Rare Bikes & Controversy at World’s Largest Motorcycle Auction!

Mar 24, 2024
Kiss Meikum, I'm told the first few days were a little disappointing and then they ended up breaking records of $255 million in sales, so we'll see what happens here. I know. However, what comes up must come down and how many things we saw a lot during the pandemic. Collectible Houses. Two things right now that seem to be on the way down. Will

motorcycle

s follow suit? I don't know, I don't want to, no. I don't want to paint a bleak picture because they're still holding up pretty well, but I think part of the madness that we saw where replacement

bikes

were going for thousands and thousands of thousands of dollars.

I think that's over, like when houses were going 60. offers instead of asking saying hello Home inspection I think those two are all tied together. I think the Covid frenzy was just crazy and I think it has calmed down. Let me know your thoughts on all of that below in the comments. We can have an interesting discussion, but I will tell you what is red hot, like I told you, it is the 50th anniversary of the TZ here is another one, this one is not restored, this one belonged to a famous racer Kurt Lebman, check it out guys and this is how it competed with It was the 1970's, take a look, they didn't even polish the wheels, they didn't clean the rotors, this one has stood the test of time and some of you might be wondering why they didn't polish and clean it well.

More Interesting Facts About,

rare bikes controversy at world s largest motorcycle auction...

This is another interesting aspect of the desires that different collectors have. Some people don't want a restored

motorcycle

, they want to look exactly how it looked in 1979 and as you can see, this one is just as it left the track a long time ago. When we take a closer look at the engine bay of this classic, also check out the holes in the clutch cover, the old school electronic carburetors and here's a look at it one more time guys, inline four cylinder two times, so quick, if you saw our coverage. of two-stroke bike week last year and I invite you to do it, the guy showed up at Dragon Tail with one of these and it was crazy, he said, he said it's the fastest, most agile thing he's ever ridden on your life guys when you talk about weird

bikes

here's one that I've seen in person so far and you know I'm a big Z1 guy and if you look at this bike at first glance you might think it's a Z1 but look again ladies and Gentlemen, what is that side cover? let's say 750 and it's not a KZ 750 it's a Kawasaki Z2, behind a story with this bike guys about why the 1974 Z 2750 is so

rare

that it is offered only in Japan, so the way many Of them who came to the United States were service men.

I bought it and sent them here. A big thank you to our friend Bruce Sour. He made the engine and carbs on this one. They are incredibly

rare

. I'm talking to some of my experts here and you guys might know better on the. comments because it is very difficult to find information, but we believe that between 1200 and 1500 of these motorcycles were produced. We think there are maybe about 10 in the US, but I don't think there are any in this condition and hence this bike. It is expected to generate up to $95,000. I have heard many rumors about this.

Many people interested. Check it out. Also different than the 900. They are 26mm Muni carburetors. Take a look at how the valve cover is different. Stock painted black here with the end polished, it also has a blacked out petcock so there are some notable differences for this bike that was only offered in Japan. Do you see that? See what I have to give you a little love? showing a drag cycle also some important love. I've been posting on Facebook to try to increase exposure, increase offers, we'll see what happens, but is it cool or what guys, very, very cool, amazing, I absolutely love it. something you should also remember with this motorcycle that has such a rich and stored history remember that the competition between Honda and Kawasaki was red hot, initially the Z1 was supposed to be a 750, Honda beat Kawasaki with a CB750, so it was so when Kawasaki took a step back developed the Z1 they said we had a superior Honda with the 900, but guess what they still had a lot of blueprints and a lot of R&D on the 750cc engine and that's another big reason why it turned out great to get up to date with this one. our resident Z2 expert Craig Cado, thank you so much for all the information, give me a quid here, I got it so spectacular.
I mean, maybe maybe you steal the show because everyone's talking about it. The bicycle is very rare. Give me your impression of the Z2, if you could. I think I think the Z2 is the ultimate machine as far as Kosaki is concerned, it's weird, it's beautiful, it looks like a Z1, but it's a Z2. You've also been helping me track down some of the numbers and we don't know exactly, but you're saying only seven video numbers or less in the United States. I've tracked some of that and by VIN number and I know there are seven in the United States and that's even the oldest and we also have different countries around the

