremiah. 17 verse 27 and God's people were rebelling against the Lord and he sent messages through Jeremiah for them to repent. Our Nebuchadnezzar the king was going to come, he was going to destroy the city and burn the temple and burn the city and this is what one of the warnings was that if you do not listen to me to empty the Sabbath and not carry burdens even entering through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath, then I will kindle a fire at the gates of Jerusalem and light a fire at its gates. devour the palaces of jerusalem and it will not be quenched what does that mean quench means extinguished that means it is an act of putting it out that means that god was going to light a fire that they could not put out until the fire had burned out if something catches fire wait to be able to put it out quickly with fire you don't want it to burn something if it is precious the people repented no Nebuchadnezzar came yes he burned the city and the gates and the palaces yes someone put out the fire no, it was burned with unquenchable fire yes, it still burns today no, this This is what God is telling us that the wicked are going to burn and he is going to do an eternal, complete, thorough work.
The work of fire is eternal. If your eye makes you sin, take it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with a eye instead of having two eyes to be thrown into the fire of hell where his worm does not die and the fire does not go out properly again this is where jesus is using the term hellfire, he is talking about gehenna and he is saying: you know what It is better that you cut your hand, your foot, put out your eye and go to heaven mutilated. Now, first of all, does anyone go to heaven mutilated?
So we know who Jesus is. using uh you know, an illustration here says then with your whole body going into gehenna and right where he's teaching this, not far away is the valley of hinnom that was probably still smoking and where the fire doesn't stop it so it always They kept it burning and the worm doesn't die again there were worms and there were worms and it was burning it was a disgusting garbage dump he said you know what it benefits from if you win the whole world you lose your soul you better cut your hand and tear yourself out take out your eye do whatever sacrifice you need to make to get to heaven it would be better if you got there you are missing a member but no one in heaven will be missing a member jesus is illustrating something here he is simply saying inextinguishable fire there are no firefighters in hell there will be no firefighters walking down the street Earth when God reigns over fire extinguishing anything, it will be burned with eternal and inextinguishable fire.
Right now, I have a plexiglass pulpit here and it's something unique we've ever had. it's custom made it says amazing facts on the front if this caught fire and burned and no one put it out this pulpit would burn with eternal fire it would never exist again the results of the fire would be eternal it would be gone forever that's what god is saying When talking about eternal fire, doesn't the phrase eternal fire mean endless? Let the Bible explain the Bible even when Sodom and Gomorrah are presented as an example suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. a verse similar to this one from peter here is another one in jude verse seven there is only one chapter in the book of jude where sodom and gomorrah were burned with fire from god here is a judgment they are still burning no, they are not burning today in fact there is another photo of one of the pillars they say it is Lot's wife you know it is interesting what Jesus said speaking about the end he said remember Lot's wife when we enter the last days and you must flee do not look back do not return to your house Remember the wife From Lot, he has given us a clear warning that we must flee when the abomination of desolation sets in.
We have a study coming up on what the abomination of desolation is and you can go down today a couple of years ago, pastor. Ross, Karen and I were with our families and some friends by the Dead Sea and that effect was that we swam at the lowest point of the Dead Sea on Earth. It is interesting that Sodom and Gomorrah were burned at the lowest point on Earth and you can go down there. In such a hot and arid region, they have never tried to resurrect that area, it's just that it's a desolate and arid wasteland, so when Revelation 20 verse 10 says that the wicked will be tormented forever and ever, that doesn't indicate a endless time, now you do find that Verse in Revelation 20 verse 10.
It says that the devil and his angels are thrown into the lake of fire and are burned day and night forever and ever. What does that mean? Does that mean that we will sit in our mansions and go out on the balcony with popcorn and we will look and watch the wicked burning in the lake of fire forever and ever? No, the Bible tells us that there is no more pain in heaven. look at the word forever in the book of jonah chapter 2 verse 6 jonah is devoured by the sea monster many say he is a whale and he says in his prayer the earth with its bars was around me forever when he was in this he wanted To say that he was at the foot of the mountains the earth with its bars and that he was imprisoned forever, he just meant that it seemed like an eternity, it seemed hopeless and you know, I've often thought that you know, if anything it probably felt like hell, did you?
