Jun 07, 2021
Hey guys, I'm Cici from Cici Redesigned and today I'm showing you how to print your own personalized

transfers

. There are rub-on

transfers

and we all know I love premium redesigned transfers and use them all the time, but every once in a while I need them. an image that I don't have a transfer for for some

custom

work, this one in particular is Alice in Wonderland themed and I need some playing cards, teacups and things like that that there are no transfers for anymore so I'm going to I print my own and I'm going to mix them in with the redesign with prima flowers and scripts and things like that, so just another little element of personalization and getting a

custom

look and it's very easy to print your own transfers when it arrives.

My rub off transfer paper from Amazon and it's this brand Sunny Scopa, they call it rub off transfer paper so this one is really clear, they have white too. The only problem with white is that when you cut the transfer image, the edges break. shows that if you don't cut it perfectly to where your print ends you will have white edges so I like the clear one the only problem with that is you can't you need to place it on a white or clear painted surface it won't win. It doesn't show up on dark colors because it's clear, but it looks great on white or light colored paints, so the instructions come inside and they're pretty easy to follow, but I'm going to show you how I print my own eight and... transfer sheet half times eleven and then I'll show you how I apply it so that on my computer I have my image and this is a stock image that I downloaded or I actually paid for the use of the image and downloaded it. from Shutterstock are these Alice in Wonderland playing cards and I need to print them because I'll like them.

More Interesting Facts About,

printing custom rub on transfers...

I said Lehrman with a redesign with premium floral transfers, so I'll get started. I have my image and I'm going to start by mirroring my image so whatever you print you're going to need whatever image you want to use you need to print it upside down so now that I have my image upside down I'm going to go ahead and load up my transfer paper so This set comes with the transfer paper sheet and then it also comes with a backing paper sheet which is this soup like a very thick glossy material and the transfer sheet has a glossy side or a semi-gloss side and a matte side, so you want to print on the brighter side which is the side you want to print so you want to find out which direction your printer is facing.

I already did it and I'm just going to load a sheet and print my image. um, will ask if you do. Whether you want to print to scale or not, if you need a perfect size, don't print to scale. Sorry, so print to scale if you just want it to fit on the page and not bleed through, so you can't do that. waste a sheet of paper then press fit to page then print so now we just have to wait for our transfer to print and i should add that you need to use an inkjet printer i think the laserjet printer just will melt the paper. then you need to use an old school inkjet printer like this old school one, it's pretty awesome and slow but most inkjet printers are either.