world

.
Australia where we have the z2s and maybe the 5 S something like that here in the US, but nothing like this here is restored. Speaking of Australia too, we are generating a lot of international interest and this bike could very well go overseas for what we have. I understand well, yes, there is a lot of buzz on the Internet. This could be an Internet sale. I'd like to sell it here so I can shake the person's hand and say, "Wow, you have an awesome bike, that would be cool, tell me a little bit." A little bit about the restoration because it looks absolutely impeccable.
I know our friend Sour made the carbs and the engine. Everything else looked perfect. Correct point. Tell me a little about this. It's just an incredible restoration. Marcus did a great job. 82 years old it took him two years to do this, today is his birthday, yeah if you're wondering why Marcus isn't in the interview he's on the Las Vegas Strip having fun so happy birthday Mark we'll catch up with him when this happen. Out, but the details that he's gone into on this, I've supplied him with a number of parts that he couldn't get and it took a lot of research, not to go to Japan, but to work in the Japanese market to get these things for him. but even the nuts and bolts with the numbers on it and being vintage correct, it's just a perfectionist.
Well you also had an interesting theory that we know the competition between Honda and Kawasaki was so fierce back then and Japan couldn't sell a motorcycle. with over 750 CC, you had an interesting theory, tell me a little more about that because we know the CB750 was already available. Honda beat Kawasaki. This New York State project would take a step back as they would work on the 900. What is your theory? At the 750c limit, well, my theory is that there is a lot of government control and Honda was very strong, maybe stronger than Kawasaki, so Kawasaki is doing a project in New York state, which is the 900, which By the way I had Honda parked just to disguise it. so they couldn't tell what that was during all the testing, lots of power, little power struggle, maybe and they said, hey, you can't sell anything higher than a 750 here in Japan.
Caki, what's wrong? Because they're making this 900. and it's going global, they want to sell in their home country, so they came up with the little brother of the 750, which was quickly a fantastic and interesting story. I wish them all the best, we'll see what happens to the guys who are expected to raise maybe six figures. or just a little shy, that's what we want, it's going to be interesting, how are you doing? It's a special bike, if you know anything about the Z2, leave it below if you know any old school Kawasaki Z1 fans you should share this story with. them because that's special it's about rare it's about unique so here you go Harley fans, can you see this one, two, three, four cylinders, it's a vad, it's amazing, we need to find out more about this crazy custom build.
Officially a 2021 Nelson Engineering 214 cubic bagger, it's a four-cylinder monster. I'm here with the builder, Mr. Greg Nelson, from Prescot, Arizona, it's a pleasure to see how the heck you dream of this. What was the impetus for This was looking at all the biker builds in the '80s and every body built all these fancy chassis and put the same V2 engine in it. I thought someone needed to do something with an engine. I thought well, I can do that and I did it in the middle. from the late night thoughts in the shower I go, I could do this, I could do that, you know, that's how it comes and you just develop it, if you can give me some technical data about the engine, how you were able to do it.
Well, this job was complicated at first, but then when you get down to it, it's simple, as few parts as possible in the engine to make it simple. I didn't want to machine the entire engine. I had a crankshaft made for us. in a crankcase, it was already a machine. I just made two pieces in the middle, rocker arms on top, everything you can get off the shelf, a camshaft, a set of pushrods, everything else is bolts, oil pump, oil filter, clutch , primary transmission, everything off the shelf parts, that was my goal, to simplify who made the chassis.
This chassis was built in Valo, California by the helicopter guys. It is a little wider at the bottom to fit in the crankcase. It has a bit more of a slope and is about an inch long. longer than stock, very good and I see on the label that we are expected to make $70,000, you feel pretty confident about that I hope, because you have to go from project to project building a new Bonville car, so these are my new things cool car cool stuff thank you so much for showing it to us I really appreciate it yeah thanks and if you metric guys are wondering how many cc's are in 3.57 does it have a displacement yeah he has one more interesting fact on this one bicycle, here is the Chris Rivas Dino. 187 horsepower blade, almost as much as a Suzuki Hayabusa, pretty wild, yeah, don't forget the 227 foot-pounds of torque.
Wait, wait on as many motorcycles to see guys and I'll show you as many as I can. It takes a week to review this absolutely crazy 1969 Harley-Davidson service car with a custom Coca-Cola trailer. This might be a good retirement gig for some of you, that sounds great, check it out guys, this is one of our favorites right here. It's a modernized Makeo 490 Gary Quartz. The people of Noan. They have done an incredible job. You saw it on Cycle Drag YouTube. So be sure to check out this bike and enjoy it. It's the year for Tez fans everywhere.
What is your name, young lady? I'm Carrie Lynn, where are you from, I'm from Oceanside, California, you absolutely enjoy it and how's the whole team here? You guys enjoy everything, not just bikes, when you come here to see me road art video games that played this. I lost a lot of my allowance on this machine. Sega, wait, that was so much fun. Old dealership signs would also look great in the man cave and we've got some really special bikes ready to go up for