Can you imagine Jonah? He is in that darkness. He is in the digestive system of some sea monster. It might have been the second or third thing on the menu that day, that means there are other things there with it, it could just be the stench and the sushi could have been stinging jellyfish or sea urchins, I mean, it must have been terrible. . experience and jesus said as jonah was in the belly of the fish so the son of man will be in the heart of the earth jesus suffering for the sins of the world experienced what the lost will experience all the suffering of the lost all the suffering that you and me we can get into that lake of fire for our sins experience of jesus so that you don't have to do it is jonah still in the whale no, he tells us that he was there three days and three nights jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights he says forever but it was not forever a few verses quickly revelation 14 11 the smoke of his torment ascends forever and ever that does not mean that it continues to rise forever and ever that means it rises forever and ever and some once out of sight when it came back up living in Texas every 10 miles ahead of the city every town had a city landfill the farmers brought their 55 gallon drums they burned their trash and dumped it in the city landfill a I often used to burn the garbage and sometimes they would throw it away and it would still be burning and you would see these plumes of smoke every 10 miles rising from the landfill on a clear day and it would go forever out of sight, that's all it means no It does not mean that we will forever be watching this furnace of evil burn not only does it mean that it is lost from sight, what does the expression forever and ever mean?
Well, in heaven you have to read the context, we get eternal life, but look at the exodus. 21 If you had a servant who was freed but wanted to stay with you, he would go through a ritual where he would then commit to serving the master forever, that meant the rest of his life until he died when Hannah took Samuel to the temple she said I brought him here to serve the lord forever, what does that mean for the rest of his life until he died? And you can read that there in 1 Samuel 1 verse 28 as well, so you find several places in the Bible where the term forever was. used as a kind of hyperbole, talking about something that was going to last forever and ever and ever is a biblical expression that means until the end of time and actually the word in Greek is eon, did you ever have the opportunity to say well, I haven't seen it. them in eons you've heard someone say that well it doesn't mean you haven't seen them forever it means a long time and for any of the wicked, hell will feel like a long time question 16 after sin and sinners are destroyed that what Jesus will do for his people and you can read this here in um he tells us ii peter 3 verse 13 however, according to his promise we expect new heavens and a new earth where justice dwells he is going to make all things new and god will wipe away all the tears tears from their eyes and there will be so much death, no more death, no sorrow, no crying, no more pain.
God is going to create a universe where there is no more pain, not now. I don't know how God could say this any other way, he says that the wicked consume themselves, They burn, they perish, they are burned with eternal fire, there is no more pain, there is no more sadness, all things become new, they are mortal, they die. re devoured are stubble they um consume I mean the language that God uses what other words did he omit to not make this clear but some have manipulated this misunderstanding to manipulate people. Will the problem of sin arise again? the promise you find in the book of the name one verse nine you will see the scars on Jesus' hands and on his side everything he suffered for us you will remember it no one will want to experiment with sin again now I know there are people out there and you Tal You may have questions about this topic and I encourage you to visit a website.
There is much more we could say about this. It's very simple. It's called helltruth.com. Helltruth.com. A very popular site. Has a lot of information. Respond to everything. the typical questions, you can find some great videos there, I think you'll enjoy them too, but just to conclude, our last question: what penetrating question does Job ask in the book of Job? He says: Would mortal man be more righteous than God if we did so? We don't do this to each other if we love even someone who loves their pet as an act of mercy will sometimes put their pet out of their misery if they are suffering because we have sympathy we have love we are not more loving than god god will not find justice no will find satisfaction in the lost being immortalized in pain their last conscious thought will be their punishment and they have lost heaven forever but then they cease to exist they are burned they are consumed they are devoured there is no more there is a universe without more pain the bible says that all things become new if all things become new that means there are no old sinners out there burning you and I get new bodies we are born again we are new creatures thingsold things have passed away, there are no old sinners immortalized out there, the devil wants them to think that they are gods and that they will live forever but it is not true, our options are life and death and the reason is to serve God is not because you are afraid of him, we must reverence god but he wants us to do it because we love him you can trust him he is a god of love and a god of mercy friends you know and I hope some of You are seeing for the first time that this is a god you can trust , he is a god that you can reach, that you can love and he desperately wants to save you.
