Owning a 2017 Nissan GT-R - 6 Month Honest Review

Jun 04, 2021
Uh oh that didn't sound like this car had enjoyed that start up ladies and gentlemen welcome to the sub zero temperatures here in the UK this car has been out for the last four days and well what I hope to do today is bring you the most complete and

honest

experience of what it is like to have a

2017

Nissan GT-R and well, that was the first test and the car passed. I don't think there are many supercars that I would feel comfortable and confident enough to drive. how i drive in the gtr i don't know if this is ice on the road the temps say it's -1 when the wind blows it's even colder when the sun comes out it's not actually much warmer but what i've done what i learned during The six

month

s of ownership of my GTR is that it is very capable in almost all weather conditions, not a bad place to start and I think a six

month

anniversary is worth it when you take the relationship seriously, whatever the relationship you are in. you celebrate the six month annual semi anniversary so six months is a big deal for me and the gtr and generally on the supercars of london youtube channel i have had cars for less than six months so that the fact that the gtr has I got this far and got this far without me modifying it is a huge achievement and hopefully at the end of this video we'll have an

honest

and complete opinion, a very transparent

review

, but actually , although the roads here are not the best surface. and they're actually not very fast.

I'm going to start with the bad things, the drawbacks that for the last six months have frustrated me, things that can't really be changed with this car and then we'll move on to the good. things because then everything will be easy until the end of the video and I'm really excited to get to the end of the video to talk a little bit about what the future holds for this car, but there are three things that I've learned. That frustrates me for the

nissan

gtr and the first is the gearbox, it's a great gearbox, nice and fast but it only has six speeds, it comes from the original gtr of the 2009 car and when you drive on the highway which I use to do.

To do many things, I use this car daily. I'm sitting at 70 miles per hour about two thousand five hundred rpm, which is in sixth gear. I wish there was a seventh gear because it's about two thousand two thousand five. one hundred rpm but the valve is open, it has an active valve system so when I'm not driving it in our dynamic mode it's quiet, the valves are closed until two thousand five hundred rpm when the vacuum is open and suddenly I'm I sat on the highway with this drone and it won't go away, so it needs 7th gear.

Speed limits in the UK mean you basically drive everywhere with the valves open, which obviously being the exhaust expert is fun and enjoyable when you're up for a spirited drive, but as daily driving can be a little annoying and actually that roundabout takes me to number two. Number two is a forward-facing blind spot that comes in the shape of the windshield and the position of this rearview mirror creates a blind spot right here that right at that moment, as I turned around that roundabout, I barely saw the Mercedes. which was pulling away at the junction but it is also a problem on dual carriageways and motorways when you are overtaking and there are slow people in this lane and you get to a point where they are in a blind spot in front of you and I have had a couple of times when you are told to go out. and they pass me and I get caught in a bit of a bind where I have to start this car, which is useful because it has enough power to pass, but it's still quite frustrating on a day-to-day basis, finally third.

The fault with this car is the size of the battery. I have drained a battery in this car in the space of two months with the cold weather and the lockdown, not being able to drive this car as much as I would like, it basically died. I had to start it three times and then I went to SP Race Engineering because it was completely dead. It needed a new battery and it didn't last more than 24 hours, so it was expensive, but it's a learning lesson knowing it's a small battery. so I have to start this car every four days to keep the battery running.
I don't have the luxury of being able to have a trickle charger and plug it into the mains and keep it running so if you are considering buying a

nissan

gt-r think about that because the battery is small this car uses a lot of electricity so you really need a trickle charger and I don't have the luxury of doing so, however the biggest compliment I can give this car is the fact that I haven't needed to modify it now, normally modifications actually take away a little from the quality of the product you get manufacturer. They spend millions on research and development and many modifications actually provide maybe a small improvement, say the suspension for example.
It provides a firmer ride in corners, meaning you have more confidence in maintaining speed, but on a day-to-day basis it usually makes the ride much stiffer and harsher than it can be when doing 95 miles a day. It's a little frustrating about this car, the comfortable suspension is perfect for everyday use, but if I wanted to put it in r, I feel like I'm on a track in a track car, the power is enough, the weight is a little heavy , but the way this car defies mechanical physics when cornering with the grip it has, you don't really feel the weight and what Nissan has done is they have built the ultimate package, everything complements everything, the steering complements the power that complements the suspension. complements the powertrain which complements the chassis all wheel drive complements the weight and the tires complement the power it is the most balanced car I think I have ever driven there are so many cars that have some amazing features that then let you down with so many other things like take the competition m2.
I'm making a lot of comparisons with the m2 competition because it's the car I had before this, but that fantastic engine, the gearbox is probably too smooth, therefore I took the fun is far from driving, that's why I always said you need the manual version for the m2 cop and yes it has the perfect chassis to be able to do these slides but it actually sounds silly so those cars have pros and cons whereas this is just really very well balanced and actually , the sound is pretty good. Okay, there is one thing that really lets this car down and that is the interior design.
I couldn't say that enough, but it's comfortable over long distances. It is much more comfortable just from an ergonomic seat than the m2 competition the suspension is much better than the bmw suspension the sound system has a much better bose surround sound system than the bmw as well and overall i have come to the conclusion in the six months I've had this car, it's one of the best cars I've ever had, it does so many things and meets so many requirements for what I need from a car, that value for money, I think that's where it stands out, its value for money It's better than anything else. other things I've had because of the hurricane Lamborghini, what a car that was, but its financing was more than twice as much per month as this one and it definitely wasn't twice as good in fuel economy, it's not that bad, it has a pretty small fuel tank , so on average I'm getting around 350 miles on a tank, which costs around £65 to fill.
My taxes for the year are £550. My insurance for the year is approximately £800. There are many profitable factors that add value. Reduce the cost and therefore increase the value for money, making it the longest running stock car that has ever appeared on the channel and also for a reason: because I really like it as is and I don't want to ruin it . it's um and I'm pretty nervous about ruining it so that's a compliment in itself the gtr is a wicked car that even though I didn't drive it before buying it stood out and exceeded all my expectations and why I want out of a car It's comfortable It's big It feels like a GT car It has a good sound system It does everyday things well but it can keep up with all the real world supercars Real world power This car is perfect for what I actually go to fill the fuel line now because I've pushed my luck too much on those roads over there, but now we're coming into a city and that's probably the best way to end this video.
I hope that gave you exactly what I feel about

owning

a value for money Nissan GT-R. You can't be wrong, it doesn't depreciate as quickly as many other performance cars in the £60,000 price range, that's important. To also mention, this car costs 63,000 pounds. I don't think this car costs less than £60,000 at the moment, so it does quite well compared to its German rivals - something to consider when you're thinking about living with the purchase. and own a nissan gtr here we go ladies and gentlemen let me know what you think let me know in the comments below about modification inspiration don't say liberty walk because I'm not going to limit you with all this car and don't say It's hitting the ground in the air because I really like the suspension on this car, but I'm interested in the exhausts.
You are completely in the wrong lane. Now I'm getting distracted as I drive towards the tower. I'll leave it there, guys, let me. I know what you think of the nissan gtr and how it compares to cars I own or have owned previously and then head on over to Seb Delaney's English channel or if you speak French head over to his French channel where he also has English subtitles. but i'm summarizing this car and comparing it to all the cars i've owned to help save, obviously he had throat surgery, he can't talk so his youtube videos would be pretty useless but head on over to his channel check it out That's what I'm going to finish.
That's it, I'll see you soon, take care, bye.
