and welcome to this president's day story hey what are you doing here so good? I'm introducing the president's day story no they shouldn't be doing it but I'm Christmas beer I'm red so I introduce the holiday but everyone knows I'm the obvious presidential candidate out of all our brothers huh huh storyteller this dude thinks she might be interfering in my presidential turf and i'm the party bear and i should be the one to host all the christmas stories cause i'mread

ing oh man she I pull out that storytelling card she does it all the time I can hear you oh sorry ok let's get started despite the interruptions these guys have oh look at that beautiful stamp oh that's nice ok let's start president's day it's a day we celebrate the george washington and abraham lincoln birthday both were born in february many years ago both were greatpresidents
of our country the united states of america thats right adults vote every four years to elect the president of the united states vote for me hey green bear yeah this is not a campaign ad each person votes for the person they think will make the best leader not everyone agrees so whoever gets the most votes becomes president we host a president's day assembly program we tell the rest of our school some things we learned about some of ourpresidents
we work hard getting ready painting cutting and stirring and cooking flower paste and ripping strips of newspaper for paper mache wow this is going to be a great project i wonder what they are going to do oh look that they did mount rushmore ok sam evan sarah and michiko used the paper mache mountain we done hello everyone we are mount rushmore the faces of the presidents george washington thomas jefferson theodore roosevelt and abraham lincoln they are carved 60 feet high into our hard granite cliff now each of these presidents will tell you about himself i was george washington thats because my birthday is the same as yours i was born on february 22 six years ago but george washington was born over 200 years ago but on the same day they share a birthday good morning i said in a deep voice i led the american people when they fought to be free from the king of england we won so i was elected the first president of a new country called the states united of america abraham lincoln was very very tall and charlie's tallest kid in our class i see everyone working backstage pulling the curtains pulling the props oh exciting exciting to put on a show im the 16th president of the united states he said i kept the united states together when it split in two he said a house divided against itself can't stand and i meant it we fought a long war to keep our nation together that's why it's called the united states of america united means that many stand together as one nicholas is a good writer who can always think of the right word, so when he walked on stage wearing a red wig with a short ponytail in the back, he just sat at a desk writing with a pen made from a feather is great everyone waited patiently as he frowned and scratched his head crumpled up pieces of paper and threw them into the trash can finally shouted at last it's done stood bowing to the audience and said good morning my name is thomas jefferson 3rd president of the united states i wrote something called the declaration of independence which tells us why we wanted to be free from england um its pretty good if i do say so myself he started to read what he wrote but all of a sudden jessica galloped off on a toy horse good morning she yelled my name is theodore roosevelt but you can call me teddy i'm the 26th president of the united states when i was a kid i used to get very sick and i couldn't go outside to play but when i grew up i was healthy and strong, and I loved the outdoors.I wanted a lot of this big, beautiful land to always be wild. always be wild oh yeah i love teddy roosevelt's plan he created all those national parks i love to visit paul and evelyn came on stage with the long mural we had painted of giant sequoias the grand canyon the old faithful spitting and the animals in the everglades i've been here i've been here i've been here i still have to go here yes i told you i love going outside in the classroom we had an election they voted for me they won i won i don't think you were in the ballot everyone wrote the name of someone who had been a good leader on a piece of paper i wrote pablo's name because he is smart and never meant it we put each piece of paper in a box mrs madoff countered the votes and the person whose name appeared most often i would win elections guess what i won as george washington thomas jefferson abraham lincoln teddy roosevelt and today he is president of the united states now i am the president of mrs madoff's class when i grow up i want to be the first female president of the united states wouldn't that be cool after all i have the same birthday as george washington and there's our boys from mount rushmore george washington thomas jefferson abraham lincoln and teddy roosevelt and that was the presidents day story i won well you weren't on this ballot i want to be i want to be i want be the first green bear president would you like your flag now yeah please we really need to hire a bad storyteller yeah you're not that good oh sorry i'll leave this here you should probably take it with you no I'm leaving no you can Take it with you, I'm gone, oh man, she's a troublemaker, let me turn this off, I can.
