Precision Rifle - 6.5 Creedmoor Parts Chosen & Why

Mar 04, 2024
Alright, in this video we're going to go over the

parts

I chose for the build of my Creedmoor 65 Precision Rifle and why I chose those

parts

. I just didn't choose the newest and coolest parts out there for a

rifle

build. I took my time and thought about each part and how they would work together as a whole. The first two things you need to build a

rifle

are your receivers, your lower and upper receiver. I chose to use a narrow

precision

receiver set for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that I like how they look, I like their lines, I like the design, the second part would be the price, it is my opinion on the highest quality Air Precision AR10 receiver sets at the lowest price you can get and the bottom receiver at least the second.

The lower generation receivers come with a little feature that I really like. Generation 2 lower receivers come with a nylon tip set screw to adjust the tension that has been put on the receiver takedown pin to reduce any movement between the upper and lower receivers now, although this arrow is supposed to the

precision

receiver assembly is a combo assembly if I really wanted to go crazy with precision construction what I would actually do is take the upper receiver and weld aluminum onto the takedown and pivot lugs and then put the upper receiver on the mill and mail the takedown and pivot lugs to where it exactly fits that lower receiver and there would be no movement or play between the two receivers to do that takes skill and equipment like a mill.

I have the skill and I have access to a mill, but I'm not going to take it that far. I'm just going to go the easy route and use that nylon tip set screw on the lower receiver. Now I made one modification and it was the upper receiver where I lapped the upper receiver to make sure the front face of the receiver where the barrel extension slides is completely perpendicular to the barrel bore and the upper receiver bore where the bolt carrier slides forward. and back now We are building a precision air 10 our air 15 the parts that you really want to pay attention to and probably spend a little more money and get are all the parts that are along the axis of the bore or interact with the bore axis, the bore axis being this is everything along this line, as in the barrel, fire control group, bolt carrier assembly, buffer spring and stock, the last two parts being the device muzzle if the end of the barrel is threaded and a gas block, preferably an adjustable gas block now.

The first part we are going to look at is the cannon I chose for this build. I chose to try a Christmas in Arms carbon fiber wrap-around barrel, the Christian Arms 20-year-old Creedmoor 65 barrel is long with a one-eight twist and comes with a gas block and gas tube, but since It is adjustable, I decided not to use it now. The fit and finish of the Christian Arms barrel is quite good, but I did have one complaint and that was when it came to the barrel extension. When it comes to barrel extensions and accuracy, there are barrel extensions that are a standard overall diameter to fit the upper receiver, but you can also get slightly oversized barrel extensions.

Slightly oversized knot extensions will give the barrel a more precise fit in the upper receiver. you will have no room for maneuver or play if you have room for maneuver or play. I strongly suggest you set the upper receiver to make sure the barrel is not tilted in any direction after you have tightened the barrel nut, it seems. that my test research barrel had an oversized barrel extension where it was a press fit. I had to use the barrel nut to press the barrel extension into the upper receiver as seen in the ideo of the upper receiver assemblies, this Christian Oz Barrel had a lot of I played at the time with the precision upper receiver so I overlapped the upper receiver and fitted the barrel extension into the upper receiver.
Next is my group of bolt carriers. I went with a group of low mass 308 bolt carriers from JP rifles. I chose the low mass bolt. carrier for two reasons, one it looks good because it's all shiny, the second reason was to keep it light. I plan on racing this rifle so I want to keep it as light as possible since I'm just working with my spare arm and I knew I was going to use a gas block so we'll tune it up and make sure it works properly next to the two parts that are just behind the bolt carrier group and that is the buffer spring and the buffer.
I went with JP rifles. 308 polish fit buffer spring and for the buffer I chose a CTS engineering active recoil buffer. Now I don't know if you know about this buffer or not, but I'm going to make a video just about this buffer, so stay tuned. for that and for the stock buffer tube I chose a standard length a2 rifle buffer tube and I chose the maple precision rifle stock and it's pretty obvious why I chose a static right, it's in the name and now we're going to go to the part that interacts with the bore axis, which is your fire control group.
Now for the fire control group again I chose a component from JP rifles and that is their easy trigger fire control package but instead of the standard package I went with the Armageddon Gear Revolution Roller Trigger now in the Precision rifle lower receiver construction. I went into detail on how to install this so if you want to know that watch that video now the next part is the muzzle device I chose and I went for a 6.8 surefire sfm B Muzzle Brake Cut Off Suppressor Adapter and that is due because in the future I will add a socom surefire.
The gas block I chose was an SLR why for the Works Century 9 adjustable gas block and it is the set screw version because this christensen The carbon fiber barrel of the gun already has dimples drilled into it and again I got the block adjustable gas valve works in conjunction with that low mass bolt carrier group to make sure this rifle works perfectly and the last piece of the puzzle would be the handguard. I chose what is a 16 inch SLR rifle that works to unlock just one ultralight rail and they call it ultralight for a reason even being 16 inches.
I'm pretty sure this, including the barrel nut, is lighter than just the carbon fiber part. of my lancer ar-15s handrail and another reason I chose the ultralight solo rail from SLR refworks is because of the barrel nut. The barrel nut is a low profile barrel nut that does not need to be indexed so that the gas tube will pass through the receiver properly now that it takes care of each part that is along the axis of the hole and as you saw in the introduction this is what they complete the mods adding a Magpul grip and embarrass HDR at 8 to 40 held on a US defense thirty four millimeter scope mount with a 20mm oh now I can't you may have seen the video before of this, the video of the first shots, which were the first 20 rounds fired through this rifle using premium 130 grain 65 Creedmoor camo.
I'm still breaking down the Entra so I'm going to try three different rounds to see which one likes to eat better 130 grain Prime Mo ammo 140 Hornady LD Match or the 143 or in the LD Precision Hunter MO oh that's it if you liked the video.