We won't let the

printing

take too long, so after

printing

your transfer, if you have a hair dryer, we are going to need to dry and cure the ink with the hair dryer because you need to make sure it is dry if you try to apply it while the ink is wet on the adhesive and the backing paper that you are going to have. a mess on your hands so you want to make sure it's dry and we're going to use a blow dryer or a blow dryer to do it, you're also going to need a squeegee or a credit card or a transfer tool or something like that. something hard that you can use to polish the transfer on and into the adhesive and then back onto the backing paper, so this shouldn't take too long.
Here it comes, so you have to be careful not to touch the ink. because if it's still wet you could stain it and this paper I think you get five sheets for thirteen or fourteen dollars in a pack so it's not super cheap but it's not astronomical either but you definitely don't want to waste it when I'm only five feet so here it comes our full color transfer and then I'll tip you down and then we'll just put the dryer on this until the ink cures as soon as it comes out ready for the Another piece that you'll need is this one, it has the adhesive and the backing paper that it you put it back after applying the eesof.
It's super bright, that's how you can tell the difference. This one is super shiny and thick, so that's not the one that you print on and here's the one that we spend, okay, there's our image Inc. Sign up, okay, that's where we're going to apply the adhesive, like this so when you actually cut and apply your transfer it's going to go this way so let's see how it now has the correct orientation but let's go ahead and dry it with our hair dryer maybe so we've dried it with our hair dryer now it What we want to do is carefully peel off the adhesive layer so it's stuck, it's going to stick to another sheet so you're basically peeling this off there's a clear layer and a white layer so you're basically peeling off the white layer and you want to make sure that The adhesive stays stuck to the clear coat.
Well, we've had some that are pretty complicated and you don't want to peel it off the wrong way, so you have to peel it off carefully so it doesn't flip over and stick. okay and then okay so on each side you want to take the sticky layer and stick it as best you can back on your transfer to the ink side that you print it on okay so now you have my squeegee and I'm going to polish that very, very hard to get that adhesive on the back of my playing cards. Okay, so after you've given it all a good scrubbing, you need to carefully peel off the clear coat where, I'm sorry, God, what am I saying?
You want to remove this clear plastic layer because this is the front side of the transfer and that is the transfer paper pink side down, so you don't want to try to remove just one clear layer, which can be tricky, I'm not going to lie. , I'm spoiled with my Prima transfers, it's quiet, on/off, I don't actually have to do this process with the Prima transfers, it's already done, so you want to remove this clear layer here. and you have to do it carefully because if you mess up the adhesive, you mess up the whole sheet, so now I want to take that there is a textured side and a non-textured side on the sheet that was on the ground. that was on our adhesive sheet and you just want to stick it to the back of your transfer and that just keeps it protected from sticking to everything until you use it and that's it for you polish it one more time and then.
I do this, it's ready to go, all I have to do is cut out my cards or whatever traffic you choose to print, cut it out and since this is the clear material, I still like to cut and leave just a little bit of edge and it won. They are not shown because it is clear and are applied as a normal 3D design with raw transfer. Well, let's say I have this cropped image that I want to use. I just peel off the backing and paper, and then apply it how I do. it would be a normal transfer and that's it, the printing process will look super easy and only for 20 minutes, so now I'm going to show you how to apply them and I'm going to show you how to layer them with the redesign. raw transfers okay, now that we have our transfers printed and the adhesive applied, we are ready to go ahead and place them on our furniture, as you can see in this store here.
I have used a mix of my own transfers and some redesigned with raw transfers to add some interest and create a custom look, so you will want to start by cleaning your piece or the surface you are going to apply to make sure it is free of dust or taste that had something. sawdust from punching these holes in there, so I cleaned it up and made sure it was clean and dry and then we have our transfers that we printed. I cut them and I'm going to cut them and what am I going to do. Am I going to cut them out?
You can cut them to the edge of the prints. I like to leave a little space around the edge about 1/8 between about a sixteenth on them just a little bit of room for my fingers in case I have to touch the edge of the transfer that way I don't mess up my print so I'll show you how I cut them like this, see the space around the edge not too much. You know, I cut this one out and then ended up printing some as steampunk gears. There is also a redesign of the raw steampunk transfer with gears and I used some of those in this piece behind me, but then I ran out of them.
I needed to print some at the last minute so I already got that done right so here's the other one and like I said I'm going to overlay them with redesign with prima transfers. I want them to see each other. I want the florals and then I could want some of the cards that stick out to come up. I want to almost mirror this one a little bit, maybe turn it around, so I'm going to go ahead and put my door like this and my piece so I can see what it's going to look like real quick, that's right, Oh, the other way around, that was close, that was close, like that which you can see I have already applied the transfers that I printed and also redesigned the Prima transfers to the other drawers and the door and I have sealed them with a top coat and dixiebell satin.
You can seal with a clear wax water-based sealer. Those are really your two options, so I think what I want to do is have my cards mm-hmm, I'm going to make a kind of mirror. So maybe I'll have my cards coming out from the bottom, kind of like that and then my flowers in this corner and some steampunk ears and a little bit of the script font there that just creates some texture so they blend together. very good with the redesign with premium transfers, they stay like I said before, they are a little transparent so be careful with that when you decide where you want to place your transfers, whatever you place will be seen, that's why I'm using mine on the bottom layer and then putting my flowers and my teeth, you know, on top, but no, I don't think I'm going to overlap them too much, so I'm just going to place them.
I think these are fine, how did I want them? Maybe like that, maybe like that, so I'll go ahead and put this one up first to find out. Okay, so as a redesign transfer, we're going to want to remove the backing paper. and you have to be careful with homemade transfer, sometimes that adhesive wants to stick to the sheet you remove, so just make sure the adhesive sticks to the transfer part and then you have to apply it roughly as they are very sticky. so you want to place it roughly where you want it to be.