Well, thanks for watching Suicide Garage, thanks for watching cych track. I also want to correct myself from before. I know someone in the comments caught my attention. This is the previously 79 Honda cbx 1000. we saw the 80, that's what I meant, call it different livery, these different paint schemes, but that's how you know you're never going to confuse this six-cylinder bike. An interesting story with these two is that they didn't sell well, that's what it was. It was Overkill back then, they're more collectible now, they're more desirable now, but they didn't sell well in 1979, so they didn't have a very long history, guys, when it comes to this show, I'll tell you, understand.
Get out your popcorn, we still have a lot more to see the Vincent Black Shadows up there that we saw before, guys 80,000 77 for Vincent Black Shadow. I love watching Barry, guys, what a character gave me something. He gave this to me 5 years ago in Pomona. He always wears them well and then you step on him with your foot. What do you think is inside? It's a uh, let me. Say this in a very correct subtle way. It is a prophylactic for gentlemen. It's what's there. Here, one of our many helpers at meum, holds what could very well be a $200,000 motorcycle. He is about to go up for

auction

and we will see what last year brings. The Black Forest BMW Collection did very, very well here.

We will see what this brings. Take a look at this beauty. We could do something special today because this gem, this restored 1972 Kawasaki h2750, could break a

world

record. They come from the collection of famed Southern California Nori Miata builder that Eclipse is pursuing. $34,000 that's the very interesting target also take a look at the other one they have used a little creativity put a Kawasaki ZX6 front end SV 650 wheels swing arm on the end it's a hot rod it's not original that's going to cost them in terms of value we're about to find out because they are about to go up for auction he also has a z1b finally restored it's very funny he's from Japan he told me these are his words, not mine, he said and I quote: I don't want to I'm going home with a toothpick on my butt, you want to make sure you get to about 34 on that one and about 20 a piece for these, let's see what you can do, how about this 1980 Moo Works six day bike, it'll be interesting to see what this is.
Motorcycle commands, as I mentioned here, racing bikes don't always tend to work well, but you never know, it only takes two to make the thing work in the moonlight, guys, here we go, what will it bring, let me know what they want. Think below1 51 CC Barrel scor original in the race as it is someone gets 25,000 gets gets 5,000 gets 6,000 gets 7 8,000 gets 9,000 9 8,000 gets 9,000 gets 9 gets someone gets 9 I have 8,000 you get 9,000 gets 10,000 gets now 10 gets $9.50 0 bbody gets 95 gives $8500 is the offer 9585 anyone gives $9,000 so like a race bike at 9,000 everyone gives 8 you get 9 you get 8,000 you get 9,000 anyone gives 8500 last call $8500 $8,500 you to get5 you to give 85 Zach Got you back right at 7500 right, I had them on oh wait a oh boy a little bit of a discrepancy okay friends so this is my first weekend doing this how are you uh from time to time you feel very alone here, I'm glad you do You're standing next to me Bob, you take half the pressure on this.
I'm here again. Well, then you weren't 7500. Would someone give 7500? Would someone give $5000? Would anyone take it if I gave you $5000 right there? I'm not sure what happened. he 5000 oh I'm not going to pay you because I have 5000 offered on the Internet 6000 5000 is the offer anyone gets $6000 for it 5000 Reser 66000 wait a minute what were you waiting for? I want to come back here and stage because I have great stories to tell. about some notable motorcycles and I'm going to start with these two, perhaps the greatest and most legendary two-strokes of all time. This is the 1972 Kawasaki Widow Mega, the one that started it all, the h2750, it's beautiful, restored by Nori, it's very, very popular in Southern California, we'll take a look at this other one he brought. This is a total Resto Mod Resto Rod. I bet it handles and runs much better because it has ZX6 Wheels suspension, so which is really admirable. This is what surprises me.
