I like to use the 16 ounce wide mouth Mason jars. This science gives me a good amount of room for my oat base and any additional toppings. and plenty of room to stir without things falling out and when you put the lid on, it closes tightly. are and is used as the base for all of my overnight oats flavor combinations. It's super simple, this is what you will need in our glass jar. We are going to pour half a cup of whole oat flakes. Make sure you use old-fashioned rolled oats and not quick oats or steel cut oats because they won't work. To give it the consistency and texture it needs, we next pour in a tablespoon of chia seeds which are packed with nutrients and give it a real pudding-like texture when soaked in liquid.

Half a cup of milk. I'm using cashew milk but you can use whatever you want a quarter cup of Greek yogurt which gives it an extra creamy texture but you don't have to use this if you don't have any on hand and a tablespoon of maple syrup as a sweetener or you can use Honey, if you want, mix it well for a few seconds and then close the lid and put it in the refrigerator. They will usually be ready to eat in two to three hours, but for best results, I like to store mine in the refrigerator.
Overnight when I'm meal prepping for the week on a Sunday, I like to make a big batch, either with my jars lined up in an assembly line like this or in a large bowl where I can combine all the ingredients at once, For example if I am making a large batch of four servings. I simply multiply everything by the shape, which means two cups of oats, a quarter cup of chia seeds, 2 cups of milk, a cup of Greek yogurt, and a quarter cup of maple syrup the next morning, when we take out oats from the refrigerator and we can see how soft and creamy the oats and chia seeds have become as they absorb all the milk and become almost like a pudding texture.
If you find it too thick, you can always add. a splash of milk to dilute it until you get the desired consistency and that's it, with this base recipe we can eat it directly from the jar AS IS or we can add dressings and ingredients if we want to improve it like I do. What I'm making here with just a few berries and hemp hearts. It's pretty simple now that we have our base formula. Let's look at six of my favorite flavor combinations. The first is what I like to call overnight oats with banana bread because to me, that's exactly what it tastes like.
To start, we're going to build our base recipe by adding our oats, chia seeds, milk, Greek yogurt, and syrup. maple, then we'll take about three quarters of a ripe banana and use a fork. On a plate we are simply going to mash the banana until it becomes a puree and looks like this. Now let's add our mashed banana to our glass jar along with half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and half a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. All this is a good mixture until everything is mixed well and we end up with a smooth consistency like this.
We cover and put it in the refrigerator when we take it out and we see that the oats have softened and absorbed into the liquid. we're going to top it off with a few slices of banana, a drizzle of maple syrup and some nuts to make it a little crunchy and that's our banana bread, overnight oats, that deep banana flavor really makes this one stand out for To me, it's like eating banana pudding. the next one tastes just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, so that's what we'll call it pbnj. First we will start by making a raspberry puree in a saucepan over medium heat and add about a cup of raspberries. a tablespoon of maple syrup and half a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, then we'll puree it and stir for a couple of minutes until the berries have turned into a puree, then we'll pour it into a small container to let it cool for a while.
In a few minutes it should look like this, like a thick jam or jelly, once it has cooled, take your glass jar and add a few tablespoons of your puree, then we will add a portion of our already prepared oat base. and place it in a layer on top, then add two tablespoons of natural peanut butter and then stir well, put a lid on and put it in the refrigerator when it's ready. I'll top it off with some raspberries, some walnuts and a splash. of maple syrup and that's your PB j sandwich like overnight oats for me, it's a real throwback to the PB J sandwiches that I used to have for lunch at school when I was a kid, now if you're in the mood for something tropical, this cup of pina colada. is the perfect overnight oats, we're going to start with the same formula of oat kisses, chia seeds, milk, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup, but the key additional ingredient we're going to add here are pineapple chunks , about a quarter cup I'm using.
Here are canned pineapples that I'm cutting into smaller pieces, but you can also use fresh or frozen. Let's add them to our jar and then on top of that we'll also add a tablespoon of coconut flakes. Let's stir our mixture well. To make sure our oat base is well mixed with pineapple and coconut, then cover and store in the refrigerator the next morning or a few hours later when ready, we will top it off with another quarter cup of sliced oats. pineapple chunks and another tablespoon of coconut flakes, we'll finish it off with some chopped nuts and our pina colada overnight oats are ready to eat.
I really like this one because it is light, refreshing and perfect for the spring and summer months. If you want to start your morning with some caffeine or if you just love mocha lattes, this one is for you first. You can use just a shot if you want or you can use coffee, then We're going to add a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a pinch of salt, stir it over a lid and store it in the refrigerator.
When you're ready to eat, we'll top it off with some chopped nuts, some coconut flakes and some crushed chocolate or chocolate chips and that's our version of an overnight oat latte. This one is great as an energy boost or just a way to make your morning espresso a little more interesting.