There is a punishment for sin. There is a lake of fire to which all men go. to be rewarded according to what he deserves, but if you come to Jesus, he will wash away your sins, he will write your name in the book of life and your sides will be covered by the blood of the lamb. You can have that experience now if you ask if I can pray with you before we close and don't forget, don't leave because we'll be back in a moment with your questions about the Bible, Father. I just want to lift up before you all the people who are listening and watching. right now and some have just had the scales fall from their eyes and for the first time are seeing biblical truth on this much maligned and misunderstood topic.
I pray that You will continue to reinforce the truth in their hearts, Lord, and help them draw closer to You knowing that You are a just and loving god and that they can trust You with their souls and therefore bless them. Lord, bless you. The seminar continues and I pray that many find their way to the kingdom as a result, we pray in the name of Christ. Amen, God bless you friends, we'll be back in about two minutes. We will begin by analyzing some of the questions we have Matthew chapter 25 verse 41 speaks of eternal fire for the wicked, is this eternal fire extinguished? Yes, we mentioned eternal fire in the presentation and eternal fire, it's basically the same principle that the Lord is telling us that the results of that. The fire is eternal, it is eternal, it does not mean that the fire continues to burn forever and ever. I know there are different cemeteries around the world and they have like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where they have the eternal flame burning and it's not like god is going to have an eternal hellfire burning like a memorial throughout the universe forever for the people coming to see a wicked person or being consumed means that the results of that fire are eternal, that is correct, otherwise, it would be eternal life for the wicked. suffering in hell, yes, but the reward of the wicked is death, exactly eternal torment, uh, another question you have, what about revelation 14 11, where it talks about the smoke of the wicked ascending through the centuries and centuries, yes, and do you know that we always receive the same thing?
There are about six verses that are repeated frequently and the one that deals with the unquenchable fire, the verse there in Revelation 20 where it talks about day and night forever and ever, that's probably one of the most difficult verses, but it talks about the devil there and if anyone deserves to burn more than a day, it will be satan and I can't even imagine burning for a day, but he is the one who instigated all sin, but ultimately even the devil, you can read in ezekiel chapter 28, it says that I'll bring. He will bring out a fire from your midst and devour you and I will burn to ashes on the earth and the sight of those who behold you, even the devil will eventually be reduced to ashes, but he may burn, he will probably burn longer.
Someone else, but it is finally there, it is rising forever, you will see the smoke disappear from view, it is as if Abraham saw the smoke of Sodom and Gomorrah rising like a furnace forever towards heaven, but it is not like that, they do not continue to burn. . forever, he is not immortalizing sinners, okay, I think we have another question that says: does the word hell, as used in the Bible, always refer to a place of burning or punishment? Yeah, good question, the word hell comes up a lot, especially if you're looking at the old version. testament uh it just means the grave and it translates from the word she and they used to say that he is going to go down to the shield sometimes in the Septuagint they use the Greek word hades because that was what they the word hades was interchangeable with the The Greeks was the place where the dead went that Pluto was in charge of, but it was also the word that they used just for the grave so many times that it just means grave and there are good kings in the Old Testament and bad kings, they all go to the grave, okay, well, we're ready for some of the questions that people have sent in, the first one we have is, pastor doug, is suicide an unforgivable sin, oh yeah, this is a tough question because, um, and we have this frequently on our radio show uh you're talking to two groups when you answer you want to be very careful uh if people think they can commit suicide some people are so discouraged that they're on the edge and if you offer They're hoping they can commit suicide and still be saved.
Some people want to check it because their lives are very miserable or they are suffering and it would remind them that it is a sin to kill and that would include committing suicide, which they would not want. the last act of your life is to commit suicide, but there are also people who know their loved ones or friends who because of some mental illness have lived good lives, they live godly lives, but they went through a period of terrible chemical change. or depression and God knows the heart and they may have taken their own life in a moment of weakness.