Nori made a construction in which he deviated from the original. Let me explain to you that we know that in this condition this is where it is most worthwhile. Everyone wants everything just as it came from the factory, maybe a little brighter in some cases, but. What we see there is certainly not factory, so the story here could be that Nory simply wanted to build something different and wasn't too concerned about value or maybe it just started out as a spare parts bike and this is what he had for there. It will be interesting to see what this brings.
We'll get to see a side by side comparison of the value of the 19 72 h2750 and then this 1972 hot rod. It's awesome guys check it out. To find out what you think he'll bring, let's back up a second and tell the story of this motorcycle. We've done it before here on the bike track but some of you are new viewers and some of you may have something to add in the comments guys this is a three cylinder two stroke motorcycle that's why it's called triple three cylinder three exhaust chambers three legendary carburetors back in the early 70's the worst on the road were the two strokes now Kawasaki could look at the writing on the wall, they knew Two Strokes wasn't going to last forever and that's why they were working on the motorcycle you see behind this one and that is the Kawasaki Z1, there is another Z1 B, we will see what works.
By the way, but again, a closer look at this. I want to show you all these modern parts. What's interesting here too is that I talk a lot about value. Know that here is the key. Many of you know what I'm talking about. For you you don't really care about the value, the important thing is that it's a motorcycle that you love, you know my dad is a perfect example that he loves to make modifications and I think that's cool. I have motorcycles that I have modified. some of which I'm keeping in bone stock but if this is the way someone prefers it who cares if that hurts the value at all and I will say it could greatly improve the handling because I'm not exactly sure How much testing were they able to do and really tune the suspension with this old school chassis and setup, but you have to believe it could be better than this.
The great Jay Leno in the video of him, although he said that it was known that he would ride these bikes, but he thought the myth was worse than the reality. I've ridden one before and I have to say it's not terrible, but it has a power band that activates, it just makes your teeth chatter and throws you off the back of the seat, that's why it was called Widowmaker you had to have skill to drive it it wasn't the motorcycle that you wanted to go to your Kawasaki dealer and buy it if you were a complete novice a complete novice but we say that today you also know a ZX14 an H2 a high abuse is not the type of motorcycle you want to get on if you have no previous experience, that was without a doubt In the case of these H2S, which one do you like the most?
Let me know in the comments below, guys, I don't have to speculate. I don't have to ask these questions because I found the legendary Nori and Mac. Thank you. Nori and Mac I suddenly met here about six years ago. They have always been known for some of the best classic Japanese motorcycles. First I have to congratulate you. Mikee Conter just told me that he can set the bar for the H2 like he did for the Z1. What do you think about that? I hope you know that we don't know. You know the auction is a strange thing.
You know everything. different year, okay, so here's a I'm so glad you're here because I was speculating and asking questions of myself and my audience and I think it's so admirable that you built this hot rod here, but as we know, you'll probably leave A little money on the table, maybe who knows, but is it something you built just because you said hey, I don't care, I want to build it so cool or you didn't have enough parts to build a complete one, what was the answer? Kind of a ball, you know, we have a Mot from the last 5 years, just sitting in the corner of the shop and we have a frame and other storage units and we try to look for the original frame and motor, you know. whatever, but you know we can't find it, so you also know I intend to build something different, something different, yeah, yeah, how many miles did you go about two four three okay, so we don't have too many examples.
