in my art studio, bar workshop, space bar showroom. I guess I don't know, this serves a few purposes, but I mainly make things and have classes here, but I have a staging

, well. I have two prep walls, so I have a prep wall here and there, I see that thing that looks like green grass and instead of putting backgrounds up and down all the time and moving and fighting with all my furniture, I decided to create another wall for a bat. for me to photograph my furniture for my photography sorry, I'm trying to adjust my tripod here as I speak.

I wanted to add another wall that was more permanent in this area, you know, a backdrop to use as a photography backdrop. my furniture, so this ball was just white and had a, you know, fucked up backdrop. I had a backdrop like a

faux

wall of some type of fabric backdrop that was screwed to the wall and exactly where the tape is so where did I stick it. That's how big the backdrop I had was, so I used that backdrop. I laid out my tape lines so I knew where I wanted to do my finish and then gave it a very quick neck coat.

I just had a little love. or buttercream and drop cloth and maybe another color in some jars, so I put them all together. I wanted a grayish color and I need it enough to cover the whole wall so I just put together some half empty jars and got this color it's perfect because I just wanted a gray nothing fancy so I'm going to do some

faux

finishes and be real 100% honest right now. I'm not sure exactly how this will turn out. I know. I want to use multiple colors and layers to make a faux finish. I love my block.

You know how much I love my block of wood. I like to drag paint on things and create that kind of look. So I'll use block. distressing block to add some layers and then I have a

brick

template. I'm going to add some

brick

with some, maybe some raised bricks. I have some sea spray and then when mixed with paint to give it a color add some brick and then I'll have to wait for it to dry probably overnight it won't dry while it's here today so I'll add the brick and then do a few more layers on top of that fake brick, so like I said, I rolled. with just a quick layer of this gray mix I did it's not perfect you can see some spots here where it's like you know I could use another layer but I'm doing so many layers it won't really matter so that's why I agree that is very poorly done first, we're probably not done, the first coat doesn't have very good coverage because I'm going to apply a lot of coats on top of it, so it's not a big deal, so I take some more muted colors. because both finishes, when I want to create an old world type look finish, you want to use a lot of colors that are in the same type of family, not too contrasting, you want the kind of similar colors with similar tones and that's what creates a subtle texture like in concrete or brick, so I chose.

I have cotton, which is what I'm going to do with my brick and I'm going to mix this. It was sea spray, simply white. I'm going to mix it with sea. spray and do some popular bricks but I'll do it after adding a few layers first so for the different layers I have hurricane gray mud puddle, french linen and farmhouse cream so I think those will add and they're not too different. The colors aren't very contrasting or anything, so I'm going to create a very easy old world fish with a wooden wok and then I'm going to lift both smothering bricks, so I'm going to grab what I have.

I have a bigger plate. I'm going to start with hurricane gray. I usually start with the darkest or boldest color first and then work up the layers. I work my layers up to the lightest color, so I'm going to do hurricane gray first and I have some small plates that I'm going to put on a small plate for my hurricane gray so I can dip my block in there, we open it up, so I'll start with a little of hurricane gray that I had for a long time. About that I wanted to bring my big trowel like a big trowel like the ones construction workers used to mortar on bricks, but I only have this little block because I forgot my trowel, so it's just going to mean a little extra work, no.

It's not a big deal and I can take the trowel off because when I do the layers on top of the ball it's not totally flat, it's not like whoever makes the drywall is a little wavy, so if I look at the wall it's a little wavy. and that helps me in this situation if it adds texture to my block and I don't have any regular reason before placing this. I'm just dragging it around and poking around a little bit. There's no rhyme or reason, it's totally random, so one more slide there. I'm going to add a little more hurricane gray.

ry this time, what better this time, for another reason I chose the grave and some more muted colors, you know. close they don't contrast much it's because I'm going to take photos of my furniture on the front legs so I don't really want to distract from the furniture I'd like to leave them on the Fraser and not on my back Oh, holding any cloth, this is just one color what I'm doing so far and you like when I start layering on the other colors, it's going to look really good.

I mean, this is just one of the reasons it's so messed up. I promise you. I'm a messy person, I know, oh I know everyone is safe and in a home. I'll do it once I start adding all the layers, I'll tone it down a lot or at least not look as bold with just this gray on gray, so I'll add the next mud puddle, which is probably the only dixiebell color I haven't worked with. painted because, let's be honest, it's ugly and I've been putting off painting with my putty or mud puddle for a long time because I've never had anything I wanted. This brown looks better on camera in real life. It has a reddish tone like red mud or something, but anyway it will work for our brick wall or something, so I'm going to open it for the first time, yeah, it's not the prettiest color, like red mud, red mud British okay so I'll just keep pouring some on my next paper plate I have a new paper plate that's actually the perfect size for my little block it's perfect so these are perfect for my little foursome wait Stop, it may have been too much.

Okay, so that was a lot. paint, so I'm going to lightly dip it in my paint because I poured too much. I'm going to add just a little bit of green and the reason I chose this route is because the farm green is just a real pale pale green and so it can give it that touch of patina. I have to go look for something else, but or seaglass, these. Know the sea glass that is very close to it and the farmhouse screen will create a sort of patina look. I'm going to grab my sea glass, yeah, yeah, I'm going to give it just a hint of a patina look, these two colors, okay, let's do this. The first screen is a little bit brighter and we force them out onto a nice paper plate and then we do it the same way we did with all the other colors. I should probably remove the rim so you don't get off all the time.

I'll probably need a lot more than this, but that's what I have, so I'll go ahead and add, I don't know, half a tablespoon. just because I have such small bowls here half a tablespoon of sea spray okay so sea spray is a texture additive for paint it's from dixiebell sea spray texture additive sorry you know that's backwards, so I'm going to do about half a tablespoon to start.

If you're doing that more, if you need it and then I have my cotton, I'm going to make white bricks, they're going to be white for now anyway and I'm going to add about a quarter cup of the cotton that you don't need. I don't have to measure it because I and I will stir it and you know, wait, I'm trying to get the consistency of a paste, so let's say like toothpaste, that's the kind of consistency I'm looking for, so pretty good at understanding it, I I'm getting it pretty good with the quarter cup of paint and half a tablespoon of sea spray, so that's about right, you want it to fall off the spoon but not drip, you know what I am? saying you want it to not be so stiff that the movement, but you want it not to drip too much, so okay, so I'm my spatula for applying and you can use whatever you know like a squeegee of some kind, these spatulas for clay they're like a dollar worth of dixiebell or something but I'm sure the hardware store has a million different kinds of these you can get and I'm already going to spray some spray adhesive on the back of my brick template , so this is really like a raw stencil on the brick pattern, so the three largest walls I would like to tape down, but my paintings are a little wet, so I don't think taping them down is going to work So how big is this sucker?

I'm on sausages, so that's about how much of this template I'm going to fill in and then I'm just going to lift it up and I have a little bit of brick, so I'm going to repeat that in random places and you can Look, I'm going to do that in places random all over this wall or at least maybe around it.