I'm going to make it fall off the edge just a little bit, look how I've been falling off the edge. I really like to overlay it and oversize it or you know, my graphics fall off. off the edge, I think it looks really cool for some reason, so I'm going to go ahead and go over this with my transfer tool. The premium transfers redesign comes with a stick that you can use or you can use the transfer tool that they offer - you could use a credit card even if you need it or anything flat and hard that you can just polish your transfer and polishing just means rubbing Once you've polished everything, simply pick a corner and start peeling slowly. make sure your graphic is all the way down and it looks like it stuck really well, so next you need to polish it with your fingers or a soft cloth on your finger, which just means going over it and rubbing it firmly to make sure no air bubbles, if there are wrinkles you can smooth them out, but the air bubbles need to be released, you can pop them with a small pin or sometimes with your finger, you can pop them out, so this is the one we're going to want for place right here and just like the last one I'm going to slowly peel off my backing paper and without touching it, try not to touch the adhesive as much as possible, slag, please sit down, I have a little bit of an overhang here, I'm just going to cut it off, easy to polish it with my tool and remove the backing paper slowly, make sure it's stuck, let's shoot it with my fingers to get out any air bubbles or wrinkles or whatever you want.
I want to make sure the edges are nice and bottom is fine too, so next I'm going to add my steampunk gear, so I'm going to cut pretty close to the edge of the steampunk gears, any unprinted parts that don't The cut is transparent and won't show up. You see, so that's why I like the clear printer paper I told you about before better. You know they have it in white and transparent. That's why I like transparent paper, because not. It doesn't show that if it was white you would have to cut it down to the ink, which is quite difficult to do, especially if you have a print with a lot of details and yes, it's just a lot, a lot of cutting to do.
I want to keep my pieces connected here so I can place them together. at a time and take them off once instead of placing them all individually. I couldn't do that with white without it looking good. and I want to show you, remember how I left a border around metransfer, look, it's totally clear, you can't see it at all, that's cool, so I was going to do flowers in this corner and I want these teeth to stick out. a little bit of the flowers so I'm going to place them more or less like this and I'm going to slowly peel off the backing paper and it's going to look like this. not wanting this to want to stick to the wrong part of this didn't want to stick to the transfer it wants to stick to the paper that hair waits so be very careful and sometimes you have to pull that adhesive away, be careful not to let it roll on itself, it can be very hard, so in this case the adhesive wants to come off the backing paper, so I'm going to make my life a little easier.
I'm going to unroll it. I'm going to leave it halfway and I'm going to go ahead and place it where I want it, which is like this, I'm going to leave it and slowly I'm going to remove the backing paper from underneath. Makes sense. I'm going to stick it on as it comes off, okay, so I'm going to go over it with a stick real quick and then I'm going to remove the transfer paper again. I'll place it with my finger to make sure there are no bubbles or wrinkles. wrinkle, I'm just going to smooth it out, okay, that's it for my homemade transfer printed on my inkjet printer, so now I'm going to go ahead and apply my prima transfer redesign.
The first one I'm going to use is called never ending story it's just these blocks of text and I love them because they create a really nice texture and some interest. I've read parts of them, but it doesn't really mean much to me, it's just that I think of a story or quotes or something, so it's nothing I don't know, it means something in particular to me, so I'm just going to cut it out this all the way to the edge, yeah, I want it to go all the way to the edge, so I'm going to use the edge to line up my scissors where I want to cut this and that's the piece of this transfer that I'm going to use again.
This text is just to give it a nice texture and some interest and just another layer of interest for me to my piece, okay, so I'm going to go remove the backing paper just like we did with our homemade transfers. These are a little easier to remove most of the time, well almost all of the time, be careful not to touch the adhesive. on the back and align it where you would like it, which I'm going to align down once you have it where you want it, you need to press down with your fingers so it stays in place and I'll do that.
Take my tool and rub it all over like we did with the others. Once you're sure you've rubbed it all over, we can pick a spot to start peeling and you want to go slowly to make sure it's all over. It laid down and I'm going to polish it with my finger as I go, usually these little ones don't have little lines, the texts don't have too many air bubbles, but you never know to wrinkle them, so you have to press them. down to make sure they are fully adhered, if they are not fully adhered you may experience problems after sealing it with it peeling off and lifting up so I just want to take the extra time to press it down and make sure it doesn't is completely adhered.
I didn't experience any of those problems after sealing it. It took me a lot of work to let him go. Wait, if you don't take the extra moment to press or polish to transfer, that's fine, so that's where we are so far. I'm going to add some flowers here around the top and then I think they'll be fine. The flowers I am going to use are lavender fields, roses and rouge. I'm using a little bit of both, the lavender fields. it tends to be a little transparent so I like to place them first because if I place them on top of my rosin Rouge you can usually see through them so the rosin Rouge is quite opaque so I'll place my lavender fields first and I'll go to use perfect, this is perfect.
I'm going to start with this big piece right here and I wanted to come like this, so what I'm going to do is apply it. go ahead and apply it, I'm actually going to cut these little pieces, this little piece in one go, I'm going to go ahead and apply it and instead of cutting it beforehand, I'm going to cut it after this time, so I'm going to peel off the paper back slowly, being careful not to touch the adhesive or let the transfer stick to itself because then it will be ruined. I'm going to put it where I wanted it, which is right here, rub it and now I'm going to move forward since it's stuck and I know it's not going to move very easily.
I'm going to go ahead and grab my scissors or a sharp knife. A sharp knife works best but I have scissors on hand so I'm just going to cut it flush with the edge or as flush as I can anyway it looks like I messed up a bit here we go it's better the same with this side , I'm just going to cut it flush to the edge, you can wrap it like the extra, you can wrap it to the side of the door or drawer or whatever and I do that from time to time, but for this project I think I'd rather cut it so I'm going to go ahead and polish with my transfer tool just like I did with all the others and once I'm sure I've rubbed it all over, I'll pick a corner, start peeling it off and slowly peel it off to make sure everything blends in. adhere well and with My fingers are fine, so I have overlaid my redesign with prima transfer over my little steampunk gears.
I have a few more patches or areas where I want to add some flowers and then I'll seal it with a Dixiebell and satin top coat. I just like the Sutton, you can use flat speed satin clear wax. I like satin, which is my favorite, so we'll let it dry and then we'll all be ready, so I'll go ahead and finish it off. I appreciate you watching, I hope you learned a few things and are excited to try your own custom transfers that you can, but don't have to combine with the redesign with premium transfers, thank you and have a great day.