We don't have much road testing, but I was wondering, since the H2 is known for its poor handling, how much did these parts improve on the ex6? Yes, this is, it's a little bit faster because the steering angle is cheaper and it stops. Much better than ever, yes, and it feels pretty good, but I didn't really get a chance to put it to the test. The last thing I want to do is take it out and splash it, okay, and speaking of which, she says like this. There's excitement behind the scenes, this is what it feels like, like a man in white gloves just took your bike, so I have to ask you both what numbers we're looking for and what would make you happy in the H2 and H2 hot rod, Wow.
I don't know, maybe more than 30 or about 30 for the original H2, what do you think for the hot rck? Pretty much the same, if you can, you think it's okay, so look, I'm saying you're leaving money on the table, but maybe No, maybe you're not right, you never know right, this is Las Vegas, it's a sheet of garbage, yes I wish you all the best, you are amazing, if someone wants to take advantage of you, how can they track you down? a website or anything, yes what is bjs.com? Take a look, we may contact you.
Thank you very much, we appreciate it. We'll see what he gets guys, Matt, great job, guys, look, there's the Pac-Man. Mike Kopak. he set the bar last year with the Z1. Will Nory set the bar this year with the H2? We are ready to know what you think, how much you think the H2 will bring. I think it will serve 35 35 us. We'll see guys, Nory also has this z1b. I told them he does a lot. He does a lot. I'm excited. I'm excited. I hope you can feel the excitement at home. Guys, this behind the scenes, log in.
This is what we do. in drag cycle this is a staging we don't talk much about the 1970 CB either this is noris also four bikes he has worked all year to produce these bikes to restore these bikes and now the moment of truth what are they going to bring let's find out everything guys , so let me know in the comments which one will be the most successful. I think I already put them to the test, although let's have fun with this 19 70 CB 750 1972 Kawasaki original h2750, the hot rod. you heard a few moments ago that they think it may be more or less the same and then of course comes another 1975 Kawasaki C1.
Nory's first bike goes down 16 down 16 17 res up 16 17 gotta be happy with that 17 down 17 down 17 that Mike for sale got 16 on the internet 17 someone else at 17,000 half here we go guys we could reset the market on an H2 trying to get to 34,000 nor Miata out of Southern California originally from Japan he's the restoration expert, slow start here we go here go 22 22 Reser 2 25 25 not be 25 already got 22 25 5 down 5 23 2 3 3 5 down 5 23 25 down 7 30 oh we're almost there we're almost there like oh we did it we did Nory set the record where is that is a new record for the H2 holy look at this oh my god guys we're still going still going amazing amazing oh Nory new world record new world record there it is baby okay let's see how hot rod are you going to lose something of value when you make it less original? 20 20 20 20 20 you get 20,000 20 not bad it has cx6 SV 650 wheels with swing arm down 20 20 20 20,000 20,000 oh still come on im not D I have 20 online 21 be 21 sir 21 21 21 1 21,000 sir just da twenty-onewhich is hundreds of miles off the road.
The problem is that she had to paint the frame, she said, uh, that's why she sent them the photo of the vanin before she painted it and then, um, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know what to do with this. I guess it's a common thing to want to paint a frame, but I think the problem now is that you saw those numbers, if they can't verify that those numbers paint or not, that's going to be a deal breaker. What a cycle, drag my Head is spinning about this one, what do they say? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, well this one doesn't stay in Vegas because there's no sale, so maybe we'll get more information in the future, we'll stay on it for you, maybe we can. get some kind of verified information on that bike maybe it will be back on sale in the future let me know what you think guys from Down Below thank you so much if you like that video here's another one for you subscribe right on the middle and you know.
If there's anything fast or classic, vintage motorcycle cycle drag is here from Las Vegas, cycle drag moves forward