Will God judge his entire life by that moment of weakness? I think we need to stop saying that's the unforgivable sin because you know you even have stories in the bible like Samson who really was the one who took the last act that killed him, in a way he did it to defeat the enemies of God's people. and it is very possible that the philistines were about to kill samson but he said let me die with the god of the philistines filled him with his spirit and brought the building down on itself. Technically it was suicide in addition to killing enemies, but the Bible seems to tell us that in Hebrew Samson will be in heaven, so we must be.
Be careful not to say that everyone who has committed suicide is automatically lost. In fact, I know a person who took pills to commit suicide and before the pills took effect, he had a terrible remorse for what he had done, he called 9-1-1 and said that they didn't want to die and they were praying to live and They couldn't reverse the effect of the drugs and this person died so they had time to repent their birth certificate their death certificate will say suicide but they repented, you know? So sometimes it's a difficult topic. Well, another question is: Will God wipe all the tears from our eyes before or after the wicked are burned?
You know, in Revelation 21 is when God says that he will wipe away all the tears from his eyes at the resurrection. and even during the millennium we may discover, I know we will discover that there will be some people who we are very sorry not to see in heaven and I think we will be surprised by some people who we thought were just great Christians and We discover that there was some kind of terrible sin in their life to Sometimes it is revealed in this life sometimes it is not revealed until the next life and there can be some sadness if there is a loved one who is not there um and I don't believe that everything in heaven is always happy the angels sing when a lost person returns to the lord um but I think there are sad times in heaven and when Jesus was on the cross they didn't sing happy songs in heaven there may be some dark times in heaven where even though we are saved we will regret that we lost the time and means that could be used to reach others, but we are in heaven and after the millennium, god will wipe away all the tears from our eyes and there will be no more pain or sadness, no more tears and we will be totally healed in our hearts at that time. moment, okay, very good, another question we have is if God still gives us signs, for example, a dream or something, yes.
I think so. I believe that God gives me signs. I don't necessarily have visions or dreams, but sometimes, providentially, God will do something for me, which is just a very clear sign of his power. You know I'll be praying when I go. I pull into a busy parking lot and say, Sir, can I have a parking spot? And someone comes out right after I pray, right by the front door. I know it's pretty selfish, but you know something a little bit, it's a silly example, but sometimes the Lord. You know he does, we all see God's work in our lives, uh, many times and he directs us through his providence.
Sometimes I've been praying, I'm at the door, I shake his hand and I say, Lord, no. I want this person to know that I forgot his name. Can someone else around us say his name right after praying that prayer? Does anyone say his name? I've even made them say their own name and it reminds me and I feel so much better afterwards. Praise the Lord, he heard my prayers, so I am praying all the time and I see God answering the prayers well. Another question: how long did it take or how long did it take between satan being expelled from heaven before he tempted Eve?
Does the Bible count? us, it doesn't give us an exact time, you know, I don't think it was eons using that term or thousands of years, but because God wasn't going to let the devil run amok through the universe and cause problems for it. I think that after satan and his angels were evicted and things calmed down, he created our world and it wasn't long after satan came and then some people ask how long did adam and eve enjoy the garden before they sinned, the bible no It doesn't give us a specific time, but most likely it was less than a year and one of the reasons we say this is because God made Adam and Eve perfectly healthy with everything working perfectly, he said be fruitful and multiply and we assume that They obeyed his order. but they hadn't had children yet and it probably wasn't long.
I believe the devil caught them in their innocence very early after creation. Well, someone else is asking what I do if there isn't a church near me to attend. Yes. That is a very valid question now, especially in many churches, depending on which part of the world you know at the time of this recording, the coveted pandemic is wreaking havoc in several countries and cities and in some places. Public places of worship are discouraged if you do not have a place you can attend. Many churches have an online church. We invite you to go to Granite Bay Church.
We have Granite Bay sda. You can just go to Granite Bay. sda.org and we have several members online. I know there are many other churches that you can join in their worship services. Make sure it is a believing church that teaches the Bible, but it is important. I think we will miss something if we don't come together. Now, if your health doesn't allow it, we have many members in lockdown who can't do that and God understands, but if we can, it's important to come in person. I think we miss something if we don't. No, but I've been in situations before where there just wasn't a local church you could reasonably go to and we praise the lord for online technology in those cases.
