most

of our previous

cedar

videos, we cut the

cedar

log into table slabs and thicker slabs. What we are going to do with this cedar log is cut it. On some one inch thick

boards

, we've made oak and pine boards, but we haven't made any cedar, so it'll be cool to make some boards out of this cedar log, so this cedar has been laying. in our cedar pile for quite a while, it was actually brought to us by Wade's Tree Service a long time ago, almost eight months ago, when we pulled this log out of our cedar pile, you couldn't see any of its

beautiful

color on the inside.

We took the chainsaw, cleaned the end, and then cut it to eight feet long. We still have quite a few logs in our cedar pile, but we're definitely looking to get a few more if you're looking. this video and you have some cedar trees that you're trying to get rid of definitely send me an email because we'd like to talk to you so in this video we're going to cut this log into a nice square can and Once we get there we're going Cut some one-inch thick boards. We also have a bucket attached to the sawmill because many of you keep saying that you are interested in this cedar sawdust, so let's go. to capture it and I have some little bags that I am going to fill with cedar dust and offer to you for sale, so this log is not perfectly round, we actually have a limb sticking out at the thin end, so we are going to cut some small two inch pieces of that all the way down to the main part of the log and those pieces will be used for some type of craft project that will probably involve some epoxy.

More Interesting Facts About,

our most beautiful boards yet from an ugly old cedar log...

Okay, let's get the The sawmill turned on and we're going to get into this log. We trim this cedar and flatten it on both sides. Now we're going to start working our way down by removing some one inch thick boards from the top. See here at the end of the log we have a couple different problems, like we have a crack in one direction, but then it looks like we have a little bit of rot or just a small hollow section going the other direction. so I don't know what's the right way to orient this log so that we don't get hurt inside, so we're going to take the best opportunity as it is and see what happens, so We're noticing some noise coming from that blade.

I think that blade is probably done, so we're going to change it before we start on these boards so that the boards we cut are perfectly smooth. Yeah, so it's all there, damn dog. The new cable blade may go all the way through or could be around this end. Yeah, that's probably right, guys, so I don't know if you just saw it in the video, but we just changed that blade. a new, double-hard, four-grade wood cutting blade, and when we cut this log, we got a really nice board. On the second cut we hit some metal, you could hear it instantly, you could hear the clear difference in the blade afterwards.

It hit that metal so we took the dash off and looked at it and it looks like it's a dog lead. There's like a green dog cable or some type of cable that has a wire that's embedded inside this log. I don't know how deep it goes, but I just checked all the teeth on that blade and it looks good, so we're going to send it back. Hopefully this wire doesn't go too far down through the log and we can run it through and continue getting some nice boards out of this cedar, so we decided to turn this log over to this flat side and then we'll work our way down from what will be the top. and see how far this chain cable, whatever it is, goes through this record.
Oh yeah, okay guys, we've got this reduced to a square. You can see all of you making these comments about why you don't wear a mask. Why not? you wear ear protection, it's hard to make videos when you have all these things on anyway, so we reduced it to a square can, what we're going to do is leave it as is, although if you look here we have this. rotten area that runs diagonally and then we also have a crack that runs this way so no matter which way we turn it we'll be screwed with this but we also have that wire here at the bottom so we're We'll leave it as okay, we're going to cut one inch boards working down from the top here, but let me know in the comments if you guys would have flipped it 90 degrees and cut from this side to make this side. the top by cutting this way, let me know in the comments box what you would have done with this, but like I said, the way we're going to leave it now, we're going to leave this at the top, we're going to work our way towards down making one inch planks, so all right guys, I want to take a moment to talk to you about something real quick.
This company only sent us a few of their flashlight products and as you know if you work on a farm you will never be able to do that. I have too many flashlights, so the lighting company specializes in these rechargeable flashlights and they sent us a couple different models to try. Olight has some really quality products, but one thing I want to show you real quick is their Baton 3 model. It comes with a wireless charging case that can fit in your pocket. Now I know some of you have airpods and you have some of those headphones that when you're done using them you put them in a case and you put them in your pocket and it gives it a charge which is exactly what this flashlight does when this flashlight is running low battery, you can open it in this case, charge it to full charge and it's supposed to last about 22 hours, that's pretty impressive if you ask.
Olight is actually the first company to make a flashlight with a rechargeable case like this, so if you're looking for some really cool flashlights that include one with a rechargeable case, head over to olight and check out their products that I have. a link in the description below where you can head over to their website and see all the specs and details on this stuff alright guys that's my product entry for today let's get back to the song so I know we just said that We were going to work our way down from the top on this thick side, but as we went down onto two other boards, we started to notice that rotten spot all the way down the center of the boards, so rather than risk wasting these boards , we're I'm going to turn the log 90 degrees and we're going to cut a bunch of one by sevens starting from this side like that, I know we're going to get some solid boards out of this section and then once we get here to this area like rotten, I don't know what they will look like, but I think it will be more effective than cutting it like we are doing now.
As I turn this around, I'm dealing with this wire here, so it's like In a lose-lose situation, either we cut from one side and have a rotten spot in the center or we cut from this side and possibly hit this cable again, which I'm pretty sure we're going to hit the cable again, but that The blade already sounds weird, so we consider it a lost blade. If I were to turn it all the way around and go down from here, I'd only get about two boards before I got to that rotten part, so let's just go out this side and see what happens, damn, guys, we just finished cutting that log of cedar into one inch thick boards and man these things are incredible, this has to be the most beautiful board we have ever cut at our sawmill, I don't know what the price of these things will be but they sure are pretty cool guys , they will do it for this video.