Well, this person writes. I always thought the tribulation would last seven years, but when speaking. With a friend they said it wouldn't be seven years. Does the Bible say how long the tribulation will last? Yeah, you know, one of the reasons people tend to think that the tribulation will be seven years is because they look at the seven days that Noah was in. the ark and then they extrapolate one day as a year in the prophecy and say that's a symbol of seven years of prophecy or they look at Daniel chapter nine and take that last week in the um yeah, the 490 year prophecy of the chapter nine of Daniel and they say that a week a day is a year in the prophecy that would be seven years and they take it and float it somewhere at the end of time they say well that must mean there are seven years, you know, in the Bible, I find it.
A stronger argument now no one knows for sure, but I find a stronger argument for three and a half instead of seven because you know that thepersecution of Jesus was three and a half years, it is his ministry, the time when Stephen was murdered was three and a half years, Elisha. during the famine when he hid in the desert for three and a half years, so I don't know, I always thought that, if anything, the little moment of trouble would be closer to that, but it doesn't really say exactly, so, no I know. I don't know if you have any idea about that, well I think the closest we can see is that there is a verse in Revelation that talks about the plagues that are coming upon Babylon and it says that the plague will come in one day, you know, they are prophetic days that you will reach. a literal year, but that's the plague, so it looks like it will probably be at least a year, maybe more, we don't know, the Bible doesn't say for sure, let's hope it's not too long, in fact, if we look at the plagues, I can't go on for long because it says there will be no flesh left to say yes, its impact will be worldwide, okay, we have someone asking from Iowa, they say Matthew 27 52 53 says and the tombs were opened. many of the bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were resurrected coming out of the tombs after their resurrection, they entered the holy city and the question appeared to many: which city is it, was it this Jerusalem or was it heaven, yes, it is very clear.
From the context, Jesus was crucified just outside of Jerusalem, I think Paul is even referring to that you know Jesus wept over Jerusalem stoning the prophets, so this was right outside of Jerusalem, so it's about of a local resurrection in the vicinity of Jerusalem, it's pretty clear and then what happened to those people, we don't have any record of them in the early church, yeah, and it's only mentioned in the gospel of Matthew. so there was a small group, it doesn't say how many are many and that would mean that some of the saints who had died in and around Jerusalem, where their tombs were, not only did Jesus come out of his tomb, the earthquake occurred around Jerusalem. some of the tombs were opened and some of the saints maybe i'm just speculating but it could have been isaiah or some of the other saints, it wasn't david because peter says he is still in his tomb, some of the special saints that maybe They had given their lives for Jesus as Isaiah came out of their graves and appeared to others in the city and then ascended to heaven when Jesus ascended on Sunday afternoon after Mary saw him, okay, we have another question, my question is: Do the redeemed still have to do it? be judged at the great white throne judgment in Revelation 20 well, Paul says that we will all be before the judgment seat of Christ, so there is an aspect of the judgment that everyone has a part in, but we want Christ to be in a situation where Christ basically acts as our advocate during that time and pleads for his blood.
If we accept it now, then we will be part of what they call a pre-advent judgment. Look, the Bible tells us. Behold, he comes in the clouds. His reward is with him. the righteous and the dead in Christ, if they are resurrected first, some judgment must take place before he comes, we have a lesson on that folks, so keep them coming and we'll talk more about that, okay, we have another question that says um . I'm a little confused about Revelation 1 7 where it talks about the resurrection at the second coming and it says that those who pierce Jesus are the wicked resurrected at the second coming um yeah, the general resurrection is, of course, at the end of the millennium.
Tomorrow night we are going to be talking about the millennium but he tells us that there is something like a special resurrection. Some of those who were personally involved in the condemnation and judgment of Jesus are going to be resurrected and are going to be judged at the second coming and you also find in Daniel 12 it says some to eternal life others to eternal shame and contempt and then again He says that those who pierced him will also be resurrected and will see him coming in glory. that's what jesus said to the high priest, from here on you will see the son of man coming, so caiphus will be in that group, maybe judas, some of the soldiers who held the nails, people at the judgment, okay , here is an interesting question that says, if satan doesn't do it.
He knows our thoughts, can he influence our dreams? I think we know that the devil can put thoughts in our minds. He can't read our minds, but he can place things in our minds. I'm putting things in people's minds. I hate using that analogy. as I speak I mean putting a thought in someone's mind we know that intelligent beings can have satan do it on a more spiritual level so he can put things in people's minds and I'm sure he can do it while they are sleeping while they dream, they give them disturbing dreams, okay, I think work refers to a dream at night that gives you goosebumps, yes, so there is at least one example there, okay, who are the real Jews that this person asks, do we know who?
They are the truth, well, you know, I do not deny the reality that there are people who are Jews by blood and then also the Bible tells us that there are people who are Jews by faith. Paul says he is not a Jew, which he is. outwardly but he is a Jew who is one inwardly he says this in Galatians and Romans that whoever is of Christ is the seed of Abraham and you know that God is going to save the faithful Jews who believe in his words, no one is being saved according to his religion, god is no respecter of persons no, I said that wrong, no one can say that based on their um race, god is no respecter of persons, we are not saved based on our dna, uh, we are saved based on our faith, Jew or Gentile, so any Jew who believes in Christ he is part of that lineage of Israel, but if a Gentile believes, says he is grafted into the lineage and we become spiritual Jews, the new covenant is made with the house of Israel and I believe that God has a special plan for the Jews.
People, I believe there will be a revival among the Jewish people in the last days, but there is also a spiritual nation out there that we can share in those promises that God made to Israel, okay. Someone asks me if I have the holy spirit. Although I get angry and frustrated from time to time, well, when a person says that he loses his temper, he is usually not filled with the right spirit at that time, is it possible for a Christian to be temporarily influenced by the devil? An absolute example would be Where is Pastor Ross?
Is it Matthew 16 when Peter says you are the Christ, the son of the living god, yes, Matthew 16. Peter says you are the Christ, the son of the living god and Jesus said that flesh and blood has not revealed it to you? Peter, but my father, who is in heaven, and before 10 minutes pass, Jesus has to turn to Peter and say, get behind me, Satan, so you've probably seen that in your family where you know your spouse He's acting like an angel and then they. He's tempting you like a devil and then it can happen, it happens both ways and then you know, I think the devil works in all of us the disciples went out teaching and preaching and casting out demons and then they went to the upper room. and they discussed which one was the best and yes, those things can happen to everyone, right?
It doesn't mean that the holy spirit has abandoned you, maybe you are not listening to the holy spirit and you should repent and you know, ask God to guide you. and guide you, but yes, as Christians, yes, if we stumble and fall, it does not mean that God gives up on us and goes away, yes, it is true, yes, another question we have, says why God did not end the problem of sin right after. the flood, after all, all the sinners drowned, well, you know, I should have mentioned that in tonight's study, you know when in the days of Noah, God destroyed the world with a flood and said that next time would destroy with fire.
I think it's because God is merciful and I think the Lord wanted to show the devil that it almost seemed like the devil was winning in the days of Noah. God finds this only righteous family in the world. It's like the story of Job, he said. I know that there is no one like him on earth who fears me and keeps my commandments. I believe that in the last days God is going to have a nation of people who will surrender to him and be filled with the spirit. So, I believe in the mercy of him.
He raised up a remnant and God continues to raise up a remnant. He did it from Israel. You know, from Israel. He had Judah, who remained faithful and then Judah apostatized and saved a remnant of Babylon and then the Jews who returned. the captivity that has lifted up the church god is always bringing out a remnant while the devil is trying to destroy but I think in the last days there will be an army of at least 144,000 but I think it will be a huge crowd okay here's a One question interesting: was there a genuine risk that Jesus might have failed in his mission?
Well, I think that when Christ was separated from the father, he felt the sense that the lost feel that hopelessness, but the words that Jesus spoke before God withdrew his protection were always words of faith that he would rise again and so there was a good risk, I believe that God knows all things a tremendous battle was fought but heaven and earth will pass the word of God does not pass God promised that he would be successful and of course Christ said to live by faith in his father yes as our example but he believed and he held on to the problem sure he was tempted to doubt sure because christ was tempted yes the devil came to him well we want to thank you for sending in all your different bible questions, very good questions and keep sending them, tomorrow afternoon we will give you the opportunity to try to answer more of those biblical questions.
